OPEN TO ALL
There was a growing unease in the city, rumors flying around from the upper crust to the lower end of society, rumors that a King was coming to call on our Queen. This was most unsettling for any guild or faction that still held out hope to rise in power and influence over the monarchy. A singular queen, reigning in her missing sisters place, and without heir they could work with. But if she married a foreign king, then her rule would be absolute, and the hopes and dreams of rising in renown and prospering to the throne would be all but dashed.
As such, there was much speculation by the general population what the 5 guilds would do, if they had the chance? Would the CAEsAL put a target on the visiting kings head? Would the EIRALs defend a monarch other than their own, simply by association? What would the M.I. think of another human subjugating them? What if the foreign king boxed in the BoR's network by bringing his own Navy to their shores? How would the M.M. react if the foreign King instigate a tariff on local trade in order to increase his homelands international market? Needless to say there was a lot of anxiety over the unknown, and combined with an innate curiosity the arrival of the rumored king was being dwarfed by mass speculation at the Rail Road station.
Caitlin herself was no exception, though today she wore her role as the Baroness proudly, taking advantage of her lineage to get closer to the would-be king than a pirate ever could in a place surrounded by EIRALs. She looked through the dense crowd, amazed by just how big a mob one rumor had stirred up. She was secretly glad it wasn't her duty to protect the man, because that would be a daunting task today.
