Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

A handful of emotions flitted across Stephen's face when he laid eyes on Edel: First, he smiled, utterly pleased to see her. Then, he frowned, giving her the once over and was about to comment about her choice of attire but paused. She looked... haggard, pained, and not like her normal cheerful self. A look of worry and nervousness finally settled on his face. "What happened Edelweiss. You look... terrible," he climbed up the first step then offered her his hand to help her down the stairs. Glancing behind her he spotted Amon's two clockwork dolls then frowned even deeper. What was he doing here? Drat it all, if Amon had found Edel before he, that would be a bit of an annoyance.
(well, cant brake stealth without bullets flying or a tone of trouble so, Stealth is Key!)
as soon as Eryn heard that Strange Voice Near that sounded metal something inside her Just Panicked as it Sounded Like the Monster as the a smell she could smell of off heavy deep oil was close, so with that as the steps started to walk away She got out of her hiding place, scurried back to the window , opened it . got outside , closed the window and on to the roof and started to run to a safe place , she could not face a monster yet , she could not, even after what she had done, a monster was a monster and there was only a few she know of above in lodan.
(Eryn does not like Robots since they are almost the same like the monster that drove her above to lodan, Abby and Abe are robots (sound and smell) 2+2 = monster )
(so yeah , this maybe one of them moments when it maybe later on or in a different thread)

Elaine rolled her eyes at Stephen's comment about the cat and followed him in. She gave the girl an apologetic look. They were downright intruding. She followed with the kitten still petting her. "Well girl, looks like we're in for a surprise. Mainly me, you already know who lives here." Elaine set the cat down and continued after her guildmate. Listening to him call out she looked around taking in the room.
She looked up sharply as she saw Edelweiss descending the stairs. She winced at her condition a bit. 'She looks like she's been in a bit of a situation.....that's an understatement.' Elaine thought looking her over. Then she noticed the two children behind her. Wait those weren't children, they were dolls. Actual clockwork dolls. Elaine had the feeling she had seen them somewhere before but she couldn't quite pinpoint where. She pulled her gaze from them and back to Edelweiss.

Well thank you, Stephen, it's always a joy to a lady being told she looks terrible. He did have a point though, Edelweiss wasn't nearly in her best shape right then, actually she was as far from it as she could be. So she just gave a half eye-roll and chuckled weakly.
"Job 'complications'." She answered simply and took his hand to finish going down the stairs; there was no reason to refuse his help, and it was appreciated - the doughnuts as well.
"Nutcracker betrayed us." She added once her second-in-command was close enough, and she was far enough from the twin dolls and Amon that they'd not hear her whispering. Elaine might, if she approaches at the right timing, but that would be alright. She would now what the talk was about anyway. "Reaping mission... That's what I hate the most that happens on the work." Erasing ax-crazed killers and other wicked personalities from the streets were one thing, but it turned out a lot harder to get rid of an experienced, well-trained assassin. "Well, at least there wasn't another innerly crumbling clock tower berfore it was finished this time, just my stomach."
Still on Elaine's arms, Stephannie made a noise in-between mewling and hissing at the window, and Pearl turned her face to look where the cat indicated. The pale figure of a young girl was just sneaking out of sight. "China found us too." She would probably be gone before they catch up to the entrance, no need to follow her. Edelweiss couldn't help but be amused at the idea that Eryn had been the one making that haunted noise from before; the girl was getting better.
Amon was just about to follow Edel when he heard sounds coming from the roof, followed by a feeling something magical rushing by. "What the...?" he asked, doing his best to follow the sound.
"It appears our intruder left," replied Abe.
Amon sighed, a little peeved that he loaded his arm-gun for nothing, before realizing that Abby was gazing down the stairs.
[What's up?] he clicked.
[It appears Stephen and another Ander is with Edel] she replied. [They are currently conversing about something.]
[Did you listen to what they were saying?]
[Not too much. A little too far and too quiet for my audio sensors to pick up. Though something about a betrayer?]
"Another one?" Amon thought, thinking back to how a serial killer joined up with BoR and attempted to kill Cait.
With a sigh, he dismantled the matchlock system and carefully removed the gun from his arm. "Whatever, none of my business," he said making his way downstairs.
"Hey Edel, I think the intruder left. Gonna have to unload this thing safely though," he said, motioning to the modified and disarmed pistol. "So in the meantime, please get some rest."
"Oh, hey Stephen," he said, nodding to the kid. And there was someone with him...oddly familiar, but he couldn't quite place it...

Elaine inclined her head at her guild leader respectfully. She really had nothing to say. And she didn't feel like getting in on their little conversation either. Although she managed to catch a few words as she stepped closer. A betrayal? Her green eyes flicked upwards as a man came into view at the top of the stairs. At the sound of his voice her memory kicked back into gear. 'You've got to be kidding me.' She thought bitterly. That man... He was the one who had stumbled in on her initiate assignment and cut her mission short. Coming around the corner after that little girl bumped into her. She wasn't able to dispose of the body properly and he just so happened to be the head of the Merchants District. Curse it all! 'If he recognizes me I'm royally screwed.' The girl almost let out a noise of extreme agitation. But managed to keep it under wraps. Instead she decided to play it off as best she could. Ignorance was key. Hopefully those dolls of his didn't keep tabs on people they met. Instead she looked back to Stephen and Edel.

As Edel gave an explanation for her condition, he face darkened. So Nutcracker had betrayed them. He had not know Nutcracker very well but to be honest he never like him. "I see. That is unfortunate news. Is there anything I can do to assist you at work?" It at least explained her long disappearance and damaged state. To be safe he would double check everyone in the guild when he got back. It was doubtful but if Nutcracker had any contacts he wanted to be sure they were taken care of. As expected, Amon appeared at the top of the steps. "Hello Amon. Fancy seeing you here," he said, not so subtly glancing between him and Edel with a suspicious eye. "Care for a donut?" He offered to box to Amon before Edel could snatch them away and scarf them all down. Giving Elaine a side long glance, he noticed that her appearance changed when she saw Amon and his dolls. Interesting. Wonder what happened between them. It would probably be best to ask about it later, given by the fact that Elaine was hiding her reaction now.

"That would mean heading to the couch, I guess..." Edelweiss pondered at Amon's request that she rests some. She had just going downstairs, imediately going back up now would be more troublesome than not, so heading to the couch at the entrance room and sitting there sounded like a better option. "You can unload it in the office, and we'll stay here downstairs meanwhile that. That's the safer I can offer."
The redhead's gaze leaned on Elaine for a moment as the younger lass pulled out that unnerved expression and demeanor just to hide it a moment later. Hmmm must be about that report Pearl and the others had given her some time ago; that would need to be adressed still. Along with Stephen's offer of assistance.
"Now, I guess," She started and took the chance to (no shame at all, it had been brought for her and she claimed it already) stick her hand in the box and take a couple doughnuts from it while Stephen reached it out to Amon. Then turned back to look between Stephen and Elaine. "I have some things to discuss with the two of you. May we all take a more comfortable seat and talk?"
"That was weird..." Amon thought, seeing the brief moment of distress in the girl's face. "...It couldn't be...whatever...I'll let Edel deal with it..."
"No thanks, Edel can have my share," Amon replied. "Well, I guess I'll let you guys have your secret talk. Just try not to stress her out too much...already did enough as it is. Also, Edel, you are at least attempting to sleep before I leave...even if I have to carry you back up here and tie you down so that you don't toss like a barrel on a rocky boat," he continued as he ascended the stairs.
[Want us to listen in?] clicked Abby.
[If you can manage it from here without being seen. Otherwise, don't bother.] Amon replied. "I have a funny feeling what it's about anyways..." he thought.
[Back to guarding I guess.] clicked Abe.
"Aw, c'mon, I thought you liked doing nothing," said Amon as he sat down at the office desk and begun the tedious process of unloading the pistol.

"It's not exactly secret, but I think it would bore you to hear." The redhead chuckled. It was a talk about the shady side of CAEsAL, alright, but what she was intending to say could easily be enciphered into sounding pretty inoffensive to unsuspecting ears. Athough Amon's face indicated he had (or at least seems to have) slightly suspecting ears by now, which was yet another reason why Edelweiss was going to have a talk with those other non-metallic two.
She left Amon to his unloading and clicking-with-dolls business and turned to Stephen and Elaine once again. "Shall we?" She motioned a hand towards the living room's couch and directed them there.

Stephen nodded, giving up on trying to keep the donuts from Edel and just handed her the box. Turning, he followed where she was pointing not before giving one last look at the clockwork dolls and where their owner had just been. Amon looked like he suspected something was up. He would have to chat with Edel about that, to make sure.

Elaine watched the man disappear back up the stairs. Then Edel mentioned she had something to discuss with them. This caught the girls attention and she turned to follow Edelweiss and Stephen. Her mind began to wander about the subject of what the guild leader could possibly have to say to her. She would find out soon enough.

"Alright, it's pretty fortunate you two are both here, so I'll start with the main topic first and be direct..." Edelweiss told once the 3 of the were sitting as comfortably as affordable - the redhead, her only slightly late second-in-command, and Elaine. "Elaine, you broke Rule 1." And that was not a question, it was a statement.
"We have 3 rules, it's not a really large number, and you broke the first of them." She said while distractedly tapping the fingertips of a hand on the fingertips of the other hand. Her usual relaxed smile was being accompanied by a piercing sharp gaze at the moment, nevermind any injuries the CAEsAL Leader currently had. "I might not have been personally present at the scene, but that's what our informants work for, and they're good at what they do. You are 16, older than myself was when I first started the job, and certainly not a child anymore. The sole things you have in your favor is Amon was already aware of our existence beforehand, and your judgement of not breaking the third rule to maintain the first." As Stephen had also done on his own trial, long ago. To speak frankly, had the eyepatched lad killed a small innocent child who probably wouldn't even be able to recognize his face in broad daylight, nevermind how fond Edelweiss currently is of the lad, he would have failed. Good thing he didn't.
"I also hope you understand what this means. Rule breaking in CAEsAL does not stay unpunished." The redhead turned to look at Elaine in the eyes. "An informant will accompany you from now on as you work (and daily), for undetermined time, until you acquire more practice. Whenever they retire from your company to report, another will temporarily fill in the watch duty. No complains will be accepted. Am I clear?" You are grounded, young lady.

Elaine tested the mettle of her nerves by trying her best to keep the woman's gaze. And you better believe it was hard. Her eyes flickered to her clasped hands in her lap a few times. She fought the urge to cringe down into her seat and disappear. 'You couldn't just run off?! You had to help the kid!' And then it only made her feel worse when Edel said she had been younger on her first assignment and it hadn't ended in almost total failure. She nodded ever so slightly at the guild leader. This was like being a candle in a hurricane. "Yes ma'am." Elaine's voice was slightly higher pitched than she would have liked. She had tried, just not hard enough. The girl sat there hoping her end of the bargain was finished so she could inwardly kick herself for the remainder of the day. She was determined to do better.

"Good." Indded good, non-sarcastic good. Seemed like Elaine understood her predicament well enough. Edelweiss stood up from the cushioned seat to stand right in from of Elaine and her gaze softened back into a more relieved than angry expression, a hand reaching out to rest on top of the green-eyed assassin's head. "Hide your face while 'on duty' (your googles or a scarf besides the hood will do), don't let the EIRALs spot you - don't let anyone spot you, but mainly them. If spotted just leave the scene as quick as affordable, and above all, stay safe. It'll get better with time."
