It had been some time since her talk with Lassair in that coffee shop, weeks in fact. In the end, she'd decided to hold her curiosity in check and not go looking for the mysterious group hidden in the forest, despite the red haired male so eagerly pointing her in that direction. Part of it was because she did not want to be lead somewhere that wasn't on her own terms, another was simply that she had too much to do and too much to worry about.
People where coming to her in droves these days, needing everything from sleep remedies so they could sleep at night through the mortar fire to having to fix up broken limbs and crushed hands. Her work hours were growing increasingly long with seemingly no end and that in turn was putting a different kind of stress on her shoulders. Vieka had been suffering from magic instability for a while now, the times between the spikes growing steadily shorter and it was truly starting to worry her. She was well on her way the fluxing, she wasn't foolish enough to not see the signs coming, but worried her more than anything would be the people caught in the crossfire. She was still staying in the Leland manor to start with. If she fluxed within it's bounds, Charles would not only see that she was both Ander and monster, but so would Stephen. She could end up seriously hurting either or both if she wasn't kept in check.
Already setting the bed sheets on fire when she tried to sleep, her options were quickly running out. She found herself spending more and more time at the church, less time at work and the manor, but nothing was seemingly working. At this rate, she was still going to flux, and knowing her luck she very well may just burn down a district intentionally this time, or as intentionally it would be in a state only fuelled by magic and power anyway. It wasn't like her mind was with her in that state.
So that led her to this. Unwanting to cause more damage than her fluctuating magic already had, she began searching into the rumours in hopes that they could teach her magical restraint. Only, she did it her way. She did not go to the edge of the forest at the stroke of midnight for some hooligan to pick her up with mystic mumbo jumbo, she skipped that part and went straight to looking for their base of operations. There was a very good chance it was located in the forest since that was the only place nearby uncharted fully by the military thanks to shadow beasts, and since almost all the rumours pointed in this direction it was a good a place as any to start. Her stays at the Leland manor became shorter and short as she gradually stayed at the Church, using it as her base of operations as she scoped the area's around it searching for the mysterious groups headquarters.
It would help if she knew exactly what she was looking for, but she didn't, so she had to make do with what info she had. It wasn't easy, it took weeks to even realise she was on the right track. Stubbornness pushed her forward, but it was desperation that pushed her through.
The doctor stared up at the large manor in front of her, so carefully concealed within the dense of the forest as if it's very structure belonged there. It looked like something out of a bad horror really, but she kind of liked it, if she were being honest with herself. Right then, where to go from here?
She wasn't foolish enough to simply try and walk in, no doubt the place was covered in magic. She needed a way to catch their attention then. Scanning the surrounding area, seeing nothing but tree's and foliage. She could set one on fire, but didn't particularly like the idea of killing off something living that had done nothing wrong. Thankfully, there was a smallish dead tree not too far away from her. Big enough to make a pretty sizeable fire to catch attention, but not too big to be seen from the canopy.
Moving over and running her fingers across the bark, it didn't take long for the dry wood to catch, and Vieka watched as more and more of the dead tree began to burn. Folding her arms and letting the heat of the raw flames warm her from the cold night air, she turned her direction back towards the manor. Now it was just a matter of waiting.
“Come out come out, wherever you are..” She murmured to herself, eyes half lidded behind her mask.
