Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Catching the hand meant to push him away, Lasair squatted down to look Zona in the eye. He pulled her hand gently to get her attention, making her at least look towards him. “You don’t look fine. You need to get home and sleep that alcohol off,” he said with concern. As much as Lasair loved women, he knew how often they were taken advantage of. And Zona was in the perfect state to be taken advantage of. He couldn’t just leave her slumped in the alley like this. He wouldn’t leave her nor any other person he saw in the same position.

Elaine looked at Keefe's outstretched arm and then looped hers through it. "Sounds like a good plan." They began their walk to the throng of people. Keefe's first words made a small spark of warmth start in her chest. She was happy she asked to come along. But his next sentence was a little confusing. She glanced at him sideways curiously. "Oh! No, I don't believe I've ever seen exactly who your looking for. Who is i, if you don't mind me asking?" Was it a long lost friend or family member? The crowd surged around them, forcing the two of them to walk closer together much to El's embarrassment. Not that she minded he closer proximity but she had one of her daggers hidden under her sash on her hip and definitely didn't want that to be noticed. As he rummaged for something in his pocket El reached down with her other hand she tightened the belt that the dagger was fixed to, the blade ceased to jostle as she moved. Giving a inaudible sigh of relief she turned her attention back to Alonzo.

Zona looked Lasair in the eye as he grabbed her hand, she didn't want to leave and go home, but at the same time she didn't want to stay here. "I'm .... Fine!" Zona said as she sat back up and pulled her hand away from Lasair, "I can ... handle myself and I DON'T want ... to go home... I just..." Zona began to slide back down on the wall. Deep down she knew she shouldn't be here, and that Lasair was just trying to help, but for some reason him trying to help made her mad, it mad her think that Lasair thought she was weak and couldn't handle herself on her own. "I've been in... worse and can handle myself...And I don't need... don't need... need you..."

"Oh!" Keefe said as he finally grabbed the picture from his pocket, "It would kind of help if you knew what the person looks like... or uh looked like." Keefe said as he handed the photo to Elaine, "It's an old picture but its all I have... I understand that she may not look the same as she did but at least i can kind of tell what her facial features look like, and her hair too. If its anything like mine it should still be the same color now as it was then." Keefe looked at the picture with her looking at the three in the picture, secretly wishing they could all be here to enjoy the festival together.

“Well I want to be here,” Lasair countered and sat on the ground next to her. Thankfully he was wearing black pants; otherwise he would have worried about the filth on the ground. If he couldn’t get her to go home, then he’d just have to stay here with her. He refused to leave her alone while she was, well, like this. Maybe it would be best just to let her ramble about what’s bothering her.

Elaine stared at the picture. Something about the girl seemed vaguely familiar but she figured she was just imagining it. "Is that your sister?" She asked still looking at the old photo. Shaking her head El looked up. "She looks familiar in some way. But I don't believe I've seen her. Or what she would look like now." Despite her answer a bit of uncertainty glittered in her green eyes. She handed the photo back, convincing herself her mind was stuffed with cotton and trying to trick her she looked up into the crowd. "Well we can ask about anyone around here. A few of the shopkeepers have worked here many years." Elaine spotted one of the eldest and noticed a gap in the crowd. Without hesitation she grabbed Keefe's hand and pulled him with her as she darted through the space. They made it through just as it was swallowed up by the mass. Standing in the thin stretch between the moving and the standing. "Gotta be quick to get anywhere around here." She laughed before releasing his hand and letting hers drop to her side. "I wonder how many people are here today." Growing up in the Merchant's District had worked its magic and she could easily drift through large groups and didn't mind being surrounded. But she stayed close to Keefe's side making sure they couldn't easily be split up.

"Yes she is..." Keefe said as he looked at Elaine, she had a certain look to her the Keefe seemed to admire, something that made her seem... that made him feel... Suddenly a prang of hope shot through Keefe as Elaine said she looked familiar, but as soon as that hope came it vanished when she said she didn't know of anyone. As he took the photo back Elaine grabbed his hand and ran off into the swarming crowd, "What the-" Keefe began to say but was cut off when the mass of people began to swarm around him, some how they made it to the other side, thought the space they were standing in was small Keefe didn't mind, he was kind of happy that he was standing so close to someone he liked. Keefe smiled as Elaine talked about how fast they needed to be an about all the people he knew what it was like to be around people but not this many in one place. Keefe then quickly turned to the girl and rested his hand on her shoulder, "I know you said you don't think you know of anyone, but even if you think they look vaguely familiar, please tell me. I don't care what it is about them, whether it is their nose or their ears, even the way they smile, please, show me to them. I need, really NEED to find her... she is all I have left in my family... Please..." Keefe had a feeling he was sounding desperate but he was, and Elaine was the closes thing he had to a lead right now. He need to at least see the person she was thinking of. "Who is it that came to mind, that made you say she looked familiar?" As he lowered his hand from her shoulder he brought it down her arm until his hand found hers, gently he grabbed it and held it close, bring the other hand up to hold the other hand of hers.

"Why...?" Zona sat up when Lasair sat down, "What makes you want to stay? What? Don't think I can?" Zona asked as she some how made it to her knees and turned to look at the man, "Don't think I can't handle myself? Hu?! Is that it?" Zona's temper was increasing rather fast and for something that wasn't worth getting mad at. "You don't know what I've been through!! You don't have any RIGHT to say I can't handle myself!!! I've been SHOT and I'm still standing!! You can't tell me what I can and can't do!" Zona had some how gotten to her feet when she was talking, and was now pacing back and forth just about ready to pull her bow out, "Why do you think I can't handle myself? Cuz I look weak? Cuz I'm small? Cuz I'm an Ander? Cuz I'm a female? Why?" Suddenly tears began to fill her eyes falling down to her knees the bottle she had in her hand fell to the floor and shattered next to her, "Why?... Why was he there... Why wasn't I there... Why did they think I... Why is he..... Why..." Zona fell onto Lasair's shoulder and began to cry, no longer staying the strong person she normally was, she just let the tears flow. "Why... Why are you dead..." Zona said in a nearly inaudible voice

“It’s okay,” Lasair said slowly as he patted Zona’s back. He held onto her as she cried, the stench of alcohol seeping strongly off her. He didn’t mind it, but he knew it was unlike her. So was the crying. In the short time he had known her, she was all proud and strong, but everyone has their moment of weakness. He just hoped she wouldn’t do anything crazy in hers.

Elaine glanced at the hand on her shoulder in surprise. Then her gaze softened at she looked towards Keefe. "I will take you to her. But today might not be a good day." He took hold of her hands holding them close to him. "I promise I'll find her as soon as possible. You sister reminds me of my best friend. The only person in the city I'd run to if I was confused or scared or just in the need of a good laugh." Zona's grin came to mind when she said this making her want to find her as soon as possible just for the sake of Keefe's search. But if she hadn't already seen her today their chance of finding her was slim. Elaine gently squeezed his hands. "I'll take you to Zona after the festival. She might be out right now and if I know her she'll be impossible to find. And if she isn't your sister she will be the one to know of anyone else like her." As she finished her sentence she looked down at her hands then back to Keefe. Smiling as if it could make it seem like tomorrow wasn't so far off. He had been searching for his sister for so long that it pained her to ask him to wait another day. Part of her felt like she was letting him down while the other knew she probably wasn't going to find Zona nearby. Elaine didn't know which side to trust. She just stood there letting Keefe hold her hands trying to decide what to do next. Zona... Why her of all people?

Keefe's eyes lit up at the thought of meeting this 'Zona' girl, for some reason that name seemed like something his mother would have named her, but since he only heard stories of his mother he wasn't sure. "Thank you. Thank you sooo much! I can't wait!" Keefe smiled and, whether it was unintentional or not, he let go of Elaine's hands and brought her in for a hug, for a moment he just held her, extremely happy about what he just heard. Realizing what he did he stopped hugging her and backed up a it and began to rub the back of his head. "Welll.... Ummm.... Lets forget about this hunt for right now and just go and enjoy the festival." Keefe turned a bit and offered his arm again.

Keefe suddenly let go of her hands and hugged her. The movement stunned Elaine and her mind drew blanks. She lightly hugged him back a little confused but pleased none the less. Then as if his actions caught up with him he stepped back. Her cheeks were bright red and she knew it. "That..sounds...fine..." She stammered trying not to let on how much that hug scrambled her head. She took his arm and began to walk. "Where to next?" She asked. There were plenty of things to do.

Zona's fit slowly calmed as she rested her head on Lasair's shoulder. "I just... I... I want my family... someone who really loves and cares for me... I need them...." Zona's eyes became heavy from the alcohol and the lack of sleep, slowly they closed as she stayed nested next the Lasair with her head still on his shoulder.

Joining the crowd the two of them began to walk about in the heart of the festival, "Well umm...." Keefe began as he thought of what they should do, just then a thought came to mind something he asked her about before and now would be the perfect time to go and do it. "Oh I know! It will be perfect! Do you wan it to be a surprise? Because if you do I won't tell what we would be doing, if not I'll tell." Keefe said with excitement beginning to fill his voice.

Elaine grinned at his excitement. He rambles a bit. "Nope. Don't tell me. I'd prefer a surprise if your this excited about it!" She tried to think of what he could possibly mean. She glanced around for a swift way past the crowd. "You know how to get there right, O-lord-of-getting-lost?" She asked teasingly in his ear. She grinned in spite of trying to keep a serious face and laughed. The festival giddiness was getting to her.
