Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Stepping forward, Lasair began to pat down the stranger thoroughly, but not roughly, checking for any sort of weapon. “Flattery will get you nowhere, but the notion is appreciated,” he said as he looked, confirming his earlier guess to the newcomer being male.
No weapons were found, so he stepped back, a devilish grin on his face. “Tell me your name and why you’re here.” He crossed his arms and leaned back against the tree behind him, mimicking the posture he had seen the man with upon arrival.
Jayce laughs softly as his body is patted down by the other man, "Careful with what you do with those hands, I barely know you." He smiles and turns around as the man rests against the bark wood. "Ah, so you steal my style and my stance? Tsk, I knew my father's name was big, but I didn't know I was aswell." He crosses his arms and places one foot infront of the other. "I've come looking for, hmm, knowledge? I suppose is what you want to hear?"

He pushed himself off the tree, smile fading into a frown, paused, then continued to a scowl.
“You are here. Not your father. Answer honestly and thoroughly.” Lasair closed the gap between him and boy in one step, standing nearly as tall and looking intently at him through the mask. “I don’t like repeating myself, so don’t make me do so again. What is your name. Why are you here.” His tone had shifted considerably from the light-hearted teasing of before to something serious, scary even. There wouldn’t be a single shred of doubt that he meant business now. And business meant stop joking around.

"I still don't understand why we have to go all the way out here." Leo said as he stuck his hands in his pockets and looked around at all the trees, the two of them were just about in the middle of the forest where they were told to meet, just a little bit away from the place.
"That's where they want us to meet. It's their decision after all." Emelo said as he too looked around, swiping his hair to the left some, trying to clean it up some.
The two boys had heard something about a magical guild, and did all they could to find out more, in the end they were only able to find out about this meeting place. The twins thought it wouldn't be that bad of an idea if the two at least went and checked it out.
"Ya but still..." Leo said as he took his hands out of his pockets and crossed them behind his head, "Why couldn't they be a little closer to the city. It would be easier for everyone."
"Come on now, maybe they have to do this for a safety reason." Emelo said, understanding why his brother thought this way, but having a feeling that there was a whole other reason.
"I just hope this thing goes fast... I don't want to be waiting around for hours." Leo sighed, closing his eyes as he stopped and leaned up against a tree. Though the two weren't there quite yet he figured this was good enough, at least for now.
"Ya. Me too." Emelo said as he stopped and stood next to his brother but on the opposite side of the tree.
At the same the two both put their hands in their pockets, Leo lowering his into them, Emelo raising them up into them. The twins looked symmetrical with the way they stood there against the tree, that is if it weren't for the one lower tree branch that favored the left side over the right.

(Skipping to the twins since Jayce hasn’t replied)
There was talking. That wasn’t good. Lasair frowned from behind his mask, walking towards the sounds leisurely. He has been specific when he dropped hints of the guild. Into the woods, unarmed, and alone. But there were two people there, identical ones at that, and they were leaning on a tree together. He stood in the shadows, merely watching them, for quite some time, before sighing and approaching the pair.
“Off the tree. You, twenty paces that way. You, twenty paces the other way.” His voice was stern as he directed the twins to part, one heading in each direction. If they didn’t comply, that would be another mark against the duo. Too many and they wouldn’t be allowed to join.

The two turned in the direction of the voice, looking for the source of it. Though it was dark the twins could just make out a human like figure in the background, no distinct features other than the fact that the person had a pit of height to them. Stepping away from the tree a bit the two looked to one another then back in the direction of the figure.
Leo didn't like the fact that this guy just showed up and began giving orders left and right. Taking a step forward Leo began to open his mouth, ready to call the man out, only to be greeted with a hand over his mouth.
"Leo don't you dare!" Emelo said in a stern yet quiet voice as he shoved his hand over his brothers mouth. He knew Leo would be made about what this guy just did but if the man was who Emelo thought he was then calling the guy out wouldn't turn out well for either of them. "Just do what he says. It will be easier for everyone..." Emelo said as he removed he hand and looked at his brother.
Leo sighed as he shoved his hands in his pockets and looked of to the right in the direction the man just said, "Fine..." He said as he looked back to his brother for a moment before turning back around.
Emelo smiled as he too looked of in the direction the man said, but obviously in the opposite direction.
The two stood back to back for a moment before stepping in the directions the were told. "One... Two... Three..." The two said as they took steps in sync with one another until they both were twenty paces away from the tree they were at. They then turned back in the direction the man was, just standing there staring, not saying a word, and just waiting for something to happen.

One spoke up, calling the other Leo. The man in the fox mask watched their exchange with a stone face, gathering information from the encounter. The one who wasn’t Leo seemed to be the more level headed one of the duo, meaning it would be best to start with him.
Keeping his eyes on the pair as they walked off, he turned towards Leo and called. “Stay there. Don’t move,” before turning to approach the other twin. Once he was only a few steps away from this twin he spoke up, keeping his voice quiet so that the other could not hear. “Who are you. Why are you here. Why are you here together.” There wasn’t the slightest hint of curiosity or question in his voice. They were commands, demands even.
(Leo will have to wait until it’s his turn. Don’t feel pressured to try and post for him during the exchange. And by extension, the same will go for Emelo when it's Leo's turn.)

Leo huffed as the man sent out another order to him, "Fine..." He said as he looked are the grounds some, kicking the dirt at his feet, hoping that would be something to keep his mind off this guy. Though he did keep an eye out as the man approached his brother, just because they wanted to get into this place didn't mean Leo won't protect his brother if something were to happen.
Emelo watched as he brother began to kick at the dirt before turning his attention back to the man walking towards him. As the man got closer Emelo saw the man wearing a fox mask... This must have been a big deal if they needed to keep their faces covered. Just as Emelo was about to introduce himself to the man he began to talk with next to no emotion in his voice. This guy was really serious. "I'm Emelo and that's-" Emelo stopped himself before saying his brothers name, the man asked just for his... All he needed to do was answer the questions himself. "I'm Emelo Halvorsen. I'm here because we heard about a magic guild and wanted to find out how to get into it. And we are together because we're brothers. I don't leave his side and he doesn't leave mine, We're uhh... We're always together." Emelo said as he stood there, making sure to stand up straight and presentable, he just hoped that when it was his brothers turn to do this he would do the same.

This twin, the ‘Emelo’ knew what was going on. Good. However when he stumbled on his words, it said to the recruiter that he had a tendency to guard his brother. Act as the older one, so to say. Something else to keep in mind. “The Magic Guild? Is that what they’re calling it now?” he asked more to himself than the other as he stepped forward, lifting the boy’s arms to pat him down quickly. No weapons, as expected. Taking a step back then, he began to pace around Emelo, cobalt eyes glued to him from begin the gold tints of the fox mask.
“Why do you think you’re worthy to join this ‘magic guild’? I’m asking you, and you alone. Can you even work alone? It’s obvious you have a partner but what if that partner isn’t around. What then? Will you still be of use to this mythical guild?” His words came slowly as his paces continued, the sounds of each letter hissing on his breath as they were nearly whispered. In his mind he began to ready his magic, in case he felt the need to test this boy further.

The boy went stiff as the man began to pat him down, Emelo hated it when other people touched him, he was ok if it was on the head or shoulder but anywhere else was a no... That just doesn't happen. Emelo lightened up some as the man took a step back and stopped patting him down. Emelo waited to reply until the man was done speaking. What could 'he' bring to this guild? What could he bring.... He really wanted to join just because of the books and knowledge this place had and he never really gave any thought as to what he could give back to it... He couldn't fight like his brother, he was never good at sports like him either... He could never use his magic as well as his brother, and his feline eye sight was poor compared to that as well... Compared to his brother Emelo couldn't do anything... But the second part of the mans question made Emelo chuckle some, he didn't mean to and immediately after took his hands straight to his mouth, as thought he was trying to take back what he had just said. "Sorry, I just... I have to be honest here." Emelo began as he slowly lowered his arms, forgetting about how the man was pacing around him, judging his every move. "I just can't imagine being without him... We've been together since birth and have never left each other's sides since... Besides we need each other. Though I can't offer anything physical like he can, I'm better in the mental and learning field than he is. What I can offer would be the ability to learn quickly, and organize and control anything out of place or unruly." Emelo said matter-o-factly as he looked up to the masked man with a gentle smile, "And I'm sorry to say this but we're an all or nothing type of thing here. If he were gone than I would be too." Emelo added, truth ringing in every word. What he just said may have just ruined both their chances at getting in but if that was to be the case then so be it. They would both be out together then.
Leo continued to kick at the dirt watching the mans every move. He didn't like being this far away from his brother, if something were to happen he wouldn't be able to get there in time... Just then the man made a move towards his brother and Leo was ready to charge but just as he was about to the man backed up and began pacing around him. What was this guy doing? Leo was able to figure out that the man just pat his brother down but the pacing left him baffled.

The fox mask chuckled dryly, the notes ringing out into the quiet night. “I see how it is. This is why I came to you first,” he began, stopping in his tracks. He stood between the two twins, blocking the view from one to the other. “You are the brain, the outline, the instructor. Your brother is the brawn, the filling, the doer. Together you make a complete package. The only limitation is the fact that there are two of you and not one.”
Lifting his hand into the air, he spun it at the wrist slowly, the faintest hints of magic forming in his palm. Should he test this brother with magic? No, it would be best to test the other one, the one who would have the harder time dealing with it. “You’ve passed the questioning, however that does not mean you are accepted just yet. You will have a test, as will your brother. Once his questioning finishes, I’m going to cast a spell on him. Trust me when I say he will not be hurt by this spell. Your part of the test is to resist the urge to run to his aid. You have to stand back, hide behind a tree if you like, and stay there until I say it’s over. No matter what your brother calls.” His words came out hushed and in a whisper, the plan already in his mind.
“If you both pass this test, the interrogation will be over. Fail, and you’ll be left to wander these woods. Alone.”

Leo stood there with narrowed eyes as the man blocked the view of his brother and then did something with his hand. What was with this guy? First the pacing now the hand?! What ever was happening to his brother would soon be happening to him, the same thing if not somewhat different, either way though he wanted to know what was taking so long... He didn't like this separation...
Emelo stood there, staring at the man with somewhat wide eyes. He didn't know what to say or do, with what the man just said it left Emelo in somewhat of a shock. He didn't like hearing that he wanted to use magic on his brother but as long as it doesn't hurt him then that should be ok... But if it wasn't going to hurt then why what would he be saying to Emelo? Why would Leo be calling him? "Ok..." Emelo said quietly, not really wanting to say it at all, "But if I sense any kind of hurt to him at all the test is over by my choice, and we both walk away." Emelo said, realizing only after he said this that he had no authority or room to barter with this man, after all they were the ones who wanted in... "Just... Don't hurt him..." Emelo said under his breath some, just loud enough for the man to hear him, "I'll know..." He added even softer this time, if the man heard him then he had incredibly good ears.

“He will be unharmed; you have my word. Now if you please, wait here. You’ll know when the test begins.” His hand fell to his side, the magic fizzling out of it as he turned his back on Emelo. His strides over to Leo were quick and with purpose. When he arrived at the other brother, he stepped forward and patted him down, confirming that he was also unarmed.
“What’s your name. Why are you here. Why did you come together.” He repeated the questions in much the same tone, as if he had gathered no information from the previous conversation.

"Ok..." Emelo said as he watched the man turn and walk off towards his brother. He didn't like how this was the test they needed to pass to get in. One would think ignoring your sibling would be easy but for these two... Turning around some Emelo had his back to the man and his brother, even if it wasn't the time for the test yet he still didn't want to see...
Leo straightened up as the man made his way over to him. Well it seemed like he was done with Emelo now... As the man walked up Leo was ready to ask questions left and right but instead was greeted with a pat down and his own series of questions. As the man patted him down Leo froze up the same way his brother had, both of them hated it when they were touched, especially by people they didn't know. Once the man was done Leo was ready to sock the guy, not only did he do something to his brother but he didn't exactly like it that the first thing the guy did was pat him down, even if he didn't have any weapons that the guy was searching for did mean he couldn't us his claws. Balling his fist ups Leo was ready to pull back and punch, but before he did so his brothers voice popped into his head telling him to calm down. Digging his nails into the skin of his hands some Leo took a breath before releasing the tension in his hands, sighing some in the process.
"I'm Leo Halvorsen. I'm hear for the same reason he is, and as he probably told ya already we're brothers. That's why we're here together." Leo said as he looked down at his hands for a moment before shoving them into his pockets. They were bleeding a bit from how hard he had them balled up and how how deep his claws penetrated his skin. Leo then looked back up at the man with somewhat narrow eyes, he didn't like this guy...

“I’m asking you for your answers. Not your brothers. He’s not here right now. His answers aren’t here either. Why are YOU here. You in specific.” The fox man crossed his arms and tipped his head up slightly, making sure the younger man could see the frown on his face. This twin obviously didn’t understand. You don’t enter a guild in pairs. You entered alone. And that’s what Lasair was doing here. Emelo passed the first half of his part; now it was Leo’s turn.
As he waited for the other to answer, the recruiter shifted his weight from one foot to the other, glancing around the area once or twice before returning his eyes to the potential recruit. He noticed that the other boy had turned his back on the two of them. A wise choice. Neither of the boys would like this test of sorts. But they did need to be tested. After all, they had broken one of the rules by simply showing up together.
