Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

"This is Lasair, he's just taking a look around." The redhead added to both Ikuze and the kids since he had started the introductions but skipped his name, and a second later added: "Ikuze is dating another friend of mine though, so I must ask you not to flirt with her."
Not that she thought Ikuze might get flirty with the new guy, but mentioning that would be less awkward than letting Lasair get wrong 'ideas' about Ikuze, or let Ikuze have wrong ideas about Edelweiss like the redhead being there on a date herself. And it would be really hard (well, harder than normal) to have Lasair meet Stephen and have them get along with each other in the future if the eyepatched noble heard of anything like that happening. And most the kids there seemed to like the grumpy second-in-command, for one reason or another (like being a humanoid grumpy cat for them), so he sure would hear of it if anything happened.
"All power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." - John Dalberg-Acton
Ikuze looked up at the man as he approached, raising an eyebrow as she looked at Edel behind him. She then turned her attention back to the children. "Alright, now remember to practice that Do so ray me stuff. And don't worry if you can't get all the way high or low... everyone's voice is different." she said before standing up and slinging her guitar behind her. "First, lose the huge grin, you look like you've just got out the madhouse with a smile that big." she said rather bluntly. Some of the kids snickered at the comment before they caught their teachers eye on them. "Well? Shoo! It's break time." she said, nodding as they all scarpered off to play, although some didn't go that far, curious little mites that they were.
She returned her attention to the man standing before her. "And aye, I'm Ikuze... and if he did try to flirt, regardless of Sourpuss, he'd probably wind up on the floor clutching his parts." she said, a brief tap of her foot on the floor for emphasis. Her mindset and stance was still in "child-dealing with" mode, and strange men coming up to her like that usually put her straight into what could be called an offensive defensive mode. Offensive with her speech, whilst defensive in case someone tried something. Course if he did, all it would take would be a few words from her lips to make him think he was a trained seal honking on some horns. Or whatever she decided to make him do in the spur of the moment.

His smile faltered, but only for a second. Evidently she wasn’t someone worth his time after all. But he wouldn’t be rude and share that opinion—especially with Edel having described her as a pearl. It would be better to swallow his discomfort and make an effort to avoid running into her again.
Lasair continued to smile, although this one was a bit forced, but only the trained eye would notice that. “My apologies if my flirting insults you, I just can’t help but tell people how great they are. If you receive it as flirting, so be it. I must at least say that you have a lovely voice, however.”
The blue haired girl sighed and rubbed the back of her neck. "Eh, sorry... when I'm with kids I kinda get a wee bit... defensive." she explained. "And last time I saw a man with as big a grin as that coming towards kids..." Ikuze left the sentence unfinished. "But, I'm sure you're not like that, otherwise Edel wouldn't be showing you around the place like she is." said the thief in case she'd managed to offend Lasair again... which she probably had done already. "And about the flirting, sorry, old habits die hard. Most men in this town think no means yes and get lost means take me I'm yours... least until their jewels are being broken... course you get some weird ones that like that kinda thing, which then leads into some of the juice bein' used." Ikuze explained/apologised, hoping to try and smooth over the ruffled feathers of this guy that Edel apparently liked.

He listened to her apology, only somewhat believing it. As she finished her explanation, he shrugged, the expression on his face hardly changing. “It’s alright. I mean the children no harm so you have nothing to worry about there. I find that they can be quite interesting conversationalist if you get them talking. Nothing wrong with that, I hope.”
Glancing over at Edelweiss, he tried to gauge how she had reacted to Ikuze’s aggressive introduction. If this was a normal thing for the blue haired girl, that wouldn’t be good news to Lasair.

Edelweiss' facial expression could almost be called comical at the moment, though she was still managing to keep part of her composure. A line of flustered red was crossing her cheeks and nose, and although it was just a mild blush it still turned pretty obvious against her skin tone; the only thing that would somewhat hide that fact was the half-facepalm motion she was doing with a gloved hand covering half of her own face. This was possibly the most embarrassed and awkward the redhead lass felt after introducing a friend to someone else as far as she could remember.
She didn't know Lasair well enough still to definitely say she liked him, but he had been a pleasant lad so far, and she definitely liked what he and his guild could do for those children's growth. And she did have a trained eye, unfortunately, as it was unavoidable for her to notice how artificial his smile had turned. So not good for diplomatic business. Well, at the very least, her face should be enough for one to notice that was not a reaction she was used to or expected from Ikuze. At least the blue-haired girl tried to fix it after, and Edelweiss could only hope it worked.
The blue haired girl looked at mister fake smile then back to the now completely crimson Edel before she sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Well... as first impressions go, could have gone worse..." she said before holding up one hand almost lazily. "I mean, I could have had you pretend you're a crab for a few seconds." she said, faintly lacing her words with her magic as she snapped her fingers, a sly smirk playing across her face. Probably wouldn't get much points from Edel for it, and she'd no doubt be getting a bollocking for it later from Caitlin... but hell, the guy wanted to have fun with the kids. And there was something about him that she wanted to try out.
The children that hung around watched the exchange and some more gathered around to watch the "show". "What? Kids love a good comedy act." said the thief with a smirk, her words once more laced with her magic as she tried to make Lasair repeat the last six words she'd spoken, sticking her tongue out at him afterwards and winking, smirking as the kids around them seemed to enjoy the "performance" and were eagerly looking towards Lasair to see what he would do in return.

It was a relief when Lasair saw Edel’s face; she didn’t seem too pleased with the way this blue haired girl was acting. When he had received the message to have a meeting with the red head, he had been rather excited and looked forward to it. He could even see it ending with some fun and maybe some drinking. And even if it didn’t end with drinking, he’d probably still head to a bar afterwards. Why is this information relevant now? Well because he had drank some of the potion Medivha had given him just before going to meet Edel, and the effects of it were still in his system.
As Ikuze cast her first spell on him, Lasair felt the tingle of magic, but it didn’t take hold of him. He was confused by what stopped it, but didn’t have a chance to question before Ikuze continued talking, sending another spell at him.
“Kids love a good comedy act,” he said without thinking as he felt anger building in his system. He didn’t know what had stopped the first spell (it was Vieka’s potion) but it didn’t stop the second spell. He was a magic user as well, he could feel its presence when put to use. And he didn’t take kindly to people who abused magic for their own entertainment.
His face hardened into a scowl, eyes narrowed at the shorter woman. “Magic is not a toy. It is to be treated with respect and one should never abuse its powers.” He paused here, letting his harsh tone set it. “However you seem to think otherwise. I’m afraid that I would prefer not to be in your company any longer.” He reached out to poke her, partly for emphasis but also for another reason. He called forth his own magic and centered it in his hand. Even if she swatted his hand away, the magic would still take hold. In a few days she’d come down with a rather nasty cold. Nothing serious, but nothing pleasant either.
Turning around then, Lasair began walking towards the door. The kids would probably hate him now; that couldn’t be helped. He wouldn’t ignore his morals under any circumstance. Edel could follow him if she wanted, but she didn’t have to; he remembered the way out of the building.
(Health II was in the potion, Lasair used Poisons I)

As the following events unfolded Edelweiss stared at Ikuze with a look of complete disbelief, that then became a look of resigned frustration, with a hint of disappointment. No. No, she's not going to talk about this now. But oh Stephen will be screwed when she can put her hands on him now. So, soooooooooo screwed.
Letting out a sigh and rubbing the bridge of her own nose for a second, the redhaired woman turned around to go after Lasair and let Ikuze restart the music lessons she'd been working on before. Still, briefly before closing the door, she decided she should give Ikuze at least a good hint on what was upsetting about all this. There were no spoken words from her, but there was still a good dose of magic laced into that last glance. Enough to extract a single sentence out of the blue-haired guitar player: "Now that the nice guy who could take everyone flying outside is gone I have to buy icecream to all of you."
[Deceit III used] The children were divided. Some watched the exchange between the adults back and forth being very confused as to what was going on, while some others noticed the magic being used around as the high amount of it in the room pricked at their skin. And then a second later the children were gathered, all surrounding Ikuze. Be it for not going out for flying or for going out for icecream, each had a different opinion. Although the vast majority was just wanting the icecream. Only a single little girl chose to follow Edelweiss out of the room instead.
"I'm so incredibly sorry about that." Edelweiss told in apology when she caught up to Lasair - or kinda caught up to him if he continues walking as she speaks. She felt such an almighty urge to groan in frustration at the moment it was taking all her current willpower to not do that. Way to ruin a diplomatic talk.
"Mister are you ok? Mister?" Added the little girl, who had needed to run to chase after them with how fast they were walking compared to her shorter legs. Edelweiss had waited for her to pass before locking the door, but not more than that, so she hadn't had time to change clothes out from that angel costume. Nor time to retract the still kinda humid brown wings.

Lasair was just exiting the building as Edelweiss caught up to him, still huffing slightly as he tried to calm his anger. He continued to walk as she spoke, casting a sideways glance at her. “I would assume it wasn’t your fault. Unless you’re going to tell me you planned to have her behave that way.” If that were the case, well, the MI member would step out of all negotiations whatsoever then. But he did believe that Edel hadn't expected that, which worked in her favor. It was good that he had met the kids first; they were reason enough to keep the line of communication open.
When he heard the little girl’s voice, he looked down at her, slowing his march slightly and softening his frown. “I’m alright,” he said to her. “I just don’t like how the other lady treated me.” He was curious on how the little girl would reply, whether she sides with Ikuze or agreed with him. Lasair wouldn’t think less of her if she sided with the blue-haired woman, kids had all sorts of opinions.
Ikuze rolled her eyes at Lasair as he gave off the rhetoric, even letting him poke her as well. "Hey, some of us use magic to make a living. A few words here and there help loosen up purse strings. Plus it looked like you could use a bit of lightening up Mister Grumpy Britches." she retorted back, ever mindful of the children and holding back from really going full steam on her insults. When he left she sighed and rubbed a hand down her face before she looked at Edel. "Eh... guess I kinda got carried away." she said as the red-head left as well... but not before she found herself saying "Now that the nice guy who could take everyone flying outside is gone I have to buy icecream to all of you."
The thief blinked for a moment before going to the window and pushing it open to look down into the street below before spotting Lasair and Edel. "Maybe next time you should open with that, BEFORE I pull the stupid stunts eh?! If I'd known you were gonna do that, then maybe I wouldn't have done what I did!" she shouted down, clearly irked before she pulled herself back in, grumbling to herself before she spotted the gathering children. She rubbed the back of her head and smiled. "Alright, so, lets go get that ice-cream eh?" she said to them, making sure they were all properly dressed and sorted before leading them outside, and began to lead them towards the nearest ice-cream store.

"I can swear she never acted that way before (at least not that I had seen), but can't blame you if you can't believe that." Siiiigh. "It's hard to get a grip on people who aren't actually my workers, even if they're around a lot." Mainly if they're pirates. Specially if they're a certain blue-haired pirate. Oh the loveable yet unpredictable bunch, Edelweiss sure admired Cait for keeping them sorta under control. Not counting Ikuze. Ikuze is an uncontrollable one-of-a-kind girl.
"Wasn't Miss 'Kuzy just jealous because Edel is giving you a free tour and she had to find her way on her own?" Amber asked, a mild tilt of head denouncing frank curiosity without any hints of neither malice nor taking sides. Her voice was naturally a soft yet slightly raspy whisper, as someone who caught a bad cold, but she wasn't sick in the slightest. "Or maybe she was on her period. My mom used to do really crazy things when she was in the bleeding days, she once yelled at dad for not roasting our potatoes right but she had never asked him to roast them in the first place..." And then while Edel was quickly borrowing a spray of white paint to repaint her wings white and redo the angel costume while they're going to walk outside, Amber lifted her gaze again when heard a shouting Ikuze who was shouting from the window. Oh yes, the little girl thought, it was the period.
Meanwhile the other children are just moving as a happy, chipper little cloud surrounding Ikuze while she's leading their way. Icecream, sweet icecream, wait for them~

He raised an eyebrow when Edel mentioned that Ikuze wasn’t one of her workers. That was a relief in its own way. “I would like to kindly request that she does NOT come with on any excursion that involves MI.” If she did, well, it might be the last trip.
Looking down at the little girl then, he was surprised to hear that she had a valid theory. Kids are always great conversation, this further proves that. “Whatever her reason is, I didn’t like how she was mean to me. Periods are no excuse for not acting civil.” There was a day when his mom had caught a girl acting rather rude to one of the customers. The girl blamed her period and his mom said those very words to her. For some reason they stuck in his mind.
Lasair visibly cringed when Ikuze shouted at him from the window. Wasn’t leaving the building far enough for that woman. He sighed, mumbling just loud enough for the company to hear. “In a way I’m glad she didn’t know why I was there. It let me see what kind of person she really is. Now I know what to expect beneath the surface.”
Eventually the group reached the ice-cream shop and the blue haired girl looked at the throng of children. "Alrighty! Raise your hands if you want vanilla." she asked, some of them raising their hands. "Who wants chocolate? Strawberry? Mint?" she asked, the children raising their hands appropriately. The thief turned her attention to the clerk. "You heard the children." Ikuze shrugged towards the man in charge of the store. Took a few minutes to doll out all the treats, and then Ikuze paid with the money she'd earned from the gigs.
"Hmm... aaaand can I get one of each flavour?" she asked, getting one of those box things to carry the cones. "Better try to make it up to the others... no clue what flavour they like so meh." she said, beginning the process of escorting the kids back to the dorms. Hopefully this would at least try to make things a little less awkward for whoever Lasair worked for, Edelweiss' CAESEL's and Caitlin's Rogues... or he could be a prick and take it the entirely wrong way again like he did with the magic earlier. At least Ikuze could say she tried to make amends.
