Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

She had been shuffling from foot to foot silently as they did their best to open the doors. Skyes voice came through the door, and her heart squeezed in her chest. They weren't leaving him. Not now that they were so close. While Ikuze worked on the tumblers, Caitlin worried about Skye's condition, she worried about his mobility... what if they beat him? What if they starved him?
Then a womans voice, somewhat familiar to her, came through the door too and she paused her shuffling. Since when did they share cells in solitary confinement? Sort of defeated the purpose didn't it? The fox gave up the key, the thief rigged it together with ice, and the door unlocked. Another reminder was issued and Cait wondered Why everyone was talking to her like she hadn't heard about the explosives and wires.
"Don't gotta tell me twice," Caitlin growled as she rushed into the dark to find and seize Skye. Despite the suggestion to save the hugs for later, she wrapped her arms tightly around him anyway. What if... Oh God... he was so thin. She let out a gasp of shock and immediately began to warm up with her healing magic. A faint glow the color of red apples surrounded her, not unlike Danny's purple hue when she prepared Necromancy.
"Are you hurt? Is anything broken? What can I do to help? We have to hurry, they're going to blow this place up we can't have much time left...Can you walk?"
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin

When the others discovered the explosives, Lasair swore under his breath. Were they really willing to resort that low? Fake an explosion; destroying their own building, just to make the rescue team look bad? It left a bad taste in his mouth. Danny’s right, they had to act now before it got any worse.
Before he could bend down to try and coax the fox, it came forward. A shame, the little critter was cute. When the door opened he stood aside before walking towards the exit Skye mentioned. The general ander might not have been overly involved with the mission, but if nothing else, he were here bearing witness to it. But now wasn’t the time for those thoughts. It was time to leave.

Danny stepped forward andd spoke to interrupt the worried reunion. "Don't bother healing him right now. We might need it later." Danny turned to Lastair. "Fox, carry him. If you can't keep up, give him to someone who can. Commander, we're going. Where is the passageway?"
Danny brushed past the little mob towards the back end of the building. She still maintained her sickly purplaura, ready to let fly spells should the moment call for it.
While everyone else became busy trying to open the door, Gladys took a few steps back and away from them, sinking to the ground to sit against the wall. She put her face in her hands, feeling some new tears stream down. She had done what they asked of her, but now they were going to leave. There was no way she could go with them, and the explosives above them could go off at any minute, meaning that exit wasn’t any better. She was going to die anyway, and she was going to die a traitor to her guild, the one place she thought she could belong. Was avoiding the idea of marriage really worth all this?
It probably wasn’t. Glancing towards the group, she saw the taller of the masked men pick up the sickly prisoner and begin to leave, which meant walking in the opposite direction of her. Why was he kept in such a poor state? And why was one of the guards shoved in the cell with him? More questions about her guild.
The guild she was about to die betraying.

After Caitlin burst into the cell, Lorraine ran out and was surprised to see how many people had come for the rescue. Her eyes scanned every single one before they fell on Felix who was now timidly approaching Lasair and sniffing at his hand. Was it because of the fox mask? "Felix!" The fox flinched away from Lasair then scrambled to Lorraine's side. "We don't have time. We need to go now. I can aid the commander out. All of you, shuffle to the exit." Her eyes fell on Gladys next and she pursed her lips into a thin line before moving over to her. Kneeling before the other army lass, she tried to grab her by the sides and pull her up. "Come on, you're coming too. On your feet or you will die. I will not leave behind a brother or sister."

"We don't have time." Edelweiss told Gladys, plainly, but retaking just a sliver of softness when noticed the blond soldier was curled up on the ground. If she wanted to cry, she could, if she wanted to whimper, she could too - but while moving. They simply didn't have the time to afford on emotions right now, no matter how overwhelming. She didn't question who Lorraine was nor why she had been in Skye's cell. As she grabbed a side of Gladys, the redhead simply took the other side, to more effectively pull her up so they could hurry. And run. "I promised you'd stay unharmed if you helped us. You helped. But now move and come along, or no promises will save you from explosions."
She looked up at the two people above her, not protesting the slightest as they picked her up. The guard she could understand, but this other person? The one with the enemy, why had she come back? Swallowing her pain she nodded, unable to speak but able to move. She stumbled for a moment as she left their grasp, but as she recovered she kept moving, going forward, not looking back. Deciding to live.

It hadn't been long before his arrest that Faolan had discovered Caitlin to be an Ander. He'd given himself up so freely so that Ikuze could remove her from the scene before others learned the truth. For the longest time he'd wondered what her fate had been. It had been a pretty bad stab wound, after all. What if Ikuze hadn't gotten her to safety in time, what if Andronikos had intercepted the two. There had been so many unanswered questions that were now finally realized. He squeezed her as hard as he could, which wasn't much, but quickly let go.
"I'm a bit weak, but with a little support I'm sure we can make it out of here." he spoke. There were other's outside the door, he could hear them talking, but in the dark he still couldn't make out where anyone really was. "Lorraine, you know you have to come with us as well. If you stay here, you'll be executed as a traitor," he hoped she would be following. Though if she chose to stay and die, he was not going to waste the time trying to talk her out of it.
Suddenly an explosion sounded from above causing the room to shake slightly and dust to fall from the ceiling. They were three levels underneath the HQ, so there was still time. "The passage is at the end of this corridor, against the bricks. You'll find one slightly discolored, push it in and the passage should open. It'll take us outside the fence."

Lorraine's brows drew together as she scowled lightly. "I had no intentions of staying," came her reply to Skye's words. She was opinionated and stubborn but not foolish to know the outcome that awaited her. After all, she admitted she overheard the plot to oust the commander from his position. With Gladys now on her feet and Skye out of his cell, the auburn haired woman was free to act on her own but turned her attention upward when the explosion went off. Clenching her jaw, the woman wasted no time rushing down the corridor with Felix at her heels. Before reaching the wall. No light made it difficult to find the discolored brick so while she waited for the others to join her she danced her fingers over the bricks to feel for any that would be the one. Eventually her fingers sank into one and with a creak and groan the passage opened itself. "Everyone through now!" Turning back, she made a rush back for Skye and Caitlin to assist the weakened man along.
Ikuze pressed herself forward towards the tunnel entrance. "One moment." she said, tearing off a strip of her skirt, it having mostly dried by now. She fumbled around before finding Skye's dinner plate from earlier, wound the fabric around the utensils and then used her fire magic, by snapping her fingers, to make them all a small light. "Better to see at least a few inches in front than not at all." she explained before heading into the passage and following it through, holding her make-shift torch out to light the way.

Into the tunnel they went, and Edelweiss nodded gratefully to Ikuze when the blue-haired pirate lit a torch. They'd have to put that light down before reaching outside, lest them having a ton of EIRAL soldiers instantly spotting them leaving the fence, but for now it was really handy to have.

Danny sighed into her mask. They didn't need a torch. If she went in front they could follow her glow... It didn't matter now though. She turned to Lasair and spoke quietly, just to him.
"Your top priority is making sure the Commander gets out of here safely. Not Caitlin, not Edel. Not even me. Just the Commander, you understand?"
Her order given Danny stood at the entryway and waited for everyone to get through.

He moved to help the commander up, only to have Caitlin come and insist on doing it herself. Taking a step back again, he allowed the others forward first, even the overly timid guard, and then paused when he heard Danny’s order.
A vocal reply was not needed, instead he nodded and then turned to push his way to the front. If he refused to be carried, then he would at least be escorted. Taking one of the commander’s arms, he hooked it over his shoulder and took on most of the man’s weight, which wasn’t much but it was something. Moving quickly then, he did his best not to let Skye stumble or fall. They had to get out quickly and without looking back.

She couldn't do it alone, it didn't mean she couldn't offer her aid.
She wasn't alone though, thankfully everyone else seemed more than willing to assist. Lorraine found the brick that would open the secret passage then rushed back to give a hand. Ikuze lit an impromptu torch and they made haste as best they could given the width of the passage and the conditions of their party members. Not only was Danny still riding her adrenaline to put off the pain of her gun shot wound, The commander looked ready to faint and was struggling forward by sheer stubborn willpower and a probably fear of death. Explosive rang above and rubble rained down in clouts from the crude tunnel walls and ceiling. A thin layer of dust filled the stale air around them and made it harder to breathe.
Caitlin didn't say anything. What was there to say? She just hoped they made it to the end before the whole thing caved in.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Skye knew they were moving forward, but he had little notion or though of anything else but escape. More explosions sounded, but they quickly faded to the rear as the party progressed. Skye had no idea what to say, even though the object of his thoughts was so close at hand. Instead tried to get an idea of how far they had left but the second one of the company had lit a torch he'd had to shield his eyes. They burned. He knew, soon, that he'd have to face that burning, but if they were all going to die shortly, he would do so comfortably.
Finally breaking the silence, Skye said the only thing he could think. "Sorry I missed our date." After which, there was only silence again on his part.
Meter after meter they moved without opposition, until Skye could once again smell the undeniable scent of fresh air. To be robbed from such a thing for so long....There was also a twinge of something a bit sickening, though the more he considered this peculiarity, the more sure he was that the scent was being emitted by his own body. The indignity of it all was staggering, but there was much more Alistair needed to answer for.
They were almost out, and whoever exited first would find themselves pushing aside a large grate on the far side of the Rail Road. There would be no opposition, but the blaze from the fires of the old barracks lit the surrounding area as if they'd stepped into some strange twilight period.
