A staple of many RPG’s, Stats are provide a somewhat visual, more concrete way of comparing one character to another.
There are a total of 7 different stats (please see post below for a more comprehensive breakdown):
Health - A representation of how easy it is to bring one down.
Stamina - A representation of how long one can keep up certain tasks (such as running).
Strength - A representation of how strong one is.
Agility - A representation of how fast one is.
Intelligence - A representation of how smart or perceptive one is.
Willpower - A representation of how successful one is in resisting the will of another.
Skill - The main determining stat for how successful one is in their respective skill (Tech, Magic, and Combat).
Each stat is on a sliding scale, with 5 being the default value. As such, Players are given 35 points to distribute between the 7 stats.
Those 35 are what your base points are considered to be; any value above it is a bonus (bonuses are granted by mastering or using certain skills, and/or filling all your active skill slots with skills from a single Tree).
Here is one example of a default stat spread:
Health: 5
Stamina: 5
Strength: 5
Agility: 5
Intelligence: 5
Willpower: 5
Skill: 5
And here is one example of a possible stat spread (with no bonuses applied):
Health: 8
Stamina: 2
Strength: 3
Agility: 4
Intelligence: 7
Willpower: 5
Skill: 6
Note that in order to increase one base stat, one or more base stats will need to be lowered to compensate, with a value of 1 being the minimum and a value of 10 being the maximum.
Any character who still didn't fill out the stats and slots fields in their personal profile will be considered to have a default stat spread (5 in all stats) with no active skills and no bonuses.
Keep in mind, these are generally not a true representations of a Player character; a Player can RP as being the smartest person, but if their Intelligence stat is lower than another character’s, then they should not be able to successfully determine if that character is telling a lie (or at the very least, cannot easily refute it despite any misgivings). As such, this is a way of determining who would win in a head to head contest, be it of strength, agility, intelligence, etc. That isn’t to say that Players cannot overcome the disadvantage; rather, they would need to find a more creative way to get around this weakness. It is okay to RP contrary to what a character's stats are, provided that participants are all in agreement. However, stats will be heavily enforced during official events and missions.
You may notice that many characters have stats that far exceed the 35 point limit. This is due to various bonuses applied to their stats, depending on the Skills they have accumulated. For better clarity, please note your total stats on your profile. At the same time, please note your base stats, along with a breakdown of any bonuses, at the Fortune Teller NPC.
