Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

"I am Iacomus Lerwick, but you can call me whatever you like. " He grinned at Keefe with that same malicious grin, shielded by a somewhat pleasant expression (as per usual.) With that, he pat Elaine on the shoulder as he continued. "And the wonderful woman you had been speaking to is Elaine Anncroft."

Smiling when her name was said Elaine gave a small salute. She was excited to hear the dim buzz of music, they were getting close. The Theater District played a song that to her felt like the heartbeat of the city. Sometimes when she was down at the inn she could hear the music deep into the night. It faded as the citizens woke up the next day and began their routines, but never truly ceased. "Well if you come from the Merchants District then you don't quite have as long of a walk as you think. You wandered to the Ports. I was raised in the Merchants District." Elaine thought of her parents stall down on the corner. "But listen." She gave a small pause. "The music of the Theater reaches all over the city. Artists and performers line the streets! Not to mention the Theater at the heart of it all. It's a great place." Iacomus surely knew his way around the city. If she missed any important details he would probably fill them in. Tucking her sketchbook safely into her satchel and tightened the strap around her shoulder. Her hands were tucked away in her mittens but were getting chilly. Elaine shoved them down in her coat pockets while they walked.

Keefe was in awe by all the lights and sounds and looks of all the different houses and people. This place was so large, it was no wonder he got lost. "I must say this place is truly beautiful, and I am very lucky to have run into you two. I would have been wondering around this place lost for days." Keefe said as he ran ahead like a 5 year old, looking at everything and listening to the music that was slowly getting louder. "I'm sooo very happy I left home and came here!" Suddenly his excitement faded, "It will be sad when I have to leave... But maybe when I find who I'm looking for I'll come back!" His excitement went right back up.

Elaine laughed as Keefe ran ahead. The party atmosphere was intoxicating. "Somehow I can believe that." She teased. "You have to try the food down at the Inn! It's the best thing you've ever tasted!" She watched a few performers out of the Theater streets amaze the passers-by. She stayed close to Keefe so she wouldn't lose him. His comment caught her off guard. "You left home to come here? And you have to go back..?" Elaine thought about this for a moment. "Where is your home if you don't mind me asking?" She wanted to press on who he was trying to find but she wasn't going to pry. She looked over at a booth with a woman selling flowers and other trinkets. The seller waved at Elaine and Elaine waved back.

Keefe stopped running back and forth when the young girl asked about where he came from. "Oh umm... I from a small town just outside of the city, about two hours away. And as for when I leave I won't be going back there I'll be going to the next city. Not sure when I would be leaving though, big city, lots of people, it'll take a bit of time to see if I can find the person I'm looking for. Its very important that I find them..." Keefe said as he noticed the girl waving to a woman who was selling flowers, that gave him an idea. Quickly he walked over to the woman and pulled some money out of his wallet, "One of those and... these. Thanks." He said as he took a small bunch of, what seemed to be, wild flowers, and a single red rose. He then quickly walked back to over to the girl, and held the rose out to her, "Just a small gift to show my appreciation for showing me around." He smiled, then turned to the man, "I would give you a flower too but I don't see that being... appropriate. I can repay you in another way, like a discount at my place." He said with another smile, as he turned back to the girl and held his arm out to Elaine, "Well shall we continue on our way?"

"I've heard stories about what's beyond the city. It must be great to travel." Elaine had often daydreamed about leaving the city, but she was too tied to home to go. Keefe took off back to the woman selling flowers. It was an old friend of her mothers'. She stopped and waited for him to return. When he came back though he held out a beautiful flower. A rose. "Oh! It's wonderful! Thank you." Elaine said smiling. She giggled a bit at the thought of Keefe giving Iacomus a flower. She didn't want to see Iacomus' face for fear she may laugh out loud. Keefe offered her his arm and she looped hers through it. "Absolutely." She said. They took off down the road. "Look! It's one of the jugglers. They are the pranksters mostly. And there's one of the finest places to eat you've ever seen in your entire life!" Elaine lit up with detail as she talked about some of the favorable mentions in the Theater District.

Keefe smiled as Elaine told him a bit about the city and the people in it, the was she lit up about the city, and the excitement she had for it made Keefe smile just a little wider. "So that's the 'Best place Ever' hu...? Seems like I should try that sometime, once I'm a little more settled... But I think I will need someone to accompany me there? Might that someone be you?" Keefe asked as he looked at the young lady.

Elaine grinned at his offer. Using her other hand she put the flower behind her ear. "I would be delighted to join you. Just find me whenever you've got some free time." The sound of music and laughter got louder as they approached a large building. Its arches and walls looking grand even in the dreary gray cold. "Say hello to the heart of it all. The Theater." Elaine gestured to it proudly like it was her own home. A few musicians played a jolly tune in front with people dancing here and there. Merriment and humor were plentiful. Passersby gave a friendly smile or a tip of the hat. "This is the best place for when your feeling down or just in the need of a laugh. Most are friendly and will be glad to show you around or help you find anything you need." She giggled at a nearby clown. "Restaurants and Inns as far as the eye can see. Pretty great place to be if I do say so myself." Elaine let the Theater and the music do the rest of the talking. Waiting for Keefe's reaction was the fun part.

Keefe's eyes lit up at all the people and stands around that filled the streets, "Wow... This... This is amazing!" Keefe said as he looked around and noticed all the art stands that stood off to the side of the street. "I've never seen anything like this... This is like a big town gathering back where I come from... but like... with sooo many more people.... Is it like this every day?" Keefe asked as he turned to Elaine with wide eyes.

"Every day all day long." Elaine replied. "The music never stops. That's why I came here. It's my favorite place to be. Full of good friends." Elaine tossed a few coins to the musicians who nodded appreciatively. "But don't be here past dark unless you have to." She let the warning come and go like smoke. She glanced around nonchalantly checking their surroundings. That's turning into a habit... "What are you in the mood to explore first?" She asked catching a flyer that was handed to her by a promoter. She turned it over to view the schedule and held it out so Keefe could see it as well. "This is all the shows for this week. Come see one if you fancy it and afterwards you can find me and we can go to the "best place in town"." She smiled at him. The music changed to a jaunting Irish tune as they continued past.

"Wow..." Keefe said in awe, thinking it is always like this, he wonder what it would be like if a party or festival going on. Keefe look around as Elaine talked about all the people and what not, but what she said next threw him off a bit. Waiting until she was done talking about all the different plays and what not the thought for a moment what he wanted to say. "I'll have to see if I have time for that." Keefe smiles as he turned to look at her, "What... What exactly did you mean by not being out here passed dark?" Keefe asked thinking this place would be even more active after the sun goes down.

She had hoped he would bypass that remark. "Because it may look nice and all but looks can be deceiving." Elaine thought about the scar that marked her collarbone. She had learned that lesson the hard way before she moved to the Theater District. Her hair covered it at the moment. It was a sharp reminder of her first few days of roaming the streets after dark. "If you are going to be out then have a friend with you. Not everyone is as friendly as these folks." Pushing her hair back over her shoulders she exposed the pale line etched on her skin. It had healed fairly well but it was still had a bright contrast to her complexion. "It pays to be safe." She half smiled. It was the honest truth and she wanted him to know that. She really didn't want anything happening to the boy, or anyone else for that matter.

Keefe listened carefully to what Elaine was saying, though some parts were still a bit cryptic, he could tell the bad things happen around here after dark, "I'll be sure to be home before the sun goes down then." Keefe smiled as he looked at her, he then noticed something when Elaine pulled her hair back, at first he thought it was a rough piece of hair much like Keefe's blue one but then he noticed that it didn't move and looked more like a scar. Shock and curiosity sweep over Keefe, "Oh my... If you don't mind me asking what happened?"

Elaine pondered a way to tell him what happened without scaring him to death. "Well....I was walking home one night to the Merchant's District where I lived and a drunken man mistook me for someone else." She shivered involuntarily at the memory of the steel knife aiming for her chest. She was lucky she had managed to block the first attack. The V-shaped nick was still carved into her dagger's edge. They suddenly felt like they weighed much more as they sat on her hips. "He tried to attack me with a large knife and he was extremely skilled. I ended up hiding down at the docks all night. Not exactly what I call fun but the docks are nice at night." Elaine joked. It felt better to laugh about the terror she felt running from a person intent on murder than to keep a somber demeanor. It might make her look crazy to be this casual with it but she didn't care, if it took off some of the dread she was willing to risk looking crazy."He managed to score me just before I lost him in the maze of alleyways. I went home the next morning and my Mum nearly passed out. But I was fine, live and learn as they say. I try not to be out very late anymore." Every part of what she said was true but there was a small tweak to the information. She did try not to stay out late, she tried to get her jobs over and done with quickly to be home before midnight. But that was out of the question at the moment. "How's your side of memory lane?" She asked with a small smirk.

Keefe listened in awe, shock, and a bit of terror as the girl spoke of what had happened, but for some reason she seemed to be fine with telling it. Most people, as Keefe would believe, would be scared out of their minds, and would never want to retell a story like that ever again, but for Elaine it seemed to have no trouble at all with it. Keefe's nerves began to take over as he had never dealt with anything like that before, and just as he was ready to dart out of the city and run back home, Elaine grounded him again with a rather simple question. "Oh... Me?..." Keefe said a bit thrown off, "Well... I never had anything exciting like that ever happen to me. For the most part I had a calm and nice childhood, with lots of friend and people who loved me." Keefe smiled as he thought about all the people back home. "Though I did just recently find out that my parents aren't really my parents... If that makes sense."
