Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

“Why do we need to go back to the beach?” As he asked the question he took a step back from the water, letting his hand fall to the side. No, slipping would not be nice. Better to be safe. He inched closer to Viktor instead, following his gaze to the beautiful colors that were in the sky. “It’s so colorful,” he said quietly. “You can’t see sunsets like this by the city.”

The mechanic had to blink at the question. What did people usually do at a beach...? "Uh, well," he rubbed the back of his neck and gave a small shrug. "I figured we were going to swim--I mean, that as the plan on the boat, right? I mean, I guess we could swim down at the lake below but I hear that has potential for critters to swim up your--you know what, it's best not to say," he muttered as his other hand instinctively went to cover his crotch at the thought. "Besides, the water on the beach will be warmer than this water at night. As for the colors, yeah, sadly you can't. Lodan produces too much steam and smog I think. Pollutes the air. They're still primitive here."

Oh right. He had sort of forgotten about swimming; selective memory and all that. He didn’t want to swim in the lake either, and his warning about critters only made him shiver and grip his own nether region. “Right, ocean is better.” His eyes lingered on the setting colors a few moments longer before turning to look back at the direction they came from. “I like the forest at night anyway.”

For a long moment Viktor remained silent while he studied Lasair and then a frown tugged at his lips as he lowered his gaze to the rocks. Darkness ascended rather quickly on them as it had not been far off from when they first arrived to the waterfall. Finally after the silence, he spoke up and asked, "Lasair, are you comfortable? If you don't want to swim, I won't make you. Friends don't make friends do something they don't want to. I don't mind skipping out and just staying here or some place else."

“…” Lasair was quiet for a few moments, scratching the back of his head. And then he spoke up as he stood up, reaching for Viktor’s arm to lead him towards the beach. “I want to swim.” A moment later his mask faded and he sighed, saying quietly under his breath, “But not skinny dipping…”

A small, soft smile crept over the mechanic's features before he stood with the tug of his arm. As Lasair turned away to guide him, Viktor reached his other hand out to clamp down on the other's shoulder and give him a gentle squeeze before leaning in to murmur, "That is fair." Withdrawing his hand, he walked alongside the ander as they made their way down though they had to be careful as to avoid slipping on any rocks are tripping over any cracks in the path. When they finally reached the bottom of the hill, another precarious trip awaited them of trying to find their way back toward the shore. Several times the mechanic almost tripped but caught himself either on the tree or with Lasair, each time apologizing. Eventually the foliage break through to allow the ocean into view. The many stars in the sky didn't reflect off the water as the surface was too disturbed with waves crashing onto the shore though the moon strove to do so.
When they finally emerged completely, Viktor grinned at the sight of the ocean as he always enjoyed water. "You brought some shorts to swim in, right," he turned to ask with a curious brow raised. "I think I have a spare if not," he murmured and then withdrew his arm to rummage through his satchel in search of the article of clothing without so much as waiting for the other to reply.

The ander released a breath he forgot he was holding. Viktor was okay with it? Even though he sort of promised? Well no matter. They descended the hill quietly; Lasair chuckling every time the human tripped and never failed to help catch him. How the red head avoided tripping was anyone’s guess, but it probably had something to do with his guild. The sounds of the night forest were pleasant to his ears; he enjoyed the fact that animals were calling to one another and there was the occasional rustling in the leaves as well. A whole lot more activity than the forest of home.
“Yeah, I have a pair,” he answered as they came to the beach. Grabbing his own bag, he reached in and pulled them out. “Ready to swim then?” The usual smile returned to his features.

"Soon as I get changed," he replied and set his satchel down before tossing the shorts down on top of it. They weren't going to skinny dip, no, but that just meant in the stripping process, Viktor would have to put shorts on. The mechanic was not all too shy or modest, so he didn't hesitate in pulling off his gloves, his bandanna, his jacket, his shirt, or kicking off his boots. However, he was at least polite enough to pause when he reached his pants so that he may turn away from the ander before slipping them off. He wore nothing beneath them leaving his backside bare. Snatching up his shorts, he slipped them on and glanced back at Lasair to see if he'd changed yet. "Ready," he asked him in turn.

“Right,” Lasair replied, realizing he needed to change as well. For him, the transition was quick. Clothes fell to the ground as shorts were snatched up and he was all changed before Viktor glanced back at him. A light color was on his face but perhaps the moonlight was dim enough to hide it. His nerves were acting up a little, but the MI member was determined to have a good time tonight. Walking towards the mechanic, he gestured to the open ocean. “I’m ready if you are.” The water came up and lapped at their feet, leaving a warm feeling and wet sand behind as it receded back into the ocean, only to come back again moments later. Viktor was right; the water was gentle and warm.

"Ready," he confirmed with a grin then reached for Lasair's wrist to lead the other into the water. When submerged enough, Viktor would release Lasair in favor of swimming out before moving to lay on his back so that he may float along with the gentle roll of the waves. "The stars and moon look nice tonight--say, you know why this water's so warm? I heard a long time ago that there was something beneath the water like volcanic activity or a hot spot or something like that that does it. Never went down to see so myself but if that were true I don't think I'd want to. I find it hard to believe it's volcanic activity though."

Taking a step forward, he entered the water slowly, smiling softly as he allowed Viktor to pull him in further. While the mechanic fell to his back and floated along, Lasair stayed upright and gazed up at the stars. “Could be a volcano, but who could really know? I love how clear the sky is. No tainted color from the smog and steam. Just crisp air that doesn’t make me cough if I get the wrong breath of it.” He drifted over to Viktor and stayed beside him. “It’s wonderful here, as you’re wonderful too.”

"You'd never figure there was this many stars in Lodan, huh?" His gaze drifted to Lasair as he drew closer and then he smiled at the other redhead. "You're pretty great yourself, mate. Hey, look at the sky," he said with a flick of his eyes to gesture to the sky. "See that bright star up there, some astronomer said it was supposed to be a planet cause it moves around throughout the night and when you look at it through a telescope, it don't look like normal stars. See the red star up there? It's part of a neat constellation--looks like a bear," he traced out the bear's shape with a finger.

“No, never,” he answered in a whisper about seeing so many stars, watching the mechanic’s hand as he traced out shapes in the stars. The bit about the planet sounded far-fetched, but it could be possible. Lasair found himself drifting closer to Viktor, to see from the right angle he was pointing at. Their heads nearly touched as the ander squinted at the sky, trying to picture the creature from the scattered dots. The picture sort of acquired a form, but it was still strained. Coming back to Earth, Lasair glanced at the human, realizing just how close they were. A light color returned to his face as he found himself unable to look away from the soft face. “You know a lot about the sky, huh?” he asked, trying to relieve his sudden tension.

With the way he floated water filled his ears but it went deeper into the canal when he turned his head to look at Lasair and found the other to be rather close to him. Viktor blinked and lifted his brows as he studied the other than smiled softly. Was Lassy blushing? He'd read enough of his mother's romance novels to figure this was where a kiss should happen but he'd stray from that as he glanced back up at the sky. "Aye, suppose you can say that. My dad was a scientist as well as an engineer--he used to say that science is the difference that makes an engineer separate from just a simple mechanic, you know? I picked up some of the things he knew about the sky from there--apparently you can use it to navigate, too."

“Your father sounds like a good man,” he said quietly, pulling himself away from Viktor some. What was he doing? What were they doing? What kind of night would this become? Without any other notion, Lasair took a breath and stuck his head under the water, swimming downward to try and get a better view at the world below. Things were tense; he needed a distraction, a way to relieve things. Going under water was the only thing he could come up with, so that’s where he dove.
