Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Howl ran and ran. Just anywhere it was a miracle that he hadn't tripped or got tired. Maybe splitting up wasn't a good idea. He needed to find the twins, Howl knew they knew stronger magic than him. Howl started to turn back to were the twins hopeful were, they could definitely run faster than him.
His parents had only taught him a little about soldiers like these. All he knew was that they confident and determined, and much more resilient than normal people. Howl just kept looking for a way out. This was his trial but he would need help.
By some miracle Howl managed to find a twin. As to which one it was, Howl didn't have time to figure it out. Panting Howl wheezed "I cant r-run for much longer, do you know any m-magic that can help?"

Leo kept running as a familiar face came running next to him. So the kid was tired, Leo could tell that from the huffing and puffing. "I know a bit, how much it will help I don't know, but I do have an idea." Leo said as he looked behind them some. It seemed the some of the men were falling behind, not many but a few. If this idea of his was going to work he needed Emelo here too. Raising his hands up to his mouth Leo place his fingers into his mouth before blowing out, letting a nice and rather loud whistle out, it almost sounded like a screaming bird.
Emelo heard this whistle and immediately turned and began to run towards it, catching up to the other two in no time. "What's going on, do we have a plan?" Emelo asked as he ran next to his brother.
"Well I have something but I need you guys to buy me some time." Leo said as he looked over to Howl some, "If you two can just keep running around for a bit more, lead them away from me I'll set something up. I'll whistle when I'm done, once that happens run back this way. Ok?" Leo questioned wanting to make sure this was ok with Howl.
Howl looked to leo listening to him explain what he was going to do. "I-I umm... Thats fine..." Howl muttered as began to run to the left. I wish I knew what the plan was.
Howl ran, focusing mostly on not tripping, as tripping would mean he got captured and probably killed. When Howl finally heard the whistle he started to run back. It seemed fairly close so it wouldnt take him long to get there. He could only hope the Leo was ready.

"I call for you guys when I'm ready." Leo said before darting off to the right. As soon as he was far enough away Leo grabbed onto the nearest tree and climbed up it, hopefully out of sight from any of the solders that would be racing after him. Taking just a moment to figure out where he was Leo head off in the direction the the camp was in.
Emelo watched for a moment as his brother ran off, before he turned back to Howl, "If I know my brother at all I would have to say some fire of some kind might be in his plan... Though were that would be I don't really know." Emelo said as the two of them kept running, "We just have to wait until we hear him whistle." Emelo added as he looked behind him some. Man there were so many solders chasing them...
Leo looked around for a moment as he notice there were only a small handful of people left here, all the others seemed to be looking for them. This could work out well... Looking around once more Leo found just want he needed. Hopping down form the tree he quickly made his way over to a set of wooden crates and boxes, luck for him on of them was open, with shredded hay inside. He smiled some as he reached up and took a handful of the stuff. With a few snaps from his fingers the hay lit and a small fire began to eat at the straw in his hand. Grabbing a few more handfuls Leo began to spread the fire, before he placed the back in and around the boxes and crates. Backing up some, Leo made his way back to the tree, just as the open box caught on fire. He smiled again before letting out the same whistle from before, and with that he made his way farther and father from the camp.
It seemed like they had been running forever, and all Emelo could think was that something bad had happened, but just as that thought entered his mind it quickly left as the sound of his brothers whistle. "Come on, I think he is ready." Emelo said to Howl as he began to turn off some in the direction the whistle came from.
(Sorry for the long absence and long post... But hey better late then never!)
With Emelo at his side Howl ran towards the whistle. At this point Howl couldn't stop running cause if he did, he would surely not be able to start again. I feel like I've been running through these woods for months. This war should be over already. As they both neared the camp Howl could see an orange-red glow in the camp.
After making it to Leo, Howl barely manged to ask between breaths for air, "What... did... you... do?"

The soldier who had been told to pilot the mech had just finished his mechanics checks when the fire was started. As the red-orange glow entered his vision, his first reaction was to turn the machine off and get out, but the commander in front of him spoke otherwise. “Get that thing out of here and go after them! They’ll pay for this!” He shouted, waving the soldier away from the flames as he tried to pat them out with a tarp. The fire was spreading fast, but the soldiers at camp were doing their best to combat it. As the blaze grew, the soldiers sent to chase after the spies began trickling back in to help with the effort. There wasn’t much they could do, but they tried to do what they could. Most of the machines couldn’t be rescued at the moment, but after the blaze died they might be salvageable. Might.
The man in the mech took it upon himself to begin stomping into the forest, struggling to weave between the trees, but at least he was getting farther away from the blaze. He was just thankful that they weren’t transporting any explosives this round. Just machines… Keeping his eyes open, he wandered and tried to find any spies still lingering around.
Meanwhile, Lasair had been traveling through the forest as a brisk pace. It seemed that he might need to lend a hand, or at the very least, make sure the members made it back in one piece. Tyrell could no longer watch from the sky because of the rising cloud of smoke, but the three on the ground might still be at risk. As he neared the camp, he looked or any sign of Howl or the twins. Maybe they’d be able to spot him by the reflection of fire on his golden mask.

All Emelo could do was place his hand on his face and let out a sigh as he saw the flames rise in the background behind his brother. "What... I..... Why?" He finally managed to say, not from shortness of breath but from not having the words to know what to say.
Leo stood there smiling a bit, he always did have fun setting things on fire. "What? I figured if I set their camp on fire they would all have to go back and help put it out, giving us enough time to get out of here without anyone following us." He said, feeling as though his reasons were perfectly fine and understandable.
"Let's just get out of here and go find the others." Emelo said as he turned to Howl, "Since this is you mission lead the way."
Leo nodded as he stood next to his brother. He kept an eye out for anyone who might be coming, but all he really saw besides the flames was some bright reflection off in the distance.
Howl struggled to catch his breath, although he was rapidly recovering "Just one more... S-second" Howl said "A-Alright I'm better, this mask is suffocating" Howl looked towards the blazing camp trying to orient himself in the forest. "I believe its this way" Howl pointed to where he thought HQ might be. As Howl started walking he whispered "S-Sorry for causing all this... W-whats that?" Howl looked at a shining glint of light off in the distance to the left "l-lets go see..." Howl neared the shining light and was suppressed to find the walker patrolling the woods.
"Eep!" Howl squeaked barely audible. Howl turned to run hoping the twins would follow. He saw another golde shine off in the distance that looked a lot like lasair's golden mask, he hoped it was true and went towards that

The two followed behind Howl as he began to make his way though the wood. The two weren't exactly sure where they were but the had a rough idea of where the HQ was, though the way howl was going it seemed to be the opposite way. No matter, this was his trial after all so the tow just followed, only to stop and turn around and run the opposite way after they nearly ran into the walking that was in the wood.
"Well that seemed to be the wrong way." Leo said as the two caught back up with Howl.

As Howl neared the walker, the man piloting it just so happened to notice him running off, so he turned to follow after him, moving as quickly as a hunk of metal could through the trees.
As the group neared Lasair, he jumped down to land next to them, calling in a stern voice. “I hope you got what you needed. You need to get back to base. Now. I want to make sure this fire doesn’t spread too far into the trees. Head straight there and I’ll meet you as soon as I can.” He was going to dart off right away, but then thought better of it. Might be better to wait a moment to see if they had anything to say to him first. Lasair also failed to notice the walker tailing them not too far off.
Howl was relived to see Lasair again, he knew this dreadful night was almost over. "I b-believe I got everything I needed, although I nearly got caught twice... o-once by a soldier and another time by a walker... I think the walker was following us so keep and eye out for it..." Howl started to walk in the direction, but hesitated. He turned around and called to Lasair, "Do... Do you want me to come with you? I u-ummm..." Howl desperately wanted to go home, but he would have to wait for Lasair either way and waiting would make him anxious again.

“Do what you will.”
He wanted to add more, such as ‘I already gave an order’ but he thought better of it. This was Howl’s trial, after all, if he wanted to step up to try and help more, then he was welcome to it. But the fire was quickly becoming a problem. Lasair darted off to the side, hoping to catch and extinguish some embers before they set too much ablaze.
"W-Well..." Was the only thing Howl was able to say before Lasair darted away faster than Howl could answer. "Well I guess that answers that..." He mumbled. Howl turned and looked at the twins to see how they were doing before he turned and went in the direction that Lasair told him too. Howl walked briskly towards HQ and as he got closer a sense of relief slowly filled him and then he remembered the twins, "Y-You guys have been quite for a while... are you ok?" Howl hopped they didn't think less of him after this night. They still had a bit of a walk before them and Howl felt like it was getting awkward.

The two just stood there and watched as everything went down, and as Howl turned and began to make his way toward the HQ the twins though it best to make sure he got there, they could always go back later and help Lasair. As the group began to make their way back the twins walked side by side, step for step with one another, just as they always do, they only became out of sync for a moment when Howl turned to ask them something. The two looked at one another for a moment before turning back to Howl, "Are we ok?" The both questioned, each wearing a different facial expression.
"Yes. We didn't mean to be quiet." Emelo said with a warm and small smile. He was tired and worn out from all the running, after all he wasn't exactly and athlete.
"Just figured it wasn't a good time to say something. After all you were talking with Lasair." Leo said with a bit of a snicker as he shoved his hands in his pockets. After all this Leo was happy, he did get to play with fire which he enjoyed doing.
"It would have been rude of us to interrupt. Plus this is your trial. We would hate to sway your decisions on what you want to do." Emelo added as he looked over to his brother some, sighing a bit in the process. He hoped that Lasair could calm the fire some.
"So ya think ya did good with your trial?" Leo asked as he looked over to Howl.
Emelo sighed, "L you don't ask something like that until after the trial is over. We still need to wait until Lasair gets back."
"Ehh he'll be back in no time." Leo added as he looked back some. he couldn't really tell if the fire was getting smaller or staying the same size.

With the new member dismissed, Lasair turned his attention to combating the flames. It wasn’t too difficult, at least. But he did need to be careful and avoid the soldiers who were more worried about their equipment than they were about the trees. Not that Lasair could blame them, but if the fire took over too many trees, the blaze would be so great that saving anything would be pointless and near impossible. Of course they didn’t think of that though. And while Lasair didn’t outright mind the aggressive tactic, he didn’t like the fact that men could die in the blaze. MI wasn’t a guild of murderers. But, in this instance, it could be acceptable. They weren’t directly attacking the people, but rather their things. If they decided to fight for the materials instead of preserve their lives, that would be their choice. No blood on his hands.
It took time, but when he was sure that the fire would only spread north (if it continued to spread at all; there was so little wind that the embers might not fly), he turned and began heading back towards HQ. With luck, his three guildmates would be there waiting for him.
But little did he know, the stray walker was also approaching HQ, eager to both escape the flames and possibly find these spies. He certainly wouldn’t stumble upon the base itself, but if he lingered long enough, it might draw the wrong kind of attention… Howl and the twins might be able to hear its stomping if they stopped and listened for it.
