Things were getting messy. Too messy. Caitlin had reached a point where she didn't know where that line was between good and bad, everything had somehow turned into the inbetween... all grey area with no defined sides. The assassines were the enemies, and she was just as eager to put them to the blade as her friend Sarah was, but Cait had no idea so many of the people she knew and adored were a part of that guild. And the worst bit of all; the realization that while one of her men were being slaughtered, she was in the Queens garden kissing the enemy. It was too much to puzzle apart and she needed council with her king. That is why she was headed to his ship, the Guild leaders Airship. He had offered an open-door policy if she ever needed him and now was the one time she was willing to cash in on that policy. She didn't plan on telling him everything... certainly not the kiss part, but she needed her prioritys recalibrated and soon... before she, or Sarah either killed in anger, or got killed in a collosal mess of confusion, like they almost had earlier this morning.
JACK: Lex Tightened his Belt and let the flowing blouse cover his metal chestplate, under normal conditions he wouldn't even been wearing armor, But this was his assignment: to infiltrate the Irondread. He pulled his hair out of a ponytail and strapped a bandana over his head, he undid his Bootstraps and put the black wax he had gotten from the mechanic on his teeth, he quickly check his image in front of a mirror, and smiled, He strapped the crew member he had knocked out to a barrel and tossed him overboard, he stared down and made sure the naked man was alive and well and floating away from the ship, he sat down on a barrel and waited for the ship to arrive at the Irondread's port.
Irondread: Caitlin saw it appear in the fog and float majestically overhead towards the sky harbor as she was leaving the pier of her own waterborn vessel. A fellow pirate, though strangely unfamiliar gave her a smile full of blackened teeth as he too stepped from a ship docked across the pier from hers and made his way inland toward the sky harbor as well. His eyes, she noticed from the occasional glance sideways at the stranger, were facing heavenward, trailing the Irondread to the main tower. She - it would appear - was not the only one seeking admittance to the head of the fleet. This made her strangely uncomfortable, as if just by walking side-by-side the other pirate could divine her thoughts and know her secrets. Pirate Lex: As the Ship pulled in, Lex could see the Irondread’s horrible shadow cast overtop the sea vessel he was on, he quickly crossed the deck of the ship and hopped across the Plank that led to the pier, from there he would wait in line to get onto the Irondread. He saw Cait in the corner of his eye but tried not to draw attention to himself. He dropped behind the crowd out of her sight, but still remaining close enough not to blow his cover, his mission stated clearly that he was not allowed to start a fight. And for good reason, If anyone were to find out he was an assassin before he even boarded the Irondread, he’d be dead before ever seeing the inside. He followed close behind andtried to remain out of sight of Cait.
Caitlin: The ship had docked and the crew was unloading crates on the tower. She slipped between the busily unpacking harbor workers and jumped on the rotten wood pallet that was rigged to some hawser ropes that ran through some thickly greased pulleys at the top. The ropes were coated in a thick layer of dried and crusted grease from seasons past, covered by a think layer of new and wet grease from this weeks ration on the pulley wheels that the ropes ran through. Most of the lifts riders had a hand loosely on the ropes for security, letting it run across their palm and filthy their hands. They weren't holding tight enough to give themselves rope-burn, but they did touch it quite enough for peace of mind, never minding the lack of cleanliness. Cait resisted the urge to do the same with little struggle. She turned her nose up at the disgusting notion and tucked her hands into the folds of her skirt. Someone bumped into her just as the pallet began to rise up the sky tower, and she turned to see the same blackened tooth pirate from the pier. Closer up, she realized he seemed way more familiar than she had first presumed. By the time the lift reached the top of the tower, she was still trying to place him in her mind, and divine just where exactly she recognized him from.
<JackTheXIV> Pirate Lex: Pulled away from the pirate and the lift, The irondread was taking up pirates into it, He jumped in the crowd, and while no one was looking, jumped off the side of the plank, ahead pirates were being asked questions, He slipped into the underbelly of the Irondread jumping on, and quickly blending in with the crowd, from what he had remmebered of the Map, the Captain's quarters shoule be in the bridge, he made his way deeper into the giant floating Castle...
<Comical1> Cait: she was almost ready to let the whole thought go, until she noticed the strange behavior of this semi-familiar pirate. Curiosity replacing her own warring thoughts, she quietly followed the crafty pirate into the underbelly of the sky-ship and throw the engineering spaces in the very bottom of the interior spaces. The more she saw, the more puzzled she felt, a weird sense of de ja vous telling her this pirate was someone she should remember... somehow though, the more she thought of places she knew pirates from, the less likely she could imagine his face in any of them.
<JackTheXIV> Lex: nodded to a few pirates as he made his way through the giant hallways, he turned around every so often to make sure no one had followed him, as he arrived at the Captain's quarters he stuck a small lockpick into the door and slipped in, shutting the door behind him and locking it,
<Comical1> "now what could that sneaky little critter be doin in the capt' cabin I wonder," she whispered to herself as she tiptoed to the door. Carefully she placed a hand on the knob and turned-- only to feel the door knob resist the motion. "Locked?!" she hissed. Well that wont do, she thought in frustration. She tried to peer through the oval door glass on the Pirate Kings private quarters door, but it was the sort of glass that is made all smokey from the start and hard to peer through. Her brows lowered angrily over her eyes and suddenly the memory clicked into place at last. The foggy glass triggering the mirror of three foggy shotglasses lined up on the bar, and in front of each glass stood Caitlin, Faye, and her other new acquaintance, Letter.... THAT was no pirate inside, and the day they met at the bar was not the last time she'd seen him. Frantically she raced to a porthole in the exterior wall of the ship; recalling the blood-boiling memory of just this morning when she and Sarah had stood in a bakery, swords out, and facing off with non other than three assassins! One of which, to her heartbreaking dispair, had been Frees. No time to cry about it now, she thought firmly. Caitlin didn't care if it made her look like a loon, she stuck her head out the porthole and peered left. "There it is," she beamed in self satisfaction. Not but a few feet away was a second porthole, leading to the captains cabin. Looking down, Cait saw a deadly drop thousands of feet below. She pulled her head out of the porthole. "Is it worth this?!" she asked outloud. A passing deckhand paused in his swabbing to give her a look that said "Talking to youself is the first sign of crazy, ma'am," before he continued his work... further away from her. "Bloody hell," she cursed, then - took a deep breath - and poked both arms and her head back out of the hole. Wiggling her body so that she had levered herself up on her thighs, she spun around to sit in the "windowsill" so she could stretch her arm as far left as possible and try to reach the other window.
<JackTheXIV> Lex: He shuffled through the captains logs trying to find the exact date of the pirate's death. somehow there seemed to be MORE information than he needed, He read through as fast as he could, but the strange sounds of insect legs on wooden floor caught his ear, "figures" he muttered to himself, He grabbed all the papers and shoved them into his chest piece. he turned around to see what else he could steal from the captain's quarters. he moved towards the door to make his escape but a sudden pain Shot up the back of his leg. He let out a grunt as he tripped over knocking down a few papersas he fell to the ground, He sat up and looked to the ground and saw a small scorpion-like creature duck into the shadows, Lex stood up almost aas though nothing had happened but he pieced together that he might have contracted some kind of poison, at that moment there was a scratching sound at the window, lex's mind told him he was not allowed to start a fight, His mission stated clearly that he wasn't allowed to kill anyone otherwise his mission was a failure. he leaned over and flipped open the window as he drew his short sword from it's pirate holster
<Comical1> Caitlin: She exhaled a heavy breath as her fingertips grasped the port hole window pane. Strength, however, was not her greatest asset, so silently hefting herself through the opening was simply asking TOO much. She hefted and grunted her way up the side of the ship, not daring to look down agian, till she had her upper body sticking into the cabin through the window. Quickly her eyes darted around for the impersonator, but she didn't see him in the room. It wasn't until she felt the short sword touch her shoulder that she looked precisely to her right, and there he was- back flattened against the wall next to her. "Oaff," she huffed as she allowed herself to fall swift and ungracefully to the floor. She wasted no time shuffling away from the man with the weapon within reach of her personage.
<JackTheXIV> Lex: Grabbed her and pulled her into the cabin, his sword drawn, Sweat could be seen on his forhead as he pointed his sword at her, "Wait" he managed to speak.
<Comical1> Caitlin: Why was he sweating? Cait thought. She was still crabwalking backwards away from him when he held out his sword hand and said "wait". She could see sweat making his shirt stick everywhere except on his chest, which she could now see was because there was some sort of chestplate underneath it. His face looked a little off color too. Caitlin paused her backwards crawl, and while she watched him for his next move, she slowly inched her sword from the swordbelt touching the floor behind her back, where he wouldn't see it. "You're no pirate," she accused him bluntly.
<JackTheXIV> Lex? he coughed a spurt of blood, and swung his sword widely, it barely reached the tip of her nose, she jumped back dodging the blade. But he followed up with a blind Backwards kick, to her stomache, he fell over, onto the Captains desk, and flopped to the floor.
<Comical1> Caitlin: "Eeck!" getting kicked in the stomach did NOT feel good. She stumbled back a little more, then lumbered to her feet as Letter fell to the floor. "I do remember you, and I DO know what you are," she told him vehemently. "Assassin, you are not welcome here," at this moment she pulled her sword in front of her body and used the tip of it to knock his blade out of his reach. Before she could make a second swing with the blade her eyes caught sight of a small creature scurrying across the floor. "Eieee!" she shrieked involuntarily and jumped up on the captains desk chair to get her feet off the floor.
<JackTheXIV> Poisoned Lex "I don't want to fight you, I'm afraid I've been poisoned..." Is what he would have said if he wasn't poisoned "I Don't need an education to teach these kids magic" was what he actually said, his eyes were a smokey red colour and sweat covered his face, his sickly ghastly look. he took another swipe at her legs...
<Comical1> Caitlin: She tilted her head sideways and stopped panicking over the creepy-crawly on the floor when she heard Letters ridiculous remark. "Magic?" she questioned, but then she mentally smacked herself in the face, of course! why didn't she think of this before? She held out her free hand and summoned up an electromagnetic charge. When she felt enough static clinging to her hand, she cast "Shield of Protection" spell and watched with never-dull awe as a bolt of lightning struck through the porthole and hit the ground between the two of them. This flash of light spread like a dome over her and Letter, forcing the scorpion out of its sphere.
<JackTheXIV> Poisoned Lex "I'm afraid poison doesn't work like that, Please forgive me" He tried to manage but the poison took e ffect "You're not supposed to move when i attack!" he sliced through the electric wave, catching Cait's blade and knocking her off of the desk. he then flipped the sword into his other hand, very.... well less than graceful. he spit out a little more blood.
<Comical1> Caitlin: "Bloody Hell," she cringed as she lost her sword, now with mr. bloody spittle carrying both blades, she had only one option left... Run, and hope he follows her to a more open bay. So she did, she ran without looking back, up to the flight deck and hoped his aggression-amped imposter self would follow.
<JackTheXIV> Poisonous Lex He Jumped to the challenge of a race, He slashed high trying to take off her head, but she kept her head down as she ran through the doorway and up the stairs, He raced after her sliding past another pirate who he knocked over, blood dripping from his jaws, he skipped a few steps and reached the top stair staring intensely at Cait.
<Comical1> Caitlin: She backed up all the way to the rail, her eyes on her opponent, but for a brief moment she looked down at the empty air behind her and saw... another ship, docked at the next pier down! A crazy idea sprung to her head, if she could get this imposter off of the fleet's head ship, she would be doing her guild a world of good. if she could throw him off that would be even better. "Oh Letter dearest, you wanna play trading punches?! Come and get me!" she screamed, holding her arms open wait and baiting him like a bull in a Spanish arena.
<JackTheXIV> Poisoned lex: That is probably the worst excuse for a trap I've ever seen, No way I'd Fall for that! he splurt out a bit of Blood as he muttered some unintelligible sentence and swung wildy at her, he dropped a sword upon contact, and pinned her against the rail, his hand gripped her neck.
<Comical1> Caitlin: Her eyes widened in surprise at the speed he rushed her with, but she was silently thankful he dropped the sword before gripping the back of her neck like a stray cat. She caught the sword, albeit in an awkward grip, and her teeth clenched when he pulled her up by the back of her neck and shook her a bit in his maddened craze. His face was so clamy and sweaty that drops of it blew from his forehead and landed on her face. She frowned, but forced out the words "Good lad," before wrapping her free hand around his waist and kicking both of his shins with her dangling feet - forcing herself to balance all of her weight on the railing like a teeter-tatter before pulling them both top-heavy backwards and holding her breath as they sailed, free falling for the deck of the ship below.
<JackTheXIV> Poisoned Lex The air brushed through his hair as he attempted to attack her in blind rage, Lex's Mind fully aware of what was happening but in no position to control his body, started to Cheer For cait, as long as she didn't Kill Him, and Kept him away from other Pirates, he would survive...
<Comical1> Caitlin: She tried to flip over in midair, but discovered it was a slow rolling process while freefalling to ones doom. Lex, it appeared had been thrown farther out from their original position than she had been, and he would most certainly land on the hard wood weather decks of the other skyship. Her landing, on the other hand, looked like it would be more of a gamble. Her heart squeezed fearfully into her throat at the possibility of falling thousands of feet to her death on the ground at the base of the tower. In the blink of an eye she was passing by the side of the ship, just out of reach. A sob bubbled out of her throat but then she remembered the sword - her sword that Lex had taken and subsequently dropped - was still in her hand. She thrust out with it and it pegged the hull of the ship. Cait sprung up and down from the hilt like a kid on a diving board before getting both hands on the sword and pulling herself up to the rail. Her arms were weak and fatigued and she wouldn't have the strength to manage, but one of her pirate brothers had glanced over the side to witness her fate and with circumstances being as they were, he offered her a hand back onto level ground.
<JackTheXIV> Poisoned Lex he fell away from her and sped down he could see the appraoching deck of the ship, he closed his eyes and prepared for the Worst, but to his luck there was a rope, his body caught a heaping ton of rope and he rolled through it entangling himself and flipping and hurling until he was a few feet from theshiny polished deck floor, the Sails were in disrepair, but lex hadn't been hurt, He hung upside down with his head a few feet from the deck, he coughed some blood, and took a deep inhalation, he felt a bit of Consciousness flow back into him, He must have been in the process of Sweating and bleeding the Poison out of his system... Some Colour returned to the murky redness of his eyes...
<Comical1> Caitlin: "Thank you dear," she said with a smile once she'd been lifted onto the weather deck. As soon as he'd grasped her arm, she'd yanked her sword free with the other hand and been hoisted up. Not wasting any time with plesantries, she searched the deck for one very out of place newcomer. She didn't have to look far. There he was, hanging in the rigging. "I should leave you there till all the blood rushes to your head and it explodes," she told him. She waited for his eyes to focus on her so she knew he was listening. "But that wouldn't be much fun for me, now would it?" She pulled back her sword arm and swung it in a big swipe to cut down the ropes. The sailors behind her complained that she was costing them more work, but she ignored them. She had a score to settle.
<JackTheXIV> Poisonedlex He crumpled to the floor, getting all the feeling in his body back, he rolled onto his stomache and let out one last spit of poison, It was a chunk of Black blood, that had seemed to coagulate, He felt himself Shiver and slip out of consciousness for a second, She seemed to be talking to him but he could barely hear her, he searched around the mess of ropes and blood for his sword, someone was approaching, a different pirate shouting and complaining about the mess..
<Comical1> Caitlin: "Get. Up." she said to Letter as he lay on his belly like a bookworm in front of the hearth. She stuck her blade under his chin, and rotated it so that the sharp edge nicked his skin. "I'm not known for my patience," she warned.
<JackTheXIV> Sobering up Lex The blade tickled the skin like a familiar friend he attempted to make a whitty remark about her known abouts but was quickly quieted by the dried blood in his own throat, he started coughing, cutting himself on the sword, and pulling away, Another pirate stepped forward shouting at Cait "Be careful! Don't kill him, We'll take him to..." he was cut off by lex who jumped from the Rope mess and grabbed the speaking pirate by the waist ripping his sword away from him, and dropping him unto the lower decks, he turned quickly raising his blade to Cait.
<Comical1> Caitlin: watched as the pirates trousers dropped around his feet and noted his curtain-pink polka dotted long johns before hearing the sound of a blade being pulled free of its sheath. Her eyes darted to Letter and she smiled with one corner of her mouth. "It'll be much much more fun this way m'friend," she promised, then swung hard at him.
<JackTheXIV> Drained Lex He deflected with ease however he had overestimated his own strength, He ahd lost a lot fo blood and sweat he was very dehydrated as such his Balance was off. He took another swipe at her and backed off grabbing another pirate and throwing him at her, He slipped away from them, he could now feel his body aching, but this was no time to lose one's cool, He Cast Harm at her.
<Comical1> Caitlin: She brought up her sword to parry Letter's strike, but he stumbled back a few steps off balance and there was no need. Instead she marched forward to follow him but she ended up running smack into the pirate he tossed at her. She pushed the pirate out of her way just in time to be struck with Letter's spell. She coughed and doubled over instantly. What happened to her protection spell?? Oh, she forgot, she jumped the ship that it was cast on. Bloody - hell. "You, - cough/hack, Prick!" she shrieked, She looked up at him backing farther away. In her peripheral she noticed movement, and spotted a cannonball rolling away from the sailor who was responsible for stacking them. Bingo- she thought, but first things first, she held out her hand again and waited for that electric charge. Thunder rolled overhead and a cloud malted a darker shade before striking lightening where she was kneeling. A shield expanded from it around her body. It wouldn't stop the harm that had already been done, but it might be useful for future incidents. Cait struggled to her feet and leaned into each step over to the cannon. "this is more like it," she whispered, her throat feeling suddenly hoarse.
<JackTheXIV> Bloodletter He felt his strength Rush back to him with that spell casted, He spit the last bit of blood from his throat and Jumped deeper into the SHip, He threw the rsuted blade aside, Digging into his chestplate he still had the papers, He ripped off the BLoody blouse and Grabbed a sailors coat, He knew she would be right behind him, He took off into the Cargo storage, And stopped shocked at what was in there... Barrels filled with gunpowder, he turned to leave this giant coffin but was attacked by the other pirate, Lex was knocked over onto a barrel knocking it over and spilling it's contents...
<Comical1> Caitlin: "Help me with this," she hissed at the nearest deckhand. together they wheeled the cannon to the deck hatch leading to where Letter had run off. Once she stopped the movements and loaded a ball into the barrel, the pirate beside her spoke up in alarm, "Miss, I don't think this is a good idea-" "Oh shut up please, that man down there is an ASSASSIN!" she screamed, never pausing in her progress. She finished loading the ball and she pushed the still alarmed and babbling pirate aside. He said something about gunpowder, which only made her check the flute to be sure there was enough in the cannon. There was, so she tuned him out the rest of the way. Flicking the mechanism at the back of the weapon, she set off a chain reaction of spinning gears and sparking metals which would light the fuse and fire the cannon into the body of the vessel.
<JackTheXIV> Bloodletter He shoved the Pirate off of him, and ran to the stairs from the lower deck, he hopped up each on and kicked open the door to the upper deck, He paused for a moment and stared unsure if he was truly seeing this..
<Comical1> Caitlin: she was smugly pleased to she Letters expression of complete disbelief as he came face to face with her cannon blocking the exit. She gave a dainty wave and a wink then shouted, "FIRE IN THE HOLE!" sticking her fingers in her ears for dramatic effect.
<JackTheXIV> Bloodletter He Jumped back down the Steps as the cannonball ripped the frontside deck to pieces, He ran down into the cargoarea, the pirate gave him a frightened look, Lex returned it back at him, they both ran as fast as the could through the Cargo, there was a small porthole on the other side the Pirate jumped to it, Lex Gave him a hand, pushing him through, but as he went to put himself through the pirate Kicked him in the head Lex fell back onto his back, a black bruise Covered His right eye, The pirate looked at him sorrowfully, "I'm sorry but You're an assassin!" and with that he disappeared, Bloodletter got back on his feet, only to beknocked down by a barrel exploding near the entrance setting off another and another, He grabbed the edge of the porthole
<Comical1> Caitlin: "ALL HANDS: ABANDON SHIP!!!" she shouted, as she ran with the rest of the crew to the quarterdeck and across the ramp. The ship shook with another explosion. She didn't understand what was happening, she only loaded the cannon with one ball, but the whole ship was exploding.
