Prepare for the #LodanRespawn2024 Existing characters may choose to be displace from/have memories of different timelines, thereby allowing returning members the option to retcon their whole character. These changes are the result of the "Unnatural Fog" plot device that is running between now and the Respawn. The plot is simple: no matter where your character is, that place is shrouded in a thick fog that suspends time, but not thoughts or memories, so even if they're repeating the same day over and over again, they continue to remember, so each time feels like a new day. For those retconning OCs; this is where new versions of themselves have the opportunity to replace the old versions. Official lore and tree updates will be announced asap

She thought about his response for a moment, opening her mouth to say something but then closing it again to think. "Honestly..." She crossed her arms loosely like she was cold. Chaos. Panic. Fear. Blood. "I think we all lost something at the battle..." He obviously didn't want to delve into the subject so she would let it rest. She blew a silent breath between her teeth and straightened back up. "I'll find her and talk to her as soon as I can." Elaine could just walk over to Zona's house one sunny day and waltz in. And just hopefully not get attacked by a large furball with an attitude. It was never Jay she was worried about.... Tilly was the hidden assassin at the Noakes household. Elaine, even though she was technically like a cat herself, she still couldn't quite get on the same level as the sassy felines that roamed the Lodan city. She could really love the compantionship of a dog, her and Cas could always sit and judge people together as well as snuggle. But he was like the size of a body pillow. Snapping out of her thoughts she couldn't help but smirk at Lasair's comment about their mysterious jobs. She flashed him a devious smirk. "We work. Doesn't matter what we do, as long as we get paid to continue living."

He nodded a thank you to her promise to visit Zona soon; at least he could be at ease with that thought to soothe his mind now. And it seemed that he was in luck, for the conversation naturally shifted to another topic he wanted to inquire about. Although it seemed she wasn’t so quick to hand out information about this one. That was okay; he didn’t mind prying a little to try and get deeper. Especially considering she didn’t just outright announce that she was only an entertainer there.
“I know there are more than entertainers hiding in the halls of CAEsAL’s buildings. And I also get the feeling that Zona wouldn’t make a very good dancer with an attitude like hers.” He paused to glace at her sideways, a small smile coming to his lips as he let his implications be realized in her mind. “I only wonder if you also work in the quieter parts of that guild.”

Elaine gave a teasing scoff, "Of course there are more than just entertainers." She was a sneaky little girl, taunting him with what would seem like an opening of information. "There are dancers, actors, artists, and musicians! And you are right, Zona does not dance, but she is a fairly good actress." And then the door was closed. The feline relaxed her pose, dropping her arms to let them rest at her side. "Sometimes I perform, but personally I am an artist, which is about as quiet as you're going to get in a guild of people who are loud and rambunctious for attention on a regular basis." The rule of the guild was not to give away any information. Elaine felt it best to deter curiosity from her guild and her hidden activities anyway she could. Even if it meant taking her friend's words and switching them into a more innocent context. His interest was not entirely a welcome thing to hear. She shrugged openly, "I don't see how CAEsAL could hide anything, all we have is out in the open for all to see. It is the life of an entertainer to put himself, or herself, out on the stage. To give themselves up to the prospect of getting ridiculed or praised for their actions. We only do it for the coin and the enjoyment of others." She spoke like this was a question she had been asked to answer before. Her tone light and smooth, and slightly bored. This was something she had to have heard often with many audiences asking her what it was like to be a performer. Pretending that the girl didn't entirely understand all of what he was hinting at. She was just a naive teenager with talent after all, right?
"Are you asking because you want to be an actor? Or something along those lines?" Elaine asked tilting her head at him. "I figured you had many interests but I didn't think theatre or music would be one of them." Maybe she could turn the tables a bit, find out why he was so...intrigued. And why exactly, had he picked her out to ask?

She tried to close the door, but he stuck his foot in before the lock could click. “Those are all forms of entertainment, however. They are all things that provide entertainment, and thus why you’re called the guild of entertainers. Breaking them apart to specific names works well and all, but an umbrella term is alright too.” He glanced to the side for a moment, eyes catching on a man with a hat that was much too large for his head. The ander returned his attention to his companion a moment later. “As for Zona, I don’t think she’d be a good actress either. I’ve never seen her be overly good at hiding her emotions, and again, her attitude is much too stubborn to take the verbal demands I see directors give their actors. Oh and the costumes. She’d absolutely hate the costumes.” He could also bring up the point that he had never seen her name listed on the flyers for staple actors and actresses, but he thought better of it in case she were usually a side character.
His speech paused again as he took a few split seconds to break down the next point in her argument. But he reminded himself to be casual about the whole thing. Keep up that tone of ‘this is just a regular conversation’ with her. No accusing, no anger. Just simple statements that this is how things are from his point of view. “It would be fairly easy to hide yourselves, in my opinion at least. Because isn’t that what performing is? Hiding the real self in exchange for a stage name, for something that would captivate the audience till the show ended. It’s also worth noting that Edelweiss shared some secret passages with me. If cutting through a secret passage isn’t hiding, I’m not sure what would make it secret then.” Perhaps a mention of the leader’s name, along with a statement that she had shared information with the redhead would help relax Elaine’s tongue.
“And as for me, I already looked into the field of entertaining. I could do it, but my interests lie more strongly elsewhere. Generally within books if I’m honest. However if the need arises, I could always request a job I supposed. Edelweiss would surely find something for me.” And now it was her turn to try and deny his words again. Although, there wasn’t much she could say in answer, his original question still stood. Are you one of the assassins?

The girl grit her teeth slightly, feeling a sense of agitation wash up. He was prying but only in a casual way, so her defenses were up but not thick in this case. All she had to do was keep her mouth shut and keep her cool, she was a patient person anyways. "She would indeed hate the costumes." She commented thinking about what he said. Her shoulders were back, the younger girl standing at her full height. Which still wasn't much and it was rather useless when she was trying to assert herself. There wasn't anyway she could work around this one, Lasair was being persistant and he would work every angle he had until she said something. She turned to look the man in the eye. Her green orbs flashing with a bit of a challenge. "Edelweiss can give any infomation she pleases. It is none of my concern what she decides to do." Castiel sensed the tension in Elaine's voice and he flattened his ears, curling around her legs a bit as he glanced between the two. His fur prickling up around his shoulderblades. "It's not my place to have to explain the lives of simple preformers."
The girl sighed softly and forced herself into a more laid back pose. If Edel had showed him anything it meant he probably had a good idea about the guild anyways. The only thing she knew for sure is he had a hint of an idea about it and now he was trying to pin her and get some answers. Either about her own part in the scheme or just about CAEsAL in general. IT was hard to explain how you told a murderer, that murder was bad, by murdering them. Elaines hands were dipped in blood and she didn't know exactly how that would be recieved by anyone she had come to be friends with that wasn't in the guild. Zona had more on her than Elaine did so she wasn't too worried about that. She stood for a moment then averted her gaze off to the crowd to watch a few people pass by. Feeling like he might see the dark things she had done in her eyes. At least she didn't kill because she enjoyed it.

“It’s not your concern what information she hands out? But isn’t she the leader? Your leader?” He paused, catching himself from running away with the words. No, stay calm. You’re already prying her with words; don’t pry her with emotions. After a few breaths, he continued on with his level voice again. “I would be concerned if my boss told people the secrets about me. I’d rather be in charge of that information and give it out to the people I trust. It’s mine, about me, after all.” He chuckled, the thought crossing his mind about the place in his guild. No, he wouldn’t want to share information about any of his members. That was up to them.
But then again, if Elaine was sure she wanted to keep her secrets shut tight, then so be it. How defensive she was getting over the issue was enough of an answer for Lasair. At the very least, he knew that she was aware of the skilled hands in her guild. “I hear there’s going to be a new show in the theater district today; something involving animals. Would you like to go see it with me?” On the way there, they would have time to continue talking. Perhaps about a different topic, however.

Castiel growled at Lasair when he began to run away with his words. Making Elaine start and swat at his nose. "No. He's a friend. Enough." Elaine cleared her throat and looked back up at him, her eyes softer but still stubborn. "She's only my boss when I'm helping clean the theatre. There honestly isn't that much information about me to share, unless you're asking about my work ethic on sweeping." She swatted at Cas again when he tried growling a second time. "I said stop that." The feline stepped over closer to Lasair, more concerned with her dog disobeying. "It seems interesting, might be worth a look." She waited for him to continue walking so she could pick up the pace beside him.

Well, at the very least, Lasair had tried. However that trying had resulted in a certain dog becoming annoyed with him. He tried to step away, but Elaine only edged closer to him, as if that would sooth the jealous animal. “Sorry for getting on the wrong side of your dog,” he said with a bit of nervousness behind it. But relief was able to wash over him again when they could resume walking.
“Is there anything you’d like to ask me? Or shall I continue to lead the conversation?”

Elaine situated herself between Castiel and Lasair. The dog staring at her momentarily before huffing and padding ahead of them. He didn't like it when people threatened or pushed his felinesque companion. Lasair's position on his foul or fair list was still yet undecided. The brunette however, caught the slight hint tension in her friend's voice. "Don't worry about him. He's just not very trusting. That is the dog I told you about some months ago, he was the stray. With a good bath and some food he looks entirely different." She gazed at the mutt thoughtfully. "He gets attached rather quickly though once you wear down his defenses enough. He'll learn to like you. You have the charm and persistence of ostentatious cockatiel." Grinning as her gentle teasing tone returned. As much as Lasair could totally push your buttons about things it didn't mean you couldn't still get along. She had the diligence to remain open with him.
"I think you've been leading the conversation just fine, but my only question is.... if you like books so much why don't I hear about you frequenting not only my store, but the various others? There aren't that many and you by far are not the hardest person to make out in a crowd Mr. Ginger." Keep it smooth, keep it cool.

His eyes softened a bit as he looked at Cas, now learning that this was the stray he had heard of before. It was sweet that Elaine was so patient in befriending him, and now he was surely paying it back in loyalty. One more dog off the street was a good thing in Lasair’s eyes; it meant one more animal being better taken care of. “I’m glad he’s found a good home with you,” he said with a small smile.
And then she turned around to prod him with her own questions. That was quite alright, especially since curiosity was something he’d never discourage. “I usually do my reading at home. I’ve been meaning to check the stores around the city again though. See if any new and useful texts have shown up.”

Elaine smiled sweetly at Lasair. Happy her long haul with Cas trying to earn his trust hadn't gone to waste. But as for books, he did his reading at home. "You surely can't have a large library packed away in the shop you live in. There is no way." She spoke incredulously joking. "Unless you are secretly a wealthy person and you just wander the streets pretending....." She narrowed her eyes in a suspicious green gaze. Breaking out into a cheeky little grin after a pause. "Either way we are getting new books all the time. You should also make a point to stop by the Curio some day. I can give you access to the things we have in the back Archie demands never go out on sale." She explained. "You can't buy them of course but I don't think he'd mind to much if I let you have a look. They're all old and dusty. If he does say anything then I guess we'll know better next time."

He almost spoke up to say that the shop wasn’t his home anymore, but he decided against it and held his tongue. If he shared that he didn’t live there, then she would probably inquire as to where he was actually living, and that was a question he couldn’t answer. “I’d love to stop by there and see what books he has. And I suppose I will make another round of the city libraries to check for their books as well. Perhaps tomorrow; for today I have already given away to someone.” A teeny tiny smile came to his face as he glanced sideways at her. It was hard to allow himself to share those little quips, the same ones that he did effortlessly in the past. It was a small step in the right direction, at least he thought it was.

Elaine gave him a delighted smile at the small tidbit of old Lasair she got. "So gentlemanly of you!" She chimed looking ahead again and watching Cas frolick around. "As for the show, what are you expecting?"

“Hm, I’m not so sure. To be honest, I had nearly forgotten that was where we were headed. Instead I was focused on the conversation at hand.” He scratched the back of his head as he admitted his fault, but hopefully she wouldn’t think too much of it. “What kind of show do you hope it to be?” Perhaps he could tweak things around a bit and make her wishes become a reality. He had helped her and Keefe behind the scenes a few times, why couldn’t he help in the open now?

Elaine only smiled sweetly. Taking in his new habits like nothing was different. Maybe eventually she'd figure out what he happened. If by chance or he told her, whichever came first. Until then she would simply be at his side having a good time with a good friend. "Silly boy." She teased playfully, motioning to Cas at his next question. "I was hoping maybe this furball would take a hint and learn something." She laughed. "He's a good dog and easy to train when he'll actually commit to doing a trick. I might see something there I want to teach him."
