Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Vladov finished reloading his rifle as he approached Jovena unhurriedly. She was alive. That was enough. "Is this beink your first time fightink witches? You are havink done a good job, but we cannot be ignorink them because they are havink a hostage. She was knowink what beink EIRAL is meanink, und she is beink a member of die EIRAL." Vlad shouldered his rifle before turning to continue the chase, but at a walking pace. No sense rushing into a trap.
"Are we knowink what they are beink after? If that is beink so, we can be settink up a kill zone und cuttink them down before they can be makink it to safety, ja?"

The general ander followed along much like a shadow and stuck to Danny’s side. When Edel called to lock the door, he turned around and did so, paying no mind to whatever he could see outside. He shook his cloak slightly, flinging the rain off of it, and followed the others through the room. His steps paused when he noticed a wire of sorts. Well there were plenty of wires in the room but this one seemed to be out of place; like it didn’t really belong there.
It was dark and hard to see so he squinted his eyes as he looked at it, taking a step away from Danny and towards it. “Hey,” he called in his off-tone voice, just barely loud enough for the others to hear, and pointed at the thing. Maybe they could figure out what was up with it.
As the door was locked from the inside, a pair of EIRAL engineers showed up and began sealing the door to the old barracks. A couple planks nailed into place and a few large pieces of wood set into the ground and pressed against the doors. Alistair's orders to them had been clear. No one was to escape through the front door.
"Hey Vlad, hey Jovena. I wouldn't stay too close to this building if I were you. Everyone is pulling back to the HQ." One of the engineers spoke. He was tall and well built with close cropped blond hair and piercing blue eyes. While he kept primarily to himself. He'd had a meal or two at the same table as Vlad and Jove. He didn't want them getting hurt when the fireworks started. "Oh, and Vlad, if they manage to get out without getting barbecued, big boss says to shoot Skye." He bowed his head and diappeared back into the HQ building with his cohort.

It wasn't just a misplaced wire. There was a smell in the air, a smell that was unrelated to the dust of an old building or the stuffy sour scent of an underground prison, faint yet ever present, somewht common at the Theater District... fireworks, firecrackers, and the weapons of some assassins...
"The place smells of gunpownder." Edelweiss muttered as realization came, and cast an even more attentive gaze at Gladys. "Must be a trap. They want to either explode us or crush us under exploded debris." Which explained why the place was deserted for starters. And either the blonde soldier didn't know and hald walked right into it along them, or she did know and was twice as scared because she had walked right into it along them. "Speed up." She told the soldier. "Run as fast as you can. We get Skye, we get out - we survive, so do you, we die, you do too."

What? Gunpowder? Gladys had to pause, a hand reaching out to steady herself against the wall. She would have fainted again but she tried to fight it, squeezing her eyes closed at the room spun for a few moments. The intruders hadn’t put that there, there was no way. But she didn’t know about it; what was going on here exactly?
She recovered as quickly as she could manage and kept moving. She didn’t know much of anything about Skye other than he was a murdering traitor. What did these people want with him? Moving as quickly as she could (which wasn’t overly fast given that she was quaking with fear the whole time) she led them to the underground hallway and a door. A streak of red caught her vision, but only for a moment. She figured she was hallucinating, and hadn’t actually seen a real fox down here.

Caitlin didn't linger, she was right behind Gladys and Edel as they descended the stairs. Unable to resist as they came to the ground floor, Caitlin began to call out "Skye? Skye!" and broke out in a run past the regular cells till she reached solitary confinement. She drew up short just as she got to the solid heavy door because of a fox. An actual Fox, in the basement of the barracks. Were these people crazy? An animal like that didn't belong here.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin

Danny walked into the prison block and looked around. Still no guards, but the gunpowder explained that. She followed Caitlin closely before looking down at the fox. Where had she seen this before... doesn't matter. The fox was out of place. Meant Skye was on the other side. She looked at Caitlin. "What now? They wouldn't have left the key lying around." Danny shrugged her shoulders. Or, well, tried to. Her left arm refused to respond. Strange...

"Cait, sorry to disturb a long-yearned touching meeting, but we'll have to get him out of the actual building before we can relax. Whatever that wacky lead wanted with incriminating him won't end well for us if we take too long." Edelweiss turned her attention to the fox as everyone else did, but she focused more on what was on the fox's mouth than the fact the orange animal was there. Was that a key? Or the remains of one. Better bet and pray it was the right one.
"Psssst, nice critter, pretty critter, give me that key." She leaned down, carefully approaching the fox. "We need to open that door."
Vlad watched the engineer as he relayed the warning and the orders. What was his name again? Cadderly? Coverly? Something like that. What was important were the orders. Kill Faolan Skye should he escape. That's all the big man needed. He hefted his rifle and moved off towards the fence so he could see the entire building when it lit up. Kill Faolan Skye. No. The order was just to shoot him. That would be enough. If he crippled Skye, the man wouldn't be a problem anymore.

Jovena looked up at the newest arrival seconds after the remaining Ander's and their hostage slipped into the building. Perfect timing, she thought, now they were matched 5 against 5 (if they were counting Gladys on their side in a counter strike). At least that's what she thought until he gave the stand down order.
"What?" And the rest of the information followed. Vlad didn't question it, he just hefted his weapon and marched off to do as ordered. Jovena's eyes darted back to the old barracks. Their training facilities were in there, weapons, obstacle courses... prisoners. They couldn't just blow it up, that was murder. and a great deal of destruction to historical property. Her face fell in a grim frown. Lodanites didn't respect historical things. She didn't have to leave the West Indies to figure that one out.
Jovena forced herself to stand without using her hands to push off the ground. She had to keep a tight grip on her wrist to stem the flow of blood as it fell freely from the gash. Still she stared at the building. There was a knawing feeling in her gutt but she didn't voice her doubts. This could be the only way... what if the Ander's were just too powerful to kill in hand to hand combat? There was so much she didn't know, but the few demonstrations she'd had tonight gave her imagination something to chew on. her "5 against 5" train of thought meant Andronikos, Jovena, Vlad, Coverly(?), and Gladys vs. Edel, Ikuze, Cait, Danny, and Lasair
He almost dropped the sword he was carrying when he heard her voice. It was akin to a deaf person hearing music for the first time. It was a voice he'd thought never to hear again. It also filled him with a sense of despair. "Cait!' he cried, pressing himself against the door as if he could feel her through it. "It's a trap, you have to get out of here!"
Alistair would never have let them get this close otherwise. With the might of the EIRAL, he could have overrun any intruder. Why else would the man leave him alone this long if not to draw out those who stood against him. It was the only thing that made sense. If anyone knew the true capabilities of the EIRAL it was Skye, and this just didn't make any sense. Especially with Lorraine being tossed in the cell with him. Obviously they wanted to dispose of her as well.
"If you go now, there's a secret passage at the end of the cell block. It should be clear, Alistair never took much of an interest in the history of this place," All of that was too much for his vocal chords and he ended his sentence with a severe coughing fit.
Ikuze approached the cell door and looked at the lock carefully, then back to the fox that Edel was trying to coax. "If that's the key in there, good luck... drat thing looks like a deep one." she said, indicating the lock. When they heard Skye on the other side, she chuckled. "Figured that one out already. Besides, Cap'n ain't quite ready to see you dead yet. Now shut up in there so I can concentrate." said the thief as she opened up the heel of her boot, revealing her lockpicking kit. She opened the kit and selected a pair of her tools carefully, before then starting to get to work.
As she worked she pressed her ear against the mechanism several times, biting her lower lip. "Okay, this is a liiittle trickier than I first thought... triple tumble set up in here. Doable, but..." she muttered to herself before looking to the two MI members in the room. "Either of you know the high ice and fire spells? If so, can you get to work on the hinges whilst I try this lock some more? Maybe break the door down that way if we can't get through the lock normally Heat the hinge, then freeze, then heat again. Try to get the metal to crack. Red, you keep workin' on the fox with that key." she quickly said before getting back to work. Time was not their ally so she had to hope that nobody tried to argue with her and just got on with the job at hand.

"That would take too long though, and we can't just keep casting fire and ice endlessly..." Then Edelweiss had idea. For putting those key pieces back together at least. They already knew what cell Skye was kept, and Skye could show them that secret escape route he talked of. "...Ikuze, can you freeze these key halves together?" Of course, they needed the fox to release the key first.

Silence had enveloped them for so long that Lorraine was unsure if the fighting was still going or not. Still she kept herself steeled and her weapon in hand at the ready. Voices outside of hers and Sky's joined cell suddenly joined the sounds of their breathing shortly before she could hear Felix growl. The beast cowered away from Edel as she approached. "Felix!" Lowering her weapon at the sound of Caitlin's voice, she also moved to the cell's door. "Felix, give her the key. One of you is Ander, yes? Can you weld it back together? The key is broke." At her command Felix hesitated by dancing from one set of paws to the other before approaching Edel to spit the key pieces into her hand.
Ikuze looked to Edel then at the fox handing over the key pieces. "Dunno, but I can give it a shot..." she said, collecting the key pieces from the red-head and looking at them carefully, trying to find where exactly they lines up with each other. "Alright... here goes nothing..." she said before she spat on both of the broken key ends, then placed them together and used her Frostmancy I spell. A thin film of ice formed around them and she looked at it then back at the keyhole. "Here's hoping the ice doesn't screw it up." she said. "My fire magic ain't that hot." The thief put the key into the door, and then gave it a twist.
The door unlocks! The thief quickly opened the door and got out of the way. "Cait, Skye, can we hold the long happy sad hugs and kiss session for later before you two dive into each other?" the blue haired thief quickly said. "We do kinda have to get outta here. Preferably alive."
