Caitlin had procrastinated as long as she could... really, it had been 4 days, if she kept hiding in her fathers house any longer Levi might either A) actually show up at the barons estate or B) take over command of her flag ship and have all the pirates sky diving on the merchant floaters. Either thought made her groan and hide her face in her hands. She laid in her bed staring at the ceiling. Her comfy baroness's bed, with its satin sheets, double comforters and goose feather pillows. Yeah, he was right about her bed, her blankets, all of it.
She sighed and sat up, staring at the vanity in the corner. On it were a couple bottles of perfume, some jewel handled brushes and other things. She assessed them for a moment, wondering how many similar objects she and her men (and women) had stolen, traded or sold in the less orthodox markets around the region. She skipped brushing her hair, choosing to pull it over her shoulder and pleat it in a loose messy braid instead. Then she crossed to her wardrobe and pulled out her common wear. It was time to visit the sky harbor.
She rode the pallet up to the higher piers for the larger vessels. Today the lift was crowded, all four corners holding up a man or woman in its tiny little square. If anyone panicked at the height they were rising, the slightest freak out would shove her or any one of the others off the unsafe contraption and they'd fall to their deaths. thankfully no one had an anxiety attack and they made it safely to the top of the tower. She stepped lightly to her ship, ducking busy crew-members carrying heaven's only knew what all, and climbed the onramp. The sailor on deck handed her a clipboard for signing in and she just stared at him a moment. Took him a second to realize who she was and by the time he did he snatched the clipboard back and gave a funky salute. Thank God he wasn't military or he'd be standing at attention for hours for that horrendous display of military bearing.
"Relax kid, we're sailors, not soldiers. Do me a favor and let navigation know I'm here." He nodded vigorously and dropped his clipboard on the ramp in his haste. The boy doubled back, got the clipboard, saluted again in that horribly manner, then ran off a second time. She bit her cheek to keep from laughing. Well, she was here now. The question was how long until Levi realized it.
