Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

“Sounds pleasant. I don’t think I’ve been to your shop. Or if I have, I didn’t know it was yours,” he commented a bit absentmindedly. “How has your art been? Draw anything exciting lately? And do you ever sell your art?” he continued.

"It's a small local bookstore. The one right before you get to the corner. My parents own and run it. But I'm enlisted for work there when they need me." Elaine said. She thought about what her parents would be doing right now. Probably sitting in the living area upstairs talking or eating dinner if they ran the shop late.
"My art? It's been good, had a couple skirmishes with my paints but nothing I couldn't handle." She raised a fist in triumph. "And I the most exciting thing I've done all week is finally get the sketch of the lonely dog finished. We have one that wanders around our house sometimes." The mutt in terms was pretty large. Came up to about mid-thigh with the top of his head. To Elaine that is. Probably knee high to everyone else. He had sharp pointed ears and a narrow snout. "He looked very brown... But I assume after a good bath he is probably a different color." Elaine pondered his question about selling. She gave most of her newest things to Keefe, upon request. And sometimes put little sketches up for display in the shop. "I do sell it. Keefe gets anything new and sometimes I'll sell older things in the store."

“I’ve seen your place, but I haven’t visited it much. Usually don’t need any books.” He wanted to mention the fact he had a giant private library waiting at his clubhouse, but alas, guild business needed to stay a secret. And as it stood, no one outside of the guild knew he was even a member, let alone second in command.
When she mentioned a stray dog, he looked at her, immediately concerned for the animal. “Have you tried approaching the dog?” he asked, forgetting to ask more about her art.

"More than once." She said surprised by his curiosity. "He won't let you get too close but he doesn't seem hostile. Just shy." Elaine left out the part where she had nicknamed him. Her father warned her not to get too attached to it. "I try to leave food out for him as often as I can. But my dad will get suspicious." She rolled her eyes. "Come by one day and I'll try to introduce you to him if you like."

“The poor thing,” he replied, already thinking through the best way to approach a fearful animal. He wouldn’t be able to take the dog home but maybe he could at least get it some food, and maybe a bath. “I’d like to try and meet the little guy. Maybe after I show you this field?” He suggested. They were already pretty close to the edge of town, they’d be leaving the borders rather soon.

Elaine nodded at his request. She could manage that. "He is very sweet though, from what I've seen with his very scarce interactions." She had almost gotten him to take food from her once. But someone came out the door and he scurried off. "You'd like him." She said. Double checking their route Elaine continued to walk. Growing even more interested in this field.

“I’ll keep it in mind,” he smiled. As they walked forward, the buildings around them became less dense and thinned out considerably. Pretty soon they wouldn’t see any buildings at all, instead only trees and other shrubbery.

Elaine began to notice the buildings thinning out. She had the strange feeling of being exposed. Like being out in the open after being enveloped in the city's close walls. "Wow. I knew the city had limits but I never thought to go past them." She joked.

Lasair laughed slightly. “We still have a ways to go. Pay attention to the path so that you can hopefully find you’re way back here again,” he explained. Looking around, taking a deep breath of the air, he felt relaxed. As much as he loved the city, he also loved being outside it. The air here just felt clearer and easier to breath. All the steam powered tools hiding in all the buildings did something to the air there, he was sure of it.

"I am, I am!" She said making a show of looking. She took a deep breath and felt herself loosen up. It was calming out here. "No wonder you like it so much. Its actually quiet." The average sounds of the city were slowly being replaced by softer nature sounds. It almost made her ears ring. 'I have got to get out more. And I mean out of the city.' She thought.

He smiled, happy to see that she was enjoying it out here. Then, he pointed at a particularly large tree coming up on the left side of the dirt path. “See this tree? It’s the signal that we’re going off the path,” he explained. Stopping in front of it for a moment, he turned and walked off the path, to the opposite of the tree however, walking off to the right. He went first, flattening the grass as he walked, this was the easy part of the trek. The path would get rockier later.

Elaine memorized the tree and reached out to run her hand over its rough surface. The bark was uneven beneath her hand. The leaves a over her head almost the same color of her eyes. Realizing Lasair was running off without her she hurried to catch up. High stepping as much as she could with her short self. She came up behind him and was staring at the ground as they walked.

Glancing over is shoulder, he saw Elaine catch up behind him. Must have been distracted. “Stay close. If you don’t know you’re way around, it’ll be easy to get lost,” he called. Continuing to walk forward, the scenery around them slowly became more and more thick with trees and shrubs. It was becoming a bit harder to walk forward as the branches began trying to grab at them, hold them back, and overall try to stop their progress.

Elaine nodded even though she knew he couldn't see. Lasair was brushing through the thickening plants with a bit more ease. 'Used to it.' She guessed. As he passed a tree a branch folded back with a push from him. And Elaine went to catch it with her open hand but missed and got side-swiped with a face full of leaves. She batted the plant's grabby limb out of the way with a look of utter loathing. She loved nature until it tried decapitating you. Muttering something under her breath she focused on keeping pace and remembering the way. Using certain rocks or natural formations to keep track.

“Hey, see how it’s really bright up ahead? That’s where we’re heading.” He gestured ahead at the bright light that was ahead of them. There was still sunlight coming down from above them, but the light ahead was much brighter. Just a few more steps and they’d break through the trees and be there at the entrance of the field.
