Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

Edelweiss sighed impatiently as she stood outside the shop. There it came again, that time of the month... when the Skills Merchant was finally open again (what else?). As the lights went on and the shop opened to the public, the redhead finally walked inside and went directly towards the counter.
"Cryomancy II and III, and Necromancy II, III and IV please. I might come for another visit later."
Max walked in, expressionless as always. It taken her a while to gather up exactly how much EMP she wanted to spend, but it had been done and she had the perfect amount. "Knife Fighting Five, please," she spoke in a calm tone. After picking an appointment date, she walked out, a light smile covering her lips as she did so. 40 - 40 = 0 EMP remaining.

Lasair walked in, nearly bumping into a short girl who was walking out, and whistled a light tune, feeling good today. After all, it wasn't often that you got to officially increase the skills in her arsenal. "Good day to you," he greeted with a smile. "This time I'd like to buy Aeromany II, Pyromancy II, as well as Projection II and III. I'll see you tomorrow evening to review it all, thank you!" After paying the man, he left, looking forward to when he would return. 74 - (16 + 16 + 16 + 24 [=72]) = 2 EMP remaining (again)

Veronika mentally rehearsed her purchase as she approached the counter. "Hello." She greeted with a polite smile. "Could I please purchase... Clockwork Robotics I and II, as well as Medical II, Steamwork Robotics I, Vehicles I, andddd Firearms I." She handed him the money owed and thanked him warmly before turning to leave. "Thank you very much, sir."

Zona smiled some as she walked in. It had been a while since she had last been in here. Walking up to the counter Zona placed a bag of money on the counter, "I need a time for Sword Fighting I, II, and III, please. I also need Unarmed Combat V." She said as she pushed the bag over to the man. "Thanks." She added before walking out with another smile on her face. She was far too happy but she had wanted to learn how to use a sword for a while now. 08 SF I 16 SF II +24 SF III 40 UC V =88 Total
99-88=11 EMP left

The twins had been wondering around the Merchants shop for a little bit now, pondering what they should and should not get. The two of them knew a few things they need but weren't sure about the rest. After looking around for a while the two made their way over to counter.
"Hello there. We are in need of some new skills." Emelo said as he looked over to his brother before turning back towards the man, "I need Health II and III."
"And I need Pryomancy III, Unarmed combat III, and Knife Fighting I." Leo said as he turned back to his brother, "Is that it?" Leo asked feeling like they were forgetting something.
"Ya I think so..." Emelo added as he thought a moment, "Oh and Projection I and II! Can't forget that."
The two then thought it over one last time before nodding and handing off all the money they owed. They then got the date they needed and headed out.

And there the redhead was visiting again, as she had warned she would. This time as she neared the counter and waited for her turn though, there was only a smaller thing she was intending to purchase:
Strutting inside, Aida rolled her hand, tossing a bag of coins onto the table. “Telekinesis III, dearie.” The elder woman purred, leaning against the counter. “And don’t hold anything back.”

"UC IV, er, please." She said, sliding the coin across the countertop She'd take her lessons as close to dawn on the next available morning as possible. Since, working nights was her forte, she'd have to train in the mornings.
"Cheers," she saluted after penciling her time slot.
Without further adieu, she left as suddenly as she arrived.

"Vehicles I", that was it. just the 1 purchase, since he only had 11EMP to begin with. He placed 8 down next to the register and pocketed his measly 3 left over. "thats it for me," he stated, but was still able to smile. Before ya knew it, he'd be building motored engines and have his own garage full of top of the line vehicles. It was time to move up in the world of engineering, and it started with the right branch of skills.

"Telekinesis II, and... and Gating I" Clairee whispered to the merchant. She still needed to be careful no one saw the farmers daughter buying magic spells. But she had wanted to get gating ever since Lasair told her about it. And it was time to upgrade her telekinesis skill... after all, it had come in handy very recently. ------- 34 - 16 - 8 = 10

"Sword Fighting IV, please and thank you." The merchant did a double take, and Caitlin felt a bit odd. She bristled, shifting her weight from left foot to right. "what?" He was looking at her funny.
"How'd y'feel bout trainin' in a group settin' missus?" She mulled it over, then realizing it was a combat skill, one her father had her tutored in when she was much younger, she felt no concern regarding privacy. After all it wasn't like she was buying a magic potion or something other.
"When and where?" She asked.... He spun the book around for her to see.... There was a date marked for SF IV but he kept his thumb over the name of the other trainee.
"Very well," she agreed. He spun the book back to face himself and penned her in. She left the shop feeling a little off kilter but would soon get her feet firmly planted again.
37 - 32 = 5 EMP remaining
*At Edelweiss Fjäril, if you want to co-train in SF IV let me know - if not, we can pretend that she's being teamed up with random NPC. Cheers!
She sat her glass down next to the decanter and leaned back. This was nice... like falling into a vat of marshmallow fluff. Calm, muffled, the rest of the world blocked out by the closed door to his cabin, and here they were safe inside. Safe from reality, safe from their own complicated lives. Safe from duty. Safe from context. Just. Safe. --Caitlin

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!!" Thrakazog bellowed, as a half dozen rogues pushed him from behind, all the way down the streets of Lodan, and finally into the Merchant's Shoppe. They were relentless - Caitlin's crews - and while some were amused at pushing around the much larger Thrakazog, a few were truly fed up that he was 'just' the ship's mechanic, and didn't contribute when fighting had to be done.
They had admonished him seriously, "You have GOT to learn how to defend yourself!" and, "I'm tired of covering your butt... plus that could take all bloody week!" But a few had been more humorous in their ribbing, "You don't want the DREAD PIRATE NORBERT to getcha, do ya?! " That last, of course, was followed by uproarious laughter followed by more pushing.
Somehow, Thrakazog managed not to fall on his face as they finally pushed him through the door, and then left him standing there, alone, with the Merchant. The big sailor held a pouch in one hand, looking like he was holding a coin instead of a pile of them in his big hands. He steeled himself, and then clomped up to the counter in his new boots, and plunked the purse upon it. He cleared his throat - either that, or a nearby bilge pump expended its contents onto a metal roof - and addressed the person behind the counter.
"Ug dere, youz. Me needs ta buy da tings... da skills... youz know... da... yub... dose tings, please." He was nothing, if not polite.
(Looking for Vehicles II (16), Siege I (8), and Polearms I (8) - total of 32. 41-32 = 9 remaining. Thank you.)

Thrak thought he was done, but the other rogues apparently weren't. They crowded up behind him, some nudging him in the ribs, and others slapping him on the shoulders. One spoke up to the merchant.
"Better give 'im one more, gov'nah. With his size, we're gonna teach him ta arm wrestle... or sumthin'."
