Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
"Interesting perspective," he said in response to her first statement, and then to Amon he added, "We do have those who take part in rather covert missions and learn the art of subterfuge, but personally I've always been a soldier, and even in Command I acted outright and truthful. Though in retrospect that seems to have landed me without an eye and a girl." He shrugged, letting that extra bit of information out there, though he wasn't sure why he'd added it to his comment.
He returned his attention to Edel, taking in the three things and nodding after each. He would certainly have to think on who Val was, and what his full name might be. What did he do? Where did he come from? As she spelled it all out it seemed like common sense. What questions would he be asking of someone else if he were on a patrol as an EIRAL sergeant? "Very easy, it makes perfect sense when you put it like that, however the execution I shall have to work on."
Amon pinched the bridge of his nose. "...Yeah...this is going to take a lot of work..." he muttered as he heard Skye...Val's explanation. As he listened to Edel, he started coming up with his own ideas and suggestions.
"...Considering Sk- Val's previous mannerisms, I think it'd be best to stick to your truths idea Edel," Amon said after some contemplation. "More specifically, half-truths: that way the only thing you need to worry about is omission of certain facts rather than the creation of faulty ones..."

Skye's comments on how he acted while he'd been a soldier brought up a sad smile from Edelweiss. "That was a noble way to go about it, though sadly enough being fully truthful is also a priviledge few have... as I'm sure you've learned from Cait even before your rescue." That's the least that could be said in that broken country of theirs. Even not all humans had the choice to be outright and true the whole time, and for an Ander a life of lies was the sentence given since birth - pretend to be human to the best of their skills everyday, lest they'd be shunned in the best of days and killed in the worst ones. But Skye had not expressed any shock from the fact his own active rescue party was composed by magic users, so he should be already aware of that to some degree. "In a brighter retrospect though, you've had a 'queen' assembling 3 other 'rulers' (and a couple other people and more 2 soldiers on the way out) just to bring you back. You might have landed without an eye, but not without a girl's devotion (although how you handle that isn't something for me to meddle in)."
Amon's comments earned a nod from her. "Sounds like the best approach. Along some expression training. ...Up for a small game of 'True or False', you two? Might be a good way to start it."
He nodded to both of them. It was true that he'd gained some measure of devotion and he was now actually working with the other guilds. There was power in unity. Only a United Lodan would be able to stand against the real enemy they should be focusing on. Instead Alistair was tearing everything apart on his crusade against Anders.
"However you think we should proceed, you are the teacher," he smiled while folding his arms across his chest. It was an unconscious indication of his unease at stepping into something so foreign.
Amon shrugged. "I'm game," he said, settling himself into the couch.

'Skye would be an horrid player at poker', was the first thought that crossed the redhead's mind as she saw him moving to cross his arms with that anxious demeanor, but so be it. He wouldn't need to go around playing poker, and she decided something simpler like just a game of questions and answers would be best at least for the moment. A short moment later Ember came back holding 2 boxes containing 12 assorted doughnuts each, Edelweiss paid him and he went away again after leaving the boxes on the table.
"Alright, now the rules: I'll say something about myself, you two decide if it's true or false (and why). Don't pick the same option." That would get some practice on defending a point of view even if they don't agree with it, though Amon in all likelihood should be great at that already by having Alistair as a regular customer. "If you guess right, or convince the other you're right even if you're not, you win the round (and a doughnut) and make the next statement about yourself - and so on. Starting with, hm..."
She thought for a couple seconds, then smiled and spoke: "My name is Edelweiss Fjäril, I lead the CAEsAL guild and am 25 years old."
"Well that seems to be an easy one," he said, relaxing his posture a bit, "It's your age, since you told me what your name is and what you do. Of course I suppose that could have been a lie as well, but I don't see what you'd have to gain from it."
He smiled with the assurance that he was correct on this point, but he had a feeling it might just get harder from this point onward.

Edelweiss raised an eyebrow at that answer. "So, you pick 'False' under the assumption that if not everything then something I said would be a lie?" She asked, just to make sure since he hadn't outright picked neither True nor False in his response. If so, that would leave Amon to defend the 'True' option, and if not maybe Skye just didn't get the game rules well... So for now the redhead just looked between the two of them while waiting for a reply.

Amon shook his head, clicking his tongue. Sk- Val (might as well get in the habit just in case) guessed the lie correctly; Edel was actually 26, with her 27th coming up next month.
"...Should really start thinking of a present," he thought. But for now, Amon had to convince Val that he was wrong.
"All of it is true," Amon said, shaking his head. "She's my girlfriend, I should know; besides, you really think that she'd lie to you right off the bat?"

Skye looked from Edel to Amon and back, then nodded. He hadn't understood the game at first but now with Amon's comment it was starting to sink in. It was a debate game, kind of. "I definitely think she'd lie to me right off the bat, and "because she's my girlfriend" isn't really that great of an argument. After all, I was dating Caitlin and there was much and more she either withheld or lied about."

Thew redhead ended up snickering when heard their responses, even though she tried not to. She couldn't help it, but there was also the thought that maybe Skye would catch up to this earlier than she initially guessed. Although his reasons for the guess had seemed a tad derived from confusion, he still got it right and stood his ground.
"Good calling. I'm 26 (and almost 27)." She clarified and reached out a doughnut from the boxes to Skye still with a smile on her face. "Now it's your turn, Val. Try to mislead us."
"All power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." - John Dalberg-Acton
Skye took a bite of his doughnut and consider what he might say. Would they be expecting him to tell the truth, or would they be looking for a lie on his first attempt. He took a little more time, enjoying the flavor as he swallowed his second bite.
"Very well..." he began, still letting the wheels turn in his head. It was hard enough to pick truthful things out as it was to concoct a lie. "I was never close to my parents. They forced me into the military, but I never wanted to be a soldier."
Amon felt a little miffed at not being able to convince Skye.
And then it was his turn.
Jeez...he needed this practice as much as Skye did apparently...
"...And yet you were good at it..." Amon muttered. "...I'm going to say...false."
Lies until proven truthful...worked thus far...

"So then, my bet will be on 'True'." Because rules are rules, but either way she found it a good thing that Amon picked first since she could think of reasons enough for that to be both a truth or a lie. "It's easier to be good at things they like, but there are stances where people can be great at things they hate. And from what I've seen he might as well have been a case of 'becoming the mask', coerced into something he didn't choose but so used to doing it over and over through the years it became like a second nature."
"All power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." - John Dalberg-Acton
And that was precisely why it was such a difficult case. True or not, Skye did a good job here.
But this was a more relaxed environment, where being wrong only meant no doughnuts. Still though...credit where credit is due.
"...I'm still going to stick with false," Amon replied, shaking his head. "If nothing else, you were close to your parents at some point in your life, even if you drifted apart...very rarely do absolutes exist."
