Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Everything Caitlin did now was mechanical... action - reaction. She did her best to shoulder support Skye and work with her rescue party to get him out of sight. They were mobile, rain and fire be damned. They were going to finish this mission. They were going to get Skye to freedom. Anything on top of that would have to wait.
She wasn't emotional now, it was as if that valve had been shut off to her brain. She was the Queen of Rogues in this moment, a methodical pirate, someone who knew what to do in the face of danger.
Move.
Keep Moving.
Fight back.
Move again.
Thats exactly what they did. Licking their wounds and healing the fallen came later, and she would do everything in her power to aid in that venture too. After this rouse, she would be learning every healing spell known to Ander kind. But for the moment, that was gone from her mind. They just had to clear the distance between them and cover.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin

The shot missed. Shooting at the sniper again would be too much of a waste of magic for her tastes. But at least that gave them a few extra seconds to run and gain more distance. The sniper reloaded and fired, and hit Lorraine's fox. In the corner of her mind, Edelweiss knew she'd probably feel sorry for the animal later, as well as glad that it had been just the fox and not one of the people running alongside her who had been deadly hit - but now, she didn't really feel it or anything besides that sense of urgency and rush of adrenaline. A glance at Caitlin made the redhead guess they were sharing moods at the moment. Skye was still out cold, which considering his wounds might be fortunate for him; he'd not have all that long of a time of to remember being in pain later.
Then her mindregistered Ikuze asking whose place was closer to go. "On a straight line, mine. Not smart to head there as we are though; take a detour, we should get to the docks second fastest." They should be barely out of shooting range now, but no worth in slowing down. Skye and Danny needed medical treatment, or the closest of it they could provide. As soon as they reach a safer place to stop at, she'd contact one of CAEsAL informants and ask for first aid things or whatever else they might need. Until then. she'd just keep running. Keep running and don't stop.

The blue-haired thief nodded, before looking around their ragtag group of misfits. "Any Cats? Can ye keep them eyes peeled on our rears, the moment you see a flash of someone, or something, give a shout. Any Wings, could you do a quick check ahead of us please... If EIRAL were willing to blow up their own building to get us, not takin' the chance they wouldn't have set up stuff ahead in case we got out. Sniper earlier proved it." she quickly requested, figuring that at least one of those types of Anders had to be here... if not... well, at least the humans wouldn't be able to do much more than they could... besides the obvious of shoot them.
The only thought in her mind and only action in her body. Walk very much fast and get going and don’t look back and get away and and. Don’t die. She didn’t hear the gunshot. Nor did she see the blood. Nor did she hear the second gunshot. She just kept moving. Towards the trees. That’s where she needed to be. When she would eventually recover from the incident (as much as she could, at least) then she would hate herself for not looking back, for not helping. But right now, in the moment, she could only Run.

Lasair flinched as he heard the gunshot, and then swore lightly as he felt the hit rock through Skye. There was no time to worry about the wound; they had to get moving. Edith Tober and Jakobi Frost should be there waiting for them. Hopefully they’ll help somehow, someway. With the sound of anther shot, Lasair flinched again but kept going when he realized it hadn’t hit him. There was no time to be sad or worry on the others. Skye needed to get out. Danny’s orders.

Lorraine hardly registered the blue haired girl's words. Instead, all she saw was the flicker of flames over the corpse of her best friend before the rain did its job in dousing it as quickly as the fire had begun. A magnified wave of rage swept through her but she said nothing and continued on until they reached the trees. Struggling to contain herself, she fell silent until the blue haired thief spoke. Taking up her single sword, she flipped it around in her hand and turned to her after Edel gave directions. "The lot of you leave and go. I have unfinished business to tend to," she said with careful restraint before approaching Gladys with eyes narrowed. "You and I need to have a word. Alone. We're not going with them," she stated and cast a glance back at the others. "I will catch up but first I am going to return our hostage. Do not bother telling me otherwise, now go." Looking back to Gladys, she pointed with her sword to the opposite end of the forest that the others would be going. "Do not even think of running or screaming."
(If Gladys comes with Lorri, we're going to put the convo in a separate thread so this one can finish with you guys.)

Edelweiss looked back at Loraine for a second, wondering if she, herself, was aware she couldn't return to the EIRALs territory anymore. She had been locked within Skye's cell, for what reasons it might have been; she had helped him out, and joined the team that came for his rescue, no matter how suspicious they might look. While their types might be disguized it was quite obvious they had a major if not total percent of magic users - Anders - comprising that party (that is, disguized until Ikuze asked for cats and birds and the lack of answer delated they had a blatant majority of Generals, but at least they were out of hearing range now). The EIRAL's old headquarders was aflames, and they also shot not only Skye, but also Danny and Lorraine's fox. And she kept running along them. Gladys could return in the role of the escapee hostage... but not Lorraine.
A glance at the brunette though, and Edelweiss sighed. She new. That steely look in her eyes was hard to mistake. That being said... "Please be quick." She also doubted Lorraine would kill Gladys. Otherwise it would have been easier to simply abandon her in the old EIRAL Barracks while she was crying curled up on the floor and leave her fate to be decided by the explosions. And they really needed to send the blond soldier back before she saw too much of the path they'd be taking to hide. Persuading Lorraine to stay close and not go would be a waste of the time and effort they didn't have. So Edelweiss made no objections.

She stumbled a little, but not enough to send her face first into the mud, as Lorraine came up beside her. The words almost didn’t register in her ears but the sword pointed away from the others was enough indication for her. Turning towards that direction, Gladys continued to run. Getting away from the fireworks behind her was also very important right now

Jovena gasped as she was swept off her feet and carried quickly away from the sudden fireworks. The heat from the building as it erupted, and the spray of glass from the windows blowing outward rained down where she had been standing moments ago. She tried to hold on to Andronikos as he carried her a safer distance back from the blaze. Her bloody wrist smeared on the front of his shirt and she frowned - her eyes fixated on the sight, as if she couldn't understand it, but knew undoubtedly that it was somehow wrong.
As for the hand and wrist themselves. They were cold as ice, and going numb. She gripped tighter around his shoulders with her uninjured hand, to feel more secure. He looked down and met her eyes, relaying the rest of his instructions with a wince. Her frown deepened even more.
"But... Why would we want to do that?" She asked. "If they were supposed to stay alive, why did we just blow up our own resources? Who's side are we on - ours or theirs?" Her voice trailed off as a heavy wave of exhaustion set in. "I feel so.... sluggishhhh..." her head rolled to the side and rest against his shoulder.
Andronikos' heart picked up the pace, fluctuating as fear's adrenaline coursed through his veins after he saw what should have been coursing through Jovena's gushing from her slashed wrist. Drum beats pulsed through his ears and his gaze froze over - if anything was going on around him, it could not be noticed. She was out cold and in his arms, her life draining with every passing second, and although his mind was racing, nothing that could solve the problem came to him. Havoc roared as the two sides practiced gurilea tactics behind him, but the true chaos was clasped to his chest, and with one impulsive move, he ran, darting to unscathed barracks where maybe - possibly - a doctor could be found. If not a doctor, then a miracle.

Jade was bored. In some situations, like now, she had learned to see boredom as a good thing. Boredom meant no danger, and a simple moment of waiting before going home. There had been loud, frightening explosion noises outside, but nothing that reached where she was. She didn't leave the secretary's side, nor whoever the secretary might leave her with, until getting permission. They'd probably just wait till things outside settle down and the rain to pass and let her go home - or escort her there, it made no difference to her.
"Be a good girl." Those had been Edelweiss' instructions for her. Once things were done, Jade wasn't to get in trouble. She should be a good girl to the soldiers around. "You're human, of human born. They have no reason to harm you. Be good to them, and return home safe."
Jade hated the military. Everything that had went wrong in her life was because of them - it was their fault her parents were dead, their fault the days she passed alone and hungry. And an Ander had rescued her; gave her shelter, food, and some chance of a future. They, who hated Anders, to her, who was human, made no sense. She hated those uniforms, and by default anyone who wore them. But Edel had asked her to be good, and she would be good. Besides, even they could get sad and hurt too. "Disliking someone is no reason for denying them help when they genuinely need it. That's what cruel people do."
That's why after a short gasp at the sight of a scarred giant carrying a bleeding woman, Jade decided to approach them rather than curl on her seat. "Um," She commented meekly, feeling much like a tiny fawn talking to a hungry lion, but forcing herself to focus on the woman's bleeding wrist instead of the humongous scary man. It had been that lady she had talked to before, along the other blonde one. She wasn't as scary. "My mother was a nurse. I can patch that up... if you let me..." He'd probably prefer to take the woman to a proper medic. But she offered it anyway.

Despite the options presented to them, they're feet moved of their own accord toward the forest. Everyone was seeking the cover of trees and darkness, instinct taking charge despite their brains logic or reasoning. Once in the shadow of tree cover - and out of range of gun fire, the two female soldiers departed and Cait spoke at last.
"I'm a medic." They helped ease Skye to the ground his back against a large oak. He practically slumped to the dirt but they managed to keep him mostly upright. She wiped her face and the back of her hand came away fithy with the smear of his blood, mixed with her sweat, some dirt and rain. It was slick, and bold in color. She looked at it a moment, then fell to her knees beside him with a big huff.
"Let me see you...." She coaxed gently to Skye, turning the side of his face up toward her and brushing aside the fall of long uncut hair. Inside she recoiled, her lunges squeezed out the air inside and she shuddered. He'd never see again from this eye.
She bit her lip. Her hands started to glow that faint apple red. She hovered them over the seared mark across his face, her fingertips pressing around the wound to keep her steady. She wanted to hurl but she had to stay calm. His beautiful face, hi's beautiful kind eyes, they were beyond her powers to heal. She could only do so much, just like she could only do so much for Danny.
The heat in her palms spread outward and began to re-knit the severed skin of his face. It would scar, and the eye would heal on the surface, but any nerve damages to the visual cortex would be more than she could reconstruct. The skin would scar, but at least it would cease to bleed. "I should have learned more.. I should have learned it all..." She whimpered under her breath to herself. (Health II)

"Cait," Edelweiss crouched down next to the Pirate Queen, sitting on her own ankles while she watched her friend struggling to heal Skye the best possible. "healing magic isn't the only thing he needs. He needs food, and clothes and a place to sleep and recover." A place to sleep that was more alike to a bed or at least a hammock rather than the humid after-rain forest.
"We can't stop here, you know." The redhead stood up again and placed a hand on Caitlin's shoulder, giving it a friendly squeeze. "He's alive, that's the most important - and Lodan has this odd fashion trend about guys with eyepatches, once it's covered it won't look so bad. If anything, at least it'll help him not be recognized."

A miracle. Or, the closest thing to it, at least. Andronikos stared, fear gripping his eyes, down at the woman below. He didn't recognize her. Could she be trusted? What if she was- It didn't matter. "ple...please." He murmured and held Jovena's limp form out towards her.

Jade hoped this giant man wasn't going to drop the bleeding woman on her. Her dainty little frame was barely able to carry a child of half her size, and even less a fully grown adult, even though said adult woman isn't particularly fat. But as Andronikos simply held Jovena's unconscious body towards her, Jade took the extra half step she needed to get close enough and inspected Jovena's injury. Her wrist was cut, but she didn't see any other wounds. It was a clean single slash too. Her pulse wasn't dangerously weak, though it was lower than normal. She had probably fainted from bloodloss because it stayed untreated and kept continuously bleeding out, so they just needed to close the cut to avoid her going into shock.
"It's ok, she's not dying, just needing this wrapped and immobilized." Jade announced meekly after the quick inspection, using her small fingers to hold the skin in the cut closed while her free hand searched around her own dress' pockets for anything of first aid she had. She usually carried something in case herself got hurt or someone else, nothing too special, but mainly now that she's been requested to do something important. After a couple seconds she fold half a roll of bandages wrapped in a plastic bag in the inner pocket of her jacket - no cottom or alcohol for disinfecting the cut, no needle and string for stitches, but at least they weren't wet, and that was as clean as they would get. It would be better than ripping off one of her own sleeves too. She ended up using all those bandages at once. A first part gingerly wrapped around Jovena's cut to keep the cut closed and stop the bleeding, and the rest of it wrapped in a thicker fashion around the woman's wrist (and looping around her thumb) to make sure she wouldn't be moving it. "There, this will do for now... I couldn't do stitches under though so she really shouldn't move that wrist till you have to change the bandages." Jade sighed. She had done it; been a good girl. Would Edel be happy at her, or angry? She wanted to go home and find out but was also nervous to. "And hmm, for the blood she lost, if you don't have any here in an infirmary or anything... Give her a lot of orange juice or lemonade to drink when she wakes up. And it should ache when she's awake, so... And you can take her to an actual doctor too now that she's not bleeding anymore. There are some good ones nearby."
