Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

George raised an eyebrow as he appraised the lad in front of him. "Monster cartographer eh? Dangerous line of work. The master may want to add your book to his small collection in the study. Used to have a library in this house before the blaze." he said. "I assume you'd return with regular updates if you ever encountered a new creature or discovered something new about already known ones?" asked the man, putting in the incentive of a possible continuous source of income... assuming the lad picked up on the hint.
"But, that can wait till the morn. Off to bed now lad." said George, nodding to an empty room across the hall from Stephen's. With the directions given, he went back downstairs to his own room in the kitchen, but not before checking up on Lefiruc. There he was, sat in his chair, facing towards the portrait of his late wife and son, tear stains fresh on his features as he slept. The manservant collected a quilt he'd stashed in the room corner and put it over the older man before dimming the fire. He left the room as quietly as he had entered and then went to his room he shared with his daughter.

Danny shrugged his shoulders and looked across the hall to the room that was indicated for him. Seemed like Stephen was doen for the night. The boy did a quick walk around the room before he looked out the window of the room. "Well there's that..." Danny sat down at the edge of his bed and began his wait. After what was probably ten minutes, though it seemed like an hour, Danny moved over to the window and climbed onto the ledge. He took a quick glance around before he made his departure with a leap.

Stephen woke up in a tired mess. Some how he had managed to get into his room, hang up his wet clothes to dry and flop into the bed. The mornings were always disgusting for him. With a groan he rolled over, out from under the covers so that he was sitting on the edge of the bed. From reflection of the window he could see his hair was an unkempt mess. This room was very odd, how did he get here? The memory of what happened last night slowly trickled into his tired brain. "Ah how pleasant..." he said sarcastically, yawning some as he ran a hand through his hair.
Some loud stomps could be heard outside his room. That could only mean- The door to his current room was suddenly thrown open with a loud bang "Get up ya Lazy Cat! Everyone is already busy bustling about and here you are, half naked and still drooling!" Charles roared cheerily, laughing joyously to himself as he slammed the door back shut. Stephen stared at where his father had just been with a highly unamused look on his sleepy face. "I do not drool.." he muttered irritably as he got up, wiping his mouth just in case. After he finished putting on his now dry clothes and managing to make his hair look somewhat presentable he left his room. Not before making his bed of course. A maid would usually do this but he preferred to do it himself. He descended the stairs, looking around for the others.

Contrary to the senior Leland's words, not everyone was bustling about. Lefiruc was sat in the main room with the morning paper in his hands and Linda was still asleep in her room. George was the only one actually doing anything as he prepared what he could for the breakfast this morning for the residents in the kitchen. The elderly noble looked up as Charles came down the stairs. "Well, I see the sun finds you in high spirits Mister Leland. One has to wonder if this is how you always greet the morn." he said with a twitch of his eyebrow as he sat there in his seat, in nought but a dressing robe, a set of pyjamas and his slippers, his cane resting against the chair.

"Why yes! I always wake up bright and early. As I always say, Greet every day with a grin, for it just might be your last. And please Mr. Storm, call me Charles!" the noble said cheerily as he sat down at the table. Stephen some how managed to walk over to a seat and sit tiredly down upon it. "Glad you could join us, Sloth!" his father laughed, smacking him hard on the back. Utterly unprepared for the contact, his torso flopped forward, causing his face to make contact with the table in front of him. A weak groan escaped his mouth as he stayed face down on the table as his father roared with laughter. "DID YOU SEE THAT?!?! BAHAHA! Ahhaha you never cease to be a source of entertainment for me son" Charles hooted, utterly amused. Stephen did not grace him the privilege of an answer as he slowly sat back up, rubbing his face.
The old man looked to the younger Leland in concern for his tumble before eyeing Charles. "Didn't realise that the youth existed merely for entertainment." he muttered before returning to his morning paper. "Personally, I prefer a calmer awakening. If you rush to greet the morning sun, you miss the smell of fresh flowers, the subtle warmth of the floorboards as the sun heats them, the gentle rolling of her chest as she sleeps..." Lefiruc trailed off before sighing. "I'm going to presume that George in his infinite wisdom informed you then?" he asked, shooting the manservant in question an accusing glance as he arrived with breakfast, which consisted of a very basic salad, with some bacon strips on the side. George shrugged innocently before returning to the kitchen.

Charles sighed happily, chuckling a little at his son once more. "You are very wise Mr. Storm. I envy that of you." As the conversation turned serious Charles happy smile felt into a sadder, more serious one "Ah yes, George informed me of your losses. It brings me great pain to hear of the great tragedies you have been through. I was engaged once but she died before I ever had the pleasure of experiencing the married life." Charles looked thoughtfully at his food as Stephen stared at the wall with a vacant look, morning the loss of a life he never had the privilege to know. "But I always say, remember those we have lost with a smile. They really loved us and would not want our lives to be harder because of their absences. Never regret but never forget. That is what I think. It might be a tacky sentiment but it has kept me going through these years." Charles looked up and smiled at Mr. Storm "Your wife must have been an amazing woman in life, no doubt. I wish I could have had the honor of meeting her."
"It is wisdom hard bought... I sometimes wonder if the price was worth it..." he sighed. Lefiruc nodded at Charles sentiment. "That she was... A woman of fire and spirit. The way her eyes would sparkle like amethysts whenever she laughed... or even when she was mad. Oh her temper was a fierce one." the elder chuckled before he sighed. "To compound tragedy... I do not even know if my eldest lived or died in the civil war... She left our house when the... duties of our house became too much for her. Never heard from her since then..." he sighed before slowly getting up. "Come... I think you should meet Lilith..."
Lefiruc walked past them, leaning on his cane as he entered his study, leaving the door open for the two to follow if they chose to do so. There atop the mantlepiece was the intricately carved urn, along with the portraits. "Lilith, this is Charles Leland, and his son Stephen." he introduced if they came in with him.
((may note a slight resemblance if Stephen is paying attention to a certain annoying girl ))
Charles and Stephen followed Mr. Storm up to his study. The two examined the pictures. Charles smiled at the portrait "It is a pleasure to meet you Madam." He turned to Mr. Storm once again, patting him lightly on the back "She is very beautiful. Thank you for introducing us." Stephen was more shocked then honored at seeing the portrait of the late Mrs. Storm. At first glace she seemed like the a typical, beautiful woman. Upon closer inspection though a thought popped up in his head. Bloody Hell, that woman looked exactly like that blue haired brat Ikuze! Stephen cleared his throat, trying not to look as shocked and confused as he felt "Ah, Mr. Storm, you said you had an elder child. What was their name, if I may be so bold as to ask" he said carefully, still studying the pictures.
Lefiruc looked at Stephen curiously for a moment at his question. "...Her name was Lira... She'd be about thirty now or so, if she survived... That's her there when she was eight." said Lefiruc, pointing to a smaller picture on the mantelpiece of a little girl. "Why do you ask?" he replied, taking careful note of Stephen's reaction in comparison to his fathers. Something's amiss here... the old man thought to himself.

Charles gave Stephen a slight frown. No doubt he thought it disrespectful to ask this man about his deceased family members. "Ah, I see. Do you, by any chance, have any other children?" Maybe Ikuze was also the child of Lira. It was quite possible. But what was a poor brat like that doing out on the streets when she was related to nobility? Did she not know she was related to Mr. Storm? Come to think of it, Ikuze's last name started with the same letter as Mr. Storm's. He could not recall if she had told him her last name but he knew for certain that it started with an 'S' since he had her initials in his book. Charles cleared his throat, giving his son a warning look "Stephen, it is rude to pry." Of course it was but he needed to sort this out. What if Ikuze knew of Lefiruc Storm and their relations but decided to stay hidden from him for some reason? Was it his right to give away her information to this man? No, he would have to ask her in person first. Oh if only Danny was here; He always seemed to know everything or at least the boy could help him locate Ikuze.
Lefiruc waved a hand at Charles, leaning on his cane slightly as he paid rapt attention now to Stephen's words. "The only other child I had besides Lira, was my infant son who now lies with his mother in that urn..." he said slowly, as he tried to figure out what the young man's goal here was... Unless... The old man suddenly surged with energy as he tried to take a hold of Stephen by the shoulders, his eyes boring into the young man's own. "What do you know about Lira? Did she have a child? Is that what you're trying to get at boy? Tell me!" he asked, his eyes slowly starting to film over as the sheer possibility of the situation presented before him began to take hold and form.
Stephen sputtered in surprise at the mans outburst, not liking the fact that he was being man handled by the other man But, the reasons were somewhat understandable; And he had looked so hopeful too... "I am not going to confirm anything, Mr. Storm, but... I have met someone who has a... resemblance to your wife and daughter in these pictures." Quickly his hand shot up to stop the man from interrupting him, a slightly irritated look on his face as he continued "This could all just be a wild coincidence, sir. So I ask that you do not go jumping to hope filled conclusions. I will look more into the matter and check in with this person. I will keep their identity a secret for the time being in order to protect their privacy and I hope you will respect that decision. Now, please unhand me."
The old man glared through the water in his eyes as the younger man dared to not reveal this persons identity to him. But then the anger that had been there for the moment left him as he slowly nodded. "Of course..." he said, shifting his hands from the lads shoulders as he fought to regain his composure. "Well then," he said after a minute of sorting himself out. "it would appear that you have quite the mission ahead of you young master Leland. I do have... one stipulation though..." said Lefiruc. "If... if this turns out truth... that this person... is indeed... my..." he said, cursing himself for losing composure again. "My blood and heir... that you inform me at once..." requested the elderly man, as he slowly sat down in his chair in the study, the weight of all his years feeling both lighter and heavier at this moment.
"Do not delay... please... If this turns out truth... in either case... I will be in your debt." he said, before a dark storm loomed across his face. "However... if this turns to be some trick or falsehood, to gain some hand over me and mine, or the truth is found and you hold them against... Know my fury will be eclipsed only by that exhibited by the Red Horseman of War." said Lefiruc, the fire in the fireplace seeming to simultaenously brighten and darken as it grew wild for a moment before it settled down. No doubt a draft in the house or problem with the chimney. "Am I understood?"
Stephen nodded, listening to the man sate his case. At the mention of the possibility of him using this information to get ahead, the young nobles frown deepened. The sudden change in the fire cause him to flick his eyes to it. Remembering Ikuze's affinity for fire his eyes stayed on the fire for a moment until it settled down. There might be a possibility that Mr. Storm had the same kind of magic as her so the fire's movement might have been caused by his anger instead of a trick of the wind; whatever the case, he wanted to leave the house as soon as possible, to sort out the mystery and be sure of his fathers and his own safety. People do things they regret when angered, this much he knew. Turning his eyes back slowly to Mr. Storm, he gave him his reply "Oh course Mr. Storm, I only ask for their privacy since I do not know you well enough to trust you with this information. I do understand the importance of such information, so you can be assured that I will be working on this the very moment I step out of this house."
A polite smile appeared on his face, but there were daggers in his eye "As to falsifying information, I see no benefit whatsoever of lying over such a serious manner. If you take me for someone who would stoop as low to partake in such things then I am sorry to inform you that you are sadly mistaken upon my character. I understand your terms and conditions perfectly, sir. Now, I thank you for your hospitality but I feel that we are overstaying our welcome. It has been a pleasant stay, and I apologize if we have over stepped our bounds in any way. I believe that it would be best if we take our leave now though." Charles, who had been quietly studying the two convers nodded and gave Mr. Storm a nod with a kind but reserved smile "Thank you Lefiruc, once again, for everything. I hope to see you again some time. This time, I promise that it will be an invitation to our home and not barge in on you again." Charles gave him one final nod before exiting the room. Stephen gave Lefiruc a bow of his head, but paused at the exit then turned to Mr. Storm with a thoughtful look in his eye "Though I will hold the information of who I speculate to have relations to you, I can tell you that this person has a certain knack for fire magic... if this means anything to you. Good Day." And with that he turned and left, not waiting for the mans response.
