Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

"Hey, you don't gotta be sorry. Things happen--silly it does, but they happen." With a sigh, he pushed himself back up to fold his arms over the railing of the boat then peered down at the water as he kicked his feet lightly. "I don't see why we can't still spend time together. Ain't no one's business after all if we just hang out. Not like we'd do something out in public anyway, right?" To Viktor, they were currently just friends... right? Maybe? He wasn't sure. Was he hoping for just friends? Maybe. More? Maybe. With a slight shake of his head, he lured himself out of his thoughts and smiled at Lasair. "Food, waterfall, then swimming. Would you rather find an inn or camp out?"

Remaining on the deck a moment longer, he sighed himself and sat up, looking out at the water. “I don’t see anything wrong with being friends, and neither should anyone else. What (if anything) goes on behind closed doors is no one else’s business.” Tapping Viktor’s boot with his own, he smiled a bit, shaking himself out of the serious talk. “Think I’d prefer camping out. Get as much of that fresh air as possible. And it’s better for privacy.”

"Privacy and fresh air it is then. I think I like that idea as well. I don't think we'll have too much trouble with others either at least in the place we'll be going. More people tend to like to stay by the town since everything is closer to access right there. Hey, look," He extended a hand out to point toward the water's surface. Beneath it, dolphins swam near the surface. "Heh, that's pretty amazin' if I do say so myself..."

Gazing down at the sea creatures, a soft smile came to his face. “Wow, they’re not afraid of the boat. Do you want to go look to the looking glass now? Maybe we can catch a glimpse of them down there.” Pulling his legs up from the edge, he stood up and stretched a little before offering a hand and a smile to Viktor. Even if he didn’t want to head down, a change of scenery would be nice now, as if leaving the place would mean leaving behind those touchy topics.

Chuckling, Viktor accepted the hand and stood then ushered the other out of the small walk way toward the housing structure of the ferry. "They aren't really afraid of ships 'cause few do them harm. Dolphins are intelligent, I think. I hope some are down below but I ain't all too sure if they would be," he continued speaking as he stepped around Lasair to lead him into the building down to the last deck where a round glass was placed in the floor of the boat surrounded by railings and such to keep people out. Huddled around were several people making it slightly difficult to get close, but Viktor squeezed his way in then beckoned Lasair over as he made room for the other. Below on the other side of the glass fish swam by and they could get a glimpse of some of the coral reefs below. The water was surprisingly clear though as it progressed downward it grew darker and harder to see.

Lasair followed him down into the ship, holding off their conversation until they reached the bottom. It was kinda nice to have someone else do all the shouldering through the crowd; that was usually the ander’s task given that he was the one leader people to wonderful places. But a switch of roles was refreshing, and when they finally came to the edge of the glass, he peered over it and stared at all the sea critters below. The boat seemed to lazily drift by as the fish stayed still, some even looking up at all the staring faces. “Gotta admit, this is something I haven't seen before.” A pause, as another thought came to his mind. “Hey, Viktor. How long do you think it’ll be until we get there?”

"This is my favorite part about these trips, honestly." He hummed at the inquiry of how long it would take to reach their destination and then he pushed himself to straighten before stepping away from the rail. "Well, it's pretty far, so we won't reach the island until close to sunset and since we left sometime in the afternoon... would you say we've been on the boat an hour or so? A little over? We've still got a ways to go. If you'd like, we can get you that nap and I'll wake you when we get there. Might not be a bad idea since we'll have plenty to do at night when we get there."

“Told ya, I’m not tired,” he chuckled. “I only just woke up, hmm, an hour, maybe? Before you showed up at my place. But let’s grab something to eat. See if we can make the time pass a little quicker.” Taking one last look at the glass, he turned to explore the ship, seeing what they could do until it reached the island.
Several hours later…
Viktor and Lasair stood on the deck, watching as the island came into view and then continued to get closer and closer until the ship reached the shore. “Finally, some dry land. This boat is nice and all, but I’m eager to get off it and do all these wonderful things you described. How bout you?” He offered the mechanic an eager grin as he looked towards the exit ramp.

Viktor had accompanied the other throughout the hours they spent passing the time until the whistle of the ferry blew to signal land ahead. A wide grin spread over the mechanic's features as the land came into view and once they had docked, Viktor was quick to try and usher Lasair out with the crowd. "Of course I'm excited! Haven't been here in almost... a little over a year now? I wonder if all the restaurants are still the same and all the pubs, the entertainment... Did you know they have sword dances and fire dances?" The dock gave way to a more open city with short, one story buildings though some of the inns were several stories high. The structures were made mostly from wood, mud, and stone though had a certain charm to them with their primary aesthetic including arches.
Greenery and water surrounded the area as befitting the island though anyone who knew of Masaa would know it seemed particularly out of place to the country of desert. Along the dirt path and on the side, several food carts and stands were placed and the redhead human led he way toward one with meat and chicken skewered onto a pole while it rotated. "Chicken or beef... or flafel," he asked Lasair before ordering himself a chicken shawarma. "To go," he added on with Lasair's answer and waited for the man to slice off servings of the chunks on the pole. Turning back to the ander, Viktor continued to grin. "What do you want to do first? We can watch shows, we can go through the shops if you want souvenirs. I think they have some games around here," as he continued to list off the possibilities, he slipped some coin to the man behind the stand in exchange for their food and gestured for Lasair to lead the way.

“I sorta remember the dancers,” Lasair answered with a smile. Looking out over the muddy land, he found himself being dragged off the ship and into the city. The land had a sort of earthy beauty to it; something that really contrasted the industrial city of Lodan. The lush greenery and the soft mud made this place feel nicer, similar to the Borderland Forest but not quite so scary.
It was only one side to the coin however, as the desert in the distance could faintly be seen. That environment was harsh and unforgiving even to those who called it home. Nothing like the plush land they were in now. The ander gave a polite smile to the foodcart man before saying “Chicken as well.” After receiving the food he looked to Viktor with a lopsided grin. “Whatever you’d like to do first. I’m just happy to be with you,” he chimed in a light tone.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hey now, Lassy. I've been here plenty of times, got the food, and paid for the ferry. The least you can do is pick what we do," he teased gently and nudged the other red head with his elbow. "But honestly, I do rather prefer you to pick. After all, I've done everything here at least once and have had my fill. You should have the honors of trying everything at least once as well. Go on, pick." With his free hand, he gestured to their surrounding area before flashing a grin at Lasair. During their conversation, Viktor was already leading the way toward the beaches in case the other insisted he did not wish to pick.

He laughed off Viktor’s protest. “Alright, alright. Well, we were just stuck on a small ship for ages on end so I don’t really want to sit still; so no shows yet. As for shopping, I’m very sure we’d just end up trying to buy the place for each other. And I’m not sure bout games. But look! The beaches are right here.” The human’s nudging to one direction had been noticed, and Lasair decided it was probably the best option. Who needed a city when there was another lovely place to spend time at?

"You make valid points with all of that and oh how convenient the beach is, huh?" A chuckle left him as he led the way out along the shore. A short trek away and around the curve of the coast made the village already out of sight. As they walked, Viktor kept himself quiet by devouring his food but as soon as they'd walked a considerable amount of time--and once his meal was gone--the mechanic turned to head into the foliage where the wildlife grew and became verdant greens. Inside, it was quite a trek of watching where one should step with rocks and vines aiming to trip any traveler that was not diligent in their caution. Eventually the path evened out into a hillside and the roaring of water drowned out everything else. A smile tugged at Viktor's face as he glanced back at Lasair then pressed on. As they climbed, the sound grew deafening until they rounded a moss covered rock that jutted out over many others. Fresh water gushed out from the top of the hillside and splashed over the edge of the rock on which they stood allowing for enough space to walk or even sit beneath. If they kept going, the path would continue around and down again. "Neat ain't it?" By now, darkness was quickly sweeping in. "Can't stay long though... should get back to the beach so we don't trip on anything in here."

The Ander ate his food quietly as he walked with Viktor, opting to walk in silence rather than try and keep up a conversation while trying not to fall flat on his face. The beach had been pretty, but the forest was different. It wasn’t anything like the forest that bordered Lodan. This place had sounds that didn’t sound like nightmare fuel. There were birds and frogs and gentle sounds that didn’t give the impression that something was out to make you lunch. He liked it, but at the same time, it made him miss the Borderland forest in a way. And odd way, but it was sort of like missing. When the forest gave way to a waterfall, his calm expression morphing into one of excitement. He looked out at the waterfall gushing down before them with the same expression. “This is amazing. Must we leave so soon? We just got here.” Reaching out, he dipped his fingers into the water, letting the chilly liquid fill his hand a moment before it fell down once more.

"Well, we can stay longer if you'd like, but it's going to be a pain in the arse to try and get back to the beach. Just know that." Even as he gave out the light hearted warning, he was chuckling and moving to sit on a nearby boulder to watch Lasair and his fascination for the beauty they happened on. Certainly it was well known of though few bothered to come out so late and most of them local folk who'd seen the place many times. Newer travelers were usually clueless save for several adventurous wanderers that didn't care as much for the beaches and preferred the wildlife of the land. "I'd be careful there, Lasair. The rocks get real slippery and it'll be an unpleasant experience falling down there." His gaze peered out from the side of the fall to watch the orange hues of the sky slowly fading into pinks and purples. On the other side, dark blues were beginning to creep in.
