Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

He meant swimming off the coast. And the water would be a fantastic temperature to not die. And the thing about monsters was grasping to begin with, let’s be honest. A sign almost escaped his lips but he stopped it, masking it with a light cough instead. “Have you been swimming at this place before? Do you know if it’s safe?” Talking his way out of it wouldn’t work. Swearing mentally, he began to think through options for later how to get out of it. At least in the time until the moment time, he could enjoy his time with sir Tor, fully clothed time.

"Of course I've been there before. Several times actually. Inland of the island, there's a beautiful waterfall that you can actually walk underneath as it spills out over the side. You can sit beneath it and watch the sunset--which is my favorite part, but sometimes it's hard to get that spot to yourself since lots of people happen on it. Don't worry, it'll be fine, Lasair. I won't let anyone hurt you." He finally glanced over to Lasair rather than watching the water lap at the boat as they traveled. "Are you not comfortable with going? If not, we can go back to Lodan." Masaa didn't have the best reputation, he was aware, and the island wasn't too far off. Who knew if that was what bothered the magic wielding red head.

After listening to the explanation over the destination, Lasair reached over and patted him on the should. “I want to be here, Tor. Hm, doesn’t sound as good out loud as it does in my head. Lemme start over.” He retracted his hand and then patted his shoulder again. “I want to be here, Viktor. And don’t worry about protecting me. If anything, I’ll be fighting the other people off of you. You make it sound like I’m defenseless. But here’s a secret: I’m not.” He leaned over to whisper that last part for some added effect. His insecurities were shoved aside when he heard about how great this place was. The waterfall, the sunset, it all sounded great. And it wasn’t where he expected to end up when he woke up this morning.

"Fighting people off of me, huh?" That gave him a good chuckle as he scooted closer to Lasair in order to throw an arm around him. That whisper had sent a shiver down his spine and he couldn't help but smile brightly. "You know, I think my favorite part about the island is the Masaanian food we'll get to have. " Maybe it was just the swimming that peeved Lasair. He did after all seem more comfortable with fire. So instead, he changed the subject. "They got a real nice restaurant on the beach. Nope, he just really loved food. "I didn't think you were defenseless by the way. But it's more romantic to say that I'll be there for you."

“The food? Hmm, I can kinda remember it. I’ll be nice to have it again though.” He looked out at the waves as the arm wrapped around him, scooting closer himself to give the other man an easier time. “Well since you paid for the trip, and are coming on the trip without your guardian bro, please do allow me to protect you on this occasion. It’s the least I can do. The most however, is a whole other story.” A playful grin lit up his features as he looked over at (Vik)Tor. The restaurant sounded nice too, but that waterfall is what his mind wrapped around.

Viktor was a touch confused and curious as he peered over Lasair. "What's the most you can do," he asked as his brows knitted together, the question completely innocent and only to sate his curiosity. "And, hey, maybe you can meet Nikolai when he's not just playing guardian. He's a good chat at times but he can be a little know it all bugger--quite cheeky, really. You're a lil cheeky too, though," he laughed at that then looked back out over the water. They were making good time but as boats and ferries do, they seemed to be moving slow. "You know, it's a bit early to probably be thinking about it but if this goes well, we should do it again."

Reaching out, Lasair grabbed some of the railing and then leaned back, stretching his arms out as he looked at the sky. “I’d like to have a nice conversation some time. One that isn’t preceded by eerily climbing up stairs in the middle of the night.” Turning his head, he looked out at the horizon for a moment before changing his mind to keep eyes on Vik. “The most I could do is limited only by your creativity.” Emphasis on the ‘your.’ “Doing this again certainly isn’t the most, but it is something we could do perhaps.”

"They were pretty eerie, huh? Those stairs... well, alright. No stairs." He'd kept his arm loosely over Lasair's shoulder as he himself leaned over to peer down at the water though he didn't turn away from it. "That's not a good statement, you know--limiting yourself to what I can do. I found that some people don't like doing things I do and vice versa. You've got to have limits, right? I wouldn't want to just take advantage of you. Or step you out of your area of comfort."

“I mean that phrase in a different light, but I suppose you have a point. Usually my comforts don’t play into it all, but if they do well, I get out of there real quick.” A melancholy chuckle escape him. “I guess I should reconsider that phrase, huh? Heck a lot of the things I say can backfire on me if I’m not careful. But I do it anyway.”

"What kind of light did you mean it in? Even so, it's good you get out of where ever you are that makes you uncomfortable, but I would hope that if I ever did make you uncomfortable, you don't just leave and will tell me. It's never my goal to do that, but I'm kind of a gabbin' idiot sometimes and don't realize things. I think I like you, Lasair, and I don't know how you'll take that, but I do consider you a friend and that means I want things to be equal and fair for you too." He removed his arm from Lasair in order to fold both of them behind his head as he laid back to stare at the sky. The hue was a light blue and there were few clouds in the sky. Some birds flew over head but otherwise it was almost empty.

“You only think you like me?” He brought his hands to his chest, making a dramatic motion as he fell down beside Viktor. “Your words, they wound me so.” The back of his hand came to his forehead, as if shielding him from the pain. And then the act ended, leaving him giggling. “I just mean it in the way that I wanna do whatever will make ‘em happiest.” Or would it have been better to say "be" instead of "do" ?

The mechanic looked to the red head and his smile faded into a small one before going altogether when he looked back up at the sky. "To be honest, I'm not sure what I feel towards you. There's a lot of mixed feelings because I wanted to meet you again after meeting you that first night but I can't help but feel like it ain't a good idea--not that is anything against you or something. Just that in the end something bad's going to happen. You know what's really been bothering me though? You're ander but I can't see a damned difference between you and a human. Just that you can use magic and the color of your blood is different. It's weird, ain't it? Those little differences. My dad used to be scared o' Anders... said that it was because of their magic that they were dangerous but after having one work with him for awhile he realized it wasn't any different from humans. You guys use magic to do lots of good things too. Just like technology can be good and bad," he was rambling now, the subject changing quite a bit and he couldn't seem to stop himself though now that he realized he was, he fell silent and pressed his lips together. "You being ander isn't why I think this'll be bad."

A few moments of silence passed as the words sunk in. He wasn’t afraid of anders? And for such a simple reason? The other night felt so real all of a sudden, like he could remember it better despite the veil the drugs had put up. But he said the ander thing wasn’t why he felt the night wouldn’t end well. “Is it cuz we’re both men?” he asked, focusing his eyes on a passing cloud. Nobody had said anything to them before, but that might be because of the fact they look similar to each other. Just enough to pass as half siblings, or maybe more like cousins. “Being anders one thing. There’s lots of half breeds running about the streets. But…” he trailed off, unsure of how to say “but two men ain’t gonna make a half breed” in a nicer way. He left the phrase unanswered instead.

There was a long pause from the mechanic this time before he closed his eyes and heaved a sigh. "Yeah," he finally answered and removed his arms from behind his hand to cross over his chest. "I wasn't really ever into guys, mind you. Used to date only women until I realized that you couldn't not like any one gender. My cousin Vinny though... he knew he liked guys and then his sister Rachel, she liked girls. Lodan's a bit more lenient about it but where my cousins lived, less so. Lots of bad things happened to 'em. I won't go into the details but just 'cause Lodan isn't as severe don't mean it's wildly accepted, you know? In the end, don't think I'd want to see you hurt either." Viktor chewed on his lip after and occasionally teased the ring in his mouth with his tongue. "Don't mean I wouldn't want to spend time with you, though. Screw what other people think. We look close enough in relation." That hadn't gone unnoticed by him either save he was darker skinned than Lasair.

“Sorry bout your cousins.” It wasn’t much, but it was some kind of comfort. “I’ve had a few run ins with trouble myself. Been run out of towns of few times. If I was lucky, they wouldn’t pull out the guns and try to shoot at me as I ran.” Another dry laugh followed. “Usually it was flirting a bit too much with some important guy’s daughter, but that wasn’t every time. Sometimes I’d get a cut. Or flirt with someone a little less than lady like. It’s funny to look back on it now but in the moment was a different story.” He shifted his gaze to the man next to him. “I’d still like to spend time with you, no matter the penalty.” Although, spending some time apart wouldn’t be a bad idea either. Too much time together would draw the wrong kind of attention.
