Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

He shrugged to Uriah’s question, giving him a light smile and a “Usually,” as the only answer.
Sitting at the table, he did a quick mental calculation of how much money was wise to put into play. “I’ll start with 30,” he replied to the dealer. He’d only be making small bets in the beginning, and if the need came to pay more money in later, he’d do that.
Reached into his pocket and stood there for a moment before slowly removing his wallet and pulling out some money to play this game. It seemed like Lasair was playing safe and there was never a good to go in to much if you're just going to lose out but there was something itching inside of him that caused him to pull out a bit more before speaking. "Fifty sir. Hopefully you'll deal kindly to me here."
Raising his eyebrow he looked over to the female that had accompanied them... Or more of they were accompanying now since they went straight to the table first. If there was anything he wanted to do it was not only have a good time with those around him but might as well a fair bit of her money home tonight. "Though if I may inquire.. How exactly do we play this game?" He figured now that he was exchanging money now was just as good as any time to ask that question, sounding mildly confused on what the actual goal they were aiming for was.

Sheesh... Danny looked at the two then turned back to Addison. "Put me down fer twen'y." She looked at Uriah.
"Ya ain' never played poker? It's real easy. Yeh'll be dealt two cards, an' those're whatcha build a 'and offa. Dealer'll take bets, ya raise, call, check, wha'ever ya wan', then dealer'll put out the flop, first card tha' everyone gets'ta build offa. We bet, check, fold, call an' whatnot, then when tha's done, dealer players the turn. Second card folks can use. Another round'a bettin', then the river's played. There's one more round'a bettin', then ya all reveal yer cards an' the pot goes ta the winner. There're ten types'a hands tha' ya can work wit. Lowest is 'igh card. Tha' one only wins if nobody else 'as a combo or a 'igher card. Then a single pair, followed by two pairs, an' three of a kind. After tha' ya get inta a straight, which is jus' all yer cards count up in a line. Fer example, ace, two, three, four, five makes a straight. A flush's all five cards're the same suit, so all 'earts or all clubs. Full 'ouse is three of a kind an' a pair are in yer 'and, so if ya got three twos an' two jacks, ya gotta full 'ouse. Next's four'ova kind, sells itself, then a straight flush which is jus' a straight an'a flush at the same time. Lastly ya gotta royal flush, tha's a ten, jack, queen, king, an' ace all of the same suit. So ten'a 'earts, jack'a 'earts, queen'a 'earts, king'a 'earts, ace'a 'earts makes a royal flush, an' tha's pretty much all ya needa know."
Danny waggled her eyebrows at Uriah, then at Lasair. She'd learned a thing or two about gambling in her time.

Having the answer stolen from him made the entertainer a touch annoyed but regardless his smile remained pleasant as he nodded along to Danny's explanation. "Though," he adds on, "If the lass's explanation was not clear, on the first flop, I reveal three cards, then one, then the last card known as the river as she has already explained." While he spoke, he lowered his gaze to the chips and took their offered coinage for exchange of chips then set it before each of them. "As the lot of you are beginning fairly low, I will start out fees low as well. In order to buy a hand, you must pay a total of two chips. The first person, we will begin with the lady, will pay one chip. The second," he gestured to Lasair, "Will place down two chips, then you will place two, and then I will return back to the lass after I place in the house's and she will offer up the last. Once the chips are compiled, I will deal the cards and we will begin." He then gestured to Danny. "Your chip, miss? Set it just in front of you. I will collect it momentarily."

The red head nodded along, thankful for the refresher. Danny’s eyebrow wiggle brought a chuckle out of Lasair as he set his two chips on the table. “Should make for an interesting game.” Gesturing to the lot of them, he looked toward Uriah to set down his two chips before looking back to Danny.
chuckled lightly at the explanation that was given to him, about the game in general and then the wiggle that followed. Taking hold of his pile of chips, the man pulled them in closer and began to examine them. Strange that they decided to use these silly things to keep track of money when they just had to cash some in.. Perhaps receiving individuals for a vast amount of money could cause a shortage but there was no reason to ponder the thought for a long time at all.
"Seems like you find yourself here a lot then." He spoke out towards the female before placing two of the chips in front of him. Understanding the general jest of the game, but when it came down to actually seeing the cards could make a particular difference for when they actually started to play. "Doesn't seem too difficult." Only took a moment before he wondered if he would regret saying that in the end but perhaps there was the tiniest chance it might actually work out with this strange little game.
His attention was slowly drawn to the table that the group was playing on and then those who were walking, talking, laughing, in the background. This wasn't a particularly quite place but at least they seemed to be doing good in business, perhaps good enough for Uriah to attempt a marketing plan towards them to get more.. well they don't really need more exposure as it was so maybe it was a bad idea.

Danny looked at Uriah as she plopped her buy in on the table. "Me? Nah. I don' come 'ere too much, bu' if ya know 'ow ta play when ya do play, less chance'a gettin' duped. Jus' common sense." Danny leaned back and stretched her arms over her head. With any luck, she'd walk away with more money than she started with...

Now that everyone seemed fairly situated with their spots at the table and their coin exchanged for chips, the game could begin. Addison rolled up his sleeves to reveal nothing at his forearms. This would help to allow the others to see the house would not cheat and because it was fairly warm in doors. The deck was then shuffled, offered to one to split then quickly dealt. A card was given to each then himself, then another card was give to each so that they possessed only two. The auburn man then paused without touching his cards yet and looked over the three and gestured to their cards. "Have a look at your cards now and then the betting will begin with the lovely miss at the end," he nodded his indication to Danny.

Lasair kept quiet as the cards were dealt, a soft smile on his lips. When the cards were placed in front of him, he flipped up the corners to get just a slight little peak at them. and then they were back facing down. His expression didn’t change as he looked towards Danny, waiting for her move.
Shifting his gaze, he looked over the rest of the people at the table as the cards were passed out. Copying Lasair with the same corner peaking he looked at his cards for a fair amount thinking on what exactly he could do with them. It really didn't matter till they got around to him, so to entertain himself during the downtime he began to play around and shuffle the chips together. Starting to stack them in various ways to fit some sort of pattern that just came up waiting his proper turn where he would simply call -most- bets made during this time.

Danny watched the two men before dropping her bet into the pot. She didn't look at her cards yet, no point. Besides, she'd be playing these first couple of rounds slow... see if she couldn't figure out the other two's tick. So Danny leaned onto the tabletop and smiled at the two.

Addison quirked his brow at Danny then reached out to gently pluck out her chips from the pile to set neatly before her. "It is customary to leave your chips in front of you first until everyone around the table either calls, raises, or folds. I will then collect them," he explained softly before turning his gaze to Lasair then Uriah, asking each of them whether they would call or not. He'd then add with a small wink towards Danny, "It may be helpful to look at your cards before deciding."

“I’ll call,” Lasair said simply as he set a couple chips forward. It would be most fun to get this game rolling. However he wasn’t sure if he could be the one to get the ball rolling.
Uriah pondered and took a look at his cards and simply smiled lightly before re-positioning his chips and calling out. "I'll call as well." There didn't seem any reason to raise or fold so early... At least he thought so.

Danny sighed quietly and waited. When it was her turn, she dropped her bet back into the pot. "Raise ten." She settled back into her chair and took a peek at her cards now. She lifted the edge closest to her to reveal a queen of hearts and two of spades. Just her luck...
