Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Vladov managed to find Jovena and as he was getting closer, she shot. That's all he needed to know. Vlad readied his rifle and followed where the woman had fired. Witches... he raised his sniper to take aim but quickly switched targets when he saw Jovena being attacked. The bigger one on the ground was easier to hit. Less risk of wounding Jovena. He raised his rifle, aimed, and fired. The human... thing, attacking Jovena collapsed to the ground as its skull shattered from the gunshot.

The ground shook. A skeleton burst forth. Jovena screamed bloody fraking murder. Her voice rang in an unreal kind of way, hitting a note she never would have dreamed of. She took a step back and tried to raise her gun again to fire, forgetting in that moment that she needed to reload. The skeleton grabbed for the gun and tried to wrestle it from her. She would have shook it off if not for the imp that leapt on her back. She screamed when a second gun shot fired. Jovena Dropped her rifle, thinking it had been hers, and her hands went to her stomach to check if she'd been hit. The gun clattered to the ground - as did the remains of the skeleton. Her stomach was fine and her hands slid to her hips to pull the knives.
"Get off, get off of me!" She shouted, buckling to her knees, she dropped and rolled. She tried to peg the beastie to the ground, scrape it from her shoulders and stab it with her blades but as she reached with her right hand to hold it down, it struggled and she only ended up slicing her own wrist with the knife in her left hand when she struck. "GAhh!!" She cringed

Lasair had just rejoined the group when Danny was shot. Ikuze had ran ahead of him, and he was in charge of guarding the rear, however when the shot hit Danny; it seemed to have come out of nowhere. That is, until he spotted the guard not too far off. Lasair cursed to himself in much the same manner Danny had.
He debated his options, biting the inside of his cheek enough to cause pain; but it helped. As Danny’s screams and shouts quieted down, she turned around and used necromancy to attack the guard. Good, that should hold her off. He went to her guild leader’s side, helping her stand a moment. Cait was calling back for them to keep moving, and using Danny’s name. Not good for secrecy; not good at all.
As the guard stopped screaming, someone shot the skeleton’s head off. Also not good, there were more of them. “Can you walk?” he asked the one who had been shot. If the answer were yes, Lasair would turn and pull her away from the guards, towards Caitlin and the others. Anything to distance her from the shooting. If the answer were no, he’d pick up Danny and get moving; like he did on that day in the streets. That imp would only hold her off for a little while longer. They needed to move.

Gladys started to rouse from Edel’s poking and proding, but it wasn’t an immediate response. She was groggy, and everything felt like a fog. Upon hearing ‘human shield’ she woke up a bit more, confused and having forgotten the terrifying event that had just happened to her.
“What’s going on?” she asked, wincing as she tried to touch her head. Her whole body ached, her crotch was wet, and she had no idea why. But when she saw the scary mask coating Danny’s face, the memory came back to her. And she didn’t like it. The person holding her didn’t seem so scary though, so she turned her attention to them. “Don’t kill me,” she squeaked, unsure what would happen to her next given that she was still alive.

"You shall stay unharmed as long as you cooperate." Edelweiss replied simply, voice still steely, not letting go of Gladys' collar but moving so that she'd be standing behind Gladys instead of in front of her.

Gladys didn’t want to die. She was very certain she might die if she didn’t cooperate. She might even die if she did cooperate. One was taught never to turn the enemy. But she really didn’t want to die.
So instead she held up her hands and took a few steps to where Jovena was fighting with the imp, her face still wet and every step she took was shaking, as if her whole body was shivering. But it wasn’t from the cold, it was from the fear. “D-d-don’t sh-sh-sh-shoot,” she stammered, her voice cracking as she did so. Would Jovena recognize her? Would she care that she was taken captive? Either way, if they turned to keep moving, she would in fact lead them to where Skye was. As much as she knew she shouldn’t.

Caitlin didn't have time for this.... She threw open the doors to the old barracks and braced herself for a speed or health spell, whichever was needed if they were waiting inside to intercept her. With all the poor luck they'd had thus far, it was a breath of fresh air not to be shot into a holey vessel, and not the spiritual sort. Still she hugged the walls and scanned the wide open space for movement. This was probably the last place she wanted to linger. The foyer was tall and wide, with duel stairs rising to the second level, multiple doors on both floors that could pose a threat. She remembered which ones led to the obstacle training course, so she could rule those out... which though would lead her to the dungeon, basement, cellar, cells anything even remotely close?
Lasair and Danny, had they pursued her, would find her the only other living body in the space when they entered, at least for the time being anyway. She still had that health spell itching in the back of her brain, now would be as good a time as any to use it on Danny... if she'd just catch up...
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin

Danny tossed her head angrily as she moved towards the gunner, before being stopped by Edel stepping in front of her. Her eyes focussed on the read head before she snarled, spat out a curse, and followed Caitlin. Her fury was there, but Edel's little trick managed to not only dismss the pain, but remind her she had a job. She was the little group's guardian. She had to make sure they all got out of there alive.
Bathed in the glow of a spell ready to be cast at a moment's notice, Danny stalked into the building Caitlin had just entered.
Ikuze followed close behind Caitlin, keeping her eyes open and peeled for any more signs of trouble. Given the nonsense so far, she was half expecting a patrol of troops to make their appearance at any moment now. When they reached the hallway she pressed herself to the other side of the wall across from Caitlin, peering around and... sniffing the air for some reason. She wrinkled her nose and sighed. "Thought maybe the cells would stink or something. Personally, I'm running out of ideas." the thief grumbled quietly. She turned her focus onto their "escort" for the evening. "Don't suppose you know where the cells are from here?" she asked the blonde soldier, making a note to try and wipe her mind of this little incursion later. Less this girl remembered about them the better.

A screech echoed hollow within Andronikos' chest, familiar and terrifying. "Jo-JOVENA!" He called as he clenched his teeth and spun on his heel towards the horrifying cry. It seemed, however, that there was a person in his way, a soldier of sorts. Adrenaline had propelled him forward even so, and just as he was about to barrel through them, they cried desperately for him to stop. Ice trickled across his skin and he stood stuck in time. The new directions cralwed in slow, slimy paths into his ears. Let them leave? Let the prisoners go? But why? What-... A sniper. A sniper! Jo had a gun didn't she? A rifle of sorts, right? "Get outta my way." He growled and used the back of his forearm to push the advisory away, running straight towards the place where Jovena had screamed.

She could swear she heard her name, just when she'd finally put the dead back to sleep. Gladys stammered for them to cease fire and Jove looked up from where she was kneeling on the ground... her left hand was clenched around her right wrist, trying to stop the flow of blood from where she'd cut herself. Her gun was still laying on the ground, within arms reach, but in need of reloading. The chances of her grabbing, loading, aiming and firing were slim before they did something to one of them in return.
Vlad still had his gun though, but even it would require reloading, and they seemed to be at a stalemate. "Get outta my way." Someone growled, and Jove's heart leapt. She didn't take her eyes off of the enemies, but she really wanted to. Andronikos was here and she felt better for it.
"Don't shoot, they have a hostage," she shouted in a steady voice, masking the pain from her wrist bleeding out. She'd gouged it pretty deeply by trying to stab the ghoul. Magic seemed so unfair, it was no wonder the EIRAL's took the threat so seriously. I'm a soldier first, an individual second... she told herself, staying focused on the situation before feeling sorry for herself. After all its not like the skeleton stabbed her... though had he taken the gun, he would definitely have used it as a weapon (regardless of bullets.)
Gladys looked out, realizing that no one was going to shoot anymore. That was a relief. But the feeling was short lived when she caught sight of Andro. He’d yell at her for this later, she knew as much. And he’d probably even do it if she were dead. She turned then and walked into the Old Barracks, following where the sword lady had went.
Every step she took shook as her body continued to quake in fear. Cooperate and she’ll be okay. That’s the thought she anchored on as she walked right past the other people towards one of the doors. She had no reason to hide or sneak through one of the buildings she called home. She went up to the door and opened it, but didn’t go through just yet. No, she waited a moment in hesitation, biting her lip so much it pained her. She didn’t to do this. She really shouldn’t. But there was no other way.
Gladys walked through the doorway, and then continued on towards the hallway she had just come from to summon Andronikos.

RECAP:
Cait, Danny, Las, and Ikuze ran out of the back of HQ building when Gladys ran out the front of the Old Barracks, and they all saw each other. Gladys took off running, Edel came around the outside of the HQ Building in time to see Gladys sprinting, and used Speed to catch her. Cait threatened Gladys, Jove shot Danny, Danny raised bones from the earth.
Cait said "frak all, we're pressing on" and entered the Old barracks building, hugging the wall waiting for the others to catch up. Danny went in, fuming and presumably with Lasair at her side. Ikuze followed, putting her back to the wall. Last in the door was Edel with hostage Gladys.
That leaves Vlad, Jovena, and Andronikos outside; Skye and Lorraine are still in the cell; and "B" team (Edith and Jak) are still outside the fence (possibly to help with our exit route?)
Caitlin noted Danny's entry, as expected, though a little tougher than she imagined herself to be if the roles were reversed. "Over here," she hissed. Ikuze's back hit the wall next to Caitlin and she asked for some ideas. Cait nodded, noting the ideas Ikuze herself had, and put them aside for later. "Did you lock the door?" Caitlin asked the last two when they caught up, the soldier didn't even pause as she marched on. They were anything but covert at this point and they had to put as many barriers between them and the soldiers as possible. She nodded toward the door meaningfully, hoping someone would catch her drift. As for Danny...
Caitlin approached the glowing girl as she seethed with pain and anger. "Please don't fight this," Caitlin said, looking her eye to eye behind the mask. Then Cait put her hands on Danny's wounded shoulder, palms open against the entry and exit wounds. Focusing, She pulled from her memory bank the strongest application of Health II. The spell emulated from her palms like heat from a coal and sunk into Danny's skin. The shoulder began to repair itself from the outside - but that was all it did... re-knitting the skin together like a time-lapsed scab. The interior damage was beyond her abilities with magic, the torn muscle would need time. One more trip to the skills merchant and Caitlin could have fixed this. She pressed her lips together in self loathing. She should have been better prepared. "That should stop the bleeding at least," she muttered. Edelweiss kept her pace behind Gladys like a looming shadow, and therefore didn't lock the door. She could see the blonde soldier was scared and intimidated, but conscious and obedient - and the redhead wanted to keep all those characteristics as they were. "Lock it please." She spoke to both Ikuze and Lasair, whomever of them can get to the door first, because herself was busy, Danny injured and Caitlin busy with Danny's injury. It seemed like the friendly kind Edel had stayed outside in the storm; she hadn't sounded like ordering them while speaking, but she also couldn't allow Gladys to think either of them were soft nor disorganized. Which meant she needed to show her Epikuro, not Edelweiss, and that was fine for herself. Keep her guard up and the soldier moving. Keep her guiding the way fast, within reach, easily able to be turned into a shield again if they bump into anyone else unrequited. They had to get Skye before anything else, and any plans for heading back out would come as they go.

Danny licked her lips and let out a hiss as she felt her skin knitting back together. Weird as anything else she'd felt. "...Thanks..." Danny's eyes roamed the room before following Edel and her hostage. Where were the rest of the guards? There should be more of them. The alarm had been blaring and Danny knew there were more than just the three Greens than she'd seen. So why didn't the group have to fight tooth and claw for every foot? Maybe someone else knew...
"Where are the rest of the guards? This has been too easy."
