Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
"Glad you like it," Amon replied, kissing Edel on the head.
"Happy Birthday, honey bunny."

"Thanks." She replied with a weak chuckle, then passed the following couple moments just relaxing while reclined against him and reading some more. The book was genuinely interesting, and keeping her mood at least placid for the time being - and as long as she managed to keep an at least neutral face he'd not randomly tickle her again, right. When she was happy it could be fun, but when not... it changed nothing other than making her feel like she didn't even have the right to look sad in her own home. Just a cheap cheat to get external laughter.
Given a longer stretch of silence though, she added: "Are you going to stay for lunch? Or should we go somewhere?"

"Hrm...to be honest, I blocked off the whole day all for you..." Amon replied. "So whatever birthday girl wants, birthday girl gets!"

"How about you call the "birthday girl" by name?" She asked with a bit of a teasing quip, just a little bit amused while reaching out a hand to poke his cheek.
"Just let me know when you get hungry (or bored)." Because right then she was rather comfortable and settled on the idea of just keeping reading and not moving from there for as long as affordable.
[Timeskip to February 21th]
Well, for a change the redhead was the one walking into another person's place while holding stuff, a not-exactly-small paperbag hooked in one of her arms as she pushed the shop's entrance open. She'd picked a time when it was likely to be less customer traffic around, but one never knows. Hopefully she'd not be interrupting anything... Oh well, even if he's busy, she'd just wait for her turn then.
It had started off a oddly busy day. With a sudden influx of customers, Amon was way too busy to even remotely think about what day it was. Thankfully, the crowds started to die down, but just as he finished off the last customer, he heard the tell-tale sign of another customer walking in.
Although the momentary internal groan quickly became an immediate internal "yay!" upon seeing who just arrived.
"Oh hey!" Amon said, walking around the counter to give Edel a hug and a kiss on the forehead. "What's the occasion?" he asked, partially as his usual greeting, and partially due to the not-quite-inconspicuous bag she was holding.

Edelweiss could only raise an eyebrow at that question, quipping a quick "I see I'm not the only person who forgets their own birthday." before letting out a snicker at the thought. Though the bag was promptly hidden from view on her back, her arm moving it away as Amon tried to look. Not yet~
There seemed to have been a lot of people in the shop as far as she'd seen too, although it thinned out a lot soon after she arrived, for some reason. Figures... "Busy day?" She asked while glancing over her own shoulder to watch the last customer leaving through the door.
He had completely lost track of time...knew there was something special about today...though truthfully, other than treating himself a little, he really didn't celebrate his birthday much, so this sort of thing was still somewhat new to him...
"I guess not," he responded with a small chuckle. "And yeah, just a bit...c'mon," he said as he went to close up the shop before turning to lead Edel through the back room and upstairs to his room.

"Not right now, but thanks." She glanced around a bit when they crossed the backroom to reach upstairs. Last time she could remember being there was the time they'd brought Sienna back home, but Edelweiss herself had been far too tense and then far too tired that very day and still exhausted the following morning to pay much attention to anything. She could only remember it well from that first (and only) time she'd brought her mother to meet Amon, and even then things didn't seem to have changed much since back then. It was nice to know some things didn't.
Amon paused for a moment, turning to give her an inquisitive look.
"...I thought I couldn't use magic in a similar way that you can't use tech..." he said as he continued up the stairs and into his room. "Honestly speaking, if I could combine the two, I'd do it in a heartbeat..."

"I promised I'd bring you something closer to actual magic on your next birthday, didn't I? And today is your next birthday." She replied with a tilted smile and a raised eyebrow to match while following into the room after him. Maybe he had forgotten that.
"Technically speaking, you - and any human or human-prevalent halfbreed - don't have an aura, which is the basis for any spell-casting, and results in you having no magic of your own, yes." But even though he couldn't use magic of his own it didn't mean he couldn't use hers... in a sense. "But that doesn't mean there's nothing magical you can use. And since you like 'convenient' things, I've brought a little thing that'd match both prerequisites." She lifted the bag she was still holding and patted it with her free hand.
Amon walked over to the kitchenette area, and was in the midst of preparing some hot chocolate when he paused for the second time that night. It was one thing to get Anders to use some tech (and even then, there was a limit to what they could do), but for the opposite to be true...
"Alright, what's the trick?" he said with a smile as he continued with the preparations, readying two mugs.

Edelweiss eyed the mugs in Amon's hands while thinking on how to better explain it. She wasn't sure if it could be called a 'trick', but...
"Remember when my mother mentioned writing letters without using ink? It's like a variant of that." Well, in amon's case he still would need to use ink anyway, but he could still make use of the 'instant message' aspect of it - which, if one thought about it, was actually the most catching aspect of the whole thing anyway.
She settled the bag over the table and took out a duo of pocket-sized books and what seemed like a simple sealed inkwell (just a small percent of the bag's contents, judging by the size). "The basic gist is that these are made in pairs, and if you write or draw on a page of one book there'll be an identical copy of the contents appearing on the correspondent page of the other. That way you can send instant messages back and forth to anyone, with no delay time." And it wasn't a noisy process either, which usually was a plus.

She couldn't help but give a bit of an amused eyeroll, reaching out one of the books and the inkwell to him, and holding the second book open so that he'd see what happens to it while writing on the other. "Go ahead." Well, as long as he didn't bite it literally - she couldn't imagine paper and ink tasting very good. As for the hot chocolate, she wasn't really thirsty still, but it was smelling nice so she accepted the cup anyway. Might take a sip of it later.
"Just need to fill a pen or anything with it first." Normal ink wouldn't work for him. But other than that, it should work for him just fine.

Amon eyed the inkwell and books curiously as he reached into his bag, drawing two pens. Why was there a need to bring out the ink? Was it because she thought he didn't have any? Or was it special. Regardless, he was going to approach this the way he approached any experiment: with science!
Specifically, the scientific method, but whatevercloseenough.
After confirming that one pen indeed had little to no ink (he always carried a spare, just in case), he took the other pen and wrote in one of the books: Test.
Nothing happened. Alright then.
Taking the other pen, he filled it with the ink Edel provided, and then proceeded to write something else: Thank you.
And as she said, the same words appeared on the second second book.
Slightly dumbfounded, Amon's expression quickly turned to a glee as he began to write and doodle all across the page, switching back and forth between pens and watching in wonder as the drawings done with the "magic ink" were reflected onto the other book.
