Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Open to Uriah Han and anyone else who wants to join Jak sat cross-legged on the cold, dirty ground of the slum. His hat was pulled down lower over his face, his skin and clothing smudged with more dirt and soot than usual. He slowly, but efficiently, shuffled a deck of beat-up, grimy cards, glancing around at anyone who might be passing by. Next to him he had a small dented tin cup, in which he placed a couple of his own coins. There was also a button and old mint that strangers had tossed in. This might not be the most attractive part of Lodan, or the safest, but Jak never really spent time in the safe places. This was his home for many years before he joined MI, and this place, dismal as it may be, held a special place in his heart. It was also somewhere he could blend in, without anyone noticing him, and where he could make a tiny amount of coin, without having to go on errands or missions. Jak loudly flipped through the cards, then made them seemingly leap from his right hand to his left, then back, and fanned them out so they appeared to spin around his thumb, then flicked them all back into a semi-neat stack. He sighed and leaned back against the wall.

Having been in Lodan for some days, it felt Kalum and Alice hadn't had the chance to explore the city together and so it was his belief that perhaps it was time to try. The first district they'd come into contact with was the slums as they had already seen the merchant's district. Above them Caracalla circled about though did little of anything else. "I guess you heard about the curfew and all of that? I think I can manage to get you out and about sometime but I do not think it will be as glorious since most everything will be closed," he spoke up and glanced back at Alice until a sight of another on the ground caught his attention. The way the beggar handled the cards was rather impressive but made him a touch wary. However, he did stop to rummage into a pocket for any coin he might have had. Finding one, he grabbed hold of the string of his bow then squatted to drop the coin in the mug with the others before rising once more.
The rough banging thumps where followed by the rattle of the mans shoe. Uriah stood there close to a wall essentially trying to scrape any garbage that managed to stick itself to the bottom of his shoe. It wasn't often quite that often that he found himself in this part of the time unless there was an outlandish job that he was offered that had more of a payout or connection that he could use in the near future but for today he simply felt like having his sea legs removed. Having spent some time with the Queen of Rogues perhaps now it was the best time just to rest and attempt to enjoy living not on a boat, even just thinking about the ship made him a little nauseous. Who could live that kind of life? On a boat all the time with a bunch of smell and over worked individuals and not to sound like he wasn't grateful overall for the chance but it wasn't exactly where he saw himself in five years and putting it on his resume could be difficult.
None the less the man began to continue forward as he peered around at the different locations and buildings in the area in which a lot of them just seemed dank, ruined , but somehow still overall livable. His nomadic eyes not staying in a single spot for a prolonged period of time before coming across a coarse man sitting down on the ground playing with his cards, which he seemed to have a little bit of a knack for. Perhaps even enough to work at the casino in the Theater District if he could get a good scrubbing and possibly a fine pressed suit he could do fine. Walking in his direction he stopped in front of him and peered into his cup of random tips and oddities before bending his knee's and propping himself upon the tip of his toes to at least share a similar height with the man. "Afternoon there, got any other amusing tricks you can do?" After he finished speaking he tossed a few coins into the can to perhaps persuade the individual into a small conversation.
While he kept a majority of his attention was focused on the boy he couldn't help but notice large bird that just circled the area and perhaps the individual that didn't seem to fit in almost as much as he did. Even then there was much more about him that stuck him out from the public such as the bow he seemed to carry around.

"It won't be too bad I don't think. You need to catch the escaped prisoner. What'd he do, anyways? To get locked up." Alice looked at Jak and his cardwork before crouching down and resting her hands on her knees. "How'd you do that?"
Alice watched the tricks with rapt attention and didn't budge after Kalum stood up. She didn't notice or didn't pay attention to the other man that walked up. It was hard to tell. Allice shuffled a little closer to Jak to watch the cards more closely and let ot a small hrmmm. "How long did it take you to figure this out?"

Jak smiled and nodded at the tall man with the bow as he heard the clink of a few coins drop into his cup, and then grinned broadly as the young girl approached him. "This?" Jak flourished the cards and shrugged. "Been fooling 'round with cards since I were a lad." He glanced up at the next man to walk past. None of these people seemed the standard type that would travel within the slums, and Jak's guard immediately went up. Best keep the tricks on the down-low, wouldn't want them to appear like real magic, now. "O'course." He answered the green-eyed man, slyly smiling up from under his hat. "Pick a card. You can too, missy." he casually held the deck out in front of himself and leaned forward on his toes.

Kalum stood idly by while his sister remained squatted and conversed with the seated fellow. However, upon the approach of another, the raven haired man lifted his gaze to eye the newcomer before allowing his attention to be shifted back down to the cards. At the proposition of a magic trick to be done, Kalum's interests were piqued and he took several steps to the side to allow room for Alice and the other stranger so he may simply watch.
Uriah reached forward and chuckled lightly as he pulled a random card from the deck and took a quick look at it for himself. Two of Diamonds, well it wasn't a special or unique card but it would be quite interesting none the less if the man was able to do something impressive with what seemed like a basic card. Keeping it from the Jak's eyes was the most important thing while his own gaze moved over in an attempt to see what the female might of drawn from the deck if she was willing to participate.

Alice thought for a moment and ran her fingers up and down the cards for a moment before taking the very top card. Queen of Spades. She nodded before showing it to the other gentleman to serve as witness. "Remember this, please?" She turned back to Jak and watched his fingers as closely as she could.

Jak continued grinning. "Now if you both would kindly return those to the deck." He flourished the cards in a ribbon spread in front of him and waited until they had both done so, and began shuffling by separating small chunks of the deck with one hand, rotating them between his fingers, flipping them around and back into the deck in his other palm in a 'Sybil Cut'. While doing so, seemingly without looking, he addressed the group as a whole. "So what's a lot like you doing here in the hovel? Doesn't look like you belong in a place like this, like the rest of us have-nots, rapscallions n' renegades." he chuckled, and slapped the cards down in from of him, spreading them out, all face up. He lifted his hands up and wiggled his fingers. "Nothin' up my sleeves as you see," he tugged his cuffs, "yer cards are out in front of me there. And..." he motioned to them and then frowned, and hovered his hands over the cards, moving back and forth along them. "Missy, your card is....a black'n. Spades? Yes. A royal, too. A Queen?" His hand stopped over her card. "Queen o' Spades." he smirked and flicked up the card into his fingers. "And you." he turned to Uriah, "Yours is a red. I sense it's a....number, small one. Perhaps a two or a three.....yeh, a three. No-" he cocked his head, "A two. Of...Diamonds." He slid his card out from behind the other and stared at them seriously for a moment without blinking, then his face cracked into a broad grin, and he tipped his head in a mock bow.
Keeping his attention on the man Uriah stood with his arms crossed as his card was taken away and chuckled back into the deck, watching the hands of the man move while cutting the cards. His gaze moving slightly while he was being spoken too , thinking this was perhaps part of the trick at this point it didn't matter as Uriah had lost sight or where the cards might of been and even being distracted at this point wouldn't change the outcome of what was to happen. though he chuckled at the mans words as he asked them. "Rapscallions n' renegades huh? Doesn't sound like something you'd like to say openly. Though my free time brought me for a walk on through here, in which it seems there is talent not in the theater district to be found." Complimenting Jak's card show it was only a matter of time before he continued on.
Looking as he tugged on his cuffs, a classic performer gag to insure there was no strange tricks well up his sleeves and as he began to guess the cards the man kept a straight face to give no hint to see if he was actually right or wrong till the end of the show. Though as the cards were stated the man only started to clap and nod his head in acknowledgement. "Impressive there sir, seems like you've had quite the time to practice. Ever think of joining the entertainment industry?" He questioned playfully not actually expecting the man to actually respond to such a thing before looking around at the other two nearby.

"My sister and I are new to the city so we thought to look at all it had to offer. This was next on our list," he offered to Jak as explanation as to what they were doing within such a place. With mild interest he watched as the two picked their cards then returned them in and then how the lad with the scar through his eyes dealt them back in. A soft grunt left him when he accurately described his sister's card and the gentlemen's as well. By what sorcery was this? There were simple magic tricks and then there was magic. Not knowing if if one was the other caused him discomfort though he kept silent. After all, this was likely nothing more than harmless magic tricks.
Alice looked a Jakobi with nothing but a grin plastered on her face. "That was amazing! How'd you do that?" Alice rocked back on her heels and tilted her head. "Well, we came to the city for two reasons. Kalum's got a new job in the city, and I'm trying to learn more about robotics. Make something that really has some pop! You know?" Alice looked from Jakobi to Uriah, then back to Jak and grinned. "Do you know anymore tricks, Mister?"
