Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

It was the fateful day, the day that he would rise (however late in the afternoon he delayed) and prop open his door, swing wide the shutters and turn over his sign. "We're Open" for the whole city to see, and he stood by ready, for any citizen with EMP to pay to learn the skills he had the potential to teach.

Caitlin entered the shop and made a bee-line for the toolbox in the front window. It would never do to be seen making one's way toward the potions and spell books behind the merchants counter. That was a dead giveaway which direction your bloodline leaned. And no one wanted to be caught going there. So she pretended to consider the technological things until the first few customers finished with their transactions and left the building. It was a fairly large shop that the Skills merc always rented when he came to town. It had enough room in the center of the floor to practice the trades he was selling (by appointment only after the transaction was processed) while everything else was pushed back against the walls and displayed in this boxlike fashion. When she thought it was safe to head over to the counter, Cait made haste and peered down at the spell books beneath the glass. On the corner of the counter top was the register, and she leaned on the surface next to it.
"Two level one spells please, for the usual price?" She asked and the merchants grin stretched wide and he nodded. "Ok, wonderful. Healing I, and Pyromancy I if you please." He took her money as soon as she gave her order, and he pulled out his datebook.
"I have openings Friday, Monday and Tuesday Evenings if you would be interested in stopping by after closing." He offered.
Caitlin stared through the counter at the books just out of reach, and her eagerness to learn new powers drove her to chose the nearest date. "Friday."
"Good, good. I will see you then miss...?"
"Caitlin. Miss Caitlin." She filled in the blank, shook his hand, then rushed out the door and was on her way.
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin
Rava entered the shop for the very 1st time , after hearing about it she managed to scrape together 10 Europium, enough to buy the skill she needed to fix the gift she got from the inventor whiles she was in Ca a'lla , she made a bee line for the gun skill and then to the counter.
"Gun skill 1 please" Rava said poring the 10 Europium on the counter " I dont know the processes but please can it be today , kinda want it to get out the way"
The young thief looked around all over the place, not wanting to give too much of a clue as to what she was. Instead of going straight for one or the other, she hoped to give the appearance that she was merely browsing over everything or checking out the competition. Ikuze didn't want to appear too eager to dash for the tech to hide her magical blood. Eagerness for one thing tends to make you look a little guilty in her view before going to look over the spellbooks on the counter once the coast was clear.
"Well... that's a problem.." she muttered a little bitterly. There wasn't any sigils or anything on the books bindings just squiggles. Squiggles she knew was writing, but it didn't help her at all since she didn't know how to read. "May I help you miss?" a voice suddenly poked up from the other side of the counter making her squeak a little in shock. It was the merchant who ran the shop. "Um... well..." she began before sighing and just deciding to go with the blurting option. "I can't read. What can I get for," she said before counting out her EPM, "18 Europium? Already know Hypnosis." she said. The merchant looked at the girl with a smile before he spoke. "Well, for that you can learn a rank one spell of any variety. You could go down the support skills with Healing of scratches and cuts, Protection; against magic mind you, Haste which is lots of jumping for you, Slow which is less jumping for them, Projection which makes you a ghost for a bit but can't do much yet, or Aquatics to let you breathe underwater for a while." he explained, pointing at the various tomes in turn.
Ikuze scratched her head a little. The only ones that sounded useful to her so far was the healing one and that haste one. "You said any variety right sir?" she asked, a little curious as to what other spells there were. The merchant smirked. "You paid attention good. There's the destruction spells, one of which you already know with Hypnosis. There's Pyromancy where you can make a small spark to light stuff, Necromancy where you can summon a little imp, Poison which you can use to touch people and give them at the basic rank the colds and coughs, Frostmancy which can freeze a small bit of water, about glass sized I'd say, and then Deceit where you can confuse the one you're casting onto for a while." he answered, once again pointing at the various tomes in turn.
"Thanks... I'll be back in a minute just gotta think this through.." said the thief to which the merchant just nodded. "Take your time little lass." he replied as she took up a seat in the corner of the shop and thought over what she'd just learned of what she could buy. The Deceit stuff sounded like it would go well with my Hypnosis... but given the scraps I've been getting into, could use something with a little more... punch to it. she mused to herself. So... Pyromancy sounds like it'd be good to get... but... don't wanna accidently set Lodan on fire neither... Ikuze mentally smacked herself. Come on, that's the normals talking there... he said it was a small spark, not a raging inferno. The thief paused as she realised something. These are the basics he said... so, sound kinda crap right now, but if I got more EPM... Ikuze clutched her head and groaned to herself, stomping her feet a little."Why's magic so complicated?!" she asked herself bitterly before she looked over at the tomes once more at the counter, and thinking each one through and what they could possibly turn into with more power behind them. She looked outside the window to the world she knew of Lodan, thought back to what she'd been through so far, and what likely would occur in the future.
Checking the cost was clear once again she made her way back to the counter and put down 10 of her EPM. "I'll take the Pyromancy for now. How long you here for?" she asked as he took the money. "I'm here for the next two weeks miss. Now, when would you like to learn this? I can put you down for Monday or Tuesday evening if you want after I shut the shop." Two weeks... that means I've got two weeks to get together another two Europium for another spell... the thief thought to herself before realising the merchant was waiting for her to answer. "Monday. Thanks." she said before she saw him tapping a book with a quill. "Oh um... yeah um... I can't um... I don't..." she stammered out before the merchant sighed. "What's your name miss and I'll jot it down." he said. "Ikuze Storm. Thanks." she said as he wrote it down, with her watching the squiggles. "So that's how my name looks... huh." the thief said out loud before realising she had done so and departed the shop.

The merchant gave a tight lipped frown. He'd made arrangements with 'preferred' customer before opening shop that thursday night was reserved for teaching that person and so he couldn't offer the same to the little lass before him now. He pulled out his book and offered her any day of the week starting Monday if she preferred mornings before opening, and any evening after closing other than Monday itself. He stood there waiting, to see what her answer would be.
due to the fact that Ikuze has since selected Tuesday evening, please avoid also choosing that day/time.

Rava made a bit of a twitch in her eye but she had to be kind to the man " fine fine ,Monday as early as possible please , i really want to get this done as soon as possible , i really have a busy week ahead" she said not knowing what was ahead as well as knowing her own plans.
The skills merchant put the tip of his pen to the page and made a note for Monday morning before opening. "Your name miss?" He asked the shorttempered woman. Once she gave both her name and her payment, he marked her down for her morning appointment. "be on my doorstep before sunrise. Don't be late, or you forfeit your appointment and will have to reschedule." *OF note to all customers* these appointments are not expected to be upheld or played out. When the skills merchant thread closes, the guild leaders will adjust the guild banks to reflect your new EMP balance and your new skills, so you will be automatically granted your new skill at the "close of business" on this post.

Ikuze walked into the shop in the last week before the merchant was due to leave. She couldn't believe her luck! Not only had she managed to get some more EPM, but it wouldn't leave her completely broke, which meant she could save up more for the next visit. Now she could grab another spell from the merchant, and she knew exactly which one she wanted to get this time. "Hi there, I'd like to grab the Frostmancy rank one please." the thief said, sliding the coin over the counter. She figured it'd be handy to have the counterpart to her new pyromancy, just in case stuff got a little out of hand.
That and the amount of pranks she could pull with the ice, and making free ice whenever she got a drink from the bar would be nice.
The merchant smiled and nodded his head, jotting her down for an appointment to learn the new magic.
