Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

"Used to be?" Now it was Edelweiss' turn to blink. His father isn't Lucas Croswell anymore? How did that work? Did his mother get divorced, or maybe the man died... oh well. It wasn't her business to meddle in anyway. "Seems like it's common for most engineers to be secretive about their projects, in varied degrees... Heavens know Amon is about his own too. He only shows them to me after they're already ready." Not that she could blame him; everyone had their secrets... and there were some restrictions for her to interact safely around technology anyway.
"The letters stand for 'Crafters/Artists and Entertainers Association of Lodan'. But if you look down to it, regarding the guild itself we're kind of similar to Mingos, it's all about market demand. Just you guys offer products (machines and good in general), and CAEsAL offers services (enternainment and information)."

"Uh, yeah," he murmured and rubbed the back of his neck. "My old man died last year due to burns and infection. Our house caught on fire which is why I never finished Stephen's bike and why he's mad at me, ya know? I took my mom out of town to get her mind off of it some. And oh yeah, lots of engineers got their secrets. Everyone does though--ain't going to find anyone who ain't got at least one skeleton in their closet. Say, how do you know Amon so well? Do you go way back or something?" He still wasn't aware the two guild leaders were dating.
"I guess you're right about the two guilds. They are similar, aren't they. So, where's this Lockberry place at? I have never been there."

"Oh, that's unfortunate... My condolences." Though rather late. "Should I pass the news to Stephen? I sure can imagine him being miffed at the delay, but not if he knew what caused it. ...Though you must be right, so many people hiding so many skeletons around the city." Some less metaphorical than others.
At the question on how she knew Amon so well though, Edelweiss gave him a half-smile. "That's because we're lovers. Which reminds me, if you suggest setting up dates for him with Alice or anyone else again I'll have to slap you - so don't." And then about Lockberry... "It's just down the street. See that second building before the corner, with the large glass door framed in wood? It's there."

"No need, it's been a year. I've gotten time to accept it. Uh, you don't have to tell him unless you want? I mean, I don't care if he's mad at me--he's always mad with me for whatever reason," he shrugged with his words. "He's moodier than that girl with the bird down the street from me--Wait, wait, Wha... hah... hah..?" His eyes went wide at the revelation of Edelweiss and Amon being lovers. Lovers? LOVERS? Amon had a lover? And he never told him? Oh, and then there was the threat. "Uh, I don't think it's going to happen anyway? They don't seem like the sort to like each other I guess. And, uh, er, I dunno." He shrugged and winced slightly at the memory of the girl kissing him--not on the lips, but still a kiss. How it made him shudder. "Right. Right. Lockberry. So, uh, how did you and Amon... well, you know," he gestured with his hand to indicate nothing in particular but hinting at them getting together.

Edelweiss shook her head amusedly. "Stephen is often grumpy and moody (and occasionally rude), yes, but it's hard to see him actually angry. Believe me, you'll notice the difference if you ever see it." And just like about herself, Viktor better hope to never witness the true anger of an assassin. It was cold rather than hot-headed, and much, much more painful. Anyway, she'd let Stephen know about Viktor's father the next time she sees him. As far as she knew the eyepatched noble, he'd understand it and perhaps Viktor might even gain an apology for any moodiness... she really didn't understand why people never tried to explain things to him. Couldn't blame him for the constant frown if they left him in the dark... oh well. Enough of mental rambling and onto the next topic: how she and Amon got together.
"He invited me out for dinner then confessed to me on the way back, and I accepted." She answered simply, with both a smile and a raised eyebrow while looking at the redhead mechanic. It was one of the most normal ways to start a relationship ever - did he expect anything else?

"He's a little rude, yeah. Insulted me mum and pops when I first met him just cause I accidentally bumped into him. And ya sure? He always seems angry to me. He's going to get real bad wrinkles with the way he frowns all the time. But I guess I'll take your word for it." And so the conversation moved onto Amon and Edel. "When was this? Recent? While I was out of town? Amon always seemed so busy to you know... do things like that. Somehow I thought you guys met at some sort of like... weird convention. Or I don't know. Stuff. You guys both did stuff and then you talked about stuff and then stuff happened and now you're both stuff. This is odd to me. I'm not sorry." His words came out in a ramble. Was he even sure what he was talking about now? Kind of. No, he wasn't really sure. He just knew that Edel was dating Amon and that was weird to him. Why was it so weird? It was just weird. Amon? And Edel? Yeah, definitely weird. He couldn't wrap his mind around it. "Weird," he muttered and shook his head.

"You sound like a boy who just found out his older brother got a girlfriend, did you know..." Edelweiss told with an eyeroll, but she was more amused than miffed at his bluescreening repetition of her and Amon dating being 'weird'. As they walked into Lockberry, she let Viktor choose the seats for them. She usually sat at the counter when she went there on her own, but didn't mind using the tables when had company.
"For your information, I and Amon know each other since Lodan's 300th Jubilee, years ago. We did meet even before that, but the Jubilee party was the first time we stood close for time enough to have a proper chat. And he first asked me out around June this year."

"Well... that's kind of exactly what happened," he replied to Edelweiss. Viktor did not have siblings since his mother couldn't physically handle anymore. NK-5 was one but he was also nonliving. The closest thing Viktor had was probably Amon--in fact, Amon was also probably his best friend given he did not have many? Amon was reliable, someone he could go to and expect to never vanish on him. Hearing about his and Edelweiss' relationship wasn't odd in the simple fact that they were but also because he didn't know and that meant he didn't know Amon well or even at all. The realization was quite the shock.
Viktor eyed the seats and settled on a set by the corner and out of the way. When he was with company, he preferred the privacy since it also meant less sides for other sound waves to interrupt their conversation. "Really? That long ago? This city's smaller than I thought," he laughed lightly. "Hey, what do you want, I'll buy," he asked as began making his way tot he counter.

That first response of Viktor's actually got a softer smile from Edelweiss this time. "Maybe you should tell him that then, with all letters. Might be healthy for him to have a 'little sibling' closeby, sometimes I worry that everytime I visit there's that 'I was all alone' air in that shop... I mean, as cute as Abby and Abe are, they still don't have actual emotions - no offense to them." And as introvert as Amon might be, it still worried her if something happened while she's not nearby, would he have someone close to give support... Well, if Viktor's there that is a bit relieving.
"I don't think it's as much the city's size per se as it's just guild members being like strange magnets and flocking to each other. Personal theory of mine." She pondered with a snicker, remembering when months ago she had discussed something similar with Lasair Landevier Lupen. "Thanks. Hmm... a cheese-filled potato and a cup of tea, I guess."
Post by Viktor Croswell on Oct 26, 2015 7:43:18 GMT
"Nah. Don't want to pester him, ya know? He's busy with important things and has to keep focused. Me? I can barely finish one project. And I guess you're right. Kind of like magnets... though really I only ever saw a couple people again? I don't get out much either." As often as he dilly dallied, he didn't leave his shop much but rather started several projects and would get distracted by another. Upon receiving Edel's order, he went to make his own and gave hers to the lady behind the counter then waited to the side until it was ready before returning back to Edel with the tray in hand. Since her order had been rather good at the moment, the red headed mechanic ordered the same for himself though in place of the tea he chose coffee. "So, what do you do outside of the theatre district? Does it ever get boring to be surrounded by entertainment all the time? I mean, same shows for a period of time until something else comes up?"
Post by Edelweiss Fjäril on Oct 26, 2015 17:48:28 GMT
Edelweiss grinned. "Nothing in this District gets boring, Viktor, and if it does then you're just not looking in the right direction. We have variety enough to keep my attention fresh and focused." She replied, adding a thanks to the end as he brought her tray over. "The exception would be paperwork, but it's the bones of the the job, can't fully escape from that..."
"As for your first question, what I do outside my district depends on the day. From groceries and a bit of frolicking in my free time, interguild business and recruiting, and ocasionally... visitting yours, for a certain silver-haired reason. What about you?"

"I didn't mean that anything was boring per se, just that don't some of the acts get to be over done if you're exposed to them on a great multitude? But I see what you mean. The district is large enough that shouldn't be an issue to always find something new." Paperwork. She had to mention paperwork. He hated that aspect in his own job and wasn't surprised that it was the backbone to every job out there including anything within the theatre. "Has to be done," he murmured. "Almost exactly the same thing. Even the bothering a certain silver-haired person buuuut I think my reasons are different than yours."

"That's true." She chuckled. It was true, for everything he'd said. One thing in particular caught her attention though: "So you're dealing with Mingos' interguild business too? What about Gabriel?" Wasn't that a duty that the second-in-command was usually left in charge of? No wonder Stephen had thought Viktor was in that role before.

Viktor rested his chin in his hand while poking at his potato with the other. A shrug came in reply followed by a vocalization of his answer, "I'm not all too sure, really. He's been busy or sick. Maybe both? I haven't seem him as of late and neither has Amon. Whether something was worked out between them was not shared with me. All I know is that Amon needed some help so I stepped in. Hey, how'd you know about Gabe? Did you meet him then?"
Post by Edelweiss Fjäril on Nov 2, 2015 17:17:47 GMT
"Mingos' 2IC post isn't a secret, you know. Plus, I try to keep track of who's in charge of the other guilds, for work reasons. So yes I do know of Gabe - brunette man with a slight limp, has a rather polite speech pattern, specialized in clock manufacture and repair - but no we're not personal acquaintances." She responded, giving a shrug of her own.
"Though now I understand better why Stephen mistook you for your guild's second-in-command. It was no wonder, you are indeed working the part. ...And you sound like you get buried in paperwork more than I do." She finished saying with a bit of a snicker.
