Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to Clairee Donya It had been too long since he came back to the guild headquarters. Things were just, well, not busy. Lasair did his best to find and perform his own missions, making sure to discredit first and then absolutely ruin anyone who was making trouble with the entirety of Anderswelter kind. It was fun really, the most recent guy he toppled was still making headlines. But Lasair felt like there was something missing, like there was something more he should be doing for the guild. It was a very old society that didn’t let very many members in. Surely there had to be more to the membership than just knocking racist big shots off their high horses.
So here he was, wandering around the dusty headquarters, not really sure what he was expecting to find. Perhaps he’d run into Clairee, who seemed to know so much about the guild. She should be able to tell him what else he could do, right? He walked down another hall of the labyrinth-like building, glancing around for anyone he could find.
As it so happened, Clairee was at the HQ, Reading in the Library. After their last encounter here, she had learned their members had depressingly limited knowledge about themselves. In the book she was currently reading, the ledger of M.I. establishment, ranks and members, dating back to the summation of the civil war. There was a small chapter in the beginning predating the Icolentium's existence with a tiny blurb about the two original guilds "Andersweltler & Mages Guilds" that merged in the aftermath, but it was limited too. She sighed and put her forehead down on the pages. It was dry reading, but it was enlightening, to know who their forerunners were, who created their sanctum and why.

Hearing the faintest of sounds, a sigh, Lasair picked up his pace and walked towards it. To his delight, he found just the lady he was hoping to find. Clairee was hunched over, her nose quite literally in a book. Taking a few steps towards her he cleared his throat. “Doing some research? I came here hoping to learn a thing or two myself,” he said with his usual grin.
Clairee looked up, started by the timber of Lasair's voice as it echo'd in the domed space. It had been so quiet a moment ago. He was grinning. He had a nice smile, which she didn't realize before, probably because of his bright red hair stealing all the attention. "Oh, hi, fancy seeing you again." She smiled back. She was still a little uncomfortable with the fact that together - they had lost a potential recruit once - but was it really their fault? She ignored the discomfort and scooted over, making room for him at her desk. "Care to join me?"

“Don’t mind if I do.” Lasair closed the distance remaining between them and sat down at the desk. “What’cha reading?” he asked, looking down at the pages. From just skimming, he concluded it had to do with people who used to be very important to the guild. He wondered how far back it went, and when it was last updated.
She shifted when she felt him brush her arm, looking over the page. "Oh um, it's a chronology of our guilds history, dating back to the conclusion of the civil war. In here it say's before Jakobi Frost, there was a woman named Elowyss 'Ella' Cleireigh who founded the guild. She's the one responsible for gathering the Andersweltler's and the Mages together after the fallout and moving us here." She flipped to the page with a small photograph of a winged ander woman with two toned hair. In the columns next to it, read a small bio of her history. On the page opposite were the values she set for the M.I. and what the meaning behind the iconic MI Symbol stood for.
"The design itself has a saying behind it, it means "To purify and protect the night with intelligence and power." The fork symbol is a alchemy symbol, meaning to purify. The gems from left to right are: Citrine (meaning intelligence), Sapphire (meaning knowledge & power) and Aquamarine (meaning protection.) The M & I stands for Magicae Incolentium, which is Magic Dwellers in Latin."

Lasair’s eyes went wide as he read the pages. He had seen the guild’s symbol within the HQ, but he never knew its actual meaning. “Wow…” he said quietly. “So, we used to be two guilds that came together? And what ever happened to Elowyss after the war?” He couldn’t help but reread the explanation of their emblem. He wanted to memorize this page and with it, its value. He couldn’t believe he had joined the guild without knowing this history. It was very much worth knowing and should be taught to the incoming recruits.
"It's not specific," she murmured. Clairee flipped a few more pages, leading to Jakobi Frost 's page. "Here it just says she passed down her mantel to the second in command and in her 'absence' he led the guild. Under his leadership the recruitment numbers more than doubled, looking at the statistics in the margins." She dragged her finger along the numbers. "See here," She pointed. "All on the same day, it lists Benjamin Williams, Clairee Donya, Danny Ravensdale, Tyrell O'Callaghan and Lefiruc Storm."

“Five members at once? That sounds like quite the trial. I’ve seen you and Danny around but the other three names are new to me.” Lasair continued to study the book, reading all the pages had to offer. “Do most of the members, well, not spend time at the HQ? I can’t think of a reason why I haven’t met many others.” He scooted a bit closer to Clairee to get a better view of a book. Because simply moving the book towards him wasn’t his style. It was a lot for him to take in, and he was glad Clair was here to help him.
She felt a shiver dance up her spine, and she pretended not to notice. The last time she noticed things like that, the boy who made her feel them just stopped coming around.. that ended of that. Instead she focused on his question.
"Headquarters is a big..place. It's a mansion, or an institute more or less, and I still haven't seen every room in it... so it is hard to say if the members are around or not." Secretly she wished she'd been around more. Sneaking away from her fathers farm was a tricky task, especially with so many older brothers breathing down her neck all the time about where she's headed or who she's meeting. All these seasons coming and going, and Danny - Monster Cartographer extraordinaire had advanced himself to Jak's right hand man in the same space of time. She flipped another handful of pages to Danny's page. "It doesn't mention me again in the book anywhere, or the others except for mr. Storm, but he's at the very back of the book and the page is incomplete. Something about finding Lost pages... but here we see Danny advancing to 2nd in command, and here...." She traced her finger down the page again to the last paragraph, "Another mysterious 'absence' from the Guild leader, and next thing you know - Danny is promoted. It doesn't say anything about where Jak went, why, or for how long, just that Danny was given the reigns in his stead."
Despite the bitter tone of her voice, she had confidence in Danny as a leader. The boy was clever, brave, and capable from what she'd seen. She tilted her head toward Lasair to see what he made of all of this. "There's no author listed, by the way, in case you were wondering. I know I did."

“Okay, so we’re at our third guild leader right now. That’s not too bad; at least there’s always been someone there to take over when the leader disappeared. Since Danny is the current leader, does the book say who his second in command is?” Lasair reached up to trace some of the names listed on the pages. This book was defiantly alive. There were different types of ink used on different pages and the penmanship changed from time to time.
“As for the author, I have a feeling the guild members are the ones in charge of updating it. If you’d like, we could add some pages. I don’t know if my trial is in here, and the other members deserve some page time too, to show their achievements and how they’ve helped the guild.” He looked to Clairee and smiled an honest smile. He really wanted to do this, to help leave behind lessons for future Magicae Incolentium members to learn.
Clairee quickly took her hand off the page before Lasairs fingers brushed hers. They both turned their eyes back to the book as he examined the penmanship. "I think you're right, to an extent..." She grabbed the calligraphy pen at the top of the desk where it sat on top of a scrap of note paper, and she pulled it toward the book. "Except for one thing... I think that only certain utensils can mark it. Or maybe certain people." Without hesitating, she flicked the pen and watched as ink splattered out of it right over top of the book. The book itself though was spotless. "When I started taking notes earlier, my pen was dry, so I shook it up -- a little too much, and splattered it a bit. I thought maybe I had ruined the book, but it was spotless." She sat the pen back on her note paper. "I agree with you though, we should keep a record, and share with the others. Everyone should know this stuff." She looked back at him with an open expression. She really meant it, she felt like this was something worth investing in. It might be the first thing she'd ever done with the MI that she felt invested in.

“Magic book? I shouldn’t be so surprised by this. Let me try.” Reaching across Clairee, Lasair picked up the pen. He didn’t dare try the stunt she had, but he did reach down and make a small line on the margin of the page, as if to test the ink. If he couldn’t write in it either, they’d need to find someone who could. Or even start a new book.
"I'm not sure who the new 2nd in command is, but I bet its on the next page right after Danny's promotion." If they flipped the page, they would be surprised to see what name was written in as the second in command.
He reached over, took the pen, and pressed it against the page.
The book marked.
She gasped, then covered her mouth. "Queens! I'm so stupid, I could have ruined it?!" She thought outloud, seeing the ink go on the page when Lasair used it, and freaking out that she had just tried to splatter it.

“Whoa.” His eyebrows furrowed at seeing the tiny line appear on the page. So he could write on it, but the mark Clairee tried to make was nowhere to be seen. “Well, since I can write on it, the first thing I want to do is add some information. I haven’t seen my name in here at all, let alone Ratna or Lone’s. But first, let’s see who’s in charge if Danny disappears.” Setting the pen back down, he flipped the page, eager to learn the secrets it held.
