Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Open to Mad Rook Madiggan and who ever might be near the ports. The piece of driftwood Basil had stuck to the string to use as a bob lapped softly with the waves' movement. Nothing. Maybe maggots weren't the best bait? They were never in short supply at the hovel, so he thought that they would work splendidly to try and catch fish, but it seemed as if they did not seem inciting to the creatures underwater. Either that, he thought, or the rapid industrialization tainted the very ground below their feet and the waters on which they relied. .... Or maybe he just sucked at fishing. The idea hadn't even crossed his mind before this morning, although he adored fish more than almost anything. He figured that it must have been his feline heritage. Regardless, he sat on the edge of the pier, a sort of out of the way cranny, where he fished using a tool of his own design - a stick with a string tied at the end. Disposed fishing hooks were not difficult to find either, so it was easy. Like that, he waited, not a bite... But he hoped that food would arrive eventually. He hadn't eaten in a day or so, as it was.

Rook was still running when he made it to the docks. Well, she did mention she was seeing someone, but one doesn't simply pass up a girl like that. Not even when her big scary blacksmith of a boyfriend walks in just after one finishes. That being the case though, there was nothing to stop a man from running for his life when said boyfriend tries to break one's head in with a hammer.
Rook grinned at the memory of his latest conquest and touseled his own hair.Oops! He quickly grabbed the waist of his pants and pulled them back up before tying his belt around. He'd left his shirt and shoes behind... but he could alwaaa- CRACK! Rook tripped over something. More specifically, someone. Who...?
Rook glared at the cause of his misfortune and barked out angrily. "What do you think you're doing sitting in people's way, Squirt?
Basil yelped as someone lodged their foot into his side, gripping his fishing rod for dear life. After recovering from that moment of pain, he turned towards the man who had tripped over him, fiery red hair and a lack of a shirt seeming to be this person's style. "Oh, you know, scrounging in the dirt for food, trying not to starve, the usual day to day activities." Basil replied, mustering the most friendly voice he could, a slight passive aggressive tone slipping into his words, "...Nice pants."

Rook clambered to his feet and flashed a dangerous skin at the runt. "Careful, love. They're midget-skin." Rook flicked his eyebrows up real quick before settling them in place once more. Rook leaned over and looked at the little bugger's fishing line. "Well, you are going to starve you keep going like this, Squirt. You are not even fishing in the right area. Too much traffic around the docks. Gotta head further up the coast to get a decent bite of anything." Rook snuffed his finger over his nose and grinned. "I bet you and me could get something pretty big to bite. I will tie you to a bit of string and dunk you in the water. You squirm around a bit, and pop! I have dinner."
"When I said I wanted to not-starve, it pretty much meant, I want to not-die, so I'm going to have to turn you down on that offer." Basil said, as he turned around to face the jerk, pulling in his line. "Who knows, maybe I could just eat you instead." Basil said, barring his fangs within a grin."Does that work for you?"

Rook's smile spread even wider, and he reached a hand into one of his pants pockets. "I do not know. I think a disgusting beast like you would get indigestion, but I would probably be the only wholesome thing you managed to fit down your disgusting gullet your entire life, so it might be worth a try." Inside his pocket, Rook toyed with one of his smaller, almost firecracker like, explosives. He kept them in his pockets just in case he didn't have anything else to use.
"Eh. Nevermind. I don't eat rotten meat... Plus it looks like there's more fat on you than I'd like... And you smell like dollymop's perfume. I'll go back to catching my fish." Basil said, and cast is line out to sea once again, then slunk back into a sitting position. Basil restrained the urge to get up and push this guy into the sea below.

Today was the first day that Lorraine had truly emerged from her hiding hole in one of the ships. She could no longer stand to be dressed in rags far too big for her and so went with the process of making herself something over the weeks. If there was one thing she hated but now had to thank her mother for nagging her to do, it was sewing. The material she had was lacking and so she could only do so much with it. As a result, she wore pants, a corset, a billowy sleeved shirt that exposed her shoulders some revealing the recon tattoo that marred her skin on her left shoulder, and boots. Her hair had become a tangled mess though not horrendously so as she was still able to style it but she wore a bandanna nonetheless. At her hips and a bit behind her, her twin swords dangled. All in all, she hated the way she looked, but it would do.
As she strode down the peer, she watched the commotion of one man tripping over a boy and then settled to simply observe their conversation. Men... were interesting. In a way, they reminded her of her brothers and that drew forth a smile from her. Lorri stepped over, the clicking of her boots undoubtedly giving her away as she approached. "Good day, gentlemen."

Rook leaned down over the runt and chuckled. "To go back to catching fish you have to actually, you know, be able to catch a fish. What you are doing is just sitting there waiting to starve." He was about to keep going when the clicking of boots drew his attention.
Rook looked up to see a lady he hadn't noticed in the docks before quickly approaching. He straightened up and shoved his hands into his pockets, all but forgetting about the runt he'd been tormenting a mere moment ago. Rook spoke to the woman. "Need something?" He ruffled his hair again and let out a lazy yawn.
"If I'm going to starve, I'd prefer to starve in peace, thank you. Except you kicked me in the side and sort of ruined any chance of that." A woman approached, one he had not met, and it seemed as if his bully's attention went to her. For that, he was grateful. "Hello miss!" He called.

"Hello, and no, not truly. I was simply watching you two and thought to check on the lad you tripped over," she replied to the red head as she studied him though her brows were raised in amusement rather than furrowed with agitation. She offered both men a smile then folded her arms beneath her chest as folding them over would have looked awkward. Glancing down to Basil she asked, "are you alright?"

Rook blew raspberries at the both of them. He glanced down at the runt and scoffed. "Do you not have any sense of pride or shame? Asking people for food the second you see them." He shook his head and looked at Lorraine, then back at the runt. "Come, both of you." He turned his eyes on the runt one last time before he started walking off. "There will be food."

Lorraine blinked several times as her brows rose up. Where on earth would she be able to keep food on her person she wondered as she looked down at herself. There was certainly no room in her pants and perhaps she could hide something in her bosom but most definitely not food! "Uh, no," she answered honestly then quirked a brow as she turned an eye on Rook. "Oh, no, no. You do not have to trouble yourself with feeding me." Despite her words, she followed anyway.
"I have as much shame as I have money... So you can see where that goes." Basil stood, but did not follow. "I mean, you sort of just insulted my entire being but... Food. Food is important." And with that, he darted after.
