Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

There she goes always avoiding the subject about herself. For once, Kalum wished it'd be easy to talk to Alice about such things but she never did make it so. He wasn't the sort to blush, however, when Alice began reciting a line from his poems the tips of his ears turned red just as they always did when she managed to embarrass him but before he could grab her to pull her under his arm so he could rub his knuckles into her head, she was out of reach. "Oh you think you're so funny. What was that I caught you reading last time? Some silly book... oh what was that line I read," he paused then smirked deviously, "she had the strangest desire to twine around his body, like ivy on a lamp post, supported by him yet capable of pulling him down." Like she had down, he mocked her very motions with placing a hand to his chest and throwing his head back though his other hand also rose to place his forearm to his forehead. A loud snort left him after and he couldn't help but continue to cackle.
Wiping away the tears that formed in his eyes, he straightened as he had doubled over in his laughter then continued to walk. "Alice, truly, I just want to know if you are happy here. If not then we can find some place else. I hear Bulrush is really advanced in tech."

Oops! Busted! Alice's cheeks immediately bloomed a bright crimson when he starting talking about one of her novels. Perfectly respectable things, they were. Nothing dirty about them in the slightest. Nope. There wasn't really anything she could do to save face... so she did what she always did when Kalum won. She stuck her tongue out at him. It looked like she needed to find a better hiding spot when she read next.
Alice looked up at the sky and kicked her legs out with each step, almost like the stereotyped robot walk, but her hands moved freely. "Do you want to go to Bulrush?"

With a determined sigh the older brother stalked over to his sister from behind and reached out to firmly grab her on either side of her arms. "Alice. You're doing it again. I know you don't like talking about yourself but it's okay to with me. Just tell me how you feel. If you're worried about me then don't because I am happy as long as I am able to be around you no matter where we go. If you want to stay here then alright. If you want to go home, then we'll go home. If you want to leave altogether, I will find a way to make it happen but please just talk to me." It wasn't subtle but he wasn't exactly as clear headed as he could have been. He would neglect to tell her he was mildly homesick, but he didn't want to return home either.

Alice let out a small yelp at being grabbed and listened quietly while Kalum spoke. She shrugged out of hid grasp and kept walking towards the city. "I like it here. There's so much to see, so much to try and figure out. But I'm not exactly happy. I think content might be a better word for it? We came at a bad time, I think, and that's making it harder to actually view the city as it is. There's something happening, and the whole city's being swept up in it, so I don't know if I'm actually happy here or not. But I think I'm content. With the way things are right now, anyways. And besides, Bulrush is a military state. Everything they have will be focused on being functional and doing as much damage as possible. No room for craftsmanship there, unless you think I should be a gunsmith."
Alice paused and looked back at Kalum with a big grin. "Your turn."

When he actually managed to get Alice to speak things felt much more simpler and so when she no longer avoided his question and relayed her answer Kalum listened silently and gratefully. She wasn't happy? Was it because as she mentioned things were getting worse in Lodan? Her explanations of Bulrush were correct... and she would most certainly not find happiness there in a place where her creativity would not be allowed to grow. A small sigh escaped the older sibling before he offered the younger a soft smile. "I am unsure yet. I think you chose a good word. Content. Perhaps we need only to adjust? Never mind that. The city lights are coming on--look, you can see the glow of the... uh, I think that is theatre district? No... Central? I have not gotten the layout all figured out yet. I believe now all that is left is to decide on where to take you first. What would you like to see first, Alice? Or perhaps would you only prefer to amble about?"
Post by Alice Wulfgang on Sept 13, 2015 6:30:58 GMT
Alice shook her head and giggled at Kalum. "No, the Central district is over there." Alice pointed to the side of where Kalum was indicating. "You were looking at the Theater district. Specifically where it meets the Merchant's district." Alice swung her arms wide and took big steps as they walked. "I think we need to get you some dinner. Something more than just sugar, anyways. So let's look for that, alright? Maybe we can find a bistro or something still open... I don't want to deal with smelly men in smelly bars." Alice made a face and stuck her tongue out. She'd found out that the city had some real creeps prowling around.
"I want chowder. So let's go find someplace that has chowder!"
Post by Kalum Wulfgang on Sept 14, 2015 0:19:07 GMT
"Are you certain of that?" She was likely right because that was making marvels of sense to him now that he thought on it. As she took longer steps, he did not have to since he was much taller than his sister as it were and could keep up with his longer strides. "Chowder? I think I could go for some as well. Luckily for you, I do not prefer to be surrounded by a bunch of drunken men as well." Just like Alice, he did not want her dealing with any creepers. The thought of any talking to her made him clench his jaw but then he softened his expression and smiled. "I think there is a good place in the Theatre district that offers Chowder. If we hurry, we might get there before they close up and then we can walk around town. I hear they serve their chowders in bowls of bread. Since you know which district is which better, why not lead the way?"
Post by Alice Wulfgang on Sept 14, 2015 3:33:15 GMT
"I most certainly am certain of it!" Alice nodded her head imperiously with her statement. Alice watched Kalum as he spoke before clicking her tongue. "I know how to get to the Theater district... but not where to go once we get there. I spend most of my time in the Merchant's district looking at some of the mechanical wares people are selling. There's this little shop that has little wind up rockets! They're like... this big, and you wind it up and put hot water in it, and it just blasts off! Swooooosh! Straight into the sky!" Alice held her hands a couple inches apart to indicate their size.
Alice tilted her head as she looked at Kalum. "Why don't you know the city yet? I figured you'd need to for your job. Or are you sleeping when you say you're going out for work?"
Post by Kalum Wulfgang on Sept 14, 2015 5:22:37 GMT
A chuckle left him as he listened to his sister carry on about rockets from one of the shops in the Merchant's District. "Is that so? Is that not dangerous? Won't someone maybe lose an eye? Come to think of it," he trailed off as he folded his arms over his chest then lifted a hand to his chin in mock thought, "many people do have one eye here. Do you see how many eye patches there are?" At her inquiry of whether he slept on the job or not he snorted. "I don't always sleep, Alice. And of course I do need to memorize the city. But it's only been like a week or so. The city is large, you know. Slowly I am getting it down." He had more of it down than he'd let on, but what he memorized weren't exactly the city's layouts. What he did put down were certain buildings and which bricks were loose. "When we get to the district, I can find my way around for the chowder. How's that sound? And maybe tomorrow I can get you one of those rockets."
Post by Alice Wulfgang on Sept 14, 2015 6:01:31 GMT
"It's only dangerous if you're dumb." Alice paused and looked at Kalum. "You should probably stay away from them..." She laughed as she kept walking and, again, made sure she was out of reach of those lanky arms of his. "Really? Oh! There was that noble something or other in Viktor's shop that one time! He had an eyepatch! What was his name... Stewart... Stanley... Steven? I think it was... no, wait! Stephen! Like pen, but with a fuh instead of puh sound!" Alice looked like a lightbulb had just bloomed into illumination above her head.
And Kalum could find their chowder for them when they got there? She wasted no more time. "Come! This way dear brother! My conquest awaits!" Alice pointed dramatically towards the Theater district and picked up her pace. Truth be told, she was -really- hungry... but that wasn't much of a change from normal to be honest.

Kalum was smiling and enjoying the moment between himself and his baby sister--until her words came crashing down on his ears. Did she just...? His brows gathered over the bridge of his nose, his ears went slightly red, and his mouth hung as he gaped at her. "You little brat," he said though his tone was tinged with amusement. Brows shot up after and he went to grab for her but again she was out of his reach. Dumb and slow he found himself thinking then just laughed a little. "Your conquest? Alice, I swear to whatever deity, I'll get you back for that," and then he broke out into a run after.

Alice was busy laughing at Kalum when he failed to grab her again. At least, she was laughing until he broke out into a run. She let out a panicked 'eep!' and bolted, trying to stay ahead of her giant of a brother. Which might have worked if not for a few things. One, her legs were shorter than his. Two, he was a trained soldier in excellent physical condition. And three, she was not an athletic woman in the slightest. She was dashing at a mad sprint to try and keep ahead of him, but he just kept closing the distance. Alice quickly started huffing and puffing as she ran out of steam and abruptly dropped down to a slow walk as she tried to catch her breath.
"Not... not so fast..." the woman puffed heavily. She's have to start running sometime. She always told herself she would, but never quite got around to it. "Let's... let's just... walk." Alice wheezed as she laced her fingers behind her head to open up her airways like Bjorn'd taught her.

The huntsman was having none of it. Nope, as she had slowed down, he ducked down and scooped the young girl up to throw her over his shoulder so that he could tote her around as they finally reached the city. "Where's the district again...?" He had to release her in order to find out though he didn't simply just drop her for fear of hurting her. As he lowered her down, he swung her around then let her go after her feet were on the ground. "I know we just left Bimbury, but do you think in a couple weeks we should go back to visit everyone?"
Post by Alice Wulfgang on Sept 14, 2015 6:34:13 GMT
Alice squawked as Kalum scooped her up. "Put me down! Right now!" Alice immediately tried to hold her skirt down over her backside, which wasn't easy with all the bouncing and jostling she was getting form Kalum. "Kalum! Put me down! I'm going to be sick!" Who wouldn't be sick with someone's shoulder jabbing into your stomach with each step?
Sweet merciful ground. Her feet were beneath her once more and she glared at Kalum, nearly beet red from a mixture of her short sprint and embarrassment. "You know I hate that! You know it!" Alice turned and stormed towards the Theater district, before turning back on Kalum and pointing one of her fingers at his nose almost close enough to be touching. "Just for that, you're paying for my dinner too." Alice let out an indignant harumph before she started walking again.
Bimbury... it wouldn't hurt to go back, would it? "I... guess? It'd be nice to see Cathy again... she tells me she's found a cute boy who's a real sweetheart and I kind of want to meet him. But what about Mom? And Papa? Do you think they're still mad?" Alice fidgeted with her fingers as she spoke about their parents.
Post by Kalum Wulfgang on Sept 14, 2015 6:45:11 GMT
The chuckle that left Kalum this time was loud thanks to his booming voice and it did not die down for a long while yet. In fact, he kept laughing until his face went red and tears rose to his eyes. He didn't even stop when her finger was jabbed in his face though he gently batted her hand away. "I thought... I was... going to pay for it anyway," he said, finally catching his breath. "Don't I always?" No matter what it was, when the two were together, he'd always insist or try to intercept her to pay for her things because he enjoyed the idea of her being happy.
As he sobered up from their previous experience, he looked to her as she spoke about Cathy then their parents. "I would also like to see who Cathy has her eye on. As for mom and papa? They might be still mad, but they're still our parents, Alice. I think they would be more sad than anything, you know? They didn't hate you though I know sometimes you really thought they might have, but they do love you. They always have. It's just they wanted what was best for you and didn't think it was tech. You're smart though. Smarter than me or even mom and papa. They won't be upset when we go back and tell them you're going to be apprentice to a big shot."
