Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
And so the True Night's Show Starts - Zona & TaLia Trial
Post by Stephen Leland on Jul 9, 2014 13:21:43 GMT
The girl was good, she recognized who he was, even with all his assassin gear on. Stephen snorted "I suppose it depends. You seem to enjoy getting beaten up so both answers might be correct" Pausing, he listened to her little question. Frowning he answered "Well most likely it would be fine, but being caught in the act somewhat defeats the purpose of being an assassin. You do not want your audience to know that you 'did the deed.' But it would probably be fine in this case since you both are assassins- or trainee assassins to be accurate. Sometimes things like this happen: you both have similar targets and they both end up at the same place. Because of this some assassins partner up for such cases. But, since this was a trial, I think it best that the two assassins leave each other alone. Interference from one might ruin the others chance at passing." Narrowing his eyes at her he went on "You did not jump in and try to help did you?" Obviously this event had happened since she was asking about it.

"HELL no! Why would I try to- scratch that, why would I want to help someone e I'm competing against?" Zona replyed think that was a stupid question. "Why would I want to go and do that and then end up jeopardizing my chances of getting in here!" Zona said starting to get mad, "How dare he even think that!" Zona thought to herself, no longer looking at the rich boy and just started twirling the knife around, she would start carving something into the wall but the Guild may no care for that.

"Wow, you really are slow. Doing that would not jeopardize your admission, it would probably make you look even better. But who knows, I am not the one judging your trial" he replied with a yawn.

"That's common occasion even for whom grew old on the job, you can either join forces and deal with both targets together or each finish their task on their own." Another voice from behind Zona, and a hand that patted her shoulder, perhaps a tad hard; if it had been on purpose or not, only God and the very redhead who spoke would know.
"Anyway, just get things done. Bonus for walking back on your own before the watchers decided to fetch you." Epikuro gave a bit of a half smile and stepped back so the people who were behind herself could pass and walk back into the closet that leaded to the cellar level. There were two duos of hooded assassins, each pair carrying a tied up person - the blond lad who pissed himself and was rocking back and forth outside and the quiet tall brunette, both being the others who had been trialed as well, and both with their bodies completely unresponsive. If anyone felt like paying attention to the fainted 'dansels in distress', not counting the piss ftom the blonde he also had subtle splatters of blood on his shoes, hem of his pants and on one side of his face, and the other was completely clean except for some sand gathered on his heels. Most newbies passed through that, if Stephen can remember his own trial, though this time he was not part of the unconscious group. And since Zona came back walking on her own feet, that made it the only still missing newbie for that evening was Talia. The duo observing her shouldn't take much longer to bring her back as well, having finished her task or not. Lucky for her, she did.
Two hooded figures awaited for Talia to head back at the entrance of the dungeon-like place where her target met his end, hiding faded into the area's natural shadows. If she will be returning conscious or not would depend on how keen her perception was - if she notices them, good for her and she can make the trip walking on her own, and if not, she'll be knocked out cold and tied up and end up in the theater's cellar all the same, just without any memory of how she ended up there.

"Do you think you're the first to try and kill me?" Archabold seethed at his new assassin. "Im sure it gets busy for a maggot like you" TaLia shot back, she was growing impatient and started to look around the room for a weapon of her own. When she turned to her right she noticed the blue girl letting people out of their cages. she must be the one who killed the other two blokes. Archbold also notice the women escaping out the other door and lost his head. He started after one of the woman screaming like a mad man "get back here you have a show tomorrow" and "stay where you are I've already sold you". This gave TaLia enough time to grab a stick that must have belonged to a broom once but was clearly used for beating, it had been altered and had the same blunt metal on the end like Archbolds bat.
He didn't get far, TaLia chased after him and started swinging at the his back. She hit him in the head, arms and back, this seemed to annoy him more than harm him. Archbold swung around and grabbed at the broom stick with one hand and they were standing there playing a game of tug-a-war. "You're going to work the rest of your life to pay off what you just lost me cleaver" With that he gave a great push on the broom stick and sent TaLia flying backwards, she was expecting to land on the bodies of his workers but instead hit the cold floor. It hurt, she felt the pain in her back and legs. Rolling to her side she noticed the men were chained to the beds. Blue hair was quick, how did I miss her dragging the bodies?- I have to get up, he is going to kill me if I don't get up. She was right she moved to her left just in time for his bat to come down next to her head and hit the floor with a loud thud.
That was it, TaLia gave a quick look around to make sure the room was empty. It was. He swung for her head again and she put her hands up to block his hit, it hit hard against her hand witch made her hand hit her forehead. GET UP! She screamed at herself, and with that her wings came out. She shot straight up sending Archbold to the ground looking like his eyes might pop out of his head. "What the" was all he could get out before she sent a kick right to his face, blood sprang from his nose like water from a faucet. He let out a cry and started crawling backwards with one hand cupped to his nose, he looked so pathetic.
He was starting to recover from shock so she needed to move quick, she swooped down and landed right behind him grabbing the back of his jacket and began to drag him. He started to swing his fist back at her hitting her hard in the arms, but she did not let go. "You want to know what its like to be strapped to a bed maggot" she screamed at the back of his head and pulled him nest to a bed. With her right hand she grabbed the chain attached to the bed and wrapped it around his neck, he started thrashing trying to get it off. She pulled it as tight as she could as his body continued jerk and twitch, his mouth filled with a gurgling sound like it was full of water but still trying to breath.
Finally he stopped moving and making the sound, she held on for a few minutes longer just to make sure. When she let go of the chain her hands hurt, they were covered in tiny rips and tears from holding on so tight. She slowly got up from under him and could feel every part of her body scream in protest. The only part of her that felt good was her wings, she had not used them in so long it was like moving your arm after it had been in one position all night.
TaLia gave a bow for the life she had taken (not for the man he was) and turned for the door. She grabbed her jacket and put it on before she hit the alley outside. The night air felt so good on her hot skin, she raised her face in the air and breathed it in. The walk back to the theater would be a good one.

Yeah... she didn't notice them. But she was, well, not dead, and her target was, so that was promising enough for a pass, but she was going to be doing the return travel while sleeping. The shadowy figures approached, and a pair of hands held a cloth wet in chloroform in front of Talia's nose and mouth until she passes out, and then bound her like a twisted, strange winged croissant to carry around. Well, that was it. Sorry that the trip back would not be comfortable as she wished, but at least once she gets her oficial pass grade she could make her own comfortable and untied trip to wherever is the place she's living at.
When TaLia opened her eyes she felt foggy. Wait when did I close my eyes? The pain in her back and legs slowly started to throb, she tried to rub her leg but realized her hands and feet were bound. Wonderful, I failed and now they are going to kill me. GO TALIA! She chastised herself. Lifting her head she could finally see what was around her, it made the sinking feeling in her stomach worst.
Hoods, Hoods all around. Yup, you're going to die now. She put her head back down and decided if she was going to go, she would go in silence.

Stephen noticed the other recruits get dragged into the room, watching silently. Getting up, he stretched his arms wondering if they had passed. Finally, the last recruit came in. It was time to decide. Adjusting his hood, he join the circle that formed around the recruits, silently observing what would happen next.

Zona watched as the last new recruit came in, it was the girl whos target ran into the room she was working in. Once all the knocked out recruits were lined up... or rather laying in a line, Zona made her way over to them. Zona decided to stand next to the girl she ran into earlier, plus she didn't want to walk all that far and the girl was the closest to her. She noticed the girl had wings, and was now awake. Zona thought to herself, "Either that guy she fought was tough and she needed her full power to take him down, or shes just really weak..." Not sure which was the right answer, or if she even killed the guy made Zona wonder what happened, but she didn't ponder on that too long, because in reality, she really didn't care, she was just waiting for the redhead to talk again.

Back in the shadows of the cellar the other CAEsAL teams stood in silence by the shadows of the cellar and listened to their newbies breathing, once in a while catching sight of some having some sort of short brainstorm that almost made their thoughts audible. They had fetched a silent batch this time, didn't they... at least compared to the few previous trials where the indictees brought back started to chat (or whine) about the possibilities of their demise and theorize the possibilities of how death would feel like. Once all of the ones being trialed were back on their feet and standing side by side, Morpheus stepped forward once again and relit the hanging lantern. Another two silhouette figures were having their sweet time sitting down on the lower stairsteps, crossed arms resting over the knees - that's the redhead from before, thanks to the dim light only identifiable by the boots she was wearing (if anyone paid attention to those), and another blond woman.
"Ladies and gentlemen (and not-so-gentle men as well), it's time for the veredicts." Morpheus' velvety voice sounded rather eery in the stuffy room... and then he laughed. "Ok who wants to go first?" "Ladies first, and our first-coming calls dibs." A pair of hands came from behind and one grabbed Zona's shoulder while the other gave a series of 'friendly' pushes onto her back until she had walked - or wobbled, either works - towards the lamp, visible to all under that strange spotlight. "For the evening's show, this fine lady stole the spotlights. She's a marvellous actress, knows her moves well, and I bet she can sing too! Just don't ask her to be your beautiful assistant, gents, or she'll tie you up in your magic box and cut you in half for real." And the man kept patting Zona's shoulder all the while he spoke. "We're calling her Diva, because that's what she is."

When the hands on her back began to push her forward Zona, she began to walk, a bit unstable at first but she quickly regained her footing. She then stopped in what looked to be a spotlight, and listened to what was being said. Hearing praise come from the mans voice made Zona very proud of herself, and glad she played along with her victim. But hearing her code name was Diva made her slightly angry, "Why the Hell would the choose that name for me?!" She thought to herself, but after a moment she realize that name fit her perfectly, and she was no longer mad, in fact she loved it! Zona stepped forward a bit and took a long and very low gentleman's bow. And when she began to rise back up from it she said, "Thank you very much. I am pleased to be playing this Part." She said very slowly, and with a grin. And she ment every word she said.

TaLia was now on her feet and waiting for her sentencing. She was not sure if she had passed or failed still and was happy they started with blue hair. TaLia was just happy it was over, the test was done and she had taken a nasty maggot off the street. It was hard to wait in silence to find out if you would live or die.

Next, it was TaLIa's turn. Similarly to Zona, she was prodded forward by a hooded duo and placed under the dim spotlight of the cellar's lamp. Differently from Zona though, who had been untied the hole time, no one made mention to loose the winged woman's binds. "Lasses and gents, today we gained proof God exists... more or less, he sent this lady straight into our little underground corner." There were equal amounts of snickers and groans to that corny comment. "She came around in good time to show that accomplicing of crimes also receive divine punishment (or hellish, as you will). And just look at her, gents, it's more than clear where she belongs."
The blade of a dagger glimmered under the little flame's light, and then the ropes were cut. "We decided to call her Azazel, as the fallen angel of death." Had a touch of drama, but it matched well the mood of that evening.

All Zona could do for the moment was stand off to the side and listen to what was happening quietly, and when Zona heard that the girl she ran into earlier actually got a codename, it reassured her that the girl, now known Azazel, actually did take down her target. Zona was rather surprised to hear that someone other than herself had made it, but out of the other three recruits Zona had the most hope for the only other girl out of the bunch, and after hearing all that Azazel was saying to her target its no wonder she made it through. As she continued to watch to see what the girl would do now with receiving a codename, Zona thought to herself, "I think a small celebration is in order after this, and I'll have to see if that Azazel, or whatever her real name is, would care to join me..." Still keeping an eye out to see what was going to happen as she began to drift off into thought.

Azazel, AzzzzazzzzzelIt felt good in TaLias brain. She repeated it over and over till it stuck. A few moments ago she was sure she was going to die, now she has code name she was proud of. TaLia stood for a moment longer looking at the crowed that was thing out, the other new recruit was also still there and watching the same crowd. After a moments thought she decided she would go and introduce herself to blue hair, they were both new and she had crashed in on her tonight. With one more glance at the thinning crowd she walked over to blue.
