Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Her own group would be a bit further down the corridor, a couple rooms to the right, in the Queen's office looking for similar things as Lasair's group with only their priorities were inverted regarding the items. While the MI team seemed to focus on finding writtings on magic of varied sorts, and if they bumped into anything about people who were marked and outled as anders then that was just a bonus to cover in ink, the CAEsAL team would focus exactly on finding data of those people - and any information they could find on magic and its varied properties was the looted bonus itself.
"Search for registers. List of anders, and what is done to them - if they're under surveilance and such. Slightly more unlikely here, but try to find what happened to the people who were taken by EIRAL during the Hovel slaughter; this isn't the Barracks but the Queen must have that kind of info about her people kept somewhere." Eryn looked on the higher shelves, Jasper watching the area nearby the door (that they locked from inside) and for any more techy 'bugs' that might be in use as surveilance gotten from either of the other legal guilds, and that made it so the redhead and Max were in charge of looking through all the rest of the archives. "And if there are any more pages from the Lost World, we also have to find those."

A gun shot rang out about the same time the Largest among the mob began to scream and run. He wasn't alone, many of them scattered like roaches while the few tied to the fence struggled against their bonds.
Jovena lowered her rifle and reloaded. The man with the pistol to the Baroness's head would never get a proper burial now that his face was utterly unrecognizable. But that's what happened when you took a rifle round to the skull.
"It's going to be alright Baroness," The soldier called out to the 'hostage'. If not for the Waist length blond hair, she wouldn't be able she recognized her, Jovena couldn't see anything else clearly at all. Everyone else was dressed in black and didn't have a halo of golden hair to give them away. She looked over at Gladys and nodded toward the gang surrounding the noble woman. How many were there and how many could two soldiers dispatch in a matter of moments? Jovena finished reloading and raised the barrel of the gun once more.
Rava heard what Caitlin want her and Ikuze to do "ok , what kind of shiny do you want us to bring back? if I maybe suggest we could go for the crown ?" she suggested as she checked her gear one more time , she know she may have to leave her rifle somewhere if they had to carry more stuff they didn't need to carry. there was also if anything guards that may come and start fireing and making noise that would cause problem for everyone.
"If you believe you can get it off the queens head..." Caitlin made a 'go-for-it' gesture with her hands, even as she started to lead Thrak away from the other two and on toward the West Gate. The sooner they set that debacle to rights, the sooner they could regroup with Ikuze Storm and Rava indoors.
At the suggestion of them stealing the crown itself, the blue haired thief gave out a surprised cough before looking at her wide-eyed. "You off yer 'ead or somethin'?!" she hissed, trying to keep her voice down whilst Caitlin and Thrak went off to the West Gate. "The crown is goin' to be the most bloody secure thing in the entire palace, and you wanna try for it when we don't even know where it'd be, and we're up against the clock?" she asked her increduluously, rubbing a hand over her face exasperatedly. She's a bandit not a thief... she's packing enough heat to try and take on the army, of course she'd suggest going for the damned crown... she thought to herself before focusing on the job at hand. "Let's get inside already, then we find the vault, get whatever we can get our hands on, and then get the hell out of there before we get caught." said the thief before she began to make her way for the South Gate which by now had cleared itself of its guards.
Ikuze could hear shots firing and some random girl screaming their head off as she slipped her way through the gate, before she began to sprint her way towards the palace itself, her eyes scanning around for an entry point they could both take advantage of. With all the equipment that Rava was carrying, Ikuze doubted she could easily slip her way in through a cracked window, so it'd have to be a ground entrance... servant's door maybe or a postern. Since they came in from the South gate, then there had to be one somewhere around here... There! She glanced back to see if Rava was keeping up before gesturing for the girl to follow her as she began to make her way for an unlit corner of the palace wall.
If all went according to plan, then it'd be a simple case of finding the right latch, picking its lock since no doubt with all the shots firing outside everything'll be getting locked up tighter than a new girl on the docks, and then slipping inside. Of course, with the way tonight was going already, Ikuze doubted that anything would be going as any of them had planned... and they hadn't even managed to get inside yet! She had expected stuff to go south when they got in, but not before... what else was going to go wrong eh? At this rate, she was half-expecting to bump into the high mucky muck of the EIRAL's himself trying to sneak out for a smoke or some fun with the palace serving staff. That would just be the damned cherry on top of this cake.
Everything happened so fast, a gun to Cait's head, a spooky voice pretending to be the dread pirate, a shot in the darkness which blew off the Svedes head. He hadn't even had time to react to the potential death of his girlfriend.
"It's going to be alright Baroness," a voice in the distance shouted. So, they thought she was here on official business? All the better. What would happen, however, if they spotted him? It was always risky, being spotted by EIRAL troops. There was always the potential that it was someone he'd trained.
A blow came towards him, which he parried to the side before striking back, catching a Svede in the neck. Seemed that the demise of the man with the gun had snapped the rest of the assailants back into action. "So what's the game plan here? Other than killing Svedes?" He wasn't too sure what he'd dropped into, other than the fact that these assassins had been attempting to gain access to the Palace. Probably to kill the queen, if he had to guess.
Things changed, but they didn’t really matter. She stayed close to Jasper, watching as they almost got to leave, but were then delayed by two more people joining the party. Figures as much, but she spoke nothing against them as they were sent off into groups. It seemed the small girl, Eryn would be tagging with them after all. At least it meant Max wouldn’t be the shortest one there now. Jasper was still the tallest (taller than Edel herself even) but he still had the young look to his face so it was alright.
The walk to the office was silent, save for the sound of walking feet. And then the door was opened, the group entered, and it was locked. Since Eryn was checking the top shelves and Jasper was lingering by the door, Max decided to take the area to the side, keeping the door in view in case things turned sour.
And it also occurred to her that she probably wasn’t the best person to be sent on a mission that involved a lot of reading. She wasn’t illiterate, yet her skills were so poor that Edelweiss was shifting through the texts two, maybe even three times faster than the retired assassin could. She still worked though, since slow progress was still progress all the same.
"I only go out to get me a fresh appetite for being alone." -Lord Byron
Following Lasair was nothing new, and neither was scouring the library. Frankly, the whole thing seemed oddly familiar, to the point that Sayvahn raised a brow. “Hm, think they have anything racy in here? Something a little, risqué, if you catch my drift?” Like how magic influences the body? The feline scoffed, picking up a book that looked promising, but proved otherwise. Just a dull textbook of neighboring countries and so forth. What else could the older man expect from the castle of all places? Still, the vandalism of books was nothing new to blonde either. After all, a certain young man had gone about burning all of his. “Well, just chose what books you want and stack them in a pile, I suppose. I’ll open a portal shortly after and we can just shove them all in there.” The dancer stated, sauntering over to a rather dusty looking section of the library, his fingers, crawling across the bindings of the books while Mala walked about, stalking one person to the next.
Clairee felt a bit less tension as soon as the library door closed behind them. At least now there was less of a chance they would bump into someone than when they were traversing the halls. It took her a moment to understand what Sayvahn meant by racy, but once she *did* catch his drift her face turned bright pink and she decided to look in a direction opposite of Sayvahn just in case. Turned out to be a complete mistake.
Her face got even redder, as she quietly walked back across the room, discretely to Sayvahns side with a book in her hands. Her knuckles turning white from clutching it so tightly.
"...I uh... I think we should switch sides. I think I found a uh..." She hesitantly raised the book, but once it was presented, she snapped it into his hands rather quickly and then linked her own fingers tightly behind her back so he couldn't return the book to her. Her eyes were on the ground and she widdled the toe of her shoes into the carpet nervously.
Trepidation was something he expected during battle, not now while looking for books whose highest form of excitement was the founding of a new tax. That’s why when Clariee approached him ever so timidly, a book, grasped so tightly in her hands the older man wondered if she had found a death tome. Yet, on the contraire, she had found something much more interesting. “So I’m guessing you haven’t ruffled in the haystack hmm?” The older man mused, turning the book over on its sides, the image of scantly clad everything on the cover making him whistle. Well, that was one use for rope, one he hadn’t thought of, but apparently, someone else had. The castle knew how to live it large apparently. “Standard Conservative Victorian lass, but that’s alright. Nothing wrong with a little purity now and then.” Placing down the other book he was leafing through, Sayvahn took a step forward, patting her on the shoulder as he did so. “Alright, dearie, switch sides. I’ll probably find this side much more useful anyway.” The feline chuckled, patting the girl on the shoulder one last time before taking the book, whistling slightly as he neared the “risqué” section. “Boy, Edgar is sure going to love this.” He mused aloud, taking out book after book for his own…. Personal reading more so than the guilds. Though, who knows. Maybe MI did want to have a little spice in its library as well.

Well that would certainly throw off suspicions later, when they took stock of what was missing and found a list as long as her arm of books in the adult section. Maeve chuckled at the exchange between little sister and the fair haired gent. She gave the mother hen glare a bit of a rest, since they were tucked away in a quiet corner of the palace for now and less likely to face intrusion. In the meantime she turned her attention to the leader of this rag-tag team, someone who Clairee apparently took orders from.
She didn't recognize him, which bothered her. She used to know who all of Clairees friends were at a glance, not that she ever knew them by name. But ever since hitting the 'big time' in showbiz, she'd had less spare time to spend shadowing her younger sibling. Something she'd have to work on fixin.
Maeve also wasn't much of a reader, and didn't care much bout the war between Anders and Humans, so she just did what she was good at, and hung by the door - eyes alert, surveying inside while listening out. If anyone came through this door, it would hit her in the back first, and she'd be the closest to react. She filed her clawed fingertips while they rifled books. She even Yawned. Just like bouncing at a club, she thought. Watch, observe, and when need be, apply a touch of muscle.
At the suggestion of them stealing the crown itself, the blue haired thief gave out a surprised cough before looking at her wide-eyed. "You off yer 'ead or somethin'?!" she hissed, trying to keep her voice down whilst Caitlin and Thrak went off to the West Gate. "Let's get inside already, then we find the vault, get whatever we can get our hands on, and then get the hell out of there before we get caught." said the thief before she began to make her way for the South Gate which by now had cleared itself of its guards.

Rava had kept up since the moment Ikuze started to run , she never got the chance to reply to what she said before. she was disrupted as gunshots were heard, Rava had already got herself ready as emptied her rifle and chucked it into a nearby bush for later on if she needed it. she got her trench gun ready as she pumped the 1st cartage into the chamber "if we can't get into anything with lockpicks , leave it to me. This can open mostly anything, make new friends and make a mess real fast " she said showing off a little as she smiled "also if am right , the crown would be in the queen's room, it's not like she would wear the bloody thing all the time, crowns are heavy last time I remember" she added to reply to Ikuze's words before as she follow behind.
For some reason, Jovena raising a gun to shoot at the Baroness didn’t surprise Gladys. What did surprise her was the fact that the Baroness remained unharmed and was, in fact, saved by the quick draw. It was impressive, as well as overly lucky given that the man was standing so close to the other. They Baroness was one of the people the EIRAL was tasked with protecting, should the need ever arise. And well. The need has risen.
Now she felt very unlucky because everyone in the group was rushing towards her, apparently agreeing that the guards were a common enemy. Some ran away, but many did not. And while Jovena was reloading her gun, Gladys became tasked with covering the other soldier. She wished she had two swords instead of one right now, but one would have to be enough as she fell into the rhythm of parrying and countering all who approached her, aiming to injure instead of kill the attackers. “Any time now!” she called back to Jove as she began struggling against the attacks.

“Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Do not bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.” ―William Faulkner
Caitlin really had to resist the urge to tell the soldiers they had it under control, but saying any such thing - given that they'd called her by name, would have been a terrible idea. She gritted her teeth and put her hands in the air, turning her back slowly to the gate where the Sveds who hadn't followed Thraks lead and hit the trails were still fighting their personal enemy: The Lodan army. The rest of them were just hurdles in the way.
"Skahh-" dung, she couldn't say his name... She'd have to get his attention some other way.
“Any time now!” the second soldier called to the first. They were obviously occupied, so Caitlin took the chance and darted toward him. She tried to grab for his arm to get his attention.
"Skye," She whispered low enough for only him to hear, "Do you think you can take our troops, find Thrak and rendezvous at the South Gate?" it was back to plan A
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin
Yes, best if he wasn't spotted, and the Svedes that were left alive were already dispersing. He was just glad that she was safe, and that she had stopped calling him Commander. Now that he was back there was a lot to catch up on. "My Queen," he said in way of recognition, as he bowed his head slightly.
"You heard the lady, let's move out, and by all means kill any Svedes we run across." With that he moved towards the shadows, hopefully with men in tow. The EIRAL officers would protect his Lady well enough. He gave a look back as he turned around a the corner of the Palace grounds to see Jove approaching. Good, the woman had a solid head on her shoulders. He still had no clue why any of them were here, but he found it highly Ironic that even as an outlaw he was still protecting the gentry. Too bad the Queen would award all the praise on the EIRAL and Alistair.
Ikuze shot Rava a glare at her suggestion of simply blowing the door open, shaking her head before she returned to her craft. "Sure, just fire off another loud gun, so close to the palace away from where all the other gun shots are." she said sarcastically as she worked. "That won't get any of the guards attention drawn towards us at all." the blue haired thief said before the faint click of the locks tumbling into place sounded to her ear. "And like the Queen would keep the crown in her own bedroom. That things the single most valuable thing in the entire drated kingdom, and what, you think she keeps it hidden under her mattress or something?" hissed Ikuze before grumbling and shaking her head a little as she checked the corners before entering the servants passage. This being the servant's entrance, there wouldn't be any traps, least none of the mechanical variety. What concerned her was them accidentally meeting the staff as they made their rounds, or extra guards given the noise outside. Especially since Caitlin had lumped her with the trigger happy bandit for this job. Seriously, she would have been a lot more use outside fighting the Svedes as far as the thief was concerned.
But, the job was the job after all. Ikuze looked at Rava following her. "Put that thing away and put the safety on. Last thing we need is that thing going off accidentally one way or the other whilst we're in here." the thief ordered before taking in a slow breath to calm her nerves. "The key to a good burglary is quiet and stealth. And in this case with all the drated Svedes running around, a healthy dose of luck wouldn't go amiss." she deadpanned before she made her way down the corridor, slowing down each time they neared a door to make sure that either nobody was behind it, or was about to come through it and spot them. She only had a few shots of magic left in her after the barbecue Svede earlier, and had been hoping to save them for any emergencies... Mice and men as her grand-father would say, whatever the hell that meant.
As they got towards the end, Ikuze bit her lip and sighed. "There's a drated fork and I ain't got a clue which way to go for the vault... not like they just hand out maps of this place to random strangers." she grumbled, rubbing the bridge of her nose as she tried to figure out what to do. Logic said that since there were two of them, that they split up, cover more ground and gain a greater chance of finding the vault with the loot. However, her partner in crime for this job was a trigger happy bandit who really needed an eye kept on her in Ikuze's opinion. Add on the fact that the place past either of these paths was going to no doubt be crawling with either servants or guards did not help the situation.
But, time was against them since she had no clue how much longer the nonsense outside was going to last for, and all the guards that were outside decide to return inside the palace and give the place a sweep. Ikuze grumbled before looking at Rava. "You go right and I'll go left. One hour and we meet back here got it, regardless of whatever we find, we grab it and get back here. If either of us is not here within five minutes of the rendezvous, get outside and meet up with the others, got it?" said the thief before she set off on her own course, hoping that this night did not get any worse for them than it already had. She could tell she was already going to regret this decision... one way or the other.

Eryn want along the bookshelf as she read the spines of each of the books , looking for the words Andersweltler as she skimmed the books along , as she came across each one that matched she pulled it out and dropped it down to the others below being careful of where she dropped it and so not to drop it onto anyone's head "d do any of these work?" she asked from above as she found a place to sit for a minute on the shelf as she looked down , the place was really big , not as big as the theater but it was big enough.

Gladys became tasked with covering the other soldier. She wished she had two swords instead of one right now, but one would have to be enough as she fell into the rhythm of parrying and countering all who approached her, aiming to injure instead of kill the attackers. “Any time now!” she called back to Jove as she began struggling against the attacks.
Jovena couldn't help herself... she froze and stared as Gladys -THE Gladys Hayden- started kicking arse and taking names.
“Any time now!” she called back to Jove as she began struggling against the attacks.
"Right!" Jovena snapped out of it and raised her gun. But she couldn't take the chance, not with everyone moving around so much. As is she had to hold her gun very steady and very close to her own side of the fence before she shot the Sveden holding the baroness hostage - and HE had been standing still!
"Ah screw this," She slung the gun back over her shoulder and pulled the knives from her belt. Coming around the open gate---
why was this gate open?---
Jovena offered some hand-to-hand combat assistance to Gladys. She just wouldn't throw any of the knives, for safety. She wasn't a bad shot, she just wasn't always as accurate as she wanted to be.
After another fell limp on the ground, the remaining few knew they were outnumbered (if you counted the two EIRAL soldiers & the Rogues.) Everyone who wasn't Caitlin, a Lodan Soldier, or otherwise dead; fled back into the dark city.
