Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap
OPEN TO Edelweiss Fjäril Amon woke up, gasping for air as he fought the covers in an effort to sit up in the bed.
Where was he?
What happened?
Unfortunately, he was only offered a few moments of panic before a sudden sense of vertigo hit him, along with the memory of what happened.
Oh yeah.
He nearly died.
...Again.
He brought a hand up to his right eye, gently applying pressure to it.
Yup.
Still there.
He then looked at his left hand and shoulder, moving it a little and flexing his hand, also ensuring that all functionality was restored. However, his little self-inspection barely lasted a second longer, as the vertigo wave overtook him and he crashed back down, breathing hard and fighting to stifle the urge to throw up.
Yeah. He was definitely alive. The familiar (yet spinning) ceiling meant that his message got through.
The fact that the ceiling was spinning meant that he was still healing naturally and thus had a fever; due to how magic and tech didn't exactly play nice, she more than likely followed their prescribed instructions and healed him enough to get rid of the major injuries, but not go any further, lest his tech side break down, despite being as magically resistant as possible.
All he could do at the moment was wait for the feeling to subside before getting up to see if she was still around.

The gasping and wrestling against the bedsheets nearby had been more than enough to usher her awake again. The redhead uncrossed her arms and removed them from the mattress along her own head, then blinked, sending that remaining aftersleep daze away from her eyes and standing up from her seat on the armchair by the bedside.
The clock on the back wall told it was 7 in the morning; the mist-covered grey sky beyond the window sure had made it look earlier.
"Does the eye still hurt?" That had been one of the things that she had healed fully, along with the multiple stab wounds, but who knows. Last thing he probably knew he didn't even have it anymore, and phantom pains were a thing too. Not to mention having had to make healing magic work around those prosthetic parts, she still wasn't sure if there would be any side-effects from those. She moved to sit on the bed nearby him, holding a finger up in front of his face and moving it slowly side to side to check for eye movevent (that seemed to be working fine at least), and then reaching that hand to touch his forehead. It was practically burning.
"I should have an antipyretic by the drawers... Think you can swallow a pill, or would liquid be better?"
Ah...so she was next to him...he was really out of it if he didn't notice...
"Not as much as making you worry..." he replied, attempting to make a small smile (but probably failing) as he followed Edel's finger with his eyes, first with both open, then with his left eye closed.
Yup, still perfectly functional.
"I think I can manage the pill...though in all honesty, either would work with how nauseous I'm feeling..." he managed to say between breaths, closing his eyes and taking comfort in the (comparative) coolness of her hand on his forehead.

"I expected that much..." She commented with a small sigh at his statement about being nauseous, then went to fetch the aforementioned antipyretic from the nightstand drawer, bringing the pill along a less than half-filled water cup - just enough to help swallow and nothing else.
"But if it's of any solace, you won't really vomit since your stomach is pretty much empty... breakfast will have to wait until the feeling passes, though."
"Yeah..." he agreed, slowly propping himself up a little to receive the medication before taking the pill and settling back into the bed after returning the water cup.
"...Sorry..." Amon sighed. "...I really need to stop dying...these near death experiences are becoming less frightening and more annoying..."

"......" She blinked, then couldn't help but ask (along rising an eyebrow): "What are you apologising for? It's not like you want or enjoy to be attacked. In that sense it's not your fault, at least as far as I can see it."
And then he wasn't the only one sighing. "...What exactly happened there, though?"

"For making you worry so much..." Amon sighed, reaching to rub his temples. "As for what happened..." he continued, turning to face Edel.
"Louis," he stated flatly, before continuing with a shrug. "I had entered the district from one of the tunnels between the main theater and your place. I was making my way to your place when I noticed something amiss with the number and the way the EIRAL bastards were behaving. I then tried to make my way to another tunnel but got ambushed by Louis when I tried to double-back to a different route. Needless to say, I expected the inevitable betrayal, but it was much more sudden than initially calculated..." Amon snickered mirthlessly, before quieting down as another vertigo wave hit.

Edelweiss raised both eyebrows this time. She wasn't fully sure if it could be called a betrayal when the person in question was never truly on their side to start with and only kept in line due to a joint of blackmail and bribery. As for the 'EIRAL bastards'...
"Indeed, EIRAL seem to have caught a serious case of idiocy, and it proved quite lethal in its own way yesterday. By now the remains should be serving as nice snack for the forest shadowbeasts." She rubbed the bridge of her nose as if that would take the previous night's stress away. It didn't work very well.
"....Should I go after him then? I'm not very fond of waiting until you get attacked a third time."
"Technically this was the third time..." Amon said with a dry smile. "But there honestly is no need to go after him unless you want his corpse for something; it'll be in the dumpster near where you found me..."
"...You fairing okay...?" he asked, visibly concerned.

"...No." And this was one of those rare times in which the socially acceptable answer and the honest one actually matched well, and she didn't need to pretend to be alright. Then again, regarding the honest answer, it would have been the same for a long time already... so did it even make a difference? She didn't think it did anymore, so could only shrug slightly.
"But I've been worse before." That much was true. "And am not physically harmed in any form, other than a tad sleep-deprived." This was true as well.
"It's best if you stay in bed and rest for a while still, until we can be sure that fever isn't coming back anymore... Is there anything you need from home? And should I fetch Abby and Abe (or at least tell them what happened to you)?"

"Nah, the twins should know what happened..." Amon replied with a sigh, moving a little to get more comfy, resigned to staying put. "Just let them know I need my overnight pack...and my notebook," he added with a quick nod. "Might as well work on something while I'm laying low..."
"...Just be safe...okay...?" he said drowsily, concerned for her well-being.

"I'll be. Not planning on doing anything dangerous today at the very least." She assured simply while reaching out to move the hair out of his eyes, then stood up again.
It wasn't like she went around commiting assassinations every day, and mainly not in broad daylight. All that was scheduled for her today was a calm, boring pile of entertainment-related paperwork to fill in and checking over the overall aftermath of the past evening's chaos.
Besides, even as a secretary Stephen should be able to handle that first thing on his own for a day, and Elaine could handle the second for just as long too. So the redhead was planning on keeping most of her day free and contact the guild through phone calls and the building's reception desk if needed be, just passing by the guild quickly later if it seems like Amon is recovering nicely and wouldn't miss having someone watching over him.
"Overnight pack and notebook... and I'll bring something edible when I'm back too, if you feel like you can eat anything by then." She headed to the door, then stopped. "Think you'll be alright if I leave for an hour?"

"Eh...I think I can manage..." Amon replied as he adjusted the covers and made himself more comfy. "If the door is locked (and it should if my instructions were clear), simply knock twice when no one is around, they should let you in."
"Has fun~" he said sleepily as he started drifting off.

"Alright." She relented. "If the nausea gets worse, there's an antiemetic in the nightstand too. Second drawer, small brown bottle next to the green." It was close to what had been his first gift to her as well, since sometime around july the gear box had left the living room's table to be kept gingerly tucked along the little glass vials and a pile of yellowish paper notes. "Don't touch the pots with white labels though, they're not... for people consumption."
That said, Edelweiss crossed the door and reclosed it after passing with a quiet clink, figuring there was no need to comment on the (non-)grammatical choices as he's drifting off to sleep.
Then she headed off to the Merchants District through the shortest open route she could take, getting a quick glance at the note that had been left in front of the mechanic's shop entrance and trying to supress a subsequent snicker fit at it as she knocked on the door.
A moment later, the door opened a little to reveal a small face.
"Ah, Ms. Edelwiess. We have been expecting you," Abby said, opening the door enough for Edel to slip through before closing and locking the door behind her. The inside of the shop was pretty much intact, save for the displays keeping a keen eye on the room occupants.
"How may we help you? Would you like a drink?"
