Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Taking a seat next to her he looked down at the paper in front of them. “So uh, do you know cartography? Because I don’t. I only know how to read maps,” he admitted, scratching the back of his head. If there was ever a time to learn how to draw a map, it would be now. And he was sure one of the many books in here described the practice. Finding it would be something else.

Though the sun was still high in the sky, the woods outside of Lodan were as dark as ever. Danny moved through them with the assurance of someone who knew it intimately and was all too aware of the dangers hiding in the shadows. She drew near her little hidden kingdom and walked to the doors. The same as they were when she had first seen them... The same as they'd always be. She pushed them open and entered the building before closing once more. Danny moved through the labyrinthian halls quickly. She needed to know what had happened while she was gone. She needed to know if anything had changed. The girl made her way to the library before pushing the door open as she unwound her dingy green scarf from her neck.
"Well... it's good that we're not dead yet." Danny walked across the breadth of the room to an empty chair opposite the doorway she'd entered and set the scarf across its back. She took off her tattered and over-sized coat before setting it in the seat along with her goggles, which had a shattered lens, and her cap from which tumbled white-blonde hair down to the center of her back. What was once a white workman's shirt was now stained an unsightly brown color. Danny turned back to look at Lasair and Claire and studied the two with a cocked eyebrow.

"Cartography? Nn-" When the door to Library opened her eyes darted up. In walked Danny and Clairee jumped to her feet. "What happened to you--" her voice trailed off to a whisper. Danny was filthy. Then, as if he realized it, he started unwinding the extra layers and shedding them like a cocoon. It was one thing to take off the scarf, but to remove hat and let long tresses of blonde hair flow out, seemingly in slow motion, and take off the coat and goggles to reveal a girlish figure in brown-stained workmans clothes. Her. Jaw. Dropped.
"No....... No, no that doesn't make any sense, Danny you're a boy." She was in denial.

Lasair only watched as the guild leader Danny seemed to materialize out of thin air. Not seeing him since the trial, surprised was the only thing on the red head’s face. So when he saw Danny reveal a feminine figure underneath the layers of clothes, surprised could no longer describe the feeling.
But, lady or not, it didn’t change the fact that Danny had returned. Standing up now, Lasair took a short bow to the leader and smiled. “Welcome back.”

Danny looked at Claire with a sardonic grin. "I am, am I? Wish somebody'd told me earlier." Danny pushed her filthy hair out of her face and gave the two a more friendly smile. "Thanks Lassy. Don' let me in'erupt the two'a ya. What're ya workin' on righ' now?" Danny walked over to the two, preceded by a wave of foul odors. Living deep in the woods for a couple months will do that to someone. "Fill me in. What's goin' on?"

Whew, that was a strong stench. Clair leaned back re-actively, and pushed the page forward to the other side of the desk closest to Danny's approach. "We're trying to map the MI HQ, just something to keep in here so we can wrap our brains around how big this place is, and such." She tried not to breathe in too deeply. Still, she stared wide eyed at the transformation. How had she mistaken Danny for a boy all this time?

“Earlier, Clair was telling me about the history of the guild. There was a lot I didn’t know,” he added, pretending not to notice the smell Danny brought in with her. It was some kind of mixture of forest, blood, body odor, and something else too. Wherever she had been, it wasn’t in the lap of luxury.
A moment later, Lasair realized that Danny had just called him Lassy. The only other person to do that had been a girl in a skull mask at the Leland boy’s wedding. Were they the same person? After this transformation, Lasair wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest. He had promised that person a date. Was it against the rules to date the guild leader? Even if there was a law against it, he wouldn’t mind bending the rules.

Danny nodded slowly as they both spoke before continuing. "There's alot most of us don't know. But a maps a good start." Danny scratched her nose before continuing. "I hope you don't mind if I watch. I need to get caught up on what's been happening in the city, and you two will can fill me in while you work." Danny reached into her pocket for an apple candy then stopped. They were all gone and had been for some time. She'd need to get more of those... "So where are we starting?"

Clair rubbed her palms on her clothes. "Oh, uh that's fine and everything, but it wont be anything fancy, 'm no cartographer. I was just going to sketch some outlines is all. then label the spaces, simple really". Suddenly - she was out of her league. Here was little miss clair, in the room with the two leaders of her guild. She felt about as big as a potato bug.

“Let’s start with mapping the library out. How big is this room anyway?” He looked up and around the room, realizing he hadn’t actually explored it fully. Standing up, he walked to the back wall and looked around, trying to see just how far the walls reached on each side. The ceilings were overly tall in this room too, but it made sense with the bookcases reaching so far up. It felt odd knowing that several moments ago he had been up there in the rafters. But that time felt ages away already. Funny how the entrance of a guild leader could do that to you....

"It don' take much ta make a good map. Jus' some legible writin', an accurate scale, an' proper placement'a obstacles an' landmarks. Gotta make sure ya got the orientation righ', then it's easy. Figure out which ways north first, an' work from there." Danny looked around the room and let out a small huff. "Well, it ain' small if that's what yer thinkin'. Figure ya can start by makin' a scale an' figurin' out how yer gonna measure a space." She looked back at the two before shoving her hands into her pockets and waiting.
"Oh, right, a scale, makes sense." She paused. She didn't have any instruments to measure with. "How about in strides? twenty strides is an inch? maybe?" She was asking, Danny sounded like he---she was an expert at this sort of thing, so Clairee wanted her nod of approval before she started walking around the room, counting strides.

“How’d you learn how to make a map?” he asked casually, walking back to the duo. “Also I believe this way is north, if you want to mark the compass.” He pointed to the side, which was conveniently the way Clairee was facing. Should make drawing the map easier.

"Ya think I go rompin' in the woods fer nothin'? I got a job ta do, an' I needa know the layout'a the forest while I'm doin' it." Danny snuffed her nose before continuing. "Ya can' make it footsteps. Yer steps're bigger'n mine. 'ow big's yer foot?" Danny looked down at Claire's feet and waited for the reply.
CLairee pulled her feet back behind the desk, feeling foolish for some reason after she did it. She had nothing to hide. Clearing her throat she stepped back out and showed her feet. "Average I guess, not so big, but not real small either. Shoe Cobbler says about a six by his measurements?" It had been a while since she'd had new shoes made. Her toes were kind of squished in the old ones she had, but she'd never complain.
