Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

The crowd was not as small as he had expected though he should not have been surprised. One of the many reasons he had initially gone out of his way to attend this particular party was because he had heard of the good this woman had done and how she helped those she could with the flood of peasants leaving the hovel--until an overload meant turning them away to Central Square. "Aye, this is for you," he replied and extended the gift out for the woman to take. He kept his eyes focused on her face and never once glanced below her nose so as to respect her given her current choice of wear. "It is on behalf of myself and several other EIRAL soldiers who have told me of the many good things you have done. I hope you like it. As this gentleman says, perhaps it is best to place them away from the chaos," with his words he gestured to Amon to indicate the fellow he spoke of. Moments later, Vieka joined them and her question brought him to lift his brows in subtle amusement. Alice loved to cook to make Kalum happy though she had been horrible at it. Even then, he would never show that to her. However, Kalum was her opposite in that he had gotten good at it though seldom ever partook in the activity. "I know the basics. Will we be baking, miss Vieka?"

"A birthday is a date when someone becomes a year older, Eryn; it marks the day they were born and sometimes friends and colleagues give presents to the person too. ...But someone decided to randomly throw a party here without me knowing and I don't know if the two things are related." Edelweiss sighed; she still felt so tired and sleep-deprived (who did even think a party this early at her place was a good idea?), but at the very least being consistently talked to helped to wake up that part of her brain that could process logic and conversation to some degree.
Still, there were so many people here! Wern had just arrived too, and she was still waving a quick 'hello' when Vieka came back asking about baking supplies. "Yes, it's all---" She started replying to the masked woman when Wern's clockwork doll-ball escaped his bag, apparently having a fit and darting aimlessly across the living room, hitting everything on the way. Edelweiss had always been a calm and collected person, and it took quite a lot to startle her. Those messed cushions on the couch? She could rearrange them. The fallen chair over there? Just had to lift it back up again. Even so, it'd be hard to mistake the look of utter horror on her face as Goya almost crashed against the delicate glass gear box that was on the table - and the only reason Goya didn't really slam on it was because the redhead ran to grab and hold it away from the oncoming clockwork ball's trajectory. A blank expression took over her face as she watched speechless as Goya proceeded to declare his clockwork love for her while repeatedly 'headbutting' Amon's foot. In her mind, the redhead was pondering if it would be a crime to crush a man's balls if those are made of talking metal. Too tired to actually act on those thoughts though.
"Very well... you two won. And thank you (and your guild)." She relented to Amon and Kalum, feeling kind of breathless and picking each of the gifts they were holding out along the gear box (definitely had to get those somewhere safer) and then responded to Vieka while pointing the same way she had directed Solanna to a minute before. "The kitchen is over there, just let me take these gifts to my room and change into decent clothes first and then I'll show where the baking things are." She turned to leave and sneak back into her bedroom for the next minutes, but not before whispering back to Amon: "And for your information, my dear rainy day, to see my birth dress you'd have to arrive when it's a lot less crowded but I can assure you it does not include this robe."
Eryn, the informants didn't plan this party. None of CAEsAL workers did (though they might have planned their own things for later). They know Edel enough to know she'd not like them planning anything in her apartment without her consent and either respect or fear her too much to try pulling a stunt like that.
( ok , so it could just be that Eryn after her mission as she was on her way home instead of back to the dorm where she was meant to go for that party, she just followed Edel back to hers and asked if she could stay the night? while carrying the gift she was meant for later but not knowing about the birthday?. if not i can change the posts? ) Eryn looked confused as mama Edelweiss explained what a birthday was , she had never heard of what years where before , she only know about night and day time. she looked at everyone else who was there , she recognized Papa Amon was there as she gave a wave to him as well as the super creepy lady she didn't like , but all the others where different , there where a few men dressed in green, a woman in a mask who sounded familiar and a man who looked a bit odd and seemed new.
all Eryn could do was watch and be quiet, maybe she could learn a thing or 2 about birthdays.

Amon blinked. Well that was new; it was surprising (and admittedly a tad heart-aching) to see Edel that scared. Once she saved his gift from Wern's screaming ball's rampage, she quickly returned to normal...ish...though he could sorta tell what she was thinking at that moment.
"Whatever you say honeybunny~" he whispered back with a slight smile as he gave her his gift and watch her leave for her room. He gave Eyrn a small wave before returning his attention to the (literal) ball of annoyance screaming and humping his foot. He bent down, picked it up with his mechanical hand, and held it up to observe it properly. Funnily (and luckily for Wern), his fury and need to crush the orb in his hand was overpowered by an acute curiosity to the machine's behavior.
"...Care to explain how and/or why your orb is screaming about love?" he calmly asked, turning to a visibly terrified Wern, pure curiosity coating his voice.
"I will destroy you in the most beautiful way possible! And when I leave, you will finally understand why storms are named after people!" - Taryn, Nerf This
Oh no. For the love of everything. Goya had ran into so much. Wern hadn’t noticed, far too busy trying to get the orb, but when Edelweiss reached for the trinket— the gear box, goodness gracious. He noticed. And noticed her fear. Noticed how, less then five minutes of him being there, everything had gone down hill.
Part of Wern wished that it wasn’t 8 in the morning. It was far too early to drink, but gears, he wanted to. Perhaps the tea could be spiked. Perhaps he could overdose on sugar. Die slowly in a peaceful bliss, instead of by Amon. For with the flirtatious actions between Amon and Edelweiss—or at least what appeared to be flirtatious as they leaned into each other, giving each other whispers while Goya knocked into Amon’s foot— made Wern even more terrified. Something told him that his boss and the red haired individual were anything but just acquaintances. Which meant that Goya would not be swept under the rug. Or, perhaps they would. Just in pieces. And torn apart. And perhaps on fire. And oh cogs, Edelweiss took away the presents.
“Ah, wait, Edelweiss!” Wern called, trying to hold up his present, but it was too late. She was already gone. And Amon. Oh goodness. He picked up Goya. With his metallic hand? Was he going to crush them?
“Oh, sir, I’m so sorry.” Wern held out his hand, timid, unsure of whether to snatch Goya away, risking offending his guild leader, or to let Goya meet their fate. Both were equally painful.
“Do not stand in the way of love, stranger. Take me to the dual voiced angel, or you shall be labeled as an evil fiend.” Goya twirled in Amon’s grasp, and Wern winced, hoping that the man couldn’t feel the burn of the other’s spin. Though that would be rude wouldn’t. He hoped that he could feel something, just maybe not that, and oh gosh he should really stop. Approaching the rather calm Amon, Wern fumbled with his hands as he spoke.
“Um. I think it’s my father’s programing?” He started, holding onto Edelweiss’ gift tightly, really wanting a drink right then. “Goya gets like that sometimes— um. It started when I first met Edelweiss— and Lasair, and a few others, but um. I think it has something to do with some other things?” Wern babbled, tensing his shoulders even more as he tried to explain, failing miserably. “Again, I’m so sorry sir. I didn’t mean to, uh, interrupt.” He nudged toward Edelweiss’s room, before he blushed and took Goya away from Amon, not wanting to risk the other crushing the orb, especially since Goya was speaking of “the electricity that made their gears click.”
“Um, here. This is for Edelweiss.” Wern held out his present to Amon, holding Goya as he looked to the floor. “I, uh, think I should take my leave.”

She'd pressed her fist under her chin to try and restrain herself, but a loud "Snrk!" Still managed to escape her, the doctors shoulders shaking with contained laughter and the hilarity of the situation in front of them. In the numerous encounters she'd had with both her guild leader and the leader of the entertains, she had never seen a more amusing show. Edel looked the most annoyed the dark haired woman had ever seen her and lets face it, having a random steel ball declare their love for your 'boss' was going to be funny in every and all rights. One of the downsides to wearing a mask all the time meant she couldn't cover her mouth to stop the bubbles of laughter however, So she opted from just tensing up and snickering to herself as she watched the scene unfold. Whoever this fellow with the talking ball was, she could tell she was going to gain much enjoyment from their misfortunes.
Once settled down some, she turned her general attention to the hunter instead, thinking back on his question. "I hadn't intended on your help." She stated dryly, traces of a bitter tone dancing in her voice before she sighed. Baking enough for the amount of people here would be difficult on her own, no matter how skilled she was in the kitchen. "However if your going to be useful and not get in my way, I suppose I could use your help." She relented, only for the fact that even if she was rather peeved with the man, she could still tolerate his presence more than most.

The mess that unfolded before them only served to remind the rather exhausted soldier as to why he did not particularly like large crowds. His grey eyes scanned over the short but larger man, the man with the metal arm--oh good he wasn't ander or at least wasn't in a visible sense, and then there was Edel or was Edel until she left. A mostly sane group save for the screaming orb. As he exhaled, his proper form sank a little and quickly returned when Vieka spoke up once more. Her reply brought his brows to quirk in the briefest of movement before settling once more as a pleasant and polite smile occupied his lips. "Ah, I can see I have vexed you once more, miss Vieka. Beg pardon, I do not wish to aggravate you any further." With a hand tucked behind his back, he bowed lightly while keeping his gaze at her mask. "Have a good day, miss." When he straightened he turned his attention to the other two and gave a curt nod. "I should be taking my departure now--it seems Edelweiss has quite the handful to tend to already and one less may be a blessing. Wish the miss a happy birthday for me and good day to you, sirs," he spoke to Amon and Wern respectively then gave Vieka one last glance as he touched his forefinger and middle finger to his forehead to pull away in a wave.

(This was better earlier, almost as beautiful as Jasper's gift, but computer got stupid and deleted it. On another note, Jasper is arriving a bit later than everyone else so yeah.) With his sloppily wrapped gift in hand, Jasper walked to his guildleader's home and join the crowd of other loitering guests waiting to get in. "Happy birthday!" The blue-haired street performer exclaimed when he'd finally made his way to his guildmaster, presenting the hastily wrapped gift to her and smiling ear to ear. Until this morning, he had no idea what kind of party this was going to be, just (1) it was a party and (2) there would be free food - and sweets at that. It took a bit more prodding to uncover who the party was for.
When he learned this was a party for his superior, he was more than happy to purchase a gift the unwitting host/victim. Contained within the simple, slim, cardboard box was an exquisitely-crafted diamond pendant shaped like his leader's namesake flower. It was a fake, really nothing more than a piece of durable costume jewelry, which even the untrained eye like Jasper could see. But it was breathtaking nonetheless; and it had better, given its price. Despite being fashioned from an inexpensive crystal substitute, the accessory sold for quite a pretty penny, even after a bit of Jasper's "persuasion."

His comment quite frankly only served to agitate her more, and where as she had been so amused before, she shoulders her were now stiffening for a completely different reason this time. He was going to ditch her in a group of people again?! drat it all, doesn't he realise she's always hacked off by now? Growling agitatedly, She waited for the male to start his trip outside before following after him, stepping outside the door and out of view before she reached forward and grabbed the fluff on his collar. "Oi!" the woman growled out, unwilling to let him leave.
"If i have to deal with this lot so do you! you are not ditching me in a mob of people again with so little as a 'see ya' again." She huffed, totally not bitter at all. Still, at least she's pretty much laid out before him what he did wrong so he wasn't guessing. Honestly, what did he expect though? On another note, she really, really didn't want to be stuck with a group of people she barely knew.

The tug to his collar had done its job in halting the soldier in his tracks. With his back to the woman, Kalum's small smirk was easy to hide. Before the man turned to face the short woman, he took a moment to compose himself and let his features drop back into his typically exhausted manner though he lifted his brows in feigned surprise. "Beg pardon? Miss Vieka, I came initially only to deliver a present on behalf of the military in honor of an upstanding woman's birthday. I had no intentions of ditching you and if I did before hand then I must apologize from the very bottom of my heart," claimed the soldier as he placed a hand over his left breast where his heart would naturally reside. "My intentions were never to wound you," he continued and gave a pause as he peered passed the auburn haired woman into the building where people mingled among one another. His thin upper lip pressed against the thicker lower one to form a line across his face as he seemed to contemplate something. "Alright," resolved the soldier, "I suppose a few more moments longer will be pleasant. Baking was it? I would like to help." And again his eyes found her mask as the corners of his lips upturned in a smile.

Edelweiss had already placed her hand on the door knob to her bedroom, the opposite arm busy trying to balance that small pile of a couple gifts plus the glass gear box on top, when she heard a cheerful voice greeting her 'Happy birthday!'. Turning around, she was met with the sight of Jasper holding out his own gift to her. At some distance behind there was Vieka sneaking out the front door in masked-stalker fashion, Kalum wasn't in sight anymore and Wern seemed to be giving something to Amon, but with how crowded her house was at the moment the redhead wasn't able to hear what they were saying above the chatter noise. To her tired and sleep-deprived self who was still stuck in that long robe, the still closed door at her back was a highly tempting invitation to a room of peace and silence (and a safer place to keep those gifts) - but she couldn't simply ignore all that was happening and pretend those people weren't there.
So, for the less stressing course of action she could think of, she decided to focus on Jasper first. She knew he was older than he looked, but that combo of childlike expression and blue hair plus being visibly shorter than her did make him look as young as one of the informants in her guild and she couldn't keep the hint of a soft smile showing on her lips at how excitedly happy he greeted her. "Thanks Jasper." She responded to the greeting while taking her palm away from the knob and reached out for his gift. It was in a small cardboard box, and she had to fiddle around with it for a moment before managing to open it with only one hand. "...Wow, this is really beautiful." And fake as a gemstone, she could see it, but that detail didn't matter. An edelweiss jewel, that one was new and pretty sweet of a thought. "Thanks." She took a second to gingerly place the cardboard box along the gift pile and ruffled Jasper's hair, then turned back to open the room's door again. "Sorry, I have to change into some decent day clothes and put these gifts where people won't damage them, but you can enjoy the-- uh... party... while that. I'll be back soon." And she slipped into the room.
"You don't have to go," Amon responded to Wern, raising an eyebrow. "As hectic as it is, I don't think she'd mind if you stayed..."
"Ah, speaking of!" he said as he dashed to Edel's room, he just caught a glimpse of her taking another gift from someone before darting into her room.
"Ah...drat..." he muttered before lightly tapping on her door. "Edel? Sorry about this, but you have one more gift, this one from Wern..." he said, somewhat meekly, hoping to not annoy her.

At Amon’s suggestion, Wern winced, glad that the other had run off to tend to Edelweiss. If he had bid him off, then there would have been no obligation. But now, if he left, it would seem odd. Sighing, he patted the orb, who shook in his arms. “Where is dual voiced angel?” “Hush Goya.” Looking around, Wern tried to figure out something he could do. There was an angry woman— Vieka, if he remembered correctly from the other party rushing to catch up to a man (supposed lover, perhaps?) Wern could not discern. But regardless, the scene looked horrifying. Then a blue haired boy next to Edel room looked…. Different? Blue hair? Goodness. What is with this town? Frowning, Wern followed his guildleader, unsure of what else to do. “Um, sir. Can I help with anything then? And if she doesn’t want to take it, right then, I, uh, don’t mind holding it.” Wern stated, already pushing Goya back into his bag as the orb screamed “Let my love run free, like birds, over the sea” in an attempt to sing some old shanty.

There were a couple seconds of silence as Edelweiss thought and turned back towards the door (from the inside side this time), then the sound of it being unlocked and pulled ajar as minimally as affordable. "You can leave it on the bed. Lock the door again after you pass." Only Amon. She didn't want Goya breaking anything in her bedroom, and even if not counting the round-shaped clockwork doll 3 people (and any number above 3) in there would be too much. If they may be so kind, she hoped Wern and Jasper could keep each other company and keep that partying mob outside her house's private areas. Like Stephannie seemed keen of doing: the fluffy cat had been quietly sleeping on her fancy little cat bed in the corner of the room, but slipped outside when the door was unlocked once again.
The other gifts had been neatly placed on the corner of the bed, so Amon could leave Wern's there along them. Edelweiss was just fetching a random hairtie from the nightstand's drawer anf then slipped behind the curtain of the closet space to choose a set of clothes. As tempting as staying in that robe the whole day felt right then, that just wouldn't be right.

Jasper could help but giggle as the red-head ruffled his hair, one of the consequences of acting so young he guessed, not that he minded. "Of course." The juggler answered as Edel suggested he go and enjoy the party, ignorant of her hesitation. As his guildleader disappeared behind her room door, he turned to join one of the still growing crowds but stopped before he came near face to face with a rather nervous-looking man.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't see you there," he said before pausing to scan the room for any familiar faces. Unfortunately, it seemed no one he recognized was here just yet; instead, he decided to wait around the door and try making small talk with the older man. "So," he said to Wern, smiling cordially, "enjoying the party?"
