Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to all The winter had been long and harsh, but now things were finally starting to clear up and resemble something akin to spring. It was still chilly outside, but at least the sun was beginning to shine some days without there being snow on the ground.
Walking through the district that he called home, Lasair glanced around, hoping to run into someone he knew. Many people had retreated into their homes for the winter, and although some emerged for the festival of hearts, not all did. Either way, he wanted to be social today, whether it be with an old friend, new friend, or even a stranger.

Elaine walked down the street clinging to a flower and trying to draw in her notebook as she walked. She had two pens between her teeth and another behind her ear. Her attention was completely consumed by her activity. She was walking right towards Lasair but had no idea. Approaching him she looked up just as his shadow came into view above her book. She smiled around the pencils in surprise and glee as the shadow turned into her handsome friend. She waved, she wasn't able to talk yet. Busing herself with tying the ribbon back around her books and freeing her voice.

Spotting Elaine walking towards him, Lasair raised a hand to wave at her. However this action went unnoticed for her nose was down at her book. He smiled at this, finding it amusing how one could be in something they love. As he continued to walk up to her, she finally noticed him and smiled and tried to free her hands to speak to him. “Why hello Elaine, it is a pleasure to see you again,” he said with a short bow. “Do you need any help with that?” He held his hand out, offering assistance.

Elaine nodded vigorously handing over the sketchbook. She took the pens from between her teeth and smiled. "Hello Lasair! Fantastic seeing you as well. If you'll just hold that for a moment." Elaine banded all of them up and stuffed them down in her bag. She carefully put the flower into a glass jar and took her notebook back placing them in the satchel. "Lovely day isn't it?" She asked folding the flap back over and readjusting the strap.

Unable to stop himself from giggling, Lasair found it adorable how Elaine tried to get everything in order. “It is a lovely day indeed. It’s nice that spring is finally arriving. Do you have any plans for how you want to enjoy it this year?” he continued to grin as he spoke.

Elaine made a face at him for his giggles. She may be a bit of neat freak but she never lost anything. "Yes it is! I majorly plan is to draw and paint everything in sight." Elaine laughed. "And maybe get to spend more time with Keefe. He's become a good friend." A soft blush covered her cheeks when she said this. "What about yourself? Any special ideas?"

“Art is a wonderfully impressive talent, I wish you luck with it. As well as with Keefe.” Lasair winked at the mention of the lad’s name. “Me? I plan to spend most of the time outside. Get to know the town a bit better, see how it’s changed over the years.” He turned towards the sky then, watching a cluster of clouds drift by. It was rather nice that the weather was finally looking better, but he wasn’t sure what to completely make of it just yet.

"It's also a decent hobby." Elaine grinned. His wink did not go unnoticed but she wasn't about to press that point. Although she did remember she needed to go drop off that next piece soon. Or she could wait and make something new and decide between the two. "Town has changed a bit since I was little. Sixteen years isn't much though if your look at the entire timeline. But it sounds like an interesting quest." Elaine glanced around at the small portion of city they could see. It looked very similar to the next street. "I hope you manage to see more than what I do. All I see is the cobblestones and the sides of buildings and homes I know nothing about."

“When I look around, I see changes. Comparisons, differences, similarities. A lot of towns use the same building materials, but the way in which they use them is different. As much as I want to see Lodan as itself, I can’t help but see all the towns I’ve traveled through. It can be a bit distracting. In a way, I envy the ability to just see it as it is.” He hoped Elaine was enjoy the city more than he did.

"It's not exactly a gift. I'd love to see the history behind them. It would be nice to know how we were influenced by others." Elaine kicked at a stone under her feet. "So how much do you like Lodan so far?" The quirky girl asked with a grin. She didn't know how much he had become familiar with. Elaine herself had run all around the city throughout her life but she never exactly saw it from a tourist perspective. She had only used her knowledge to map routes around the city.

“I love the city,” he answered with a soft smile. “It is my home, after all. I don’t plan on leaving again for a long time. What about you? You sound curious enough. Would you want to go traveling around, see the world, or as much of it as you can at least?” There were some places that didn't welcome the anders, what with them being alien magical beings and all. Then again, he didn't know whether Elaine was human or not. She got along easily enough and could pass as human at least.

"I'd love to go exploring the world. But I'm too attached to home to go. My family is here and for that I don't want to leave. So are all my friends." Elaine glanced with a smile at Lasair. "And I know that I'd make new friends elsewhere as well but it wouldn't be the same as Lodan." The dark haired girl leaned casually up against the nearest wall. She felt like she was part of the city and at the same time she felt she was so different. "I don't understand why anyone would ever want to leave their home forever." She thought of a few people she had known to have traveled. But a select few never came home.

“Forever? Now, that I don’t understand either. I was gone for, what? Four, maybe five years? But I came back. My family is here as well, but they didn’t mind me going. They agreed with me when I said it’d be a great experience. I can’t possibly see someone leaving forever when they still have a tie back here. Now, if they left and found a lover and a new family, that’s different. But traveling just to see the world…there comes a time when you stop seeing.” He hadn’t meant to go on so much about it, but Elaine had a point and it sparked thought in him. He rubbed his chin as he continued to think, but showed no signs of speaking up again. It was a curious idea, leaving and never coming back. He just couldn’t see it in himself.

"I know it would tear my family apart if I left for good. You'd have to give me a really good reason to make me leave." Elaine noticed Lasair had stopped talking. She stepped closer raised an eyebrow? "Lasair? Lasair?" She waved her hand in front of his face. "You still there?"

Taken aback from a sudden hand waving in front of him, Lasair stood up a bit straighter and smiled. “Yes, yes I’m still here. Just lost in thought for a moment. You gave me something curious to think about is all; the whole prospect of leaving for good. It never really occurred to me before.” He smiled at Elaine, enjoying her company even more so now that she had given him something for his mind to munch on.
