Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Despite trying to follow close to his guildmaster, he was blocked. Or well, nearly ran into a boy— the said boy with blue hair. Letting out a squeak as the boy turned toward him, luckily both of them stopped in time, but Wern, being, well, rather round and not light on his feet, staggered back some. Too much in fact. He quickly grabbed some sort of furniture for support, letting out a light sigh as he tumbled into it, patting its sides as he tried to find his bearings. And the fact that he was being addressed.
“Oh. Um. Yes.” Getting to his feet, a blush on his cheeks, he dusted himself off. “I mean, I’ve only been here a few minutes myself. But well, yes. Um, I’m having fun.” Looking over the blue head boy, he searched for his guild leader, who appeared to have run into the room with Edelweiss. Oh no. They were defiantly a couple. He was surely going to be in trouble for this later. “Are you having fun?” He asked, trying to push a smile despite his worries. Yet, even politeness could only get him so far. Especially since he was unsure of the other, and how polite such a young looking individual was.

"I just got here too but yeah, it looks pretty fun." Jasper said with a shrug. "I don't see anyone I know though, besides Edel of course, and she's...preoccupied." He added. With a sigh, he leaned back against the wall behind him. Between the few words the two had exchanged, the boyish entertainer couldn't help but realize just how nervous the older man really was; he was restless and every action he made seemed forced - especially the smile he was giving. "Relax," the juggler said, his features softening what little they could, "we're all friends here." He made eye contact with Wern, he eyes sparkling with kindness.

With the suggestion of “relax,” Wern did quite the opposite, tensing and fretting nervously as he waved his hands. “Oh, yes, of course.” Yet, as he spoke, the hand motions stopped as he lowered his head. “Do… do I look that bad?” He tried to laugh, but, it too, was strained. “Sorry. Just, it’s like you said. There are so many strangers here, and well, I’m still kind of new to the town.” Three months can still be considered new, couldn’t it? It was long enough to pick up a drinking habit, it seemed, but that, itself, took only a month. Looking at the boy, they were about the same height, so, he didn’t have to strain himself too much to meet the other’s face. Holding out his hand, he returned the smile. “So, um. The name's Wern. What's yours?”

Too many strangers on sight, entering her personal space without permission. Too much noise, and movement. People moving about as if the house was theirs rather than hers. Result of those 3 things, Stephannie is a very unamused grumpy cap at the moment. A random guy had even dared to let his foot lean on her tail! The nerve! She bristled and hissed at anyone who got too close and made her way into the kitchen looking for all in the world like the fluffiest grossed out lady in town, and she only stopped when she spotted the familiar and welcome sight of a masked woman - then went ahead to contently purr and rub her fluffy grey fur against Vieka's legs. Happily sure this beautiful angry bird will protect her from those unrefined house-invaders.
"All power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." - John Dalberg-Acton
Vieka frowned, and if she didn't know any better she would have said that the EIRaL member was pulling her tail. sadly she hadn't seen his sneaky smirk, otherwise she probably would have belted him. Scowling and only believing half his words, the doctor huffed before turning on heel. "Baking. Come on then, and don't get in the way." She grumbled under her breath. Perhaps she should have let him leave, it certainly would have been less stressful. Sadly, making enough cakes and snacks for this many people on her own would be neigh on impossible. She was good, she wasn't that good, 'specially with no time to prepare.
Traipsing her way to the kitchen and expecting the blue coat to follow her, Vie couldn't help but smirk to herself at the though of 'time to prepare'. In all fairness, Peaches had adapted to the situation fairly well (fairly well as in she didn't have a mental break down or start screaming like a normal person probably would), but it was certainly fun watching her loose her cool. Pulling open a few cupboards, the half breed winged ander couldn't help but think maybe the woman wasn't made completely of masks after all.
A soft purr and a rub against her legs had her breaking out of her thoughts and glancing down, one very fluffy cat seemingly made her home down there- right before some nonce nearly crashed into the feline and the woman both. Right, that's it, too many people drawling around the kitchen like cockroaches.
"Everyone out the kitchen!" The brunette snapped loudly, gaining the attention of everyone in the room, and probably a few milling outside it too. "Now." That did it. Everyone who wasn't meant to be there in the first place went scuttling out of the room like the vermin they were, to which Vieka promptly shut the door on them afterwards before scooping up Stephanie, giving the cat a loving nuzzle with the side of her masked face and lots of pampering attention. And she would continue to do so until Edel got here to show her where all the kitchen equipment was, not at all bothered that Kalum could see her fussing over the cat like a child. Perhaps the amount of people was getting to her more than she liked to admit (hence her making sure the EIRaL stayed), but some feline companionship made her feel much better, especially one of Stephanie's poise and grace.

At the sight of Wern's tensing, Jasper couldn't help but chuckle; to the juggler, it was strange to see someone so nervous, especially since the people he interacted with were usually so confident. "No, you don’t look bad. Just...uncomfortable." The entertainer replied, absently waving at the question as if he could brush it away. "But otherwise, you're fine."
He shrugged with another reassuring smile. "At least he’s trying." The blue-haired performer thought as Wern reached out for a handshake. Jasper’s own outstretched hand clasped over the mechanic’s palm gingerly in a partial handshake. "I’m Anders. It’s a pleasure to meet you."

"As you wish," replied the soldier with the corners of his lips still upturned in a subtle smile. Being tall had its advantages as people easily saw him coming and therefore cleared his path, but what was more amusing was the woman he was following and how she made her way over to the other side. Once inside the kitchen, the man studied those inside and opened his mouth to speak only for the words to be stolen by the masked doctor. Both his brows lifted as he turned an amused gaze upon her only to grow into a grin in seeing the way she handled the cat. "Right," he murmured and lifted his hands to remove his hair from the tail, slip the tie between his lips while he gathered all his hair into one bundle, folded it back into a bun then redid the tie. With his hair bound back, he then went through the process of removing his bow to set along a corner nearby then reached behind himself to unfasten the string that laced up the back of his vest before pulling that off. After folding the vest neatly and placing it far away on the counter, he peeled off his gloves to set atop of the vest, and went to wash his hands. The purpose of redoing his hair and removing the articles of clothing was to discard any chance that stray fur or hair would be caught in the food--no one wanted that.
Once his hands were washed and dried, Kalum turned to look at Vieka and shook his head but still smiled at her and the cat. Baking for large crowds was not something he was unfamiliar with. In Bimbury, his mother had been famous for her pastries and desserts and during the busier parts of the year would need his help. If the woman was more concerned with the cat than helping, he would not mind in the slightest. Rather than waiting for Edel to show them where the items were he simply went through the pantry and cupboards to find what he needed. There was sugar, flour, extracts, eggs, milk--only plebeians used water in his eyes, and various other things that could be added for flavor such as fruit or nuts. "Had you a particular item to bake in mind?"
Letting out a weary laugh, Wern tried to make a joke form the situation. “Sadly, uncomfortable might as well be my middle name.” Oh cogs, that sounded better in his head. He hoped it was lost though, as the other grasped his hand and gave his name. Anders, huh. Did he slur trying to say that he was an ander or his name was Anders? No. He said his name was Anders. How odd. “And to you as well.” Wern chuckled. Oh my, what else was he going to say? Um, conversation, conversation — “Anders, hmm? I feel that’s quite an awkward name to have during this time— not saying it’s an awkward name. Far from it.” Oh jeez, this was a bad topic wasn’t it. Biting his lip, he opened his mouth to speak, shook his head, then continued. “It’s a very pretty name— I- I mean handsome. Handsome. It’s handsome. But um, well, here they have a thing against anders— not in the name just in the type of person because of the mandate and well it's different where I live though we didn’t really have anders and oh goodness.” Finding he was rambling, he closed his mouth some, blinking in confusion before opening his mouth again to continue. “Um, you know what, I’m going to be quiet now.” Closing his mouth again Wern brought his hand up to his face, trying to hide his embarrassment and wishing he had something- preferably strong- to drink.

There were a couple seconds of silence as Edelweiss thought and turned back towards the door (from the inside side this time), then the sound of it being unlocked and pulled ajar as minimally as affordable. "You can leave it on the bed. Lock the door again after you pass." Only Amon. She didn't want Goya breaking anything in her bedroom, and even if not counting the round-shaped clockwork doll 3 people (and any number above 3) in there would be too much. If they may be so kind, she hoped Wern and Jasper could keep each other company and keep that partying mob outside her house's private areas. Like Stephannie seemed keen of doing: the fluffy cat had been quietly sleeping on her fancy little cat bed in the corner of the room, but slipped outside when the door was unlocked once again.
The other gifts had been neatly placed on the corner of the bed, so Amon could leave Wern's there along them. Edelweiss was just fetching a random hairtie from the nightstand's drawer anf then slipped behind the curtain of the closet space to choose a set of clothes. As tempting as staying in that robe the whole day felt right then, that just wouldn't be right.
Amon quickly slipped in and, for good measure, locked the door behind him before taking a glimpse of the contents of her room. It was...well...fancy was a tad bit of an understatement; her apartment was already big to begin with, but her room was only slightly smaller than his entire flat. His girlfriend really liked to live in luxury...at the same time, Amon couldn't help but feel a small mixture of negative emotions in the back of his mind.
Envy.
Self-consciousness at his own living arrangements.
Disdain at how much money could be spent elsewhere.
Amon shook his head of those thoughts. He could easily find ways to purchase a similar living arrangement if he felt like it, but he was attached to his current place...for a number of reasons.
He stepped forward to place the gift with the others on Edel's bed, stealing a glance at where Edel disappeared to. As tempting as it was, now was probably not the best time to be peeking on his girlfriend's birthday robe...especially at 8 in the morning with half the district giving her a surprise invasion party in her home.

In the closet, Edelweiss just grabbed the first shirt and pair of pants she could grab and slipped them on, and only a second too late noticed exactly what she was now wearing. It was one of the shirts Rose had made for her; not that her mother had bad taste, but it just wasn't her usual style - for starters it didn't go well with any vests or jackets, and the sleeves were too short to hide her needle straps under, but on a second thought that might be for the best. She was tired, stressed and admitedly a tad upset; being armed while tired and stressed was never a good combo. And with this amount of people around her house she definitely was not going to go work today either; would have to remember to apologise to Stephen later... Sighing, she put a pair of socks on and walked out of the closet with her boots in hands to wear them while sitting on the bed. Amon was still there, of course, if he left before her the door would remain unlocked (unless he took the key and locked her in instead).
"I need to scream. But that will have to wait some." She groaned in frustration, then sighed again. Yes, she loved people. No, she did not like an uninvitted crowd roaming through her home. Her home was her little sanctuary of sorts. Little in the metaphorical sense, since it was supposed to house half dozen people rather than only her. It just happened she was the only one remaining. "...Sorry, I shouldn't take it out on you." It wasn't his fault there was a small army worth of people waiting to eat her food at 8 in the morning. She just wished she knew who had this idea. And looking better at Amon, he seemed to be pulling quite a strange face too. "Are you alright?"

"Sorry about all of this...and I'm fine..." Amon replied with a small smile. "It's just...I sorta feel guilty about inadvertently joining in on this...fiasco...at the same time, I know it's silly; besides, if I didn't follow the last rumor I heard, I wouldn't have found you..."
He walked over to her and gave her a kiss on her forehead. "Maybe next year, we'll have a more planned event at a more reasonable time...that is, if this doesn't give you my disdain for crowds. Though to be honest, I wouldn't mind more quiet time with you," he said with a slightly devious smile, silently admiring her attire.
"Now then, ready to entertain and/or drive away your guests birthday girl?" he asked, extending a hand to help her get up once she was done with her boots.

"It's not your fault." She stated simply, her attention straying away from her boots for a second. Why was he apologizing or feeling sorry for... being there? At least him being there was working to lessen the tension caused by those other around 30 people who weren't in the least sorry for being there.
He kept on talking, now about what they could do the next year and disdain for crowds, then finished with that little not-so-innocent smile while looking at her, and as for herself Edelweiss just slowly raised an eyebrow while listening. By the end of it, an amused half-smile was resting on her lips as she stood up. "Well, first: since a stab to the stomach didn't make me disdain crowds, I don't think a crappy party will. At my home it's the first, but not the first I went to. Second..." She thought for half a second. She knew that face of his, he had already pulled it around her a couple times before. Her first impulse was simply say "Ok." or "Alright." and smile - but then he would just turn dead silent and that little smile would be gone. He wanted to see her red like a teenager before a first kiss. Just calm joy and giving consent weren't enough. So maybe she should be a little more blunt this time. "...I'm yours, just tell me when." She stole a quick peck and then headed for the door, letting him stay there with his hand extended while the idea sinks. "Lock the door after you pass again please."
------
Entering the kitchen, the redhead saw Vieka patiently waiting while petting her cat (and with what she knew of her, the 'petting the cat' part was probably the sole thing that put the 'patiently' part in there) and Kalum freely roaming through the kitchen and opening drawers and shelves in search for supplies with no sense of shame for handling another person's belongings without permission. Edelweiss felt as her fingertips twitched slightly, then forced herself to relax again and gave a resigned smile. That was tipical EIRAL behavior, what else did she expect. First things first, she'd show Vieka where the teas and coffee were so that they could start brewing something(s). "Kalum, there are some varied berries in the fridge (they're in bowls on the top shelf), can you fetch them while we get some tea ready?"
Stephannie purred, contently nestled in her happy place at the moment. Up in this beautiful angry bird's arms, no one could reach or bother her. The angry bird's arms are now her throne. A throne that keeps dexterously petting her. This is a happy place indeed.
"Oh..." Amon finally thought, Edel's insinuation finally processing, his mind/emotions/face exploding in a mix of feels and pinkness. "Dangit Edel!" he screamed in his head, bringing his hand back to cover his increasingly heating face. She got him good in their little blushing game. To be perfectly honest, he wasn't really sure when they would bring their relationship to the...well...you know. He did drop a number of insinuations himself, about being alone with her, but truthfully, did not expect too much.
Worst case scenario: hanging out with Edel. Best case:...again...you know.
A win-win situation really.
He put those thoughts off to the side (temporarily at least), waiting for his face to return to his (admittedly a little unhealthy) pale color, before heading out of Edel's oasis of quiet and returning to the chaos, locking her door behind him.
He stood there for a moment, trying to decide whether to interact with the other people, or seek out Edel. "Well...I haven't talked to Vieka in a while...guess I'll see how she is..." he thought as he headed towards the kitchen.

Jasper chuckled at the mechanic's little joke, an equal measure of genuineness and pity. "Maybe he's actually relaxing." The blue-haired feline thought to himself, a pleased smile growing on his face. That thought was almost instantly wiped from his mind as the man began to talk about his name. Not that he minded Wern's comments; in fact, he thoroughly enjoyed explaining why he called himself as such. But talking to the man...to someone so nervous, so uncomfortable with others, was...unnerving to say the least. For a moment, his joyous smile wavered and for the second time during this conversation, the juggler considered using a bit of magic to help ease the pain...for both of them.
As the Anderswelter parted his lips to speak, the older man said he was done talking. "Wha-? But we just started." He said, partially confused. Sure, the conversation was discomforting, and maybe a waste of both their times, but sitting in silence would definitely be worse, especially since they were at a party.

Startled, Wern looked at the other, then at his feet. “Um, yes, I know but um.” Kicking his feet together, he listened to the laughter in the distance, wishing that maybe he could be part of that conversation, or at least capable of having such. He hadn’t meant stop talking in general, but perhaps that was where this conversation was going. “I, um, well, I just feel as though, well, I’m not good at conversing, and..” Looking at the other for a moment, he lowered his head in shame once more. “I look like I’m making you uncomfortable, and I am, aren’t I?” Wern admitted, holding onto his bag tightly just as Goya rang out, “Of course you are. You are a nervous wreck. A shame upon all party goers.”
