Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Flipping a few more pages into the book, Max stopped to look at a picture or two before continuing on. Finally, she was satisfied with all the images she saw and closed the book, handing it back to Elaine. “Thank you for letting me see,” she said to the other guild member. She had no need to keep any of the pictures, but they were interesting to look at. “How long have you been drawing?”

"Your very welcome!" The girl happily took the book back into her hands and flipped it over. "I've probably been drawing since I was little. The first instance I remember was when I was five, my mother had given me some paint and let me sit in the floor with a few brushes and some paper. I guess I was fascinated ever since." Elaine took the book back and brushed its leather cover with her fingers. "What do you do for fun?" She asked noting how she always turned to her musical or artistic side for entertainment.
Blinking a few times, Max raked her brain for an idea of what one would call “fun” that she did in her life. Killing wasn’t exactly enjoyable or unenjoyable; it was just something that had to be done at times. Robbing was done out of necessity. The only other thing she did was wander around the city, which could be considered fun by some points of view. “I walk around Lodan a lot. I know my way around, where all the shops are and all that,” she answered, giving Elaine the opportunity to ask something in reply before she said anymore.

"That must come in handy sometimes." Elaine said shifting her book's papers around after getting poked by a few corners. She got lost in thought for a moment as she realized she hadn't taken many jobs since she joined the guild. Was that good or bad? Shaking the thought away she brightened up again. "Hey, you should come by my parent's shop sometime. It would be nice to see someone who hasn't known me from the day I was born." Elaine rolled her eyes dramatically.
“What kind of shop do your parents run?” the rogue asked. She would need to know that before setting foot anywhere near a shop. There was one kind of shop that she had to always avoid. But if it was a nice shop like a bakery or weapons shop, she wouldn’t mind looking around for a while.

"A small bookstore. My father brought it right after he married my mother as a wedding gift to her." Elaine recalled the story her father had told her when she was little. "It's a nice little place, Mum usually brings out coffee for customers." It also doubled as their home. "Mum and Dad would be delighted to meet someone from the Theater District. Since they don't go there often and that's usually where I am all the time. They don't really have eyes and ears on my every move there. Even though that isn't the reason I chose to go there." Elaine shifted on her feet. She was getting used to coming home and her parents asking about her day instead of already knowing it. It benefited both sides.

Maeve was in a right sour mood. He change of clothes, the "inconspicious ones" she liked to wear when she wasn't busy being a famous stage performer, somehow had gotten pitched in the garbage at work and taken out without so much as an "do you still need this?". So here she was, tromping through the hovel in her sparkly studded black and white one piece. With matching top hat. Which she was busy pommeling with one fist while she held the brim in the other.
"Bloody great. Just what I need, to be in the likes o' this side uh town in these ... shiny... things," she scoffed. Maybe it really was time for her to get a room in the district, above the theater like everyone else. But she just hated to think of giving up her grandfathers place in the hovel. She wasn't the sentemental sort- but deep down she treasured his memory. He was the only family she had, after her mother abandoned her to start over with the Donya farmer, and their spawn, Clairee.
Voices caught her ear and she snapped her eyes up to the two approaching her path. With a wide sweep she scanned them to decide if they were dangerous or not. One was covered in colorful smut of some sort, the other, a shorty from her own guild if she remembered correctly. "Pardon." she said gruffly, tapping the hat against her thigh in a nervous-I'm-embarassed-to-be-seen-in-these-girly-clothes kind of way
“It sounds like a nice shop,” Max said plainly. “I wouldn’t mind visiting,” she added in a lighter tone. Looking up, she noticed someone wearing a lot of, well, sparkles. Normally nobody would dare walk around in public like that, but then again, Max had seen people wearing stranger garments. She couldn’t help but keep an eye on the lady as she passed by, but didn’t say a word. She figured the lady probably didn’t want to talk, or if she did, she would address Elaine.

Elaine nodded. She saw the shadow of a new comer and looked up. She was speechless. "Um.... hello." Elaine slowed down managing to find her words and move to the side. Max kept going without a word. A memory flared up in the girls mind about this woman, but in slightly less dashing clothes. "Miss Maeve?!" Elaine asked incredulously. This was the woman who helped Elaine when she nearly got kidnapped in the Theater District. It had been the day she met Stephen and Max as well. Her green eyes scanned the outfit up and down slightly confused. "It's me Elaine Anncroft." She added hoping the name would be enough of an introduction.

Maeves face turned a shade redder at being recognized, and looked at with such a shocked expression. Then she took a good look at the kid staring back. "Well I'll be damned. If it isn't my "little sister"" she recalled. "Staying away from shady characters I hope?" The bug-eyed expression didn't seemed to go away and Mae looked down at her own clothes. "I'm uh, just getting back from work. I told you I had rehearsals and such before, right... well, I'ma, I'ma performer out at the Theater district y'know." She tried to brush off some of the shiny, but of course it didn't go anywhere, it was sewn on.
Max took a step to the side as the two greeted each other. She was never one for talking, after all. A thought occurred to her though when the shiny one, Maeve was her name, mentioned shady characters. Perhaps Max was one such of these characters and perhaps she should leave Elaine alone. But then again, she was in the same guild. Max shifted from foot to foot, unsure of whether she should sneak off now or not.

Elaine shrugged off the surprise with a grin. "Yea, no one has tried to drag me off since. Men must take you seriously." She raised an eye brow at the flashy outfit. "Seems like a fun job. But I don't recall many of the performers taking their work home with them. Trying to make a statement are we?" Elaine stifled an amused chuckle and tried to compose herself. She didn't want to get on Maeve's bad side even though she doubted the woman would take her teasing seriously. Straightening up she cleared her throat lightly. "I don't think I ever got to thank you properly for helping me out. I owe you one, if you ever need help." She didn't take offer like this lightly. She meant what she said. Elaine glanced over her shoulder to see if Max was still there, she had gone so quiet.

Mae shrugged at that, and her eyes darted to the one shrinking away. Funny, she didn't expect anyone to feel intimidated by her in this froo-froo outfit. Made the woman smile, right on cue with Elaine's laughter. "Well good, most guys would remember me from the bars as the one who tosses them out on their arses when they get stupid drunk. Take it from me kid, so long as they think you're my little sister, you're safe. And I prefer NOT to take this line 'o work home with me either.. had to make an exception today. Sade tossed out m'street clothes. Think he did it on purpose." She grumbled the last sentence. It was possible after all. Sade was her stage manager, and he had it in his mind she needed to girlie-up. "No need to run kid," Mae added to Max. "unless you got somethin' to hide."
Shrugging, Max stopped her slinking away. “Wasn’t sure if I should stay,” she said simply. It seemed she was going to tag along with these guild mates for a while.

"Looks like I gotta free pass out of trouble." Elaine grinned. Casting a glance at the sparkles again she couldn't help but smile a little bigger. "Hope you got a spare set at home, hate for you to have your reputation ruined by a top hat and some glitter." Elaine readjusted her daggers with a minute movement. "I assume your headed to your home?" She asked Maeve.
