Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to Edelweiss Fjäril It had been a while since Lasair passed through the Central Square. He rather missed seeing the big houses and all the upper class people he passed always made him smile. They looked so stuck up and proper, over all it was just amusing to see how they reacted when someone like him, good looking but not dressed as a noble, passed through.
However, someone caught his eye. They had long red hair and seemed to be dancing between whether they were a boy of a girl. And they had a box of donuts in their hand, which happened to be nearly empty. Whoever this person was, they seemed quite interesting and, having nothing better to do except stare at the locals, Lasair thought it’d be worth his time meeting them.
He casually walked up to the redhead and smiled at them. “It’s a lovely day to be enjoying some sweets, wouldn’t you agree? Although it seems to me like you could use a refill on those.”

Edelweiss looked down into the bag as if was checking how many doughnuts were still inside, before turning her face to look at Lasair. "Indeed, I probably will when it's really empty." Sorry, redhead buddy, the voice won't help you guess if she's a woman or a man. Unless you manage to make her sing, it was rather ungendered too while not filled with higher pitched musical notes.
"Want one?" She offered the bag; Lasair could take a doughnut if he wanted to; that bag had came with one of those prized cupon for a free new one, so a single doughnut wouldn't be as missed as usually. One thing to be sure though, Edelweiss had never caught sight of that lad before. She tended to remember almost everyone who lived at Central Square, for reasons too varied to recall (most of them being related to work in some degree). Kind of amusing. She gave him a small yet friendly smile. "I don't thing I ever saw you around though. I'm Edel. Your name...?"

So the voice didn’t identify the gender of this person. Well, in that case Lasair would tentatively refer to them as a male, as that was most common. And if he turned out to be a she, well, chances are she was going for the male look anyway. It was the best way to minimize offending this person.
Before accepting one of the fleeting donuts, Lasair took a bow and smiled up at him. “Lasair Landevier Lupen, at your service.” He picked up one of the donuts before continuing. “I don’t live around her, but I do enjoy passing through. Is your home among these streets?” He took a bite of the sugary treat after he asked his question, not wanting to be rude and speak with his mouth full.

"Well... kind of. My family's home is around here, but my personal home has not been at the Square it's been long already." That was all public info anyway, so she saw no problem with mentioning that much about herself. No secrets shared up to now. Lasair had given her his full name in exchange for a mere nick though, so she figured she could complete her own for him as well. "...Fjäril. Edelweiss Fjäril, actually. But I have no middle names."
But... She knew that look on his face, oh so very well, as she had received it from countless people already. And it made her laugh a little. "You're still trying to guess whether I'm a lad or lass, aren't you?"

He nodded, munching his doughnut as the redhead spoke, and then swallowed after hearing their name. “Edelweiss is a lovely name,” he commented, not having heard the name before. Their last name of Fjäril sounded even more uncommon. And then a sly grin came to his face as their questions met his ears. They were used to this kind of thing it seemed. “Perhaps I am, you do pull of the hiding between the two well. But no matter which you are, it doesn’t change the fact that I’d like to buy you your next batch of donuts.”

"Oh? The courtesy is much appreciated, thank you." Edelweiss nodded. And then she could have another bag for free and keep that coupon for a later time when she's hungry again.
"And to clear your doubt: the answer is 'lass'." And that amused grin is still on her face. Perhaps there'll be a day when all men in Lodan will suddenly find themselves stuck in corsetted dresses, and they'll finally understand the reason to not question why she prefers wearing pants.

“Well, young charming lady, would you like to head to the source of those donuts now or later? I wouldn’t want to interrupt you if you were in the middle of anything.” He continued to smile at her, already enjoying her company. It was nice of her to reveal the fact that she was a lady, but all that meant to Lasair was that he would focus his compliments on her looks as opposed to her actions. There was a system to all his flirting, after all.

"Well, all I was doing was eating, aaand..." There are obviously no more doughnuts, so at the moment she's not doing anything anymore. She shrugged, figuring the question had been answered even if not verbally complated, and started walking towards the nearest bakery.
Sadly enough Lasair's complimenting system would fall on dead ears when the matter was Edelweiss - at least when the matter was her looks. Following that logic he would probably have been more productive with his flirting if kept thinking she was a guy. Being called 'fast', 'neat' or even 'silent walking' worked better as flattery on her than being called 'pretty'.
"If I may ask, what had yourself been doing before we met, my fiery-haired new acquaintance?"

“More donuts it is,” he said with a smile, falling in step with her as she walked. “Me? I was out on a walk. Enjoying the nice weather, getting odd looks from the nobles in these parts, that sort of thing. Well, until I noticed you at least. It’s not everyday you see another redhead, let alone one who confuses those they meet without saying a word.” He wasn’t sure if that would be taken as a compliment of not, but he hoped it was. Being able to masquerade as something you’re not is a great skill indeed. He'd certainly never be able to pull it off.

"Alright, fair enough." She laughed. Now that compliment was appreciated too, very much, disguises were one of the basic things that could define if someone lived or died in her line of work. Being good at staying alive was very nice of a compliment in her opinion.
They'd have a few minutes before reaching the bakery though, so she guessed they might as well keep chatting on the way. "From your description... Do I take it you enjoyed the odd looks from the nobles?"

She had a very nice laugh; it was pleasant to hear someone laugh in his company, it had been so long since that happened. “When they choose to avoid talking to me, yes. Don’t get me wrong; nobles can be good company, but only when they want to be. Any other time and they’re not worth the effort.” He chuckled, realizing that his entertainment sounded rather silly when said out loud.

"That depends on the noble, I guess. I know one who acts like a cat. He's amusing even when angry." She shook her head. And besides that there was also Cait, who was pretty friendly and not snob in the least as well as having the title of Queen of Rogues and liderating a ton of pirates. And lets not forget Ikuze, who had blue hair and was... well, Ikuze. "I think that applies to people of all social standings.... except the cat part."
"Well, here we are." At the bakery, for more sweet sweet doughnuts.

“I guess I just haven’t met many nobles to make that connection,” he said thoughtfully. He stepped forward to open the door for Edelweiss before following her inside. “What kind of doughnut is your favorite?” He began looking through all the different sweets they had on display, trying to decide on what kind he’d like to have tonight. Perhaps a tart or other pastry. Anything that was sweet really.

"You should. Some are indeed snotty jerks like most people expect, but there are plenty of amusing pearls amid the mud to befriend. I can attest to that." Edelweiss stated with a smile before looking at the display of pastries at the showcase and counter.
"The strawberry jam-filled ones are a personal favorite of mine. But the simple sugar-glazed ones are also really tasty, and the orange cake they have here is rather famous too."
The redhead had been coming to that bakery since she was fourteen, and even got to the point of working at there as a delivery kid for half an year back then. The prices might be a tad expensive, but all the goods were delicious enough to compensate for it. Speaking franky, she plainly loved that bakery. If anyone was allowed to marry a building, she would marry it. Unfortunately for her, it wasn't allowed. So she just continued to occasionally buy things there whenever it was affordable.

“Perhaps you could introduce me to one of these pearls?” he inquired, already finding the idea of meeting a noble who wasn’t a snob quite entertaining. And the idea of a cat man was also sticking in his mind; he’d like to meet that fellow.
And then his attention turned towards the sweets. Orange cake that was famous? He was sold. No need to inspect any of the other treats. Anything that was famous was worth tasting. “Have you decided what you want?” he added to his previous line, already liking the sweet tooth in this girl.
