Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
Open to allFootsteps hit the cobblestone of the ground in the dim afternoon, a man coming around the corner as he almost wipes out on the wet stone, grabbing traction and running forward into a dead end. He turns around to the sound of even more footsteps and shouting of "Which way did he go?!" "Over there ya' doofus!" Though only two talked, multiple were on Levi's tale. He watches at the two bigger men come around, and he can tell they're not something to mess with. They're obviously part of one of Lodan's nastier gangs and how Levi came into contact with them isn't a mystery, come on think about it, even Levi knows that is one person he should've have met. The two back him into the corner, his body wet with perspiration and the mist of the evening.
"You tried to play with the wrong girly, little boy." The bigger one with a shaved head and burly mustache calls to the blue-eyed runner. Levi bares his teeth and pulls his hands into a boxing position as he was caught without his blade. "Bring it, twat-face." Is the chosen insult for tonight, and it was like throwing gasoline into the fire because the second man comes swinging at Levi with fists of cinderblocks. Levi blocks with his forearms and boy does it hurt. He may be strong but these fists coming down aren't the most pleasant thing to block, but that's nothing compared to the sucker-punch baldy delivered to his chin, causing an audible crack as one of Levi's back teeth comes flying from is mouth, surfing to the ground in a wave of blood. Levi calls out for help as he stands up, and the bigger men just laugh.
You know what they say though, a cornered cat is the deadliest.

"You got somethin' against cats, stinky?" Maeve Asked from the shadows. She was sitting on a loosely hinged old fire escape. The slightest shift in her weight made the whole thing swing like it was coming down. She was careful not to shift unless she was ready to come down. She wasn't, not yet, but she was done with her apple. She tossed the core at the man who'd cracked the feline in the face.
"Two on one aint a fair fight boys. An' I personally don't care for name callin' or else I'd leave yuh to your business..." She cracked each of her knuckles and rolled her neck before slipping from the bars and landing lightly on her feet behind them. Now Levi was in the front and the two bullies were sandwiched in between. "One question before we get started.... Was she your sister?" She asked the big man.
If the "wrong girly" kitty cat here had messed with was the bigger man's sister, then Mae would walk away... or perhaps hold down the beefy friend while watching the big brother break in blue-eyes face. If she wasn't his sister.... well then, all bets were off weren't they?
"Wow, just this one guy is causing trouble? And you idiots could not even take him down. The guy is half your size" Stephen jabbed with a disapproving frown from the entrance of the alley. He was in his assassin's outfit so these people would not be able to recognize him. Lucky for this guy, he was on a mission that involved one of these men. The poor chap would have probably been beaten up had he not gotten here. Alas, the killing of this man would have to wait since there were witnesses. "Oi, it ain't non of yer business so ya better scram or you'll end up like 'im ya pomps git" the larger man snapped at him. "Name calling is not nice" he muttered. "Hello Miss, good to see you as always" he said dryly, walking over to join her.
"Naw, he took all the jewels from Ma's desk!" Levi's look around as what he hopes to be reinforcements arrive. "She had it coming! I told you I wouldn't forget!" Levi snarls, his face curling into scowl as his voice charges from his body. "You'll end up like her to if you keep comin!" And that was enough to get the other to come at Levi, which he sidesteps and kicks towards the mans waist. Levi wasn't the smartest fighter un-armed, and being up on adrenaline isn't helping either. He doesn't even ackeknowledge the other people, but stares at the man who just got kicked, and now what's revenge as he picks up a piece of wood from the dumpster which causes Levi to go all ninja-cat focus, as he drops his hands, focusing on ducking and weaving as the splinted oak flys towards his face and body in a flurry of hatred.

Well, if iwasn't that gang bandit popular! Seemed like he not only had the redhead on his trail, but Stephen as well, and even Maeve (albeit very probably her motives were not the same as them). She couldn't help but frown at the irony, though it could seem like she was looking at the splatter of blood and lone tooth Levi had been punched to spit to the ground. She didn't care if either of them saw her by now, it wasn't like she would kill the target with to many witnesses around and anyway her own assassin attire was made to look like just a normal attire - a black suit tailored for cold weather with the inner shirt being dark red, and a scarf that could be fastened or loosened to hide or show her face at will. If anyone asks her what she's doing at the Peasants Hovel, she'd say she'd been recruiting. A considerable number of her workers did come from the less rich parts of Lodan after all.
"Name calling, and ganging up on a guy who's barely two thirds your height and half your weight." So even when Levi started counter-attacking like a madman with a wood piece she didn't even blink. "...I'd say that's well-deserved. He stole things from your 'Ma'? Well you stole his tooth, turn around and go sell it." Levi's problem wasn't her problem per se, but she was right there anyway and in a bit of an annoyed mood for having her job delayed that night.

It wasn't his sister, but it was his Ma. She supposed that was almost the same thing. She wouldn't knock anyone's teeth out for her own ma, the woman was a ghost who abandoned her too soon in her young life, but some people had mothers worth fighting for. She stood by idly as the kitty cat raged, getting himself an even bigger beating for all his trouble. Stephen showed up, and Mae was only mildly surprised. For a rich boy, he sure spent a lot of time doing 'charity work' in the slums.
It was Edel's unannounced arrival that really sent her eyebrows to the top of her forehead. "My my what a surprise, must be someone special," she muttered to herself, but her eyes fell on Levi, wrongly assuming he was the one garnering the bosses attention. She wondered who he was, and what made him so important. She was gonna let these bruisers rough him up a bit (but stick around to make sure no one got killed) since stealing from someone's ma seemed pretty deserving of a beating. She might change her mind tho, depending on Edel and Stephens actions.
Stephen turned to see Epikuro join the audience "Good Afternoon Miss, here to observe the entertainment as well?" he asked, smirking a little at her. Personally he was debating on going in there to stop the fight but he had not cast his final verdict on who was at fault yet. One thing was for sure though "I am afraid that the winner of this fight is not going to be very pleased that we stood by and watched. I think I will go help the winning team out then, what say you?" he asked his fellow bystanders. Plus, what fun was it to stand by and watch a fight.

"Well don't misunderstand me, it's not like stealing someone's mother (whom judging by that guy's face must be an ancient elder) is a louvable action..." She shrugged "And I don't personally know neither Toothless nor the other two of them, so usually I wouldn't mind much who wins... but I heard an interesting little report on my way here and no one offs one of my workers and escapes unscathed." and then stared more fixedly onto the big Mama guy. Stephen and Maeve could give a hand or stand by, she didn't really mind which option they choose. Usually someone needed to do some really messed up stuff before falling into her deathlist since she was rather picky, but anyone unlucky enough to manage killing one of her own got a straight ticket to it. And once the person was in they'd be lucky if she didn't meet anyone on the way -she might not be willing to get rid of the target while anyone was watching, but that didn't mean she couldn't hurt him... and then recover some of her good mood and patience to wait until she had a more proeminent absence of witnesses to be able to finish the job.

As much fun as it was to listen to everyone debate the merits of joining the fight, Maeve was getting bored with the moral predicament and decided to just have a go at it. Levi wasn't going to last much longer anyway with a two-by-four in his face. Maeve grabbed the nape of the man swinging the big stick and dug in her claws, she felt the skin split beneath her fingers. The moment his shoulders shot up instinctively to try buffing her off, she jerked her hand back with him in her grip and punched him right in the kidney with her other fist. His back arched and he gave up swinging on the ma-offender. Instead, he switched his grip on the wood and gave a swing from the hip, trying to aim it behind him and knock Maeve off his back.

Stephen nodded at Epikuro's words but frowned when Mae suddenly jumped into the fray. "Thoughtless, bullheaded woman" he growled, running in to help her. The man swung the piece of wood to hit the left side of his back, a path that would connect with the girl digging into him. Just as the wood was about to connect Stephen slammed into him, taking the intended hit for Mae on his own side. The impact of his running hit caused the man to topple down but he was not the only one to receive damage. His own vision flashed white from the intense hit, pain flaring up the left side of his body. Bloody Hell that hurt; no doubt the left side of his body would be badly bruised and possibly a few of his ribs were broken as well. Coughing in an attempt to regain his breath, he continued his attack as he kicked his downed opponents head, aiming for his temple to knock the man out. The coughing fit caused him to miss in the end, causing his foot to collide with the man's jaw instead. "A little...help Epikuro..." he wheezed, finally kicking the man in his intended spot. He staggered back into the wall as he saw his opponent go limp. ((Unarmed Combat II used)) He would just sit the rest of the fight out now; the others seemed quite capable of taking care of the situation. With his condition he would only get in the way.
Levi is quite happy that the people decided to stop staring and pull the thumb out of their bums and help, sheesh. He brushes 'dirt' off of his shoulder as he looks at the big man going down from the dynamic duo of Maev and Stephen. Though he's still not in a spot to fight back, limited by the end of the alley, he sweeps low, as his leg comes in a wide arc, attempting to get the big guy that Stephen hit on his arse with the combined kicks.

"Just a minute, I'm a bit busy at the moment." She grumbled while her arms were still wrapped around the other guy's neck from behind in a closed headlock (UC II) and he squirmed and struggled around and tried to grab her sides as possible to get rid of her and pull the air back into his lungs - which warranted some kicks from her against his knee joints. It tended to happen when one have more than one opponent, but the big guy's equally big friend didn't seem to want to standby and watch, so at that exact second the redhead's focus was on getting him down and keeping him from interfering with the other fighting. Well at least if someone told her she leaves a guy breathless, it would feel truer in a sense.

One down, and one going down. Edel chose to choke out the man who was defending his mama's honor, or jewels or whatever. Mae wasn't too invested in his reasoning. She just believed in a fair fight... and two on one might be fair in some cases, if the two equal the one in strength and skill... that didn't seem to be the case here when the cat cried for help at the beginning of their encounter. To avoid any more beatings than was necessary (maybe just because she was so trained to stop while she was ahead) Maeve jabbed the man on his arse with a knife hand to the throat, catching him in the artery and forcing him to pass out. With him out for the count, everyone could let up on the kicking and punching. No sense in sending people to the hospital when you'd already made your point.
Stephen was working on taking deep breaths, trying to dull the pain in his side by not thinking about it. Glancing back up he noticed that the two gang members were taken care of. "Lovely, you finished them all off. Great." he coughed, his hand clutching his side. Last time he saved that ungrateful woman. He practically risked his whole left half to take a hit intended for her and she did not even bat an eye. She is going on in his deathnote not-worth-your-time list for sure now.

Maeve heard the cough and begrudging false cheer of one fancy pants noble. She turned to face him and saw the way he leaned against the wall, clutching at his side. "Well well," she said with the slightest rise of her brows. "Look who's turn it is to walk who to the doctors now," she gave a closed lipped smile. "Here, let me help you," She approached him, ready to play the crutch and get him moving if he'd accept her. She didn't much fancy another trip to the doctor, but she did fancy a chance to pay him back for his previous kindness and get even on the score board.
