Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Skye listened to both their arguments, obviously Amon was not going to be swayed, and Skye get the man credit for that. He stuck to his beliefs. When they were finish the man smiled. Not only were they playing an interesting game and learning about lying because of it, they were somewhat getting to know a bit more about each other. What did the man have to hide anymore. He had no responsibilities, and his secrets were worth nothing in the long run.
"Technically Amon is correct. I was never very close to my father, but my mother was always supportive. It is true, however, that I never wanted to be in the military. In fact, I ran away my first week at the Academy." It was too bad they'd eventually caught him and given him the choice of jail or service. As it turned out, he'd ended up in Jail anyway.

"So I've lost this round." And that made it Amon's turn... as well as caused her to let out a short laugh. "I assume running away didn't work very well... but at least here you are now." She didn't feel upset for losing this time though. It wasn't a game made for a single person to win a lot of consecutive turns, they all learned more if each had their time. Also it was true that not winning didn't get anyone hurt, and there were still 23 doughnuts (22 if Amon claims his rightful victory prize) waiting for her in those boxes. So she just relaxed on her seat and waited to hear what Amon would tell them.

"Well...this ended up being a very useful exercise," he said, taking a glazed doughnut. Normally he'd let Edel have it...but this time, he wanted to savor his insignificant victory.
And sweet victory it was.
"Let me see..." Amon said after giving some thought (and bites of doughnut). Edel pretty much knew his past, so he didn't feel like giving that to her...plus he didn't feel like sharing it with Skye. His major secret was a big no-no.
Oh!
There was one ace he didn't mind sharing with his comrades.
"I'm actually pretty useless in combat," Amon eventually said with a bit of an apologetic grin. "This arm of mine seems pretty sturdy, but it's a lot more fragile than it looks; took forever to prevent it from twitching around Anders..."

"False. There's a gun hidden in there and I know you can shoot. Not to mention reflexes - and a hit from a metallic fist is bound to hurt nonetheless." She could remember oh so very well that time the mechanic had sneaked into her family house back when she was recovering from an injury some months ago and she'd mistaken him for a thief; he had got a spatula pressed to his neck and showed no reaction of actual fear or faint-feeling (now that she recalled it in her mind he had looked ready to punch back if she had given time enough for it), and the knowledge about that hidden gun came from the same event as well. That memory isn't going to erase itself so soon.

Skye just laughed as Edel gave no pause at all before her answer, she was so vigilant and decisive in her answer it was as if she could already taste the doughnut. When he was finished he took a moment to compose himself again. He knew this was a lost cause but he had to defend the opposite either way.
"True," he began just as decisively, "gun or not hidden in there he said that he was useless in combat. A hidden gun does not make a combatant and if you get enough Anders around it won't work anyway. Sure it will hurt, but if someone hits me with a steel fist I know exactly where to start chopping." He finished with a smug grin.

Don't snort, don't snort, don't snort... and she snorted. That smug grin was just priceless. "The rest of him isn't useless either. Hence the nice reflexes, picking up details and he doesn't swoon under pressure. Besides, shooting isn't the only thing a firearm can be used for: think of improvised club weaponry."

"Well so much for that..." Amon said, a mixture of surprise and amusement on his face at how fast Edel reacted, grinning at her compliments. "Just take your doughnut already. As for you Val: if that was really what you thought, great. If not, I still need work...or the right people..."
After he said this, he threw a straight punch, revealing the hidden gun at the same time. "Needless to say, I don't need to shoot and punch separately you know..."

"I love you, my sweet little thing." She was casually talking to the jam-filled doughnut that's now in her hand (and soon having a bite taken off). But she loves you too, Amon.
"Alright, my turn again." She thought for a moment before choosing what to speak again. "....I only sporadicaly meet my family. Even so, every time we meet, my mother invariably tells me being a female guild leader is 'too intimidating for gents to approach' and that I should retire and 'focus on getting married like a proper lady must'. She also believes Amon is a figment of my imagination I invented just to soothe her worries of dying without any grandchildren." And then she went back to nomming the aforementioned doughnut while awaiting for their responses.

Skye blinked a few times at that statement and then cocked his head like a dog. It was too ridiculous not to be true, but she was an Ander, were her parents so normal when discussing her dating habits? He really had no idea and no inclination of which way to go, so he decided to just go with False.
"I'm going to say that's a false statement. Why would anyone's parents want them to take a lower station in life? I don't agree with my parents decision to push me into the military, but they did it for my benefit. I'm sure they thought I would end up as a thief or pirate if they didn't. Oh, the Irony. Good thing they live rather far away."
"Sonofa- that's two for two! Stop stealing my answers!" Amon internally screamed, despite his calm exterior. Truth be told, he didn't know much about Edel's mom, other than what she told him during their personal history talk; though if something like this were to happen, he was sure she'd tell him, meaning that this was false.
Ah well.
"But remember Val, everyone has different parents with different circumstances," he replied. "Some parents don't want their kids to have an elevated position, whether out of jealousy or spite. In this case, it's cultural: though we may not see it as often (due to a combination of our personal beliefs, changing times, and being surrounded by capable women), society believes that women are only a step or two above Anders. And that belief can run deep, hence her mother's reasoning. So to make a long story short: true."

"She is neither the jealous nor spiteful type... but I must question, if you were an average-minded EIRAL officer and found out someone in an important role had magic inheritage, what would be done to them? In general an Ander having any sense of control or empowerment is seen as a threat, no matter how honest they might be. My work guarantees me a fairly comfortable life, but my mother really believes I'd be safer being just a wife rather than a leader (and she has a little obsession with becoming a grandma yes) - I just don't agree with her on the matter and made clear I won't quit, and she doesn't force me in into anything, so it's just a mildly aggravating curiosity for anyone who meets her rather than an important fact." And even if she had found it important, she had only met her mother after the last time she'd seen Amon (before now) so it's not like she could have told him that beforehand. "So yes, ridiculous as it sounds it's true. Amon gets the doughnut."

"I will admit, if I'd met you earlier in my career and found that you were an Ander in such a position of power, I would have reported you, but I was as blind as Alistair when it came to understanding. There is a powerful gap between believing and understanding that even the most well made bridge has trouble crossing." He shrugged and watched another doughnut disappear. After the first one he was now craving another, but her game was making its point. It was hard telling the truth from the lies, especially if real life events were woven into the fabric.
"Huh..." Amon replied. So it was true. Granted, he was gone for a month, so Edel just never got around to telling him. "...Should probably meet her at some point...or I could continue to be a part of your "wildest" imaginations~" he continued with a sly grin. "Oh, you can have mine," he said, giving the doughnut to her.
Ah, here's one...
"Val, you haven't met them yet, but I was able to build twin clockwork dolls: Abby and Abe. Thing is, they're both 3 feet tall. Well, I did that on purpose in order to see if smaller scale models worked before I worked on the larger models."

"Hmm... I'll bet on true. Their parts are smithed, right, they're not like a pastry dough that's left in the oven to grow. If you didn't want to make them small, you could simply start making the parts already big." Edelweiss guessed while accepting the doughnut. Hello doughnut. And "Thanks." Amon gained a kiss on the cheek for giving it to her. "....And yes, you should meet someday. I'll have to think of a nice time for it later."
"All power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." - John Dalberg-Acton
"I don't believe Amon would make anything small, he seems more of the go big or go home type of engineer. So I'm going to say false. Why test out a small version when you can just built it big and tinker until it works." He spoke as if he had any idea of what he was talking about. He'd seen clockwork dolls before but he wasn't even sure how one would go about making one. He didn't really have more than that without going into the realm of complete bull crap.
