Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Amon blinked. "...Huh...useful trick...should probably raise my Unarmed Combat," he said, flexing his mechanical arm. It was better that she handled that; though he wanted to resolve that without conflict, he was one more personal space invasion from delivering a mechanical throat punch. "Thanks."
"So, we almost there?"

Skye remained silent and observed. There was more to Edel than she was letting on. For that level of combat efficiency she was certainly more than just a simple artist or administrator. He followed along, even more curious now as to what type of situation they were walking into.

"Amon, you're never unarmed." The redhead stated quietly, but with a snicker. Should she recall that pistol again (which Skye already knew of and was shown personally)? "Though I sometimes wonder, does your arm qualify as a club weapon..." She mused, mostly a casual thought spoken aloud, before catching Skye's analytical look.
"Yes yes we're almost there--- Did this little drunk encounter shock you, Val? If so, my apologies... or is there something else crossing your mind?" She did warn him before that no current guild leader got their positions without being able to handle a fight, in varied manners, so albeit there being indeed things she's not telling him her combat skills weren't something she was actively hiding at the moment.
The building was quite large, but just getting through the front lobby already took them to where they should go: large double doors with a sign written "Gymnasium" on top and "Gymnastics Practice Room / Security Tracks" in smaller letters bellow it. There were different rooms on the back of the building and the floors above, but none were going to be seen today. Edelweiss walked straight in, passing by the actual running tracks and practice equipment and the groups of people using it (most of them bouncers or otherwise part of CAEsAL's open security system, so for all effects all that could be seen around was actually legal and properly documented), and walked up to a silver-eyed little girl wearing a ballerina tutu in the corner. Pearl. She was just standing there, leaning a dainty hand for support against a punchbag and making the most bored face ever as they approached her.

"Except when I take my arm off," Amon joked, musing with the idea that his arm was more weaponized than he thought.
He merely raised an eyebrow at Skye's demeanour, but otherwise stayed quiet, simply enjoying the sights until they approached a familiar figure.
"Hey Pearl, long time no see!" he said with a smile, raising a hand in greeting.

Skye shook his head at Edel's question, "No just being observant, there's little that shocks me anymore." A simple answer without going into his full thought process.
As they entered the building he continued to be observant, noting their route and their surroundings. He especially noted the security personnel. He'd never really paid all that much attention to such things before, other than the fact that they were legal employees. He was more interested in how well organized they were in their actions and training. He'd always considered the bouncer types to just be muscle bound jocks who could simply hold their own against drunks and creeps. More eye openers. Perhaps if things didn't work out with BoR he could find a place in CAEsAL's security division.
Now they were approaching a little girl...was that the same one from the coffee shop who'd run after Andro? He wasn't sure, most kids seemed the same to him, and he liked to avoid them. He'd never been all that comfortable around kids, even his own daughter. Maybe if he'd spent more time at home and less in the field things would have turned out differently.

"Hello." Pearl replied to Amon, raising a hand in greeting to Amon as well but without leaving her spot. She definitely was not Jade. For once, Pearl was half a head shorter, sounded a lot less childlike, and the wintery colorscheme of her pale platinum hair and silver irises made a high constrast when compared to Jade's colorful summer tones of green eyes and brown hair. But even so, they both were still short, had acess to similar-styled dressed and both were girls... so it wasn't all that strange Skye would have mistaken one for the other. "Newcomer? If you're taking a tour around I'd recommend stopping to watch the ribbon gymnastics group, they're pretty good." The girl asked while eyeing Skye, the same bored-looking expression on her face as before.
Edelweiss gave all that an eyeroll. "Pearl, it's alright. He's a friend too." And the amused look only grew on the redhead's face as Pearl's pokerface look was instantly dropped in exchange for one of mild panic as she turned back to look at the punch bag and try to pull off her own hand from it, even getting to the point of kicking the thing and groaning. She wasn't actually leaning on it for support, she was outright stuck. Her claws were stuck, to be more precise - the otherwise ordinary-looking nails of her little fingers were only looking that normal and human because about 2 thirds of them were sunk in the material that covered the punchbag and she couldn't take them out.
That was the 'little emergency' that had interrupted their game. Pearl got her hand stuck and no one had managed to pull her out. "Edeeeeelll why did you take so loooonnng?!?! Wipe me a sheat and call me Excalibur, I'll be stuck here for years on end till a scrawny kid called Arthur releases me from my stony prison!" "Calm down, I'll un-stick you from there, but you have to stop pulling first." She stated with an awkard chuckle.
It took Amon half a second to realize why Pearl didn't (couldn't) move.
"I'm sorry, but...how?" he said, doing his best (and somewhat failing) to not laugh.
"Anything I can do to help?" he asked, slowly recovering from his fit.

Ok, maybe the kid wasn't so bad. First appearance she looked like a regular spoiled brat, but now that they were getting to the matter of the actual truth. At least she was intelligent enough to make a King Arthur reference. Those with a taste for good literature were hard to find. So many youth these days just had too much energy to sit still and read a book. Always out running around.
Well, at least this one wasn't doing any running. Not with her hand stuck in the bag. Nothing around was as it seemed anymore. So many that appeared perfectly human turned out to be Anders. It only enhanced his desire to bring the two races together. So what if they used magic, so what if they bled black. So much persecution for so little of a reason. But how to make such a huge change?
He stood silently, his thoughts churning as he watched, ready to lend a hand if he was told.

"Nice to see my plight amuses you two so much." Pearl thought sarcastically, seeing how both the eyepatched mechanic and Edelweiss were reacting. Good thing she's an educated girl, and could hold back the urge of hissing at them like an angry cat despite her girly ballerina outfit. She couldn't gauge what Skye was thinking at all though, so focused her attention back on the question Amon had asked. "I was practicing pirouettes, then I tripped, and grabbed this thing to not fall face first. And then I got stuck." She stated with a bit of exhasperation in her voice before managing to convince herself to stopping pulling so Edel could help. How long had she been standing there already? It felt like hours.
Edelweiss looked closer at Pearl's stuck hand. The claws were sunk in really deep indeed, and it appeared the strands of fabric were getting pulled in the opposite way the girl pierced them, which was totally not helping her case either. "Well, you'll get out the same way you got in. Let's see..." If she had tripped and grabbed it... The redhead walked till behind her, mentally measuring a step a half for Pearl's legs and then lifted her up by the waist, just slightly off-ground and in a bit of an awkward diagonal position. "Amon can you hold her like this so my own hands will be free, please?"

"Uh..." Amon hesitated. On one hand (ha), Pearl was an Ander; on the other hand, she probably wouldn't be comfortable being handled that way by someone she didn't know. Plus it be a good chance to see if his arm can withstand Ander contact now.
"Sure," he said, wrapping his left arm around Pearl's waist, using his right arm as support.
Well...better safe than sorry.

Free to move again once Amon had a hold on the young girl, Edelweiss instructed Pearl to make a 'clawing' motion with the hand that was stuck and then pressed her own palm right under - keeping the bag's surface straighneted up while her other hand unplucked Pearl's fingers from the punching bag one by one with an almost ridiculous practiced ease. Not counting the part about having to hold a child up in a really strange position that was pretty much how she removed her needles from someone ...erh, from something when they get stuck.
"Alright, you're free from your 'stony prison', young lady."
"This was the most ridiculous way I ever passed my afternoon..." She muttered while waiting for Amon to settle her back on her feet.
"Wouldn't have happened if you were wearing gloves. Which reminds me: why aren't you wearing gloves, Pearl? You never had a problem with them before."

Once Edel freed Pearl, Amon just couldn't help himself anymore.
"Well now, King Arthur, I'm sure it was all a test to find the true king! Now I present to you: Excalibur!" he said, presenting Pearl to Edel.
She was totally going to kill him later.
Worth.

Was that a hint of a smile at the corner of Skye's mouth? Well it was cute scene to watch, what with the girl in the tutu, Amon holding her, and Edel working so diligently to get her freed. The two were a cute couple when working together. He wondered if this was the norm around here. Was Edel always running off to save her members, even from themselves? She was certainly dedicated to her members, and that was good. Who else was going to look after them. Certainly not the system and certainly not the man who wanted to round all Anders up and ship them off to camps.
Skye gave a polite clap as the whole thing resolved itself. He had to admit, he was curious as to why the girl wasn't wearing her gloves as well.

Pearl just glanced over her own shoulder to spot Amon's face, an utterly unimpressed look of her own before stating all serious: "You are a terrible Merlin. "
Edelweiss was trying to not laugh and obviously failing while picking up Pearl from the mechanic's arms and left her back on her feet, and had to wipe a little mirthful tear by the end she heard Skye clapping and turned to look back at him. He looked like he had fun watching that. "Glad to see I'm not the only one amused here."
Pearl still took a while to tell why of her lack of gloves though. It was really uncomfortable, awkward topic for her and she felt uneasy talking of that in front of other people, although she didn't even know why. "My claws are getting longer." She finally said, voice barely more than a whisper. "The gloves aren't fitting right anymore. The seams get stuck on the claw tips, and it itches, and aches when I pull the fabric to fit." Feline problems. "It didn't hurt before... Am I getting sick?" "No, you're just growing. We'll find new gloves for you later then. I heard of a place that sells them inbued with comfort charms, might as well check it when the shop's open." "Why can't I just stay without gloves? No one else needs to practice with them on." "... I know it's annoying, but you have to bear with it. It's better than letting the wrong people know you're Ander." "It's not fair." "If you expect the world to be fair to you because you are fair, you're fooling yourself. That's like expecting shadowbeasts won't eat you because you didn't eat them." The redhead gave a pat on Pearl's head. "I'm sorry. Maybe things will get better someday; when you're older."
