Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
"I would prefer not to use my arm," Amon called out as he found a suitable piece of metal and bent one of the ends to the correct size. "Might affect something, might not," he continued as he took a blowtorch and heated the end until it gave off a slightly red glow.
Perfect.
"Hey, could do me a favor and fill the tub with cold water and crack open the window for me?" he asked Edel as he rejoined the girls. "So...here's what we're gonna do," he said addressing Sienna. "As Edel said, she'll be using magic to numb up your senses so that you don't feel pain. While that is happening, I'm going to rebrand you with this blank (sorry in advance of this brings up unpleasant memories). As soon as I'm done, Edel will heal you up and then you are officially free."

In some way, the manner how Sienna commented that as long as it was painless the rest didn't matter was heart-wrenching, but Edelweiss could understand it, to a fault. So she just let out a sigh before moving to fill the bathtub. "Well, I'm done with your hair too... at least with it shorter like this there won't be any trouble keeping it from burning on accident."
And talking about that, there was all those cropped hair strands on the floor still... "Will Abby be coming to sweep all this away first, or afterwards?"
Sienna glanced to the hair on the floor and lifted a hand to run her fingers through what had been cut and now styled. It would take some getting used to but a lot of things would, like living without Clarence and having free reign to do as she pleased. It wasn't like this had dominated her life, she had numerous memories and experiences but they all seemed so gray and lack luster next to the living hell she'd been through. What had she done with her life? Had she done anything that mattered?
She was pulled from her thoughts as they spoke again, about questions and cleaning. “I just w-want it gone and to n-not feel pain.” She really didn't care, really. She just didn't want to hurt anymore.
"Okay. Gonna go for five seconds. On your signal Edel," Amon sighed, positioning the brand. Once he got Edel's approval to start, he made contact with Sienna's skin, producing a small amount of smoke and a slight smell of burnt flesh as he held the metal in place for five seconds.
"Done," he announced as he finished, carefully rushing around the ladies and dipping the hot metal into the tub with an slight hiss, the steam escaping from the open window.

“I just w-want it gone and to n-not feel pain.”
If Edelweiss ever thought Sienna's state couldn't make her heart feel tighter, now she'd have been proven wrong. But instead of trying to give a verbal answer to something one wouldn't find words for, she just took a deep breath and reached out a hand towards Sienna, lacing Health magic into her fingertips.
First to numb the pain before it starts, and let it be gone as requested.
"Lend me a hand, Sie?" The feeling of it should be similar to a frostbite - a quick-cooling chill carrying an odd warmth to it. And then she gave Amon a nod. A simple hissing noise was never as cringe-worthy in her ears, but necessary still.
And once that was done she just focused on slowly, carefully healing the freshly burned skin again, leaving no trace of scars behind before checking if everything was alright and settling Sienna's pain sensitivity back to its normal levels.

Sienna braced herself, afraid that despite everything that it might still hurt. The sensation of Edel's magic working was strange but it was better than hurting. The hot metal came next, the weight of it was there, the pressure of it covering her shoulder. But as she'd asked it didn't hurt. And soon enough it was over.
She sighed and glanced over her shoulder at what had once been a nasty reminder of her captivity. She had plenty more but this one had been the worst. It had signified her being owned. And now it was gone.
A hand raised to reach back, ghosting her fingers over the now smooth skin. If only this could be done for her memories...
"Thank you." She said softly. Not just for this but for all they'd done. She hoped to repay them someday, somehow but for now she'd just be appreciative.
"Any time..." Amon responded with a small smile. "Just let us know if you ever want any other scars gone..." he continued as he closed the window and began to drain the tub.
"May I come in? This is the last room to be cleaned," Abby asked from the doorway. "I take it the operation was a success?"
"Yes and yes," Amon replied as he escorted the ladies out of the bathroom.
"Now then..." he said as he went to put the metal bar back in Sienna's workshop. "Where did you want to eat? Mind you: we may run into some people who knew you and missed you dearly..." he continued upon his return.

If she was being honest with herself Edelweiss wouldn't be able to tell whether herself was hungry or not. Between the previous very tiring evening and its lingering effects added to the fact they had just finished slightly barbecuing Sienna, it seemed like her stomach couldn't decide if it wanted food or never having to work again.
Still, not skipping meals was for the best, and she did think it was particularly important to make sure her friend would be well-fed - mainly considering how malnourished Sienna currently was. And apparently Amon had a nice idea where they could go for breakfast, so there they go then. The redhead just kept a mental note that they might still need to go out for groceries as well (to refill Sienna's kitchen) before they head back.
Sienna sat quietly, her mind slowly turning as she processed her return to reality. All the bad things she'd had to live through threatened to break her from the inside out. But something about that mark being gone and knowing she didn't have to hurt anymore… it felt light. There was still a lot weighing her down but it was as if a ball and chain, one of many had been unclasped, freeing up a limb.
To say it was strange was an understatement. But it was how she felt.
Amon inquired about food again and this time her stomach didn't get as I'll at the idea. Pondering it for a while she finally answered. “Some place n-new.” She wished to ultimately move past what had happened. And she didn't want to taint her positive memories of places she knew and loved by going while her wounds were so fresh. Not that there was any gurantee she'd be able to eat anything.
"...Some place new huh..." Amon muttered, thinking carefully. "...I might know a few places...depends on what you want: pastries, omelettes, pancakes..."
"Up to you really," he said with a shrug. "We can go when you're ready."
"How about you? You feeling okay?" he asked Edel. She had been using quite the number of spells last night, only to use more this morning. Hopefully she was okay...

"...Just tired." She replied honestly, letting out a small sigh. The amount of spells she'd been using wasn't exactly low, she'd agree to that, but wasn't all that unusual either. Magic energy gradually replenished itself everyday as well, and the body never allowed a caster to spend more than they naturally had, so it's not like casting spells would make her sick. Besides, no amount of exhaustion would justify not at least making sure Sienna would be getting a little better (or at least better fed that morning), so the redhead was focusing on her friend right then. "But I can deal with this much. It's no big deal. Maybe get a frappe coffee or something."
Mostly, the source of her tiredness was a simple mix of mental exhaustion and having slept less than necessary the past night. Edelweiss couldn't think of anything she could ask for fixing that, other than some more caffeine and maybe a nap. "And you?" For someone who had barely walked up to his own bed and instantly passed out on it still fully clothed, and then woke up as early as she did, she couldn't help but think Amon seemed to be absurdly awake that morning.

Pastries, omelettes, pancakes... she liked all of those.
"Can... we have all three?" She asked, her eyes widening a bit with a kind of trepidation. Clarence had controlled everything while he'd had her. She could never have both of something, it was always one or the other. A tactic he had enacted cruelly at times be was she would either be whipped or beaten.
She stayed silent as the pair inquired after one another. Surely they had to be tired too and yet they'd come over here to make sure she was okay. It was so kind of them but she kind of wish they'd taken care of themselves first.
"If you want," Amon replied with a shrug. "It's your decision after all...although..." He paused for a moment, deep in thought. "...Someplace new...that serves all the above items and maybe more..."
"...If I could make a suggestion on the place, I know that there was a member who opened up a cafe about a month ago (I think you know what I'm talking about Edel). We could go there."

"I guess that works." No, she actually couldn't remember what place Amon was talking about right then, but she realized she probably would if she could force her mind to think of it for a while. Scattered thoughts did things to a person's memory. But she could work with the description of the place at least and it sounded good enough.
Also if Sienna ever asked aloud, the redhead could honestly say that taking care of her was pretty much the same as taking care of themselves right then. Edelweiss had plenty of thoughts she'd rather not focus on at the moment and so having Sienna around to direct the majority of her attention to actually gave the guildleader some sort of peace of mind - besides, she was sure Amon would agree as well that they'd both feel better when Sienna is feeling better too.

Sienna nodded, liking that idea. It might be a bit indulgent to ask for them all but she'd been denied an option to choose much of anything for so long it felt like a rebellious act. And it felt nice to do so. Like a little bit of her old self was still there, waiting to collect itself so she could be Sienna again rather than a shadow she'd become. Of course it was much easier to think it than to do it. Even still she forced a smile to her face for them. Even if she wasn't happy, acting happy had its benefits. Pretending she was happy would eventually make her happy with time and perseverance. It was all she could do now and after a while the smile faltered but her inner will, the one that had helped her survive with some of her sanity intact wasn't giving up any time soon.
