Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Open to Edelweiss Fjäril , and whoever else might want to join. It was a slow day. That's often what happened during the winter months. The outdoor stands found themselves without much business, as the vendors who sold fresh fruits and vegetables were usually without wares after the month of December. Of course, they'd be back soon, when crop growth was possible again, but this left only those selling meat, baked goods, and items that were not, in fact, food, such as his own wares.
Selling pelts typically got him more business than some of the other stands during the cold times of the year, but there was something about today... The sky was cast over by clouds, it was grey and dreary, the kind of day that made most people want stay inside and sleep. He wondered if the reason for his tiredness was this, or if it was because he had spent the early morning hours trying to dispel a hangover. He rested his face on his arm and yawned, watching the few people there walk past. Maybe he should have gone hunting today... But with his state that morning, he figured that it would not be the brightest idea to go into that monster-infested forest if his mind was not as clear as it could be. He worked on cutting some leather into strips as he waited, but even he found himself wishing for someone to simply interact with on this dreary day. If he was feeling his best today, he might go inquire about a spot in that merchant and mechanic's guild he'd been hearing about. But today was not the day to do that.

The cool weather and silver skies were never a deterrent for Edelweiss. If anything, those actually felt relaxing to her, with the streets being quieter and the promise of rain softly knocking on her windows later on. Life kept going on, and people too - and she watched the random passerbies walking around as she kept wandering down the street on her own. Partially for groceries, partially window-shopping, and partially just enjoying the occasional breeze.
She stopped by a quaint stall whose rather large owner was apparently selling pelts. That one was new in that square, and the man looked like nobody who'd have been born in the city. "Good morning." She greeted, offering the seller a small smile as she approached to glance at the wares. The redhead woman wasn't even sure if she wanted to buy anything, but was at least curious enough to give it a look.

A woman... he thought it was a woman, at least. Could have been a boy with long hair. Didn't matter to him, really. Either way, she approached the stand, a sort of relaxed, almost happy air about her, and greeted him with a quaint "Good morning." The fact that the morning was anything but 'good' aside, he grunted in response, his own sort of greeting, and stood up a little straighter, although he was still leaning on the stand. "Morning." He said. He was too tired to try and hide his accent. Didn't matter really, he thought. Wasn't sure if this woman wanted to buy any of his wares anyway. "Anything in specific you're looking for? I've got pelts, leather, and leatherwork of my own." He took one of the daggers from the display and held it out, beautiful designs in the leather on the hilt, traditional in appearance, and he yawned again. "Even custom grips for the hilts of blades." The typical greeting to potential customers. If he knew them, not many words had to be exchanged, and he preferred it that way, but for those who didn't know what he sold, it was typically beneficial to explain his wares. God, he was tired.

"Not a very chatty man, is he..." Was the first thing the redhead thought, but it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Being quiet independed of someone's size... and actually, Edelweiss praised the skies that not all big guys out there were as aggravatingly boisterous as Stephen's father. This one seller in specific seemed to have a peculiar accent (that could be rather unpopular due to war times), so maybe that was a reason for the minimal word usage too. Again, not up to her to judge. That was quite nice craftwork though.
"Hm, I was just looking around..." Then again, she did have a knife that lacked a sheath still back home. "...but do you sell any blade sheaths?"

A sheath, eh? He wouldn't have imagined that this individual in particular would have had a blade in the first place, but he knew well enough that appearances meant little when it came to the people themselves. He reached to the side and spread the scabbards he had crafted across the table, all different sizes and shapes. "I can also create custom ones, if you'd prefer." the man said, taking his personal knife in his hand, sheath adorned with the image of a wolf, and presenting it to the redhead. He returned his knife to his belt, and his face went a little pink. "I'm more of a bow and arrow man when it comes to combat, myself. My knife is used mainly for my tanning and leather work."

"I see..." The redhead mused, examining the craftwork that had been displayed and which of them had the most approximate size to what she needed.
"Mine is a multi-purpose knife. Kitchen uses, gardening, hunting, anything needed." Although she was indeed aware of what Amon had give her that for, knives were simply not her favoured killing tool. In what regarded sharp metal she'd always choose her needles first, wire second, and swords third. Anything else was just used when needed. "But the person who gave it to me didn't include a sheat along, so getting one now would be handy. How long would your custom work take for a 15cm long blade?"

He thought it over for a moment and took a piece of paper, then wrote down the price and what parts of the money would be going to what part in the crafting of it, handing it to the woman. He paused, wondering if he should say anything.... He decided he should. The big man knew he could handle himself, but he didn't know about this young woman. "I would keep your knife close to your person. Or whatever blade you might like. Down by the docks, I think... thieves are there. And I have heard of murders too." An EIRAL patrol strode by, and Aldvar glanced at the soldier,"This is especially so for the magic users-" He paused, embarrassed, as the realization hit him. "Uh... You have... probably lived in the city longer than I. Please excuse my... speaking. You know better than I do..."

"My knife is more for utilitarian purposes. As a personal weapon, I fare better with swords." But mainly needles and wire, she added in her mind. There was no way this man would know that though, and he also shouldn't know for her and his own safety.
His following embarrasment caught her slightly by surprise though, and she found herself responding to it with a soft chuckle. "No need to apologise, the concern is appreciated."

"Swords..." he mused, coming to the conclusion that she must be a fighter of some sort. It wasn't quite typical to hear of someone carrying around a sword for self-defense - but of course, it wasn't unheard of. He shook his head a little. "Uh - where do you want me to deliver it once it's done?" He knew better than to ask her address, instead going towards the more open option. He didn't care where she wanted it to be delivered, as long as it got to her and he got paid. "It will likely be done within the week... Business is... slow..." He said, glancing around the empty streets and sighing. "I'm hoping that I get into the merchant and engineer group soon." He muttered to himself. Turning back to the woman, he got back down to business, "I will need your name as well - or whatever you go by..." Didn't want to invade her personal space. "... I am Aldvar." he said after a pause that lasted an almost awkward amount of time. "Just tell me if there's any specific design you want on it and... I apologize for the amount of questions."

"It's alright, they're all normal questions." She stated with another brief chuckle, waving her hand in what she hoped was a soothing gesture. "I'm Edelweiss... Hm, I could return and pick it here within a week and pay you then? That would be more practical than risk delivering it somewhere when I'm not present. Besides I occasionally pass by the district, so it won't be too hard to meet you in your business hours."
And as for the design... "Just something simple and that covers the whole blade, please." Since the knife in question didn't come with a sheat to start with, she figured the simpler it can look the easier it would be to have it match well.

"Like the flower?" He asked before realizing what a dumb question that was, and sighed as he shook his head. "Alright, meet me here in a week then. If I am not here specifically, I will be somewhere around the district. If I am not somewhere around the district, I am probably dead. But I will try not to be."

"Yes, like the flower." And her amused smile was switched for a softer, appreciative one. Edelweiss wasn't a type of bloom native to Lodan, and since it rarely if ever made its way into any flower shops till somewhat recently (what with being an alpine flower with a short lifespan and not proper for urban cultivation), it was rare to find someone in the city who even knew it existed... before she told them at least... and even less likely to find someone who knew that's what her name referred to. That little candid question ended up sounding rather nice in her ears due to that.
"And I sure hope you're not planning on dying, it'll be counting on seeing your very alive self by then."

"I can not make any promises," He said, a bit of a smile creeping onto his face, appreciating the friendliness this individual seemed to be showing him. It was something he rarely encountered here - but, if he was going to be fair, he only interacted with others when they wanted to buy his wares. A question grew in the back of his mind, and he wondered if he should continue the conversation, or let her go to do whatever business she had planned for the day. And just as his hangover was subsiding too. "... do you frequent the merchant's district? I don't believe I have seen you here before, but you seem to know the place rather well. Is there a store you like in particular?" He stopped - was he being too nosy? There was a sort of social rift between the residents here and himself, and he still wasn't sure how to go about interacting with them. In his homeland, in the village in which he was raised, everybody knew everybody, but he wished he had met more strangers. Only dealing with what you know never lets you learn... And in his years spent wandering, he was more of a bystander, speaking only for business... To think he would have more trouble where he was stationary then he was on the road. It was against what he had been taught - but there was a part of him that always knew it would be the case.

"Occasionaly, I do." She replied with a nod to the man's question of if she frequented that district. No issues answering that, there was nothing implied on the question other than letting her deduce how new he really must be around there. "The Merchants District is the comercial center of the city, for sold goods at least (if you look for services instead of wares then the Theater District is the center instead). So here's the best place to be when I'm doing groceries or even windowshopping."
Then there was the question of if there was a store she liked in particular... "Personally though, there's an automatons shop down the street I pass by at least once whenever I'm around here." The redhead pointed in the direction she referred to. Considering Aldvar had mentioned he wanted to join Mingos, he'd have to talk to Amon at least once as well, right? So pointing the shop to him wouldn't hurt - be it to direct a prospective guild member or a new customer. She'd not be mentioning her personal relations to it though, at least not for now. If Aldvar really is new around the city then there were things that would be more interesting for him to realise on his own, and he'd hear of it soon or later anyway. "It's the guildleader's shop too, so if you're trying to join you'll probably have to pay a visit there soon or later."

"How did you kn- did I mention that I wanted to join earlier in our conversation? Ah.... I probably did..." He said, his face slightly flushed. "I haven not payed much of a visit to the theater district... " He went on, trying to cover up his embarrassment, " Something about that place... makes me uncomfortable. I can not put my finger on what...." He shook his head, "Never mind..."
