Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Polinya perked up at the suggestion and clapped her hands. “Yes, yes! I wanna see. I wanna see!” The girl squealed, and Cadence laughed. “Hey, Poli, can you cover your ears for a second? Aunty Candy wants to talk to Aunt Feeeehhhh—?” “Fiddles.” “Yes, Aunt Fiddles. Aunt Candy needs to talk business, so just cover your ears for a second— good girl.” Polinya covered her ears, though, she kept them open some. Cadence ordered her to try a bit harder, and pouting, the girld did as she was told. “Fair, response ma’am. But, you know, it’s not something strange. Most people think it is, but, frankly, it’s quite helpful— and healthy. It actually relieves quite a bit of pain during the woman’s cycle— and childbirth. Plus, helps the relationship quite a bit, too. Which, I’m not a lady for rumors, lassy, but if I have my facts straight, you and the boss are quite the pair.” Pointing her thumb to the shop across the street, Cadence gave a toothy grin. “Gone for quite some time wasn’t he? Thought dead? Worried ol’ Werl quite a bit, but must have done a number on you. Ah, sorry, I’m blabbering again. Must be my old nerves. Gotta prove myself to the new boss after all. Best not be incurring the wrath of his missy though.” Cadence relayed aloud, laughing some, but, again, she shrugged. “Still, if you need any stress relieving, you get a free try on me. After all, leading a whole guild and being with another leader must not be a relaxin honeymoon, eh?”

What started with a raised eyebrow from Edelweiss ended as a tired sigh. Although Cadence's... "offer" was new, it wasn't the first comment on her personal affairs she got from people she barely knew, and quite frankly that was both frustrating and unpleasant. May the gossipers gossip at will, but 'free' or not, she'd rather not have to hear any more 'relaxing' suggestions than she'd already received for the past 3 months. "The offer is appreciated, but I must refuse. I'd rather not have anything that's not attached to a person come within my body," Just voicing the very thougts she had a short moment ago. "besides I don't really care for the social expectations of it as much as the personal meaning it carries - and that being so I'll stick with the organic version. And to other stress-relieving methods while the first isn't very well deserved."
Other methods including music, or walking around the city, or sending Lasair a note and nerding about magic for hours on end - listed in increasing rate of efficience, respectively. Actually, after this morning, she might as well do all three things through the rest of the day.
"Like I said," Amon replied with a tired and slightly irritated sigh. "I'm trusting you with a permanent leadership position, and with that, I feel the need to let you in on some of my secrets. We're gonna meet one of them. But first, let's go get your daughter and Edel."
"So," he continued, holding the door open. "You coming or what?"

A whale of laughter erupted from Cadence, startling Polinya who jumped. Banging the table, Cadence gave a toothy grin. “I like you, bosslady. Smart lass you are.” Cadence hummed, lounging back some. “Amon’s a lucky man. Hopefully he recognizes that.” The older woman hummed, though, she did wink. “However in the future, the offer still stands mil’lady.” And with that, Polinya whined. “You’re ignoring me.” “Oh hush, little one.” Cadence jokingly mocked, picking up Polinya to set her on her lap. “No one can ignore a precious lady like yerself.”
With mouth gaping, Wern nodded, stumbling some, even tripping at one point, as he followed the taller man, unsure of what more “secrets” Wern could handle from the guild leader. His other secrets had already proved terrifying. What more did he keep hidden? And frankly, would he want Polinya to see them? Frowning, Wern pondered that, if someway they could rearrange this “secret” reveal for another day. Though, maybe they didn’t have to. Not as Wern spotted a familiar moppy bed of greying hair. “Wait, i-is that Cadence?” Wern squeaked aloud, trailing closely behind Amon.

Admitedly, the sudden bolt of laughter startled Edelweiss as well, just the redhead woman barely flinched and knew how to control her own facial expressions much better than a 5 years old little girl would.
"Sorry, Poli. We didn't mean to scare you." And as much as that was true, she'd also be thankful if Cadence doesn't scare anyone else too. Though... Wern was rather easy to unintentionally startle, even by normal people doing and saying normal things, so... the most one could hope is the poor chubby soul wouldn't suffer a heart attack when catches up to them.
She could see him and Amon finally leaving the shop too, and raised a hand in a short wave.

"Hm?" Amon questioned as he returned Edel's wave. Then he noticed the person across from her. Cadence was it? Judging from from Wern's reaction, he knew her in such a way that made him nervous, which could mean one of two things:
Either she is actually a pleasant person, and Wern is just overreacting like usual, or she would be another unique individual...
Amon could only pray that it was the former and the increasing headache was due to something else.
"Hey Edel, sorry to interrupt your conversation," Amon said as he poked his head into the shop, giving a brief nod of greeting to Cadence. "But you might want to get that ice cream to go; there's something I need to show you."
Maybe he could get away without talking to this woman...

"That's alright, you're not interrupting anything." Except for Cadence's energetic offers (in front of a 5 years old little girl) of testing artificial penises, which made Edelweiss actually sigh in frank relief to have had that conversation disturbed. Maybe having two more adults nearby the older woman with the box would actually know how to better control her 'enthusiasm'... probably not. But dreaming is free and pillows are cheap.
"Have you finished" 'traumatizing Wern with random spurts of insane laughter', no, she's not saying that, it's way too honest. "your business talk?" Though she had no idea what is it Amon wanted to show her... or them, since it seemed Wern is also tagging along still. Guessing would probably be just frying a lot of perfectly usable braincells with how unpredictable he'd been in the more recent events, so she figured she'd just follow and see what happens. But first had to get Polinya's icecream to go, a sundae for herself and maybe one for Wern too because the poor potato sure looked like he needed something to chill and sweeten his day right then. Edelweiss could understand that feeling very well at the moment.
Well, Amon would discover the true nature of Cadence shortly. Once the human and mechanical eye landed on the elder woman, she got up, only to turn quickly back to grab her box. “Oh, hello there— Amon, it must be. Can tell by yer eye— I have something to discuss with you. Something very interesting— can I take a moment of your time, laddie?” Cadence inquired, leaning the box against her hip as she stared at the taller man, their height, nearly matching, but, he was a bit taller then her. Oh well. Nothing that a pair of combo boots couldn’t fix, but maybe that was better. Didn’t want to be intimidating him too soon. Or at all. Frankly, she was fine with the “not too soon part.”
Wern, at the sight of Cadence jumping up, let out a light “Oh No” only to be stopped short as Polinya squealed, running over to Wern to hug him. “Werni, Aunt Fiddles is getting me ice cream,” The child squealed, and Wern frowned, looking to Edelweiss with both thanks and surprise. “E-Edelweiss you didn’t have to— b-but I appreciate it.” Though, knowing what could lay in the box and knowing that Polinya was in the presence of such things did not make Wern comfortable at all. Even less comfortable as it seemed Cadence wanted to auction such wares to Amon. In an ice cream parlor. Cogs. What was the world coming to? In regards to Edelweiss question, Wern popped his head in as well. “I—I do believe so, b-but, um, Amon wants to show us something.” As he just said. Wern wasn’t helping, as usual, but um. Polinya, yes, Polinya. Bending over, the larger man picked up the girl who giggled slightly, hugging the man, only to gaze slightly at Amon, shyness, coming over her. “Is that the man? The one you tell me about in the stories?” The headscarfed girl inquired, and looking at the taller man more closely, she could see his metal arm. It had to be him— the hero that Werni told her about before bed. The man with the mechanical arm. Suddenly, she squirmed in Werni’s grasp, muttering about “Being too old to be carried” and steadily, Wern put her down. Yet, once on the ground, the girl stared at the taller man, a blush, coasting over her face as she hid behind Wern. How strange, Wern thought, only to return to the conversation at hand.

...and (to continue the train of thought), he could get a day either alone, or with Edel, but that day wasn't come anytime soon, was it?
"Yeah, we're done for now," Amon replied with a smile and a quick wink under his bangs. Turning to Cadence however, he couldn't help but sigh at the sight of the box, knowing exactly what she was going to ask.
"I'm sorry, but I'm a bit preoccupied at the moment," he replied, rubbing the back of his neck. "If you don't mind, I can give you my full attention tomorrow, how is that?"
At the same time, he couldn't help but roll his eyes when he heard what the little girl exclaimed to Wern. What stories was he telling this kid?

"It's alright, I had said I would, right?" Edelweiss replied calmly and simply to Wern's statement that she didn't need to buy icecream for Polinya. There was no sense in going to an icecream shop to get icecream and not get icecream afterall. Crouching down to not tower to much over the (once again on the floor) little girl, the redhead woman reached out the cold treat and held it until the child takes it from her hand, before standing up again and offering another to the chubby man. "Here you go."
That makes it a cone for Polinya, a large sundae for herself, a small one for Wern and... no way she's buying Cadence anything. Sorry but no. It seemed like Amon wasn't going to choose anything either, so... "Do you want the strawberry?" She asked pointing at the little red thing that had came on top of her sundae. That little wooden spoon wasn't exactly the best thing to eat it with anyway. At least he seemed to be in a good mood. Or enjoing the fact he could actually wink at least.
Full attention tomorrow? Well, she couldn’t pass that up. “Alright laddie. I’ll see you tomorrow then. Nine o’clock sound 'right? I’m an early riser. Gotta water my plants— ah, that reminds me. Edelweiss, lass, if you ever need medicinal plants, or just plants, come to my shop. I got two, you see. My hobby and this one. It’s called the Greenhouse. Has a Giant Green house.” Cadence described, and from her hidden place Polinya poked her little head out.
“I-it’s really pretty.” The girl squeaked, though, she quickly hid when Amon looked to her. But then Aunt Fiddles gave her icecream, and letting out a squeak, she took the treat, saying thank you as she licked the tiny cone. Wern thanked her as well, and was surprised when she handed him a cone.
“O-oh my. T-thank you.” The larger man stuttered, blushing slightly as he accepted the ice cream. H-he had not had ice cream in a very long while. S-such treats were expensive after all, and if he was going to buy anything, it was going to be for Poli.
Yeesh...tomorrow was gonna be a long day...in the meantime...
"Sure thing~" Amon replied, nabbing the sweet morsel. "Anyways..." he said between bites. "Let's get going shall we?"
He led them outside and started walking down the street. Eventually, the crowds thinned out, and at the same time, the scenery started to change and become worn down, a sign that they were entering the poorer sides of the city.
"So, Wern," Amon said as soon as the group was alone. "As I was saying before: sometimes Anders will come to my shop to buy toys for my kids. And as I said, I'll throw them a discount and give them a non-treated product, though I don't think I explained why. You see: due to a number of unfortunate circumstances, prior to my 'demise,' I was forced to give EIRAL the location of the materials used to make the anti-magic metals, and unfortunately, even though they give me quite a substantial amount, it is still very expensive. And since, as stated before, no matter the amount of treatment I give, machines will still eventually break down in an Ander's touch; and thus, I give untreated toys to Anders at a discounted rate. And as said before, even with a discount, my stuff is expensive. So why, pray tell, do you think they still come to me, despite knowing that they are paying near top dollar for something that won't function anymore in their and/or their child's possession?"

And so she was back on the duty of distracting Polinya... or even bodyguarding Polinya, since they were enclosing the borders of the Hovel by now, because having a very hyperactive little kid who becomes even more hyperactive when bored freely running around that area without watching her would stop being just irresponsible and become actually idiotic.
Well, better try and pick her up, if Wern doesn't do it first and/or she doesn't complain of being too old for being held again.

Upon their agreement, Cadence bid them all adieu. Wern and Polinya both waved while eating their ice cream, Wern, timid to get done as soon as possible in order to not, well, be stuffing his face in front of the others. After all, he was, um, quite prone to messes, and had, well, little napkins to spare. Though, another reason was it was harder to keep Polinya close by while trying to juggle an ice cream. The girl, even while being amused by a cone had a tendency to wander off, and more then once Wern had to race toward her, ushering her not to split from the rest of the group. Though, it seemed that Edelweiss understood and briskly picked Polinya up, to which, Wern thanked her for. It was a load off his back, in two tenses. One, now he wasn’t worried about where Polinya would go, or have to struggle to hold her for more then a few minutes at a time. Although he had some muscle, to hold a child up for longer then a few minutes was not one of his skill-sets.
When Amon addressed Wern, Wern shivered, confused as to the reason why his name had been called. Had Amon being talking? Oh, no, wait, he just began. Though, at the questions that Amon was firing at him, he wondered if he had missed something after all. “I, um, don’t know?” Wern squeaked, and Polinya spoke up for him. “Because you’re a hero and fix them for free!” Polinya squeaked as well, though, this time she hid her face into Aunt Fiddlers chest, and whatever else was exposed, she hid with her scarf. At this point, Wern frowned, confused as to why Polinya was acting so strangely.

"I..." Amon couldn't help but turn around and look at Wern. What kind of stories had he been feeding this child?!
"Although not wrong under certain circumstances, that is not the correct answer in this case," he replied with a smile to the little girl. "No, the answer is pride, short and simple. My name (for some cog awful reason) seems to be synonymous with high quality. Coincidentally, it is the more wealthy Anders who are the ones who actually buy from my shop. So what about the more humble ones, or the poor souls who wandered into my store and have to choose between entertaining their kids and getting enough food?"
"Simple: I turn them away, and direct them to here." Here, was in fact, an older, seemingly rundown store at the edge between the hovel and the merchant's district, with all of its windows boarded up and the paint barely telling customers of its true wares. And without allowing them to make any form of conclusion, he opened the door and led them inside.
Upon entering the store, they were greeted by...junk. Loads of it. Bits of broken machinery here and there, though oddly organized in a meaningful manner, not immediately seen upon initial inspection.
"Welcome to-"
"AMON!!!"
"-my second worst mistake of my life..." Amon muttered as a thin, dark skinned lad rushed around the counter and hugged the mechanic, followed by a swift smack to the back of his head, all while carefully avoiding any merchandise.
"Took you long enough! But hey, bono malum superate!" the lad replied, flashing some fairly sharp canines with a wide smile.
