Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Stephen nodded at Elaine as she waved. She looked happy. Glad someone was having an enjoyable time that the festival. "Ah, I see" he replied to Max, not really knowing how to politely carry on the conversation. Twenty years and he still failed in small talk. Turning his head, he watched the water for a bit, trying to figure out how to make this situation less awkward for himself. Then, a painfully familiar voice snapped him into attention. Turning calmly, he faced the woman he left on the alter, a sense of dread, fear, and regret assaulted him just by looking her in those strikingly blue eyes.
"Can we talk?"
Ah, that dreaded phrase had to be her first words to him? A phrase that brought hope and disrepair to all who heard it. "Well, fancy seeing you here. You look wonder...." he awkwardly managed but was interrupted on her comment about not mentioning the dress. ".... never mind." He pause, twiddling his thumbs then cleared his throat "Um, do you possibly mean that you wish to speak now. As in, this very moment at this precise spot?" he gestures to the ground she was standing on, an apprehensive look in his gray-blue eye. If that was the case, Max would certainly have to go. No possible way would he have an important conversation in front of that woman. She might try to hold something over his head and then he would have to kill her and that would terrible complicate things...... Did he really just think that... How far he has fallen...
The half-blood thief glanced around the area when Stephen asked her if she meant right here and now. "Well..." she started before sighing and rubbing the bridge of her nose. "I don't know... I'd prefer now as to later when you've figured out some escape route... or I've figured out an escape route..." said Ikuze as she rubbed the back of her neck before she very unlady-like just flopped onto a nearby seat and put her head into her hands, groaning at the situation. The maid rolled her eyes. "I did try to steer you away from here milady." she remarked, earning a glower from her blue haired mistress.

Escape? If only he could. Unfortunately, his pride and personal morals would not allow him to even try. "Ah, How.. Wonderful" he answered hesitantly, nervously adjusting his vest when he outright knew there was nothing wonderful about the whole ordeal. "What might be the... reason for your wish to... converse with me?" he asked hesitantly, steeling himself for what might come. If only he knew what she wanted to talk about but, alas, he had not the slightest clue. Why were women so fraking hard to read.... Speaking of women... Stephen, glanced at Max and cleared his throat loudly, gesturing with his head that her exit would be most appreciated as soon as possible.

"Valentines- Oh! Oh Dear!" He exclaimed, grabbing at his alarm clock frantically as it sat, dormant next to him on his bed-table. The time-teller ticked away, and Iaco grinned, hiding his embarrassment as he set it back. He had forgotten to set it the night before. How foolish of him! It was a pleasure to see Clancy, none-the-less, and his smirk grew. "What a good morning it is, Clancy, love! How have you been in your long absence?"
“Humph,” was the only sound Max made as she stood up. So much for that conversation, and she actually thought it was going well.
She stood up and walked off towards the different stands. Perhaps there was something else to do. Probably not, but still, she wanted to try. Maybe someone else would run into her. Who knows. Either way, she wasn’t leaving the festival quite yet.
"I only go out to get me a fresh appetite for being alone." -Lord Byron
Ikuze gave a slight chuckle and shook her head. "Wish I knew myself..." she said before sighing and staring up at the empty sky, kicking her legs ever so slightly. "Well... first thing that comes to mind is you and Danielle... After the wedding, did you two get back together?" she asked. "Haven't seen her in a while personally..." the thief said. She gave Stephen time to answer before she continued. "It's strange... before and during the wedding... I'll admit, I was confused as hell about how I felt about you. About everything..." the blue haired girl admitted. "The flowers and note certainly didn't help." chuckled the girl, wiping her eye a little. She took a small breath, Linda looking at her in mild concern before her mistress signaled she was alright. "But... after the wedding... With actual time to think... I think I may actually..." said Ikuze before she looked at Stephen. "...You're enjoying this aren't you?" she deadpanned.

Stephen watched her as she went on, oblivious to everything else. She really did look nice. He wished she would let him tell her but she said not to, and it would only complicate their situation more. Sitting straighter then a board, he listened to her, a small frown forming on his lips at her starting comment. Of course the first thing she had to bring up would be about Danielle. “If you think I left you at that alter for her, you are sorely mistaken. I have not seen her since before the wedding and I do not plan to” he answered back in an even, sincere voice. Danielle did not want him. Her actions made that clear to him. Someone like that was not worth getting hurt over again.
As she went on, her demeanor started to change. As he listened she appeared to have started crying. Shock lit his features and he reached into his vest pocket to pull out a handkerchief. He started to extend his hand to offer the cloth to her but he frozen when what she appeared to be saying finally sunk in. His eye widened in shock and amazement as his chest tightened. What should he do? Should he... or would that make things more complected? Out of all the dresses she had to choose, why that one too!? Why did she have to talk to him in that dressed. He supposed it was better this than that one corset outfit that she wore when he took her to her grandfather. Queens, if she had been wearing that, he would have had an even harder time concentrating. The all of a sudden her attitude changed again, leaving him- once again- in the dust. Still frozen, he took a moment to respond, trying to catch up. “What? I…. Are you…. Are you trying to mess with me?” The more he talked, the more confused and flustered he looked. He was very lost right now and he did not even want to hope for anything in the case that it might get crushed.
Ikuze blinked at his comments about Danielle. "Oh... huh..." was all she got out, running through the situation in her head before she focused herself, even as he appeared to become confused. She shook her head slowly. "If I was trying to mess with you, I'd have had Linda confess her repressed feelings for you." she said, earning a quick thwap across the head from the aforementioned maid when the half-feline was certain nobody was looking. "Now's not the time for jokes miss." the maid said, the blue haired girl rubbing the back of her head with a smirk all the same before she focused back on Stephen. "But seriously... I am not trying to mess with you..." she said before sighing. "Although... now I wonder... if you didn't leave for her... then do you..." Ikuze trailed off, unsure of where this conversation would go.

Caitlin was leaning out the restored balcony window to her suite at the barons estate. The one on the 2nd floor right over the bay window of the formal dining room that she'd once blown a hole in as an escape route from an engagement that she disagreed with terribly. The red crepe paper and balloons had drifted as far as the Central Square, despite the festival taking center stage in the theater district. She wouldn't normally hole away on a holiday, if there was one thing Caity always loved, it was a party, and parties that encompassed the whole city were never to be missed. .... ...... .......
But then again... the last few years had brought her anything but good luck in the love arena. Still.... maybe she could find that wretched catboy of hers, Levi Küper, flirting with a half dozen skirts or more, and it would turn her off to him once and for all. It wasn't the most chipper of thoughts, but it was motivation. Something. Anything besides wallowing over her recent failures. She failed to spot the Ander killer in her own guild, failed to save the Commander when he was framed for said killers spree. She'd failed in a lot of regards and was feeling quite hopeless lately.
A knock beat on the door. "If you dont mind me saying so young lady, If you don't get out of this house within the hour - I'll sweep you out m'self." Maria. Of course, always the dutiful staffer. Cait gave a small grin.
"I hear you and I was just about to leave. I only wanted... " What did she want, she shook her head and reached for the armoire, "Something else to wear before I leave."
Caitlin dressed and left before she could be swept out by a well meaning woman in her forties.
Outside, Caitlin strolled through central square toward the brightly colored and immensely decorated theater district. De ja vous hit her like a train. She'd seen all this before. In fact, she half expected to see commander Faolan Skye in his bright red uniform drinking with his officers, or Willoughby Tavers carrying a red rose for her by the ferris wheel. It made her heart squeeze and her eyes a bit forlorn.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin
Off in the distance Ruffio sits on top of the roof tops taking in the festivities of the events around him. Still a stranger to the ongoing of the city he chooses to observe silently..... His attention is pulled to a lone occupied balcony where a most gorgeous maiden stands... "My stars...." he says on the slightest bit of breath. His gaze his lingers on her as he takes in her standing there, tilting his head in curiosity as to who this woman is and what is it about her that has him curious. Ruffio notices the woman pulled from her gaze and walks back into the room. "Drat, where did she go?" Moving around the roof tops to gain a better view Ruffio notices the lady walking out. "Hmm... looks like I shall be partaking the festivities after all..." Looking down at his "lucky" coin in his hand Ruffio says.."I wonder what lady luck has to offer tonight..." Ruffio looks back down to the lone lady "Guess I will just have to find out"
Ruffio then briskly as a cat makes his way down .....

The festival of hearts was Lasair’s favorite festival. He had to admit that he’d missed it during all those years abroad. Now that he was back in his home, he’d finally be able to enjoy it once again. He strutted through the streets, grinning all the way. He spotted a girl or two blush as they made eye contact, but he continued on his way. He was planning on visiting every stall, every attraction, he wanted to do it all.
But a familiar face caught his eyes, and he just couldn’t help but walk over to her. He tapped her on the shoulder and tipped his hat. “Fancy seeing you again, Miss Elaine Anncroft,” he said with a hint of enjoyment before looking over at the stand they were in front of. “Say, what animal here is your favorite?” he continued with a glint in his eye.

The eye patched noble listened intently, decoding the woman's words in his head. So... this was not some kind of trick? Maybe it was a test? Of course it was a test, you bloody idiot, she was asking if you have affectionate feelings towards her or not! How best to answer this... Thinking back on his own reasons for leaving her at the alter made him hesitate. Looking back, he realized his actions that day had been a mistake. That just goes to show that it was best to think things through before jumping- or running out- on them. There were two possible outcomes that might happen depending upon his response to her inquiry. To start, if he told Ikuze that he had affections for her, his flight from the wedding would might make him look like a coward and a fool to her. If he did tell her he liked her, she would certainly be worth it; she knew about his secret "job" as well as his ander blood and yet here she was, confessing to him. If she truly did not care for him, she would have ratted him out long ago and he would just a bad memory for her. Since no assassins had been trying to end him, he knew that she had not. He could not comprehend why she had yet to tell anyone but he could not deny how grateful he was to her for not doing so. So, to repay her kindness, the right thing was to tell the truth. Taking a deep breath, Stephen looked Ikuze square in the eyes as he responded. "Ikuze, I know this may sound foolish to you, and I know my actions were imprudent, but the reason I-"
His big confession was interrupted by a sing-song voice. Looking over, he spotted the source of the sound to come from Eryn. Well, there goes that moment. Slightly annoyed- but also a little relieved for the temporarily distraction- he directed his attention to the small girl. His eye fell on the large bag of money, which brought a frown to his face. "What do you think you are doing. Do not just callously wave a bag of money like that around for all to see. Some shady character might try to take it from you. You should keep it somewhere safe. Where is Edel, is she not suppose to accompany you to large events such as this?" he inquired, then remembered her last statement. 'Dark red things?' Was this girl really so poorly educated. Letting out an annoyed sigh, he went on to correct her of her folly."Furthermore, these 'dark red things' are flowers called roses. They are given to someone to show someone's appreciation. Depending on the color, they mean different things. Seeing how these are Red roses, you audience must have really adored you performance. That, your your audience has no knowledge what-so-ever on the meaning of flowers and join the common drivel of this uncultured society and just toss whatever silly flower suits their fancy at people" he finished with a slight sniff of disdain. Why did he have to memorize that silly book of flower meanings when the rest of society did not. It was entirely unfair. At least he could play practical jokes on those he did not like by giving them a bouquet of striped carnations, horseshoe geraniums, and foxgloves. A slight smirked played on his face at the thought. Yes, he was distracting himself from the pressing matter of the lovely lady next to him. Yes, he presence made him feel anxious and painfully aware of his awkward tendencies. Queens, why did courtship have to be so worrisome and enjoyable all at the same time.

Clancy chuckled at Iaco's reaction to the time. A small smile played on his face as he answered "Oh, ya know, borin' without ya." With a bashful shrug, he flopped on the edge of Iaco's bed. Iaco didn't need to know the whole truth. Today was not a time to dwell on the negative. It was a joyous day in which he would shower Iaco with anything he wanted. Sure, he did this most the time, but today was the day that he could really get away with it. With a wink, he presented the gifts he had been hiding. A bouquet of tea and pink roses along with the box of chocolates were held out as offerings to the other gentleman. "Gotcha sumthin'! I was gonna buy ya red roses but ah saw these ones an' I couldn't help maself. Hope ya like 'em! Ooo! An' I got ya yer favorite: white chocolates!" he chirped, a proud grin on his face. Yep, he had done pretty well on these gifts.

Ikuze immediately hung her head and groaned, clenching her skirt a touch at the interruption of Stephen's answer to her question before looking to see who it was exactly that had done so. It appeared to be one of the guests from the wedding... although the blue haired girl couldn't recall exactly from where she'd seen her... maybe one of the "snooping" girls who had hung around her door maybe? "Y-Yes... I was the lady in white..." she answered before watching Stephen and the girl interact. The thief gave a sigh before reaching over to lightly bump the girls head with one of her hands. "First rule of busking, which is what singing in the streets is, don't go showing off how much you got. First, its bad manners to the other buskers. Second, like Stephen said, you could wind up getting mugged and robbed. And that's if you're lucky." she said. Ikuze then raised an eyebrow at Stephen's tirade about flowers. "...Seriously? The high ups even have different meanings for different shades of flowers now? Wow... How bored are we supposed to be to come up with that kind of thing?" she asked, a teasing smirk on her face. She then leaned into one of her hands as the corresponding elbow rested on her knee. "Now... enough stalling and killing time. You still have a question to answer. Or do I have to pick the answers from your lips?" the thief reminded the assassin, smirking as she slipped in their occupations into the conversation. Rather quite cleverly she did believe.
