Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Elaine walked down the center street of the merchants district looking into the various store windows. She saw everything from books, like her home store, to mining equipment and sea gear. Stopping at one clothing store that evening she went inside and browsed. Being your average girl she tried several things on before settling on a pretty black short-sleeved blouse with a lace collar. It went well with the dark red skirt she was wearing. Purchasing the garment she actually wore it out of the store. Not wanting to wait till she got home to dawn it.
After putting away the original shirt she had been wearing in her satchel the girl kept going. She loved her home district. Although the Theater had taken a special place in her heart as well. She passed several more stores before noticing glittering jewels winking at her from a store window. Mesmerized by the lovely jewelry the girl stepped up and opened the door. As she entered she immediately wondered why she had not ever come before. There were gorgeous necklaces and earrings along with beautiful brackets and rings. Elaine wandered the store not paying much attention to see if anyone were behind the counter.

Having slept in a bit later than he should have, Lasair was only just now getting out of bed now since it was almost after noon. He grumbled and got out of bed, quickly getting dressed and heading down the stairs. Not that he had anything to do today, but he felt like he should get out right now.
Arriving at the bottom of the stairs he smiled to his parents, saying “See ya later mom, dad,” and walked around the counter to leave. To his surprise, he noticed Elaine browsing the product in the store. Odd, she’d never been around here before, at least that he knew of. “Fancy seeing you here,” he said to her from behind, grinning as he did so. From behind the counter his dad looked up, surprised to see Lasair still in the store.

The girl was viewing some pretty ruby earings and some gold bracelets. The earrings she wondered would look good with her hair pulled back in a clip today. The long dark curls trailing down her back. Suddenly she heard a familiar voice chant a familiar catchphrase. Elaine looked over her shoulder. "Lasair?" She smiled in astonishment. She turned around completely to view him. A little scruffier than usual. "Did you just get up?" The girl raised an eyebrow at him.

“Maybe, this is my home after all,” he smirked, letting Elaine in on a little knowledge that not many people bothered to know. It seemed talking about parents was usually a touchy subject among everyone. Wonder why.
“Hey Lasair, aren’t you gonna introduce your friend to me?” he dad called from behind the counter. Lasair never brought friends home, so his parents were eager to meet one of the people he hung around with.

Elaine returned his little smirk with a amused roll of her eyes. "My parents are merchants too. Bookstore." She replied. But an older man addressed them. Elaine instantly put on her best smile. She cast a curious glance at the red headed boy. 'His...father?' Interesting life Lasair was turning out to have. She waved shyly at the man.

Sighing, Lasair turned around, but made no moves to approach the counter. His dad sat back there, smiling. He was a general Anderswelter and had the good looks to prove it, although they had faded with his age. “Elaine, this is my dad. Dad, this is Elaine. She’s a friend of mine. Nothing serious.” If he didn’t add that last phrase, his dad would have assumed Elaine was someone he dated. And seeing as she was spoken for, he didn’t want to go down that road.

Elaine lightly nodded her head as they were introduced. "It's a pleasure to meet you." She said using traditional formalities. The girl turned back to the jewelry in thought. "So what are you doing this afternoon?" She asked Lasair. Couldn't have very many plans considering he just got up. Maybe they could go find somewhere to sit and talk or find something fun to do. Elaine didn't have anything major planned, she had just been looking for stuff to do anyways. "In fact hold that thought." She said picking up the ruby earrings. She approached the counter where his father stood and placed them on it before pulling a wallet out of her satchel. "You have lovely jewelry sir." Elaine complemented pulling the correct change out of her wallet and offering to him.

“For a friend of Lasair, I’ll give ya a discount. Half off sound good?” his dad chuckled, having a soft spot for his son and his friends.
“Dad, you’re too nice,” Lasair added, following Elaine up to the counter. That was nice of his dad to offer her a discount, but Lasair would have rather just gotten out of there quickly. His parents were nice, but he didn't always enjoy spending time with them.

"That's very generous of you! Thank you." She said secretly pleased at the deal. But all women with shopping knowledge love it when they get something cheaper. The girls nimble fingers recounted and placed the new amount on the table while pocketing the leftovers. "It's been a pleasure." She said picking up her earrings and waving goodbye. "I'll be sure to come back." She added knowing how her father always told his customers, "Come back soon!" Turning she walked out and stood at the door waiting for Lasair to follow. "So, if your not busy, would you like to go for a walk?" It was the first thing that came to her mind.

His father waved at the duo, smiling. It was always a good day when he made a sale, and an even better now that he met someone new.
Dashing out the door a few moments later, Lasair smiled to Elaine and replied, “A walk sounds lovely. Where to?” Offering his arm to her, he looked around, wondering what was going on in the streets of Lodan today.

"Hmmm." Elaine replied thinking. She took his arm and made a bee line towards the docks. She wanted a breath of fresh sea air after a long week. "Are you comfortable with the docks?" She wanted to make sure he didn't mind the sea before heading that way for sure. She hummed quietly as she walked.

“The docks would be fun,” he replied. “Any reason you’d like to head over there?” He didn’t have any problems with the docks, but he was curious is all. Did she have a secret agenda? Was she meeting someone? All sorts of ideas popped into his head, even though the answer was probably something simple.

Elaine cast him a questioning look. "Curious aren't we? I have no plans it's just a nice place to walk. Open air and its a place I know well." And who knows what adventures lie there. There also were less streetlamps to crowd out the early, brightest stars. "Where is your favorite place to walk?" She asked. Surely he had a lot more experiences than she did with his travels. Maybe his favorite place was from another city.

“My favorite place? Probably an open field. No buildings, very few trees. Just a wide open space.” Lasair didn’t have to put much thought into the answer, he already knew it. One of his favorite memories was visiting a wide open field and just, well, walking around it. A clear view of the sky, no one else around. It was nice.

"That sounds....different." Elaine hadn't seen anything other than the city. She wasn't supposed to go beyond the city limits. But now she was out on her own most of the time. She may begin to make an exception. The soft lapping of the waves against the posts reached her ears before anything else. The salty tang drifted her way and she smiled. "This is as close as I've ever come to a clear sky. Not as many lights out here to blot everything out." She gestured to the skies with her free hand.
