Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

As she lowered her head, the hair making a soft sound as it swept forward from over her shoulders, Lasair took a deep breath and opened his right eye, just the one. The redhead before him was a little blurry, but he could still see her, and in doing so, prove to himself that she was really there right now, trying to help him however she could.
“That’s why you find someone who needs to depends on you too. Relationships are a give and a take. You openly admit that you’d be taking, but would you be able to give the comfort as well? So long as you can, so long as you’re giving something too, then you’re not being selfish.” Oddly enough, despite his fear of commitment, he had spend a lot of time thinking about the psyche of relationships and what made them work, as well as what would break them. Every relationship had cracks. It was only a matter of not stepping on them with all your weight.

"What would I even give now, Las?" Besides secrets, lies, and very likely depression. This might have sounded like a sad, even whiny comment but her tone was simply casual, with a touch of mild curiosity, like someone would talk of the weather and wonder if the wind would grow stronger soon. The very land seemed to support that - just look at them, sitting on untrimmed grass in the middle of nowhere, chatting while not even able to directly look at each other. How worthy and dignified was that behavior? ...That last thought almost made her feel like Stephen and she had to suppress the reflex of a silent snicker.

“Time. Comfort. A place to talk without fear. Companionship. Trust. Loyalty.” He felt sort of odd listing the things off like that; shouldn’t they be easy for her to list? Didn’t she have them with Amon? He almost wanted to ask, but felt as though that wouldn’t be a question he should bring up right now. No, it would be better to keep the conversation where it was in this moment.

Lasair simply started listing things, and that caused Edelweiss to unbury her head from her knees. How odd. He was peeking at her with only one eye open. Well, better than none at least. And not like it wasn't odd of her to be curled up like that while sitting on the grass either; should at least move to sit more normally. She hadn't come there to talk about herself. Odd, so odd, both right and wrong at the same time. It was probably a wise decision of his to not question if she had that with Amon. It would for sure make her cry. Those things he was listing... she didn't know why they were even there. They weren't things she chose to do, she simply did them. A sort of route to get the best result out of the task she had imposed herself with. What task was it? Bring him back to Sayvahn? Back to the city? That was a promise, not a task. She didn't know what kind of emotion she was seeing in Lasair's eyes since Castamere, but she did know that it was destroying her. Though, wasn't she already broken too? What difference did it make? They both lost things - maybe she just wanted to prove to herself she could still get some of those lost things back. A sight, a feeling... a smile, perhaps. So strange, to even think about that.

He took a deep breath, closing his open eye as he did so and sat up straighter, exhaling the breath. Then he opened both of his eyes, blinked a moment, and looked at Edelweiss directly, giving her his full attention before he answered the question.
“……….maybe? I’m not sure. Do you feel that way towards me?” It was almost like she was asking if Lasair thought of her as a friend, but he knew there was more behind it than that.

"Also maybe. I don't know." Honestly. A collateral effect of not knowing what she's feeling at times is... well, not knowing what she's feeling at times. Kind of a given. It was hard to explain or define otherwise.

“That’s okay,” he said slowly, watching her and the way she seemed to sigh with her body. He could tell she was honest; her posture reflected it. There was no confidence, no certainty behind it. Instead, she was curled forward, a defensive sort of position. It made him want to reach out and give her another hug and tell her over again that it was okay.
Rubbing his eyes a moment, he continued. “Do you mind not knowing? Do you want to find out?” Again, his tone was honest, clear. He didn’t want her to feel pressured into investigating if she didn’t want to.

This was definitely not her most venerable moment out there, and Edelweiss took an extra couple seconds to realize she was still kind of curling up. And it faintly reminded her of that little tic Wern had where the chubby mechanic basically shrinked trying to look smaller whenever felt flustered. The redhead woman let out a small sigh and recovered her composure, so that at least her posture was no longer alike to that of a scared child's.
"I guess knowing would be good." And as much is this was turning into an otherwise strange and somewhat awkward topic to be chatting of, at least he was looking at her while talking now.

A small, half sort of smile came to his lips when she answered. It was nice having someone to be so honest, so comfortable with as to be able to discuss topics such as these. He wished he had more people in his life like that. He wished Sayvahn could be one of those people in the future.
“As long as you’re okay with it. Assuming you are…close your eyes now. Let your other senses take over in painting a picture of the world around you.” Lasair leaned forward slightly, his eyes looking into her own as he spoke. He had never noticed how nice they sparkled in the sunlight.

"Like you were till I disturbed your contemplation of life and nature with my presence?" She replied along a head tilt, and the ghost of a smile that kind of mirrored his own. That was a simple request, although the implications were complex. She knew what he was doing. If she let her mind wander, it was easy to start battling against herself - what she shouldn't do, and what she should know. Sje wished she was just a little more irresponsible right then... but, was that responsibility still there right now? That was something else, she also needed to find out. For herself, own sanity and peace of mind, but also for any other parts involved...
As long as he doesn't try to cast magic on her while her guard is down... She didn't think he would, but it was hard to set aside all those layers of caution that borderlined paranoia at once. She'd notice if that's the case though, since Lasair was so close now. So she just let her body relax and kept her eyes closed.

He watched as her eyes drifted shut, removing them from his vision. “I wouldn’t use the word disturbed…” he said, allowing his voice to trail off without saying anything more of it. She trusted him, as he trusted her, and he wouldn’t dare betray her trust. Especially during a moment as calm as this one.
Moving closer to her, he closed his eyes again, locking the memory of such a detailed version of her face within his mind. And then, after a split second pause, his lips met hers.
A shiver danced along Sayvahn’s spine. The feline glanced up from his coffee to the boy across from him— an uncertain frown, tugging at his lips. It had been an hour since the woman had left. An hour was not enough time to solve a problem, to solve what had happened, but it had left Sayvahn to ponder, to wonder on his own. I should apologize to Lasair, he reasoned, but, as more and more moments passed, he wondered whether that would do anything. Even if Edelweiss denied Lasair being in love with her, Sayvahn knew otherwise. After all, he had been around the fox almost daily for the past few weeks, and although the angel was never mentioned, he could see how the other felt. Yes, Lasair was happy performing, teaching magic for the older man, but it was different. Different than what Edelweiss described. And that, that was painful. Lasair acts differently for her, because he loves her. It was as simple as that. And somewhere, deep down, Edelweiss felt the same, even if she didn’t know it. Or wanted to admit to it. And that, that made him regret fetching Edelweiss, regret running to her like some child, unsure of what to do. But, it had to be done. Long eyelashes lowered and the older man bit his lip. Indeed. He would apologize to Lasair. Apologize for being foolish, laugh at the jest of being older, of having to have more dignity— that age, after all, had taken that from him. “It’s easier to be a youth than it is to be youthful.” The blonde’s mannerism were opposite of his age. He shouldn’t act like this, but instead, he should be more refined, more dignified. A guide, rather than a follower. Yet, that seemed to have gone, to have dissipated once everything began to fall apart. And now, now he lost everything: Mala, Corey, and even Lasair— although the fox was never his to begin with. “Jasper, I’m fairly certain Edelweiss won’t come back for me.” The barber stated plainly, putting his coffee down, eyes, trained on the dark material, wafting in the cup. “Nor do I fancy waiting for her.” At that, Sayvahn got up, pushing his chair in, the coins for the coffee, spilling from his hand. “I appreciate your company, but, please don’t’ follow me anymore.”

There was wind, offerring a smooth caress and trying to mess with her hair - yet unable to thanks to the hairtie. Grass under her legs, and under her gloved palms, a green smooth feeling that is almost sharp. The sound of a voice in a tone she'd not heard it's been a while, the faint rustle of the body moving, the feeling of air filling her lungs and blood pulsing in her veins. Then something else, warming in that blind world. Softness, with a hint of metal. That tasted sweet, and also painful. A soothing feeling that made her want to smile, and also a deep ache that almost made her cry. There, this was the answer she needed. It still hurt. Like the grass around... Something could surely grow in there. If she gave it time, if she allows it. Once the pain recedes. But as of now...
As they pulled apart after a moment, she opened her eyelids again, and red amber met deep blue. His eyes were alluring, almost hypnotic, she couldn't deny that. No matter what, she could blame him for that little shard of peace. "...Did you feel anything?"
Jasper barely tilted his head, paying for his own tab in silence after the equally silent meal, and standing up to follow Sayvahn. Whether the man wants it or not. "I cannot. You seemed to have understood that before." He replied simply, with an unfazed unimpressed and completely unemotional expression that would be making the best professional poker player around green of envy. "You don't know Edel. And that's fine. But I have nothing with your assumption - if you run, I follow."

His heart leapt into his throat as they met. It was odd; he was usually not this nervous when he had kissed people in the past. Then again, in the past he didn’t put so much weight upon kissing someone as he was doing now. But then, then the nervousness faded and in its wake there was a different feeling. What was it called? Did it even have a name? Comfort? Calmness? Longing? Something in between? It was a welcomed feeling, one that slipped past his usual shell of coldness. He wouldn’t mind feeling that way again; for it was already starting to wane as they parted, her question coming to his ears after a few moments spent in silence.
“Yes,” he admitted, a light laugh creeping into his throat. It was a short one, lasting only two breaths. “It was nice.” He took a slow breath in through his nose, exhaling it and feeling relaxed, happy to have the fresh air in his lungs. “What about you?” he looked at her with a calm face. He had been honest with her; he hoped she would be the same.

"I don't think I've felt this peaceful in months." Edelweiss told while letting out a weak chuckle as his out laugh was contagious. "It still hurts, but..." She mentioned honestly, a hand raising to the spot over her own heart. "Once it isn't so fresh, then for sure."
That part was important. She had needed to clear her feelings, and while everything was too soon yet (Sorry, Sayvahn, her point still stands), her care for the redhead man could surely develop into something else. But for it to turn into love she would have to actually allow it - not feel like she's using Lasair as a replacement, nor feel guilty for loving him. And what she felt (and, as it became clear, still feels) for Amon is still too fresh for her. She still had to find him - be sure of what happened, and what he also felt if he's alive and away for so long. But she felt calmer, and peaceful about it now. A sense that if there's a closure, she could have a new start.
"Should we head back to the city now? And talk to Sayvahn." Oh heavens Sayvahn, whose love for Lasair had the finesse of a raging boar. It made her wince slightly at the thought. "...And, hm, maybe skip telling him about this. At all."
