Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

(Open to everyone)
The sun shown down onto the broken cobblestone street and onto a cropped jacket pulled around a girl. Her hood was up and her hair cascaded down on either side. Elaine was not in the greatest of moods today. She had gotten frustrated trying to draw earlier. So her day so far had been going back and forth between charcoal, paint, and clay with nothing turning out the way she wanted. After the fifteenth time of making her artistic circuit she dropped her paintbrushes on the floor and left. Her hands were covered with splotches of color, an irritating reminder of her issue. She had left on a very, very long walk. She didn't plan to return home until dark. After wandering around the Ports for awhile she made her way to the Hovel. It was the only place where she knew no one would find her unless it was by chance.
Passing a very dented garbage can she heard an unusual scratching noise. Elaine froze in place, eyes flicking towards the can. She turned to investigate and went to open one of the lids. As she did she saw two gleaming black eyes, whiskers, and a long fuzzy body. "What the!" Slamming the lid back down she stood there for a moment holding it in place. Elaine glanced around to see if anyone had heard her. After a few seconds the scratching resumed and she felt it against the side of the metal. She let go of the lid pulling her hand back to her side. Curiosity and confusion written all over her face.
“Careful,” Max said to the other CAEaSL member, who just to happened to be wandering around the district Max called home. “Some animals are meaner than they seem,” the hooded figure continued, walking up to Elaine. Leaning against the nearby wall, the blond decided to watch and see what the other girl would do next.

Elaine jumped when she heard her guildmate. She turned to see Max leaning up against a wall. "I'll definitely be taking that into consideration." She replied. No more opening unusual cans for anything. "I hope weasels are not too vicious." Shaking off the sudden surprise she looked up at Max. "How have you been?" Elaine asked the first thing that came to mind. She pulled her jacket hood down and pushed her hair back over her shoulders.
“I’ve been myself,” Max answered a bit solemnly. She hadn’t expected to be asked that question, despite it being such a common thing. ‘How are you’ wasn’t the sort of thing people usually asked her. Normally Max would have let the conversation simply end there, but she actually felt like trying to be a bit different. “And you?” she finally managed to ask. (so sorry I forgot about this thread)

Elaine smiled when Max returned the phrases of conversation. That wasn't something she usually did around people. "I'm doing well. Had a bit of trouble with paint, but I can fix it later." An irritated look crossed her face. Glancing back at the trashcan as the thing in it shuffled around El pointed forwards. "Do you want to go for a walk? Maybe that way?" 'No more surprises or troublesome events today please!' Elaine thought putting a hand around the back of her neck and letting her arm rest.
Shrugging, Max turned in the direction Elaine pointed in, not minding going on a walk right now. However, she had no idea what to say back to the girl.

The conversation went silent and it didn't bother Elaine. She elongated her steps to catch up with Max and then slowed back down. She took two steps for everybody elses normal gait anyways. "You been having fun? I don't get to see you around the Theater District much. And if your there I probably have my sketchbook in my hands and just don't notice." Elaine grinned and raised her hands in a gesture of more-than-likely.
“I don’t have much of a reason to be there unless I’m working,” Max replied plainly. Her home was in the hovel, after all. Glancing towards the sketchbook in Elaine’s hand, she raised an eyebrow. “What do you draw?” she asked a moment later.

"But don't you ever just go there for fun?" The dark haired girl looked over to Max. Then she turned her sketchbook over in her hands smiling. "I draw anything and everything I can. Somethings take me longer and some I draw off the top of my head." Elaine untied the ribbon binding it and held it out to Max. "You can look if you wish." She had a mix of watercolors, pens, and charcoal in this book. She was well overdue for a new one. Elaine kept stuffing new papers in this one. Many of them sticking out and unattached.
“No, not for fun,” she answered as the book was handed to her. It was obvious that the book had been used quite a lot. Opening it up, she looked through the first couple pages, impressed with what she saw. Closer to the middle she came to a picture she had some trouble identifying. “What’s this?” Max asked and held the page up.

Elaine turned to study the picture. "Oh! That's you in front of the Theater." The sketch was of a woman leaned up against the front of the building, her cloak shielding most of her features. "It was one of the rare times I saw you there, I was across the street at a cafe." She explained. It was a while ago but she had seen Max standing there and thought it would be nice to jot down. Freezing a moment in time on a piece of paper.
“How’d you know it was me?” Max asked, studying the figure in the drawing more closely now. She remembered that day, however she did not remember why she had been standing outside the guild. There was something about the picture she liked, but she couldn’t put into words just what it was.

The ander girl laughed. "I know it's your because your the only person to wear that cloak of yours all the time." Elaine poked at the infamous cloak she was referring to. Max was always wearing it. "I don't think I've ever seen you wear anything else." She herself had a mildly diverse closet but she liked to stick to her usual style. "You were just standing there looking out at people as they passed by." Elaine folded her fingers together and stretched her arms upwards, lengthening her back and loosening the muscles.
“This is actually a different cloak from the one I was wearing when you drew this. Same material, but a different cloak.” Max replied a bit absent-mindedly. It was true that she did always wear a cloak, but she replaced it as soon as it got damaged or worn down. If anything, she was always wearing a new cloak. It was good that Elaine hadn’t noticed that, as it was one of the things Max usually tried to keep hidden. “Have you drawn me any other times?” she asked curiously.

El tapped her finger against her chin in thought. "I may have but if I did I probably have it stuck in that book somewhere." She told herself to put away a reminder to organize it later. "If you find any work you like, feel free to keep it." Elaine smiled at Max. She was always willing to give away art, maybe it could make someone else happy.
